I have an idea guys maybe a long shot though.......... but see every away game? what if ibrox can open its doors for fans that can't make the trip? like back at the uefa cup final i was at ibrox that night with about 20 thousand other fans. just sayin donations can be made so we are basically using ibrox every weekend? any thoughts guys? (LOYAL BEAR)

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Good shout mate

campbell

Agree3 Disagree1

Think thats against the rules for league games. Sky and Espn would veto it too as why buy a subscription when you can got to Ibrox to watch your team. I could be wrong though, im only a stupid tim.

Agree2 Disagree0

On the big screens that only show about 1 replay made from about 1 seconds of replays during the game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers campbell mate, and to the other posters, why are we allowed to have rangers tv etc, but the again that's only for home games is it ed? but we can have livestream or use espn and sky, cos as i said in my original post we did it at ibrox for the uefa cup final and was that not on sky sports?. (LOYAL BEAR)

Agree0 Disagree0

No you're not a 'stupid tim' as you put it, you made a very valid point. It is a good idea but as you rightly say, the TV companies wouldn't stand for it. At least someone coming up with some ideas as to what can be done to help the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

Basically what am tryin to say is its like goin to a mates house to watch the game except there coukd be 20+ thousand fans watchin it at ibrox with a sky and eson subcription. ed can clear up for me? see when rangers are away? does it get showed on espn or skg? or does it just vary? bcos my idea might be stupid but with some sort of clearance that it could work with dependence on what channel it is showed cheers. (LOYAL BEAR) {Ed001's Note - it can't be done, the contract forbids it, they would have to reach an agreement with both the SPL and Sky to do that. Sky would be willing, but I doubt the SPL would be as it sets a precedent.}

here is a BIG question

if rangers liquidate and there is a new company

what if the fans want nothing to do with it
its ticketus,whyte ect

what do we do then..........les

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Do what wimbledon did..create AFC Rangers and watch them.

i cant believe some people actually don't mind if there is a new rangers it disgusts me i sure want us to be the same rangers 140 years of history just cant dissapear if it did happen i would be very very annoyed and disappointing in fact i would be heart broken people say football is just a game yes to some people it is but not to me and many other people football is my life rangers is my life after family it is rangers of course family comes first but then rangers is a second

campbell

Believable14 Unbelievable8

Prepare to be hear broken Campbell.

Agree7 Disagree2

"very very annoyed" lol.... Say it how it is big chap, you will be f£cking RAGING! An so would I mate
PaulRFC

Agree2 Disagree0

I hate the thought of Rangers going to the wall also, but i think some people are giving up too soon. If we go bust, then so be it. But until then we have to keep believing that things can be turned around and save our club. All we can do is keep giving our support and turning up at the home games in large numbers and cheer the team on. The rest is out of our hands and what will be, will be.

Agree3 Disagree2

Is your second name Oglvie? LOL

Agree6 Disagree0

Make it 125 years history cause the last 15 years have been a big lie.

Been posting on and off all day while working from home and the banter's been great in the main - sensible and thoughtful from most people. Unfortunately the disagrees to the condolences for Paul McBride's family have put a dampener on things - apart from that I've enjoyed it. Shame the idiots ruin it.

Proper banter for a change - thanks everyone and Ed001.

1903

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Totally agree mate - its these people that shame our club

ryanrfc

Agree8 Disagree2

Agree, A man has died for god's sake, some people need a reality check. Condolensces to his family at this time. RIP.

Agree7 Disagree2

Anyone can click the disagree button , there have been plenty examples of others masquerading as Rangers fans over the last few weeks ,sad that there are people capable of such pathetic behaviour.

Agree6 Disagree1

Sad that a moron can even contemplate not offering condolances. This was the same Paul McBride who represented Kirk Broadfoot and Alan McGregor was it not? The moron should crawl back in to the cesspit he crawled out of and not assume decent FOOTBALL supporters share his thoughts

Agree5 Disagree2

I doubt that I will get this posted, but I can only see two options as a result of liquidation............

1. New club restarts at bottom of Scottish 3rd division. This way the sky deals goes, and then let's see the rest suffer, instead of trying to hold our club to ransom. Theywould have no ticket money from Rangers, however lower league teams get benefit of undoubted travelling gers support, so helps them. We would have no European football for 3 years anyway, by which time we would be promoted back to SPL.

2. Application submitted to English football league, or conference. Thus gaining route into EPL. Granted this takes longer, but would be a path into the proised land.

Anyone any thoughts on this

Believable6 Unbelievable4

England are struggling to control racism do you really think they want the sectarian thing aswell ? No chance England have never and will never want the old firm!
PaulRFC

Agree6 Disagree2

Who's holding your club to ransom? This mess your club finds itself in is all your own doing. Take what ever punishment you get and get on with your life. Man up, support your team and stop with your ridiculous post

Bman

Agree6 Disagree4

So lets get this right.... You mis manage your finances, Dont pay your tax, dont pay other clubs what you owe them, give players 2 contracts, sing songs your banned from singing and... EVERYONE else has to suffer?? f*** sake have you ever wondered why you lot dont get sny sympathy? Your an utter disgrace its not division 3 i want you at... Its completely out the game the world would be a better place.., oh and before you say what about the sky money its only 2 percent of our budget do get it up ye!

