david weir should retire now he has had a great season lifting the spl trophy it is a good send out for him he stays another year i could see regret for him hes going on 42 he was cought out once or twice this year i have great respect for what weir has done for the club but its time to move davie in a european game he will be cought out i feel hes still a massive player he don't have much left in the tank becouse like ally said he wants attaking football rangers can't play a high line they will be suspect if they don't have 2 fresh centre halfs rangers should play a diamond next season that streaches the opposition LB RB so jeavic with space on the ball is dangerous also rangers must have a player like mikel really deep in midfeild for an extra body at back when opposition counter they also need some one who can dictate play . if rangers have that next season they will be a force

In
Goodwillie £1.5m
Diouf £500k
Conway Free
Eremenko £1m
Meite Free
Granqvist £2m
Bartley Loan
£5m

i would agree with most of that except diouf as his manager already stated rangers can take over his contract because hes surplus to requirments at blackburn not a rumour true story. . i would liek him back though to be honest but like kyle lafferty would do best in a midfield position probably winger

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Kyle lafferty in a midfield role joking right?! didnt you see him playing up front last few games he never had a run like that before give the lad a chance play him up front with jelly lets see why we paid so much money for him big rab by the way

Is one time Rangers target Julien Faubert a free agent from west Ham or would he cost £. Either way I'd trade his natural speed and ability for Bougie to go the other way. I feel Bougie's surging forward arrogance a weakness waiting to be exploited by the opposition and a sign of "I do it for me not for RFC"

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Julien Faubert is not a cb left mid or left back so get ur facts right how could he replace boogie ?????

K {Ed001's Note - Faubert is right sided mate.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Point taken! but what I hear is West Ham might be interested in Boogie. Boogies attitude to the team is "its all about me" if Faubert was available then I would happily trade Bougie's ego for a better diciplined quality player and then look to fill the LB position.

Ed any idea if sebo rumours could happen?

{Ed010's Note -I really hope that Ally will be targetting and signing new players for Rangers instead of re-signing players from our past. If however, he was wanting to sign a centre forward from our club's past, I just can't see him looking past Kenny Miller. It is with this in mind, I think that the Sebo rumour, will remain a rumour.

Anyone got any views on signing past players, whether it be Miller or Sebo or both ?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Millers return is a possibility, if he is actually unsettled, but as Burssaspor recently signed him from us he would demand a transfer fee. The only other past players I would sign at present are Barry Ferguson and Cuellar; they are still a good players whereas Gatusso is past it and Lovenkrands is crap.

Say what you want about Barry but he is still an excellent passer of the ball and the type of player we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people keep saying Lovenkrands is crap, he wasnt crap when he was scoring cup final winners against Celtic in the last minute. He wasnt crap when he was getting thompson sent off at Ibrox. He has been banging in goals in the premiership all season with newcastle and is one of the first choice strikers. . Come on guys Peter is rangers daft and never wanted to leave the Gers, he was forced out by a certain manager who only lasted a few months i seem to remember. . .

This would be a great signing as he wasn't given the opportunity to prove his worth last time. He is a little powerhouse who will tear up the spl.

just heard that Ally has held talks with with Harry Rednapp about a Loan Deal for Alan Hutton to come back

Alan hutton was in the first team every week for spurs last season before he got injured why would he come back??

I think Redknapp & Hutton had a bit of a fall out as far as reports went a few months ago.

Yous probably won't believe me, but Hutton is my 2nd Cousin, and he hasnt had any offers from Rangers, because ive been asking his dad and his granny Edna Hutton what hes doing next year. .

Also about what I was saying there in regards to Bannan not being anything special, I know he's a young player but if he was special I would have been more confident when he was coming on as a sub for Scotland recently but when I seen that he was due to come on as a sub to apparently change the game I was like put someone else on.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

03 Jun 2011 18:14:57
Barry Bannan may well be a Celtic suuporter but I don't think he's better than what we already have at Rangers . I admit he is a good wee player but nothing special as far as i'm concerned. Tomer Hemed is something special though and at only 24 could spend a fair bit of time at the Gers, Jelavic is a class-act and pops up surprising us every game with something special. We have a really good squad, keeping them together and adding proven players like Goodwillie, Conway and Tomer including some defenders who I'm not sure who. Could someone suggest some defenders that are realistic targets please, Also Frings is old but his tackling is unbelievable could be solid in the midfield area so would be good to get a legendary player on board? Thankyou.

