Feel we have bought quantity rather than quality. let's be honest jack and halliday are no where near rangers standard like ian ferguson etc. I also agree with wolfman that the core of the team should remain for most matches like the last few games of last season. Rather than spend 3 million on helander should we have put that and the candies cash on the table to Liverpool. I hope i'm wrong but can't see this season being much different to last!

I wouldn't have spent 3m on helander. Thot the same if we had that it should have went towards trying to get Kent. Katic goldson and Edmondson with young mayo getting around the 1st team more or maybe another ch on loan I'd have said would have been enough at ch.

Agree with most, that ryan jack if fit plays in our midfield every week for me. He's the unsung hero at times and does the very hard dirty work in midfield, well! Since gerrard became the rangers manager, ryan jack has improved as a midfielder and is a better midfielder in the more offensive areas of the park. He's the complete midfielder for me now and will be a mainstay in our team for many more years imo. He is a rangers supporter and loves the club.

Halliday is better than Barisic? 😂
Now don't get me wrong, I love Halliday. He epitomizes everything s Rangers player should be - probably because he was born a bluenose like the rest of us.
But he doesn't have the quality of Barisic as a top level footballer.
In saying that, I wish Barisic had the same desire, passion and commitment as Halliday has every time he pulls in the Famous blue jersey👍.

Hi fellow bears. Been reading this site for over a year now and enjoy the banter. Just like to put something out there to see what other folk think. I think imo we would be better off if we learned to play a settled side and only made changes for injuries. Bans or loss of form. I hate to see the constant changes just to give game time. It seems to unsettle the side. Surely when Mr Gerrard decides who his most reliable 11 are. They stay in the side. These are professional athletes who are asked to play 90 minutes a maximum of twice a week. Rangers players from the past would never have looked to be rested in meaningful matches. Go easy on me. First time and hopefully it's always about opinions.

I agree wolfman, this needless change is the reason for our inconsistencies of times gone by. We never found a settled side last year until morelos got banned and katic got back in the team. 👍.

Wolfman. I agree too and don't often agree with coldo, lol. Keep a stable, consistent 11 and only make changes when necessary, i. e. injury, suspension or loss of form. Remember Claudio Ranieri, the 'Tinkerman', though to be fair he did OK at Leicester City!

I kind of agree to sticking with a settled side but the season is a long one and I do think we've strengthened our 1st team squad. Coldo don't think we'll ever agree regarding Morelos. 3-0 tomorrow, killie are all over the shop just now.

I think he'll have his strongest 11 in mind, but will rotate when necessary. We were inconsistent last season because the squad beneath the first 11 was weak. This year we are stronger in every department I think, except maybe left wing as we had Kent last year and won't this year.

TBH we were better having a hiccup against Prog-N in Luxembourg as the tie was won. Hopefully the lads will do the business againt Killie and not throw away points to them this year. At this moment let's just look for a win - any margin will do, and not worry about goal difference before we have kicked a ball.

Right Lads, Predictions, Hopes and Fears for the season ahead?
I believe we will win the title. We've strengthened the squad and haven't lost too many key players ( we would all have loved Kent back but that ship looks to have sailed now ) .
I can't see us qualifying for the Europa League group stages what with the quality of teams we may face but with a bit of luck, you never know.
I also believe we will win one of the domestic cups.
I only hope that Davis can stay fit. Kamara doesn't look the same player without him.
Fear? None from a Rangers point of view. But with that lot chasing the magical 9IAR ( something I've seen my team do ) never mind the mythical 10, I expect the paranoia to be ripping right out of them from all levels and the Compliance Officer to be very busy! Even at their recent Celtic Convention at the SECC, the highlight of the Q and A sessions was a Stop the 10 seminar! 😱
We'll do our talking on the pitch and leave the always cheated, never defeated to their own thoughts. Why even Sutton has admitted he was wrong about Dunfermline ( not Dave1 ) after all these years.

winning league would be great but i think we might come up a tad short still.
Europa wise, i can see us doing quite well, and maybe past the group this year. our defence is good, but still feel we are short of defence breakers, especially in midfield, unlike our main rivals, who will remain nameless.

If we keep Morelos and he can stay on the pitch for 90 minutes I believe we'll win the league. We've strengthened with a few great players. If Morelos hasn't learned his lesson and replicates last season all bets are off. This excuse of playing on the edge is absolute nonsense. Derek Parlane, Ally McCoist, Mark Hately great examples of our greatest number 9s and few red cards.