Agree10 Disagree3

Why would the sky deal be cancelled and there is no chance of going to england

Agree4 Disagree1

No chance of Rangers being admitted to English league system.The English operate a pyramid system,where down in the lower leagues such as the Northern Premier,the winners are promoted to the Conference and so on into the league itself.The problem with this is you need the agreement of both the FA and the SFA,so no chance of the turkeys voting for Christmas.

Agree3 Disagree0

Has anyone from sky confirmed that if there is no Rangers then they will pull there deal? As far as I am aware the deal was on condition that teams will play each other 4 times a season not that Celtic must play rangers 4 times a year..in fact I would suggest if the SPL signed up to a tv deal which guaranteed rangers and Celtic SPL status that would be illegal. Therefore if I'm correct and Sky have already signed the new deal then with or without Rangers they can't pull out...Ed..do you think that makes any sense?
Don74 {Ed001's Note - that is how it was explained to me, that the deal hinged on the clubs playing each other 4 times a season. That was expected to ensure 4 Old Firm games.}

Agree1 Disagree0

UEFA rules do not permit a team to play in a country in which they are not based.

Agree2 Disagree4

Ye why are swansea in premiership all bulls**t they suit themselves in self interest believe what you want all politics and they say Eastern states are corrupt ha bloody ha we are more corrupt than anybody we just suppress it better than them PR rules if you can afford to PAY.JUST ASK CRAIG WHYTE ESPECILLY {Ed001's Note - Swansea and Cardiff play in England because there was no Welsh league for them to be a part of until recently. Even now the Welsh league is just not big enough to cope with them really.}

Agree0 Disagree3

04 Mar 2012 20:52:21
Alright ed wots ur opinion of how it will all pan out for rangers, would love to believe there is someone waiting in the wings to bail us out but personally can't see anything other than liquidation! Seriously hope not, just wanting to hear a different view see if it can lift my spirits!!! The Rabbit {Ed001's Note - I am not convinced it will go so far as liquidation, I expect the administrators to cut costs and get the club back into the black, gradually. The problem is that it is likely to take a long time, I can't see the club being out of admin in time for the start of next season.}

I feel sorry for all the genuine rangers supporters, as a Celtic fan, I come in peace. I actually find ally mccoists comments a bit disappointing. It is not Celtic fault the trouble that your club are in. Why does he feel the need to again attack Celtic. I do not think anyone from Celtic has commented for a few weeks so why bring it up again. It is pretty bad, especially before an old firm match.

Good luck to your club. I will be at Ibrox for the match and spend a fair bit to help out, any little helps I guess.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Ally didn't mention who was putting the boot in could have been Hugh Adams ,the former player who gave the sun a copy of an alleged contract Stephen Thomson Dundee united who is well known as a rangers hater etc etc etc

Agree7 Disagree2

Thanks for your kind remarks. Re ally's comments, it's the Sunday Mail who are stirring yet again, when they say that they a "thinly veiled attack" celtic. I think ally mccoist's emotions are starting to get the better of him.

Agree2 Disagree3

His emotins are getting the better of him, and i for one am worried that he is going to say/start somthing to get the attention off him(with him playing the victim card is wrong and will only get supporters hot headed). And i wont be surprised if it is at Celtic/Lennon to try and get somthing to happen at the old firm game(like he started last year), i believe he is going to cause problems for the supporters with what he says, i just hope people dont get carried away and do dump things. i thought he was maybe better to be one of the ones to run your club rather then coach because of his passion for the club(relates to the people), but more i hear him i dont think he should be, he is to emotional

Agree3 Disagree2

Ally is a true bear as a manager who cares just now we need more Ally's in our corner ......Big D

Now I no you have on the herbs mate, you think Motherwell and the rest "probably" have a better chance than rangers in Europe, aye very good mate! Not even their own hardcore fans would buy that one, ed your spending to much time on the selik page man! ;)
PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - right now are you telling me that Motherwell are not more likely to do well in Europe than Rangers? Without Naismith Rangers have been dire, truly dire. It is shocking how much the loss of just one player has affected them and they haven't even played good football for the fans to enjoy either.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Totally agree we have been playing p!sh, if you are talking right this second then motherwell probably would do just as good (or bad more like it) but that's because of the mess we are in, an talking long term untill rangers FC get bought or restarted as a new co ( which is my worst nightmare) then it's only going to be that other lot with half a chance in Europe it's sad but true, even the other way with celtic in our shoes I'd still say the same, the way our game is no team in Scotland could replace rangers or Celtic in trying to compete.
PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - most likely it would be, but who is to say what players released by Rangers they can pick up? There are hosts of free agents out there and other players looking for teams in Europe to sign up for. Whichever team gets the second spot for next season, they have a huge chance to build a platform for success.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed some of your comments are total nonsense , I like to contribute to the page but if you are going to start making outrageous statements to stir up comment I will look elsewhere.Keep it real.
RS {Ed001's Note - go elsewhere then, I am not making an outrageous statement, if you are too deluded to see that then that is your problem. If it is beyond your level of understanding that Rangers are about to shed numerous members of playing staff while other clubs aren't, so making you weaker while they stay the same, then I fear for you.}

Agree2 Disagree0

That's a fair shout ed,an to be honest if what's happened (or will happen) to us can help the other teams compete then atleast there's one positive to take, aslong as we can fight back to the top I'd be more than happy to see all Scottish teams (except Aberdeen,Celtic,and utd ;) do well in Europe because I was bloody 16 the last time I seen Scotland at a tournament and a strong Scottish game means a strong Scottish national team!