I'm curious to here your opinion on this editor . .and fellow bears. Doesn't the nature of rangers speculated transfer targets worry you to a degree. I know it's very, very early days, but it seems Rangers are scouring the globe for the cheapest targets which worries me slightly. There are some extremely appealing players available on bosmans within this market, that perhaps McCoist has to act quickly to attract these players to Ibrox. However it concerns me that Whyte's pledge of money towards "transfer fees" may be an empty one or half full so to speak. I hope that my concerns are just insignificant pre-season apprehensions. Mochaccino Latte.

{Ed010's Note -Mochaccino, the player situation does not bother me in the slightest because as you rightly say, the targets are either rumour or speculation. Ally has been handed the job of taking our club forward and we must trust him to do the right thing for Rangers and that includes, obtaining the services of the best players that he can, given the amount of money at his disposal. You rightly mention "Bosmans" and the quality available but you also have to also take into account, clubs who have players out of contract on 30th June and who haven't released them early. These clubs obviously harbour hopes of having them sign a new contract. While some clubs may succeed, other won't and so Ally may well decide to wait until the International transfer window opens on 1st July, to evaluate which other players become potential Bosman signings, in addition to those players that he is already aware of.

In reply to ppl saying barry bannan and hutton won't come to ibrox firstly bannan has been told by national manager levein he has to be playing first team footy to get game for scotland so hes gonna go with whoever gives him a game as for hutton he was actually dropped before his injury because of a fallout with harry rednapp so you can't say never to any off these players playing for rangers.

Davie c

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Would love Hutton back at Rangers. And we could play Broadfoot as centre back.If we can't get the players in that we want just now.But I bet it will not happen. And he moves to a mid to bottom half EPL team.

The players i have heard the Gers are interested in are Vaughan from Blackpool, now it looks as though he may head to the premiership instead but i'm sure Ally will keep trying! Then there is Toch (Cartagena), Tomer Hemed(Maccabi Haifa) and finally Emilson Cribari(Napoli). Everyone of these has been heavily linked and are all available on free transfers.

So the fact that we not spending any money on transfers at the moment has me thinking Ally may be looking for a "big" money buy!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

This is exactly what i thought he should do, get in a few bosmans i.e. frings, the brazilian, vaughan, conway. Then get in 2 maybe 3 quality young players!
smart move if you ask me!

Just to clear something up. . A lot of people seem confused as to the regulations of the transfer window. As of June 1st, clubs from the same association can confirm deals that have been struck for their players. However the players do not officialy move until July 1st. Any transfers outwith one association cannot be confirmed until July 1st or of course thereafter.

not a rumour just an opinnion

i think that we won't find out who we are signing untill they are paraded at ibrox or murry park, my reason in thinking this is because in previous seasons every player we have let known we are interested in the manky mob then try and step in and try n pick them off, im sure coisty will have a long list of players he will be looking to try and bring in as stated he had 2 lists of players he was looking at before the takeover went through 1 if it didn't go through and one if it did. i like all on the site would hope some of the rumours are true, the players i would most like to come would be

goodwully
petric
conway

i think those 3 and mibby some others would enhance the team 10 fold

opinions welcome

Not a rumour as such, but correct me if i am wrong. The transfer window doesn't open until July 1st so not Rangers, or any club will be buying or selling for whatever price as only free agents can be signed at the moment.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Correct

Agree0 Disagree1

True but deal in principle can be arranged for when the window opens

Agree1 Disagree0

1st of July is the earliest any player can join the club but transfers can be agreed before then at the end of the day its just a contract the same as any other u can arrange to sign a contract with anyone so long as A - the contract u originally have doesn't stipulate that you cant
B - the contract does starts after the contract ends.

However now clubs are supposed to "give permission" to clubs to approach their players but the market just doesn't work like this agents "tap up" players all the time now those who don't think it happens are no to wise at all when it comes to this.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I know its hilarious! Next they will ban all Champions League talk altogether as they haven't been in it for so long! !

In Super Ally We Trust.

Billyboy1!

