What did I post a few hours ago about Christophe berra signing for Leicester City, well it's that berra is definitely signing for Leicester City, as a massive rangers fan I'm very disappointed that rangers have missed out in signing berra

two things number 1 will people stop going on about danny wilson he's a reject who was built up by the media and only got a move to liverpool because of kenny dalglish. he was found out in 5 mins and has now found his level hearts reject.
number 2 what is it with nacho the leech novo we can't seem to shake him off he's like a lttle dug hanging off mcoists trouser leg. why is he training here go away nacho you aren't wanted or needed. give it up and find another club.
also stevie smith and richard foster. c'mon now what are you thinking ally.

To be honest you don't have a clue. Wilson got hardly any chances. See if you walked into a new job and screwed up with in your first couple of days does that mean you've been found out? Or you're just getting used to your surroundings. He wasn't given much of a chance with better players in front of him simple as. The fact he has signed for hearts well good for him.
All novo is doing is training with rangers. Hardly clinging on. What this guy did when he was first at rangers says to me he has every right to train with us. Ally's stated he doesn't want to sign him so therefore he won't sign but doesn't stop him staying grit does it.
As for Stevie smith when fit he's a good solid left back and cover for Wallace. Over at Portland he stayed fit and was a good player for them so why not have him as cover.
Foster on the other hand is a good signing. He knows what's expected at rangers. He's been around the place before he's quick decent enough going forward and decent enough at defending. He's better than what we have at the moment so why not take him on.

I agree Davie Weir made him look good just like he made Perry look good.

Danny Wilson "He's found his level at Hearts"! Correct me if I'm wrong but Hearts are TWO yes TWO divisions above you at the moment, so that being the case he is playing at a higher level by staying at Hearts, I can't believe some of the nonsense I read at times.
Agree0
Disagree0
@3 we will be passing hearts by next season.
Agree0
Disagree0
Passing them by while playing the same level? First division. Or are you being petty and talking about being a few places above them in the same league?
Gee yourself peace man.
Agree0
Disagree0
Take the rangers specs off man novo is and was a poor wee fat player. danny wilson will be a kilmarnock/st mirren player in a few years and smith is as good as my granny and foster being good aye that's why he can't get in the worst scotland squad in living memory.
Agree0
Disagree0
6) so that stops novo from training with us? As for Danny Wilson think st Johnstone and killie finished above hearts so it's hardly an insult saying he's going to play for a better team than he's at at the moment. Only reason foster isn't in the worst scotland team is because Hutton is one of the better scotland players in my opinion so I'm not particularly surprised he's not in the scotland team
Agree0

Danny wilson was only good beside weir he's a liability as hearts will find out soon

I don't understand us spending all this money on new players. We are in Scottish DIV 2 we must remember and players on wages of 5-10k are on far too much for this level. I understand that people will say that signing big money (relatively) players like daly, law, Berra, pandza, smith, bell etc will make sure we win this league but surely we should win this league signing cheaper and playing younger players? After all it is only DIV 2!
Believable0
Unbelievable0
No guarantee with that though. It's risky. Should have got promoted will not be good enough come may. It has to be promotion no excuses. no 'star player gets injured' and were in the poo scenario. Depth and quality.
Agree0
Disagree0
Don't you understand that we can't afford to f*ck it up!
What do you propose we do if we're off the pace in December and struggling?
Let's face it- the team that won the title last year never really got out of second gear and a lot of our performances were below-par. However, I believe that the majority of Ally's signings had the experience to get us over the line.
Don't forget- Ally had ONE job to do last season, and that was to get us promoted. He achieved that by a considerable margin.
Agree0

Its not about money and sense, but a dream.
The bunnet stopped Celtic overspending beyond thier means, and now it bears fruit.
To paths back to top - spend spend spend - risky.

I'm sorry but anyone trying to justify the current signings and wage budget just to win the 2nd division are deluded. I thought the party line to justify it was to challenge in the cups are your seriously that lacking in confidence in Ally you believe this is all to win the 3rd tier of scottish football? Unbelievable.
Rangers should have wrote off trying to win any cups for 3 years because no matter what, they are not going to be able to live with a fired up far more talented Celtic side if they managed to reach a final. The should have taken this opportunity to sign the best young talent they could attract whilst each season bringing in a few well thought out free transfers like they have done with Nicky Law who showed up well in the SPL and against Celtic numerous times and most importantly at a good age. Then after winning the 1st division there would be a kitty built up to go and bring in real quality to mount a challenge upon returning to the SPL.
This gung-ho buy any mercenary from the SPL who will sign tactic is a nonsense and clearly because they feel its the only way to sell season tickets. I believe Rangers fans after there show of commitment last season buying 38 thousand season books and filling Ibrox while in the 3rd division deserve a bit more credit than that.
Celtic fan.