Im gonna come on here with something that might upset alot of people but If the rules are that we have to go to the 3rd division then I would personally take the hit cos if the rumours are true and we are to lose all these players tomorrow then lose the tax case and stay in administration and like all the clowns from the septic page hope we do actually go bust then to be honest I for one wouldnt mind if we started back in the 3rd division cos although the revenue would be heavily hit and attendences would be low no europe for 3 years I think is the number bein quoted then y not start from the bottom and try to work our way back up, at least this way the morons from the east end cant say we are getting preferential treatment as they always insist but we would also be giving our support to the lower teams in the football leagues,and IMO the SPL teams would be left without any real TV revenue themselves and that in itself would happen for at least 3 years which in my opinion would stop that lot from charging too far ahead...Its just my feeling if it came to it but please express your opinion....

Agree1 Disagree3

I posted the link earlier and said exactly that, Ed. - the author states it can apply to either, or indeed both, of the Old Firm.

1903 {Ed001's Note - I read it and then looked at the remarks on it by gloating Celtic fans and just wondered how they could not see it!}

The leading Scottish lawyer and QC Paul McBride has died suddenly while on a visit to Pakistan.

Evidence that some human beings who visit this site are scum. A man has died suddenly and you disagree with sentiments of condolence: disgusting behaviour and they should be brave enough to post why they disagree. It's possible some of the cowards have tried but the Ed. has had to filter the comments out.

2012 or 1012? Some are still in the past.

1903 {Ed001's Note - I personally have only deleted one comment, and all that said is they have the right to disagree if they choose.}

I don't know how anyone can disagree with such respectful and decent sentiments, Ed. Makes me genuinely sad. It's the same when a Rangers legend dies - the sides of the divide unite in respect.

Ed, just wondered if you could clear this up?

Did Fiorentina go out of existence in 2002?

I know the bought the rights to use the original name and badge back BUT if the did go out of existence why are they still credited with all the trophies they won before 2002?

As we all know, if Rangers were to go bust we would have to start a new company and use a different name and all our previous success would not be credited against the new company.

I was just wondering whether or not there are different rules in Italy or whether Fiorentina did actually go out of existence or not.

Thanks for any help you can offer Ed, as I understand it is a topic that you may not be able to help with.

G95 {Ed001's Note - all I know is that they bought the previous incarnation's history. I don't understand how or why, in Italy you can do anything if you pay enough though. Not so sure it would be possible to do the same in Scotland.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It wouldnt happen in Scotland.(wont go into why...) The history and badge are still assets though. Surely that in itself implies its sellable? CheltBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

So basically,

They went out of existence, started up again and bought back the same name / badge / and history of the club.

Seems a bit like cheating the system to me.

G95

Agree2 Disagree2

The SFA would now allow this as any club with debts could simply do this with no penalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the replier, all assets would be sold off IF we went into liquidation. I'm not even sure the name / badge is an asset. As far as I'm aware the main assets we have are Ibrox and Murray Park.

Ed could you please answer if every player under contract could walk out the club without having to agree to pay cut as breech of contract from top earners down,as i was told rumour thats y reduncies were put off as a mass walkout n players paid off,held of till monday as 2 weeks before next game, {Ed001's Note - if the players aren't paid within a proscribed time period, I can't remember what it is off the top of my head, then they will be free to walk. Hence why Romanov finds the money to pay the players every so often, to stop that happening at Hearts.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats why the big earners are going,theres no money to pay them on march 16.coaching staff to be slashed as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Payment on March 16th is for the period 17 Feb to 16 Mar. It will therefore be a fairly substantial wage bill.

Ed have u been smoking herbs mate ;)
Who's to say 2nd place (not rangers) won't do well in the Europe, well I'm saying it ed mate! Motherwell and the like have NO chance man , they will get the spanking of a lifetime, they can't even get past the very first Europa qualifier, and before I start hearing how we got humped let me ask this , how did Celtic do then?
PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - and each year is different, your arrogance is astounding. If a Cypriot team can get through the group stages, then there is a chance for everyone.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Motherwell won't do any worse than rangers this year, did malmo not spank rangers?

Agree5 Disagree2

Not arrogance, it's reality...If the old firm can't do it, the rest are gonna struggle. {Ed001's Note - there you go again, that is sheer arrogance. Aberdeen have won more in Europe than Rangers, if I am not mistaken. European football is becoming more like it used to be in the past, money is becoming less and less important, simply because there is none. You have no idea if one of them could get a lucky run going and get through, just like any cup competition.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Celtic done okay,in a very hard group

Agree5 Disagree5

How did motherwell do in europe this year?? All the spl teams were guff.

Agree3 Disagree1

Aye but remember aberdeen a few years ago in uefa cup they got past group stage and got a draw in the next round against munich

Agree2 Disagree0

Aberdeen got to the knockout stages of the UEFA cup in 2007 or 2008

Agree3 Disagree1

Last 32 in 2007/08 - drew with Munich at home, 2-2 then lost 5-1 away.