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason they want it banned is because moronic supporters like yourself believe that without the Champions League money Celtic will have to resort to signing freebies. Despite the fact we perhaps can't spend the same amount as the last few season we are still in a very sound sate financially. Mr Desmond is a billionaire and the other directors aren't short of a few bob. If i were you i'd be worrying about Mr Whyte's financial prowess.

Agree0 Disagree3

Very true your team has alot of money. so i feel you dn't want to talk about it because you aren't there and haven't been for two seasons. A tea, with nae a two pennies to rub together beat you to the top and have the chance of the greatest stage in club football AGAIN !

Billyboy1!

Agree1 Disagree0

Ah, but is Whyte really worth £700m? Is it his own wealth or the value of companies etc.? Have you been fooled to thinking he really is worth that much?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha I posted that originally.

It was mostly posted in jest to be honest but the reason I put it on there is that I keep seeing the same stupid arguments starting from a Gers fan coming out with a snidy reply to a fairly genuine post and mentioning CL money as if it somehow negates any chances of Celtic signing players this summer. Fact is the same old rubbish replies get boring. I'd prefer it be constructive.

Example:
Celtic FC burger van employee:
"Celtic are looking into signing Anew Teelaydey from Jobcentre FC. Source: CFC News and the burger van"

Gers fan with a dodgy keyboard:
"Omfg r u stoopid??? wi oot the CL $$$ yous are destinned to be 2nd bst 4 teh nxt over 9000 seasons + U'LL lose Eezygeary, Kayahl, Hopper and Komonz. 4IARWAT-legnedary-P fial fail."

Fairly realistic Celtic fan:
"Well I've heard Arsenal and Spurs are after Teelaydey. Job Centre are looking for at least an IOU and I don't see him joining us over the EPL. To Gers fan: as for the previous comment, we'll need to offload some of the deadwood but we're in no way totally skint. Plus if you look at last seasons signings most of them were less than a million. To be fair neither club is much worse off than the other but I guess that remains to be seen as we don't really know what Craig Whyte's plans are yet."

Flamer from either side with caps lock superglued down:
"SHUT UP #2 CELTIC HAVE SOME MONEY TO SPEND YOUR JUST A MORON.
or BUT WHAT DID LESS THAN A MILLION BUY? RANGERS FC CHAMPS NO CL MONEY FOR YOU BOO HOO 4IAR"

Clueless Celtic fan:
"No you're all wrong. Lawell is worth at least 5 trillion. We don't need CL money coz we'll make at least 60 million if we sell Izaguirre. In Lennon we trust.
FAILBHOY"

Gers fan hoping Celtic get screwed in a transfer deal:
"Izaguirre isn't worth 60 million. You'll get around 2 pizzas and a curly wurly if you're lucky."

Celtic fan:
"Izaguirre is a quality player. I can't see him leaving for. ."

Fair minded fans of either side:
"YAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNN. [oegfi erpogtm gperjm gperg]***"

El Hadji Diouf, Vladimir Weiss and David Healy won't be returning and the Ibrox outfit are unwilling to meet Aberdeen's £250,000 valuation for Ricky Foster.

McCoist has been all over Europe scouting this week and will take in further games this weekend.

Blackpool's David Vaughan has been linked with Rangers but looks set to join West Brom.

The Light Blues have also been linked with Napoli's 31-year-old Brazilian defender Emilson Sanchez Cribari as McCoist looks to strengthen his defence, but Bartley remains the priority.

Is it just me or are the dark clouds of pessimism still very present amongst other Bears regarding the quality of signings and perhaps also the number?

It's unfortunate Weiss won't be returning but certainly not as surprise considering the immense talent and potential he has but most of the realistic links we've had to players are either over the hill, past their best or really not of a Rangers standard.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that we're a far cry from the team we once were but it's insulting that people seem to think we're no longer a big club because of the last few years. I think a lot of Bluenoses seem to forget this also.

At the minute, and possibly for a couple more seasons we won't be a club of Gazza's, Laudrup and McCoist's but other than last years necessity a club of Diouf's and Fosters we most certainly are not either.

They don't have to be big names but it's imperative we get quality signings. I mean look at Whittaker, by no means an amazing player but put in an amazing shift last season and we'd have been shafted without him. More of that please.