Maybe beacus we are building a team to win games in cups not only the divison we are in and the boys we are getting in will move on for a fee in later seasons a head and we are getting good boys for free so in a sence we are making money form bringing these boys into the team

@2 Do YOU understand, by spending so freely mccoist has ensured that if we DO f##k up the club will go bankrupt in a flash. He's prepared to risk the very existence of the club for the sake of a greedy impatient dash back to the top. After all we've been through I find that truly staggering.
Agree0
Disagree0
@8)what spending you are you going on about?. Ally's bought nobody. All Ally's done so far this year has brought in freebies seven up to this moment in time. You do realise we have lost six first team players from last years pool ie Alexander Goian Boganegra Kyle Sandaza Hemmings. With the wages saved on the first three alone mentioned it will be more than enough to cover all new signings so give it a rest.
Agree0
Disagree0
04 Jul 2013 07:14:39
@9 Unbelievable naivete. Ally got freebies but only ones that re given far higher wages than we need to be paying or can afford. And we've not saved a penny on Goian for one, we paid him off by giving him the full salary he was due for the rest of his contract. "Give it a rest" was the same phrase that got bandied about by those with heads in sand before the liquidation.
Agree0
Disagree0
At 9). Sansanza is due a pay off. Goian and boca are walking away with 500k each. We're does that fit in with your theory on covering wages. Potentially 1.5 mill hole to fill
Agree0

@6 one small point - we haven't bought anybody this season.
Also Kilmarnock, hearts and St mirren were all able to live with "a fired up celtic" at hampden over the last couple of years if I am not mistaken
JG
Agree0

@12) Aye and Rangers couldn't live with a fired up Stirling albion last season at Ibrox what's your point.
My point is when Celtic play The Rangers in the cup both teams will be fired up because of the rivalry (you can argue newco new derby sh*te till your hearts content, i'm not interested in debating that) but Celtic's massive superiority on the pitch will shine through.
Problem with the Kilmarnock, Hearts and St. Mirren games (trust me I was at all 3 games) was Celtic weren't motivated enough. I can promise you motivation won't be a problem against Rangers. They willl prepare for it like they done the scottish cup final, like its a champions league match. Or so the management said they had anyways.

Mccoist said on the tv and I quote,
"It's not rocket science. The majority of the goals we lost last season were from set plays and central defence is an area we'll certainly have to do better in this year".
So Why have you left it this late to get your defence sorted out ally, that's not rocket science!
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Aww bless him, trying to come across like he's a dab hand at this management lark haha
Agree0
Disagree0
So in your footballing brain out of the players he had in the first team squad would you have played?
Every pair who could have possibly played in the central defence did and were shocking. Add a signing embargo and six days to put a squad together, hence the need to strengthen, "its not rocket science"
Agree0
Disagree0
What's the rush? Why pay 2 CBs 12k a week between them when they can't play until 1st of Sept.
Agree0
Disagree0
This late?! The transfer window only opened on the 1st of July. meaning most free agents contracts didn't expire until the 30th of June! that's not rocket science either. too many looking to jump on the "Blame Coisty" Bandwagon! Give him a chance!
Agree0
Disagree0
Not a McCoist fan but how can it be so late when the start of the season is still a month away and they would only be able to play in 2 games until sept!
Agree0
Disagree0
"So Why have you left it this late to get your defence sorted out ally, that's not rocket science!"
And what, dear friend, do you think he should have done differently?
Agree0
Disagree0
So are you suggesting we should have let the signings we have made get away just because we hadn't signed a defender yet? Is that a rule for great managers? You sign the best available as they become available.
Agree0
Disagree0
Op everybody except you knew ally had to wait until he found out what was happening regarding goian and bocanegra before he could move for new defenders imaging he brought two in then boc and goian wanted to stay on
Agree0
Disagree0
Well I would prefer ally to look whos avalibe and see who the best players are that we could bring in than just pick the first two cbs he sees he has plenty time so get a grip

03 Jul 2013 13:01:26
Ally said last week that the first team squad would be around 20 players. Therefore you would think that this would mean no place for Faure Cribari and Argiou who have been shocking. If Berra and Pandza sign it makes the starting 11 interesting. Is it Foster or Hegarty McCulloch or Law Wallace or Smith Peralta or Black?
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Ideally would be great to get rid of the players you mention however who would take them off us? The only way I could see them leaving is if they are paid off. Not really sure who is going to leave as only Templeton & Wallace would interest anyone

What about Tom Hateley? He's a free agent and can play anywhere really? Just wondering if that's a possibility, not a rumour I must add.
Believable0