Agree2 Disagree0

Aberdeen were the best team in the SPL then...The best we have is Celtic/Rangers at the moment, and they've struggled in the Champions league most times. It's not arrogance to suggest that nowadays outside the old firm other teams will find it difficult to achieve anything in Europe especially with the standard of Scottish Football. Look at the national team, struggle to qualify for Euro/World Cup finals.

Agree1 Disagree1

Look whats happening at dunfermline just after losing out on 80 grand,every club outwith the old firm NEED rangers and celtic to keep the afloat.cluba like aberdeen winning mor than rangers that was many moons ago,when the game all over europe was totaly different. dc74 {Ed001's Note - your first point is irrelevant, this is a conversation about whether or not at any point in the future someone other than Rangers or Celtic could actually do well in Europe. Your second point is a fallacy, every team in Scotland is poor, they have just as much chance as you do, in fact probably better judging by how many times Rangers have been beaten of late.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed money is getting les an less in europe ??? please explain an look back at whos won the champs league in last 10 years clubs with cash an it will be the same for the next 10 that really is a silly statement an whoever gets in cl instead of us next season ed i am willing to put a wager on with u cash goes to charity that they get put out in the 1st round they play

TB {Ed001's Note - you have no idea what you are talking about. Do you understand why the January transfer window was so quiet? Obviously not. You clearly have no idea about the state of the game or why so many clubs, such as your own club, are in such a mess and what it means for the future of football. Please try and keep up, NO ONE has any money bar a few with rich sugar daddies. Once you understand this, we can then move on to the next step.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Just reading down ed, you said "there you go again" that wasn't my post mate, although I do in part agree with it. I take your point also but these Cypriot and the eastern Europeans that make some kind of Mark they are the same level as rangers an Celtic now both sets of fans want to disagree with that but it's true, so you really have to say the third best team in Scotland are about 10 levels of that mate, I wish their were not because it would help Scottish football bit the truth us they are (in my opinion)
PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - but Rangers are not a level above the rest and haven't been for a while, Walter Smith got them to grind out results consistently yes, but the players were really no better. In a cup competition anything can happen. It only takes a couple of good results to go a long way, an opponent having an off day or missing key players through injuries or suspensions. It is not like a 30+ game season, where consistency and strength of squad is the key.}

Agree2 Disagree1

If the fans start a pledge company where we can donate money to save the club we could stop liquidation. Plus for every tenner we put down the celtic fans could put down a fiver.

Fellow Bears. Despite disappointing
results at Ibrox in recent weeks. i
ask you please keep turning out and
filling the stadium to capacity. i can
only speak for myself when i say i can
understand the displays on the park.
However we have to look at the bigger
picture and keep pumping as much money
into the club as possible until the end
of the season. We will follow on.

To the previous poster reading between the line with you saying that their was 3000 empty seat did you see how many empty seats their was at Celtics last 2 home games, Motherwell - 7346 empty seat. Dunfermline 20832 empty seats and this is a team chasing their first league title in 4 years! AMAZING haha

Ed do you know of any rules that would stop somebody buying an English league team, change their name to Rangers and their home stadium to Ibrox? I don't think the stadium in Scotland part would be an issue because of EU law.

If Rangers start a new co it is widely thought that they will be allowed back into the SPL but the other teams will demand that sanctions are imposed on Rangers. There is a couple of problems with this; Sky will not be interested in three years coverage of Celtic guaranteed to win the league because it ruins their big attraction of the OF games. When the league needs a new sponsor, which will be pretty soon, who will want to sponsor it, because it will be boring. Finally, Rangers could simply say, if you impose sanctions on us then we will not take any away tickets. So potentially the only party that will want to see sanctions is Celtic.

GovanFR {Ed001's Note - and every other club that wants to give themselves a chance at the second Champions League spot.}

Believable2 Unbelievable7

It's this arrogance that other teams' fans are so sick of and why they want Rangers brought down several pegs. The league might actually be more competitive - not for who wins it, but for the race for European places, you never know.

A little humility from Rangers fans would go a long way as far as the other clubs are concerned.

1903

Agree5 Disagree5

Spl have already laid out what will happen
They will be minus 16points for the next few seasons .And will not get their cut of sky money

Agree2 Disagree4

Ye ed I know that is the counter argument, but to be honest even with a ten point deduction the other teams would probably expect us to finish second. Also, look at what has happened to Dunfermline because of not getting ticket money from us in one game.

GovanFR {Ed001's Note - but getting into Europe would more than make up for that for them.}

Agree1 Disagree5

Ed Scotland won't get two spots in the champs league mate, our co-effeciant rank will not be good enough for that
PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - you do next season and you never know how well teams will do.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Would there be a 2nd champions league spot? {Ed001's Note - the spot is not contingent on Rangers being around to receive it.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Big gamble to take when only 1 of them can get that place and would struggle to get through 1 qualifying round never mind 3 as the co-efficient dips lower than it already is.

If we die am sorry but a would want to bring them all down with us!

Gers1986

Agree3 Disagree7

What about the other leagues? much increased income while rangers climb back,more spending power for their infrastructure and more interest in their leagues.div 3 should be the sanction,the SPL will durvive for three years.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed we wont have a 2nd champs league spot soon so what u on about ??

