Hello Bears. I only watched some of tonight's game on BBC Alba. I just wonder what any other fans think, especially anyone who was there. My view is that I still don't understand why Black started again and McCulloch for that matter. 2-1 after extra time. A win I suppose but did Miller & Boyd contribute anything?

Miller and Boyd were totally let down by Allys wee Blacky and Big Lawwy, pair of imposters, never once looked like a midfield, and the "boss" took the centre half, who he played at right back off and replaced him with another midfielder, far safer and better to take off " wee blacky" who promptly gave a goal away, pathetic

I think one of our biggest problems on the park is the centre of midfield. Black and Law just doesn't work. didn't work last season, won't work this season, why can't mccoist see that. I'd go with hutton and mcleod.

On paper, zaliukas and mcgregor should be good at the back, temps and wallace good down the left, miller and boyd good up front, but there's nothing linking them all up.

You can read our style like a book, too slow, too many side passes, run out of ideas then punt it long. Football needs to be fast, with the entire team attacking and defending, like the germans, and you need a good central midfield to get everyone involved.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Black did ok, should be told to play his holding and breaking up play role and forget the World Cup passes. McCulloch sadly passed it certainly no Davie Weir, big guy stayed loyal so maybe can understand sentiment. Boyd and Miller starved of service have to say worked extremely hard, the real failure was the 3 at the back with Wallace and Foster getting forward did not work nobody had definitive roles and this caused the team to struggle. Zaluskis in that form well let's just say I will be glad to see the bomb scare back. The real worry though is Ally did not see it when it was clear to anybody watching in the stands the shape was wrong. I'm an Ally supporter but has to get the team to click or can see him walking.

SG75 Does Black and anybody work? I think Black is the issue more than Law. I would like to see Law and MacLeod in central midfield and I would park up McCulloch and Black. For me if Hutton was going to break through he would have done so by now.

Miller looked frustrated. No wonder. If mccoist is going to stick with that formation he can't have foster on the right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Foster had a good game compared to most

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed that Black and McCulloch should be shelved. Black is absolutely useless. If Barrie Mackay is fit he MUST be given a run in the team. With Mackay, McLeod, Hutton and Templeton in midfield we'd have a chance. I'd also give Clark a run up front with Boyd or Miller, or at least rotate the three. Also, at least give McAusland and/or Gasparatto a chance in defence. As for Ally, enough said.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lexlau. I have a real problem with some of your posts. I don't know if your taking the Lillian Gish or you have no football brain at all. how can you say foster had a good game. i'm sorry but he was gash!
Let's remember he was playing as a wingback in a 3-5-2 system. now don't get me wrong black and law were just as bad in that system.
It seems to me with some of your comments as long as we win then that's the be all and end all. football is supposed to be entertaining. unfortunatley we are not. yes we won but it was dreadful to watch and if hibs had a wee bit of a cutting edge we would probably have lost. if we are going to play 3-5-2 I would try aird in that roll. a wee bit of coaching on the defensive side and he would be ready made for that position. I went along in hope last night rather in expectation but we were so predictable. huffed and puffed again. sometimes lex lau we have to open our eyes and look at the bigger picture. for me the bigger picture was to have a team ready to compete with THEM in a few years or so. unfortunatley we are not on the same planet at the moment!

Agree0 Disagree0

Col, as a says a thought foster had a good game compared to some, there wasn't many who got pass marks last night. Yes I am usually quick to defend the team, but I know It wasn't a good performance by far as I have commented below. As for being ready to compete with them let's gets this season sorted out first ae.

Jeezo there's Bigcol at it again with yet more anti-Ally stuff. God sake big yin you must have a dart board at home with Ally's puss on it. If you haven't you can borrow mine I'm going for a new one from the McDonald range.

Lexlau. fair doos.
Nbear. I was very carefully not to criticise ally. you know what some people are like on here. thanks for the offer but I bought in bulk last year. I mentioned in an earlier post about playing aird as a wingback. I know he is not a defender but I'm quite sure our talented back room staff could teach him the defensive side. him bombing up and down could pull ally out a hole if he persists with the 3-5-2 formation.
I could go on and on but I'm away tae get ma darts re-pointed!!

Now after the pain we have suffered over the last few years and seeing the enjoyment this gave our cousins from the East it would be very churlish of any of us to take any pleasure from their exit from Europe tonight.
So for goodness sake bears no nasty oldies being rehashed like its a pity there's no word for schadenfreude

ok we won - but only just.

Law and Black were non existent and Jon Daly has nothing to worry about up front, as Boyd won NOTHING either in the air or on the ground. Looked like a shadow of the old Boyd, nothing like sharp enough.
The defence were ok once they went down to 4 at the back. With 5 we looked vulnerable, I thought Hibs players looked weeks ahead of us on fitness, but a win is a win. Lots of work to be done though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think 3 at the back with the wing backs would be a good formation for us, when the players get used to it. Wasn't the best performance but still got the win.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. Looked 2nd to every ball when playing 5, 3, 2. worried about what seems lack of fitness. Hibs looked sharper and quicker n passed ball about quite well. same old ally. worrying times ahead. only positive for r me. zalikius looked strong.

Is it just me or for past 6 or 7 years rangers have lost a lot of the ball in midfield and lacked anyone who actually tries no creative player in a long time surely this must be seen with the staff am happy with the line up tonight but still no spark

Dont like being a mccoist basher at all but on tonights display and the tactics he is ploying I am watching the same style he has used the last 3 seasons and don't think he will change, we have reverted back to the punt up the park even when we are playing boyd and miller surely we should be getting the ball down and passing it but I despair now at the way its going to be to watch this all season so ally I am sorry but its time to let a better manager come to our club now

if mccoist plays 1 up front then we are paying a lot of wages just for back up strikers. everyone one says he had to win the last 2 leagues and I agree but our signing policy is terrible we have been the only full time team we should be winning it anyway. we have a large squad to compensate for not having a good manager