I was just catching up with my SKY+ there. It was heart warming to see that Kyle Laugherty from The Scheme has cleaned up his act and off the joe mack. I worry about his younger brother though but his sister looks like a lost cause. A sad statement of todays society, you would have thought Rangers would have helped his family out. Good luck Kyle "2 pieces and square, quality" Laugherty.

You don't have sky+.they don't fit sky to caravans. {Ed001's Note - actually they do! I was on a Haven site with my daughter a few weekends ago, half the caravans there had Sky fitted, I was shocked.}

Really hope the Torsten Frings rumour is true, just looked at some of the goals he has scored and they are incredible. He reminds me of Pedro Mendes a bit but if I was McCoist, I would hury up and sign him before someone else gets him, he is a free agent after all. Also had a look at Tomer Hemed, looks not bad definately know he can finish but the stats show he may not be good enough to play for rangers. Approximately 24 apps, 3 goals. But he has begun 2 show some goalscoring form with 15 goals in 22 apps so lets hope he can continue that form if he signs for the Glorious Glasgow Rangers.

24 caps for who coz he is making his international debut 2night research any1 ????

Isn't he about 34 yrs old, admit he was a cracking player but don't think ally will go for him to be honest, no sell on value and sky high wages, would be better spent on young talent that we can move on in a couple of seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think about it this way: a 34 year old former international who has just been released by his club which finished 13th in the Bundesliga looks for one last big payday. Yes, he might have offered his services to Rangers, according to the press, but to how many other clubs has he done this? As many as possible, I would expect. He'll be looking for huge wages too, given his age and what he'll have been used to in Germany. Could be Rangers' Ljungberg?

Wouldn't you prefer the money to be spent on younger players with lower wage demands who will be there for a two or three seasons and then sold on for a profit?

Agree0 Disagree0

REgarding Hemed, it looks like you've taken the 15 in 22 appearances from wikipedia but the stats on him on the same page don't state this, and other sources say he's scored 23 in the last 3 seasons. It's difficult to find out the truth about how many goals he has scored recently. Remember that wiki isn't always accurate.

A rumour that I just heard off of a reliable source is that ally is looking to sign Barry bannon (spelling) on loan with an option to buy at the end of the loan spell

Would love this to be true as i think he is a cracking wee player who can play out wide and in the middle. Great vision and a very forward thinking player with good technical ability! Started watching him when he was with the scotland under 21's and he stood out there!

McCoist is hoping to strengthen his squad and could make a move for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie if his current court case is dropped, but he has ruled out a return to Ibrox for El Hadji Diouf, who was on loan from Blackburn.

David Vaughan is weighing up the options and the only teams he is interested in are both West Brom & Rangers!

Well without sounding biased I know what team I would choose being a 28yo I'd be wanting trophies and Champions League Football I know West Brom give you the lure of the premiership but he will not win anything and let's face it West Brom don't come close to the calibre of Rangers FC!

Barry Bannan is a Celtic fan, i'm not saying Celtic fans can't sign with Rangers because obviously they can, he's young and he's a good wee player but he isn't anything special. Wee Ness is Rangers daft and plays a better pass from the centre midfield, Wylde is faster with a good cross. As for Tomer Hemed he is a brilliant player, was really surprised at just how good he was when I seen the video of him. I don't judge players just by a video but his goals and touch were just immense and he's a player that really excites me. I am all for Goodwillie coming to Rangers but if it was Tomer Hemed instead I wouldn't be too disappointed bears.

What exactly does 'We Are The Peepo' mean? I once asked a Gers fan on a forum that and he told me to "google it", so i did. Top answer was the name of a childrens book. Are you perhaps involved in some sort of childrens literacy programme?

{Ed010's Note -Many years ago, I sat next to a Rangers supporter who was in his nineties. He took great delight in reminscing about the "good old days" and he told me how this phrase came about.

The true phrase is, "We are the people" and is found in a piece of scripture, namely Psalms 95:7, which reads, "For he is our God; and we are the people (WATP) of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand".

This piece of scripture was adopted by Rangers fans and is chanted towards their rivals, in the knowledge that being "God's people", Rangers fans must be superior to anyone else.

Yet i struggle to believe that the knuckle dragging section of Rangers support (we have our fair share aswell) have ever seen the inside of a church. {Ed001's Note - unfortunately the majority of people who go to church around the world see it as absolving their acts throughout the rest of the week.}