TB {Ed001's Note - depends on how well clubs do in Europe. So what are you on about?}

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed the last time teams outwith the Old Firm had a decent run in euro was when? the 80's.
The Old Firm are the only ones to do something since then.
Other teams fight for the euro spots and that's their season or a chance in the cups.
A new co Rangers could also mean a loss of the co-efficient points accumulated by RFC and possibly putting CFC into the first qualifying banana skin round, with ties played end of June. The euro spots as well could also be cut.
-'.... Those points are then added to the number gained over the previous four seasons to take Scotland's overall tally to 21.141, a number vastly boosted by the 10.250 points gained through Rangers' run to the 2007/08 UEFA Cup final.spots. As such, the winners of the 2012/13 Scottish Premier League will have to play three qualifying rounds to reach the group stages of the following season's Champions League.- '- STV
'Celtic's elimination from the 2011/12 Europa League has ensured Scotland will have only one Champions League entrant from 2013/14 onwards.' - STV
No difference for the other teams then with any new RFC also competing if allowed into the SPL.
Iam Legend {Ed001's Note - STV are wrong, only the 2013/14 entries have been decided, anything else will depend on how well next year's entries get on, plus a number of years previously. Saying that other clubs have not done well historically is just pointless, have you seen the teams that got through the group stages this year? Some of them had never even got to the groups before, each year is different. Who is to say whoever gets the second spot this year won't have a stormer and Celtic do well too, giving Scotland back its second spot for the season after?}

Agree0 Disagree1

Sky must have put a clause in the contract to cover them if Rangers were to fold no Rangers and sky will pull the plug, it Rangers and Celtic fans that keep these other clubs afloat with their away support.

Agree0 Disagree2

To be fair Rangers didn't exactly do alot to boost Scotlands co-efficiant did they?

Agree3 Disagree2

Aberdeen made the last 32 of the Europa League 4 years ago which was a decent run. Not brilliant, but not bad either.

Agree3 Disagree1

@1903, the league would not be competitive, dream on. No Rangers means less money for the other SPL teams, meaning the standard will drop and in turn we will lose our second CL place because NO Scottish team is good enough to do anything in Europe. You talk about 'humility' you lot should try it, bad losers and even worse winners. The point about us not going to their grounds stands, take Dunfermline for example, they will not get into Europe, but they will lose money. That would be a huge problem for them.

GovanFR

Agree1 Disagree2

Well ed what am on about is we wont have 2 cl places soon its not rocket science

TB {Ed001's Note - put your crystal ball away, you have no idea what will happen in the future.}

Agree1 Disagree0

As my original post mentioned, and has been completely ignored because of the Europe debate. Do you really think Sky will be happy about Rangers getting a points deduction? Also, will the SPL get a new sponsor? Before anyone says it doesn't matter is Sky are unhappy, simply it does, money means everything in football. Oh and to the guy above the SPL have not given a definitive answer as to what they would do.

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree0

GovanFR, you assume I'm a Celtic fan, just because I post things you disagree with. Think again.

And I said it might be more competitive. Your arrogance won't let you consider it. Then I look elsewhere and see you'd rather Rangers were in England, yet you're on this thread saying Rangers have to be allowed into the SPL. Make up your mind.

You cannot predict what would happen if Rangers weren't in the league. Neither can I but one thing that would happen is that clubs would cut their cloth accordingly - budget for Rangers not being there. It MIGHT be more competitive and if more clubs had a chance of doing well - be it European qualification or a better chance of getting to a cup final, attendances may rise every week, thus negating the twice (sometimes once) yearly boost in revenue the visit of Rangers brings.

These issues have to be considered by all clubs as the future of your club is by no means secure. It's time you realised this, like many objective, rational Rangers fans already do.

1903

Agree2 Disagree1

If you lose one of your league's biggest teams....then the rest of the league will suffer, whether it be domestically or otherwise. I believe sky will change their T&C's if there is no old firm games with a reduction in cash (If they don't decide to pull out altogether). Other teams can wish for the demise of Rangers, but they are 'cutting off their nose to spite their face' as they will lose the money Rangers fans generate in income during Rangers away games (with the exception of the 'tic, who will dominate the league and they're fans will become bored with it).

Agree1 Disagree1

The league will not be more competitive, Celtic will dominate, there will be the usual fighting for 2nd spot instead of 3rd as is now.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only way the SPL will become more competitive is if both old firm teams were outwith the SPL. You will still have one team dominating the league minus Rangers, it's the nature of the league.

Agree1 Disagree0

Most SPL clubs would need just a few hundred fans to attend per match to cover the fact Rangers wouldn't be visiting twice and maybe only once a season.

Agree1 Disagree1

GovanFR , you seem to be so full of your own self importance that you've not thought your point through , sanctions MUST be imposed on Rangers or sporting integrity and fair play will be seen to apply to every team other than Rangers , this being the case , Scottish football is finished and we might as well pack up now , have you really thought through your proposal to not take away tickets ? given that Ticketus own your home tickets , if all the other 11 SPL teams boycott Ibrox where would Rangers income come from ? you will have no European income , no Sky money and little income from your home gate , so instead of arrogance , a bit of humility and goodwill would be a better way to approach your dire financial situation , other clubs are struggling due to money owed to them by Rangers not being paid , so dont assume teams will welcome yous back with open arms , Rangers are in the wrong and cant get away scot free , so have a word with yourself mate . Drewzybhoy

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed crystal ball ?? are u high ???

its gona happen wether u like it or not its common sense ffs really what is ur problem scottish teams do rubbish in europe an if i am not mistaken next season only the winners go into champs league so i think that will be me proved right

TB {Ed001's Note - you are mistaken, yet again. My problem is that I have to deal with people like you, those who haven't got a clue but keep shouting their mouth off telling everyone else they are wrong when in fact it is you who is wrong, time and time again.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Hear hear, Ed001.