You might have a point there m8. anyway how you getting on Mark?
Agree0

McCoist has said he has no interest in signing him. Instead he wants some players with potential for growth such as Berra/Zaliukas who have at least several months playing time left in them
Agree0
Disagree0
Not going to happen. Mark hately is furious McCoist signed Peralta as he feel Tom would have been a more sensible signing. McCoist doesn't rate Tom hatley neither do I. Good Free kick taking is not enough to warrant a place in the team.
Agree0

N3 totaly agree with you mate if toms surname was not haitley nobody would have gave him a second glance ok he can take corners free kicks but so can I and nobody from ibrox is looking at me lol
Agree0

@3 it's a myth that Tom Hateley is great at free kicks was speaking to a Motherwell season ticket holder the other day and he has hardly scored a goal from a free kick

Would just like to find out if there are any bears with the same opinion as me? It seems a lot of you don't rate Kyle Hutton and seem to give him a hard time, whether it be while he's on the park or on sites like this! The thing is, I think he is a very good quality player, maybe he didn't put in all that good a performance against division 3 sides but look how well he played against Motherwell in the league cup, he ran the game when he came on and more than deserved his MOTM accolade. Then there was Dundee United in the scottish cup, he was one of the only players that turned up in that game and of course acquitted himself well in a few CL matches a few seasons back! Clearly performs better in bigger games and that's why I think he's worth holding onto for when we get back to where we belong.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
I agree he's had some wonderful performances in some big matches but him & his best pal Kal Naismith are some of the most immature Footballers I've ever laid eyes on. Crawford, McLeod & Aird would all be ahead of them in my team they seem like very good young professionals who know how to act & behave when playing for a team like Rangers & none of them have ever let us down on the pitch. Sure Airdy found it tough against some of the big hard hitting defenders but tried his heart out to widen our play & cut inside at every opportunity he got!

Agree0

The wage he is on he should be playing more than 2 good games a season, ally is to blame aswell with his tactics, how can a midfielder play good with the high ball tactic?
Agree0
Disagree0
The problem with the midfield last season was that Hutton and Black are the same type of player. Both are defensive players with very little pace. Both would benefit from having someone beside them with some drive. Surely Black or Hutton must be odds on to leave however I doubt wether anyone would be interested given their average season and in Blacks case his wage.
Agree0
Disagree0
N3 I agree but I would play hutton before black after all black only had one good season at hearts
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree OP. Hutton is a good player, I think most people can see he has ability. The problem with him is he lacks confidence on the pitch, whereas off it he seems like a jack the lad. If he screwed his head and focused on improving his game then I am convinced there is a very good central midfielder in there somewhere, at least at SPL level. He has all the ingredients. He's strong and can get up and down the pitch well, he's powerful and isn't shy of a tackle and his use of the ball, although not great, is certainly not terrible and can always improve. There were a few games where he was a standout performer last season. It will be interesting to see what happens in midfield now as we have lots of options.
Agree0
Disagree0
I hope he proves me wrong but I don't rate hutton based on last season, he should have been running games from midfield but his passing and defensive play were terrible, you can count on one hand the times he was up as far as the 18yd box and he lacks any pace, in fact he looked slower than me, and that's slow

Since everyone is playing Football manager & posting their take on our starting 11, here's mine based on who we have:
Bell
Foster McCulloch Gasporotto Smith
Law
Little Wallace
Templeton
Daly
Squad to use throughout season:
Kelly
Cole
Hegarty
Peralta (can also play full back & CB)
Black
Crawford
Shiels
Aird
McKay
Clark
Out:
Cribari
Agrigou
Naismith
Perry
Not to everyones taste but I think this is a decent starting 11. Shiels & Clark could both fit into team and also McKay & Black if he screws the nut but he would start season on Bench for me.
Clark scored lots of goals but I believe Temps behind Daly would be good with Little deserving a starting spot due to his effort last year

So here is the crux of bad management. expensive players (obviously good otherwise they wouldn't be bought by Ally) have to be sold so that cheaper players ( less good) can be bought whilst moving up the divisions. if it isn't the case why were these didies bought and paid such high salaries prices. over to you Ally

In response to the 10 players, McLeod would play in front of Law. (never pasted over)
As for the wages, the team I picked was based on the current squad of players we have which may change. I'm not being drawn on the wages side, I've picked my 11 based on who is available at present. It would not surprise me if Wallace ends up leaving to save more money but I hope he stays. I think that squad would be capable of coming 2nd in the SPL and also doing well in the Cups.

Would love to see 2 centre backs in Berra and Pandaza would be perfect in an ideal world but unfortunately ideal world it ain't unless we can get rid of the dead wood who played in defence last season then this ain't going to happen we will maybe get the one cb in and only if the dead wood don't hold us to ransom to rip up there contracts, cause let's face it my fellow bears nobody is going to put in bids for them! But let's look forward to another good season with hopefuly good cup runs aswell! W. A. T. P.