Agree1 Disagree0

Drewzboy, perhaps check facts before posting. Ticketus own Rangers season tickets through Craig Whyte, and yes that is season tickets only. I'm not saying no sanctions should be imposed and I never did say that. What I said was that three years worth of points deductions wouldn't work. I know your just desperate to win the league any way you can, and why don't you have a word with yourself, yous is not a word. Moron.

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree1

@1903, hypothetically speaking I would rather Rangers were allowed into the English leagues. But realistically speaking we will play in Scotland, there is no need to 'make my mind up.' So you say I can't possibly know the league would suffer, so I assume then that you can't possibly know it will suffer? It is my opinion, which I'm entitled to post.

GovanFR

Agree1 Disagree1

GovanFR, can you read? I said, I didn't know how it would work out either. Yes, you're entitled to post your opinion but it might not appear so daft if you would take proper cognisance of other posts before countering them.

Just read Steven Thompsons interview about wages in football and got to thinking. Football used to be a working class industry where players earned similar wages to other worjing class jobs like postmen or milkmen. Obviously, with the large tv interest and contracts players wanted a piece of the financial pie leading to astronomical wages across the board. Well Scotland and other countries are no longer getting these big tv contracts so perhaps its time footballers were reminded that they are not hollywood stars that should earn more in a week than a large percentage of supporters earn in a year.

I'm not questioning players like Ronaldo and Messi earning larger wages, but most of the spl could not compare with these guys. I think its time for a reality check for the football industry.

Even in the Epl there are teams like Villa reporting losses of 80 to 90 million over the last 2 years. Football in general outgrew its income. Rangers just happen to be the first poster child of the problems. If hmrc wins the big tax case expect many teams to be pursued.

Its a shame the uefa fair finance scheme wasn't put in place a long time ago. Perhaps this would have promoted youth development.

I am sure Rangers will survive in some form and I for one will be buying my replica kit (hopefully with a scottish star of the futures name on it instead of ortiz or some other foreign second rate player):

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Funny to see David Moyes mention a 20 percent pay cut thru the epl...overpaid all round {Ed001's Note - Liverpool have already instigated a lower wage policy, the incoming players have all come in at much lower wages than would be normal in England. Adam, for instance, is on 30k, which is a lot, but when you consider even Villa were offering him 35k plus a week, it shows that the club are determined to keep wages down. When you look at Arsenal, most of their fringe players, Denilson etc, are on 60k a week, that is unsustainable in the long term.}

First point I would like to make is for Rangers not to liquidate we should fight to stay exactly who we are. I personally don't think we will but is going to be a close thing and the only people who can save the club is us the fans .if the worst comes to the worst we will have to liquidate its a fact face up to it, its OK being romantic and fighting for lost causes be realistic.despite what others say they cannot delete our history a history I am proud of Rangers fc will still be until someone passes our record the worlds most successful club its in the record books and stays there.A change has to be a change for the better we must look at all aspects like club ownership,youth policy financial structure to ensure this never happens again. One thing is we have is time as our season is gone, well done
Celtic. In my view even what league we play in should be properly looked at, spl, sfl,some English league all avenues must be explored ,a good example to look at in terms of board structure is our brothers in Germany Hamburg, youth policy on a lesser scale of Bayer Munich and in terms of strategy to recover napoli who were liquidated a few years ago and are now after re organizing taking the champions league by storm.yes the current situation is bad I don't doubt that but we can and will be back ,but we must make the right decisions to safe guard this great club for our kids nd the only people who will get us back is the fans and with hard work and dedication as we say four men had a dream can now be rehashed as 100,000's of men and women had a dream

I'm the one who wrote about the fans turning up in their thousands again but the players didn't show the same commitment but some fans replied "how would you feel if you were threatened with being made redundant" etc. These players are supposed to be profesional footballers, if they can't show the fans that, then they are NOT professional & they are NOT doing their job correctly, meaning they should be sacked, if any normal person acted like that, they would be sacked & no, I didn't go to the Inverness game either, infact I haven't been to Ibrox since the late nineties, I'm obviously waiting for idiots to say I'm not a real fan etc but you don't know my circumstances.

TB

Agree0 Disagree2

First time poster here. I have to agree with this last post. These players need to grow some b***s. Although things are very dark at the moment and there is a lot of uncertainty the only things within our control are the support we give the team and the way we go about our buisness on the field. On the first point the fans have been fantastic (hats off to you boys in the Broomloan Rd) but unfortunately I believe the players have not reciprocated that support. I appreciate they may be worried about their future but I am confident that if released these guys will find another club without too much trouble. My disappointment at the game yesterday wasn't because we lost or the referee was a bit suspect it was the lack of effort and creativity emanating from the team. I was in the Army for 24 years and sadly during that time I lost some close friends and colleagues but during those grave times we still had a job to do and didn't have the luxury of feeling sorry for ourselves (we greived after the job was done) and strongly believe thats what the players need to do now. They need to step up to the mark with pride and professionalism and repay some of the fantastic support they have been receiving. Rant over!!

IF Rangers go into liquidation and IF as it's been reported in the papers that should they get back into the SPL they will be hit with a 15-16 points deduction and have the TV money slashed I for one would rather see Rangers start again in the 3rd division and work there way back to the SPL. What's the point in playing in a league where you are being severely handicapped at the start of each season. What players will want to come to the club when there is no european football, no TV money and with the deduction will be fighting just to stay in the league. All we would be doing to lining the pockets of the other SPL clubs.

Believable11 Unbelievable3

And those players would want to play in the 3rd division?

BF1 certainly tried to make a good atmosphere n it was ok where I sat too but the fans didn't rly come to life properly till we went 2-1 dwn, we need to be like that for 90 mins. In saying all that the performance was shocking!

Few guys posting support for SUPERALLY while I would say he has baffled me with a few of his decisions this season,I can tell you guys who are supporting him that most people on this site would not know what a football is if it hit them in the f***in face,I am going 2 say this again I said it after the killie game it does not matter what kind of football we are playing, you see last week we played very well at inverness & I did not see the SUPERALLY hasn't got a clue bridgade on greetin no they wait for a poor result 2 jump on him & that my friends is why our club is in the state it is in because of f***in glory hunters,SUPERALLY is working with probably the worst group of players seen at IBROX for the last 25 years,as I said at the start sometimes he baffles me but he is not doing what he is doing for a laugh so the lets batter SUPERALLY supporters, do me a favour support your team because by f*** do they need you's just now the scores are irrelevant, you see we may not have a club 2 support soon don't think it will happen but you never know & then who are you's going 2 moan at ya bangers

To all the posters in the various threads who keep saying:

"We will be back, bigger and stronger",
"We will bring in better players" and all of the rest of it, do you not realise that if whether you come one of administration or are liquidated, that if you spend money that you do not have again, you will be right back were you started?!

The Sun reporting no European football for us next year as coming out of Administration by 31st March unlikely. Reporting March 16 as final day for purchaser to step forward.
Creditors could top over £100M. All reported by Administrators Duff and Phelps. Guess they don't talk to Daily Record.

If Rangers are liquidated, there is no guarantee that we would be allowed to play in the third division, as they would not meet the guidelines set by the SFL, namely

“Membership of the League (whether full or associate) shall not be transferrable, save that:

(a) a Member wishing to change its legal form (whether from unincorporated association to corporate body or otherwise where the ownership and control of both bodies are or will be substantially identical);

(b) or (b) a transfer within the same administrative group for the purposes of a solvent reconstruction only; “

The only way that this would work is if Whyte stays on in control.

Like Airdrieonians and Gretna, they would be gone, as and as the rules have been tightened up since Airdrie United bought Clydebank’s league status, any new club would have to start in a non-league capacity in the West of Scotland division or such like.

So liquidation might resolve you debt issues, but it will also remove the club from the face of Scottish Football forever

Believable6 Unbelievable1

The abvve rules only affect a company that continues to trade. If the club goes into liquidation and a newco is formed the above rules do not apply. {Ed001's Note - but then it would lose all rights to a place in the league pyramid and would have to be voted in.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Load of b****cks,do you honestly think the spl,or sfa would block our registration to any Scottish division,behave,there would be a riot,dont forget,we still have players in the Scotland set up,youths etc,our support over the years at away grounds have saved clubs before now,lose our away support,financial hari kari,we are Rangers,dont do going into liquidation.

To the ostrich: So Lemmon built his team prior to McCoist becoming manager? He still has those players available to him and they were HIS signings. He chose them. Anyone signed by The Rangers before this season were not McCoist choices.

So Lemmon has spent more than McCoist. You obviously have no idea how football works or teams are built. SAF signs 1-2 players a season, does not mean that he didn't spend 30mil on Rio Ferdinand??! Now trot.....54 and still counting. We don't do walking away and we will be back.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

But maybe having to count from 0 and if the contracts thing is true, it might not be 54.

How many of those 54 were legally won? How many walked away prior to the final whistle yesterday? Trot on......

To the poster who is mixed up as to who's the ostrich aka... YOU! What a silly post I'm making the point of who your manager signed THIS season and for how much because I'm fed up with you clowns saying he had no money to spend when in FACT he has spent more than the famous Glasgow Celtic and every other team in the league THIS SEASON! Now did you get that? If your talking about building a team then don't you think sir wally was helping Sally do this prior to him taking over the reigns? FFS he was there as his no2

Rangers are trying to ride out the cash storm till the end of the season.The reason for this is if liquidated in the close season they can be guaranteed their place in the SPL.Next week's redundancies could be massive,possibly only leaving,mcgregor,davis and whittaker as experienced first team players.In the next window these players will be sold,along with naismith at the earliest opportunity before liquidation takes place.This leaves"new rangers" to start the season with no debt,point deductions or sanctions and money from the sales to re-build a first team squad.Whyte will own ibrox,murray park and the albion car park,leasing the first two for a small rent and keeping the income from the albion.Ally mccoist will not be manager as he knows this is the plan and is very unhappy with it.Before you blow this off,just think about it.A new badge has already been designed and approved by whyte(thats where this info came from) and just needs to be trademarked.It's over.

Believable10 Unbelievable16

Absolute and utter nonsense the only thing that is true is Whyte's plans from liquidation! New badge been designed and will we all follow on blindly and say "oh thanks Craig where do we sign up!" If and when a new Rangers is formed Craig Whyte can have nothing to do with it the only way we can move forward is a figure head to lead us - someone we can trust and relate to (Walter Smith or a Souness as head of a consortium). Craig Whyte can never and will never be the man to lead a new Rangers!

Gers1986

Agree2 Disagree3

@Gers 1986;Remember this post when it happens.Bury your head in the sand again,i would think you ignored the warnings when whyte came in.You dont need to follow blindly as whyte does not care.To be rid of whyte means your fictional consortium would need to buy him out as he owns EVERYTHING of worth.That means your done im afraid.Trust me the badge is done and dusted.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lol! is this the same craig whyte that will be deemed 'not fit and proper' to be in control of a football team? the same craig whyte that's hiding all of your money in his lawyers bank account? the same craig whyte that brazenly refuses to pay anyone that is owed money?

what you also don't seem to grasp is that when you are liquidated, you don't have players to sell...you start with a big fat 0

Just a wee arithmetic lesson for the rankers fans if they can pull their heads out the sand for long enough! These are players signed by rankers this season and then followed by Glasgow Celtic signings what I want you to do is add up the fees and see who spent the most. Calculators can be used but I'm sure you have enough fingers and toes to manage! Answers at the bottom no cheating coz I know you are good at that! JuanOrtiz £0.5m,Lee Wallace£1.5m,Dorin goin £0.8m,Alejandro Bedoya£0.4m,bocanegra £0.4m,Matt McKay£0.32m,Sone Aluko£0.15m , Çelik £0.24m

Wanyama £0.9 bangura £2.2m total. The other signings were pre contract and cost nothing.
Rankers=£4.31 Celtic £3.1m

Eh....I think you have forgotten to factor in the wages! just because they were free transfers doesn't mean that they cost the club nothing!

Lee Walace was 1.5million - 800K still outstanding money spent = 700K
Dorin Goian was 440K
Bocanegra was 404K
Ortiz was 396K
Bedoya was 303K
Mckay was 264K
Celik was 246K - 246K still out standing
Total Spent - £2.6 million
Players out totals - £7.5 million

Go check your facts before you start talking about our club - yes our club not yours

Gers1986

Agree6 Disagree5

Typical that you ignore the sales of players. We have spent £5.6 m less than took in. If you are going to gloat at least get your facts correct

Agree3 Disagree3

Lol bedoya 0.8 WRONG..... Goian 0.8 EUROS! Ortiz EUROS!
Mathews cost you 300k ! You no nothing! Go on have your debate on your own page you clowns!

Agree4 Disagree6

Rangers' players out include Jelavic? If so, Ally still had a fair bit of cash to spend last summer, at a time when Rangers couldn't afford it. How many fans on here would behave in the same way? Skint, up to your eyeballs in debt and you go out and buy a brand new car, go online and buy a new telly and then book an all-inclusive fortnight in the Seychelles?

1903

Agree1 Disagree0

It dont matter what they cost, Dignity FC are bumping everyone. If I was a Blue nose I would be ashamed to admit it

Agree2 Disagree1

Rangers paid players wages too so that has to be factored in. Remember too that Rangers tried to sign Cousin on £7.5k a week just before going into administration because of lack of funds to run the club. McCoist wanted him signed - a ludicrous idea given the lack of money at the time.

Agree1 Disagree1

Right ostriches listen up you all failed the test! Just as i thought making things up and not grasping at figures in front of you. Makes you all bottom of the class just like your manager! This has nothing to do with wages everyone has to be paid regardless! we are talking about transfer fees,what your diddy manager was willing to spend on these players. 'Money in' has sh!t all to do with it either. Also the fact there is money outstanding on players means nothing either you idiot. Again it was what he was willing to pay. Those figures in the original post are all correct and all fees are in POUNDS not euros. And finally Adam Mathews cost Celtic NOTHING! So I think this puts to bed for once that the ' Sally has had no money to spend' shout is a total lie!

Agree2 Disagree1

So what, McCoist might have spent just over £1m more than Lennon this season, but you have to remember is that Lennon already spent millions of pounds building his squad the season before and added to it.

Lennon spent in the region of £8m in his first full season in charge of Celtic, according to you McCoist has only spent £4.31 in his first full season in charge.

McCoist hasn't had the luxuries that Lennon has been able to enjoy. Thus includes luxuries in transfer bidgets and wage bidgets.

So please, get off you high-horse.

Neil Lennon would be struggling if he were in McCoists position too.

TTG

Agree0 Disagree3

1903,

How was McCoist to know the money wasn't there? He was promised a £5m budget by Craig Whyte, this budget included wages and transfer fees. Craig Whyte has made McCoist look like a mug.

Oh, and Rangers sold Jelavic this year.....not last summer.

TTG

Agree1 Disagree0

TTG, you've missed the point. I wasn't blaming Ally - just saying that he was spending money that wasn't there.

And I know about Jelavic - I was just asking if the figures from above took his sale into account. If not, then much of what Ally spent didn't come from sales.