Celtic are rightly still favourites to win the league. However that does not mean we cant, we have a chance but a lot of things have to work out for us for that to happen along with a dip in form from Celtic. As I said before, I would sign Cosgrove at the last minute, A. that would seriously weaken a main rival and B. give us that target man we need.

Been having this conversation for a few weeks now with my mates n none of can seem to agree 100%. the question is;

Out of all the players on our books at the moment,

1. Who would you move on in this window.

2. Who is a MUST keep to help us stop 9/ 10IAR

Personally I think:

Morelos: Regardless of temperament it is very hard to replace 30 goals a season regardless of price.

Tav: Goals/ Assists speak for themselves, also looking at a much more mature player than we've seen over the past couple of years. And I don't think any English teams will pay a price worth us thinking about at the moment.

Arfield: Don't even have to say anything about him imo our best player last 6 months of the season

Katic: In my opinion our best Centre Half from what I've seen so far although very excited about this edmunson boy, very sharp, quick and good with the ball at his feet.

Katic makes quite a lot of mistakes although i do like him. i think big helander and edmunson will be better. honestly think goldson is now our worst centre half. Even tho he's the gaffers 1st pick.

anyone who meets our valuation is simple answer. We are a selling club like most others.
Issue is up here, the big english sides are very reluctant to buy our players unless they have proved themselves in europe as they don't rate our league.
Morelos hasn't done well enough V the big sides, and his temprement is a big? ; at moment.

think all of our centre backs are prone to a wee mistake, thought the partnership between katic and goldson was solid when they had a run of games behind them, no I don't think goldson is our best CB I would start edmundson purely down to the pace of the boy, not scared from a challenge either, totally agree with you struth I am fairly confident nobody is going to "Blow us out the water" as such with an offer on morelos because of his track record, and unless someone does I don't think we should be selling any starters should be sold, purely because we have 2 more attempts at stopping them in their bid for 10iar which is why I think we need these players.

tall striker, who would you have and who would you drop. tall striker is only any good if we can get a cross in and we aren't very good at that. ball on the ground is the way Gerrard prefers to play.

Were are bickering for the same reason - we love our club and care, but WE know that's an understatement!
The facts - to win a stand alone SPL game
1. Our Defence is good enough
2. Our Midfield is good enough
3. Our Wing play is good enough
4. Our Creative play is good enough
5. Our Strikers are good enough

The HARD Facts - to win the league.
1. Our Defence is good enough
2. Our Midfield is good enough
3. Our Wingers are not good enough
4. Our Creative play is not good enough.
5. Our Strikers are not tall enough.

In my dreams we need a 6'2 gers supporting battering ram to complement Alf and Daf.

Unless the tic have a serious regressive step we will not win the league with our current squad.

Show me where the serious upgrade has happened apart from Aribo.

The upgrade i feel is there in the quality of squad depth mate. We have a much stronger bench than last season. Like you i would really like us to go and sign a tall, strong striker, who's good in the air. I would be happy with another 2 signings before the window closes.
Like i said, an old fashioned centre forward and i still think there's a chance, ryan kent.

We lost the league by 9 points, 3 wins short. We lost silly points after new year. For the last few games (without Morelos) we were great, ignoring the last match v Killie which was meaningless. I think the squad is good enough to win the league and Lennon is a different manager from Brenda. They are nothing special. As for a centre forward, dare I mention Hardie could have been given a chance!? I'm optimistic and go for 2-0 the Gers tomorrow.

We dropped a lot of points last year in first half of season. Draws to Aberdeen, Motherwell, Dundee, Kilmarnock, Hibs then losing to livingstone and them.

People forget though we started last season through without Davis and defoe, and even when they signed they took a couple of months to get up to match fitness.

We are beyond a doubt in my mind stronger at the start of this season than last.

As for strikers not tall enough - you would think Griffiths and efouard are titans based on that comment and forget we had lafferty and sadiq at this point last year. We were top scorers in the league last season, and now we have a fully fit defoe from the beginning + Greg Stewart as backup.

Bluetoon, no I don't mean that at all. I mean Stewart as backup 3rd striker - in place of Sadiq who we had last season. Stewart can also play off striker or wide as backup too.

Morelos and Defoe I think will be rotated 60 mins / 30 minuntes as they have been all pre season. Last season lafferty was brought on to change the game, this season it will be defoe/ Morelos depending on who starts.

In hindsight, lafferty wasn't even there at start of season - he was still at hearts and didn't sign until closer to end of window. Whatever way you look at it we are stronger now up top than we were at start of last season. Midfield is evideny stronger, defence is stronger too. The only grey area is Jones replacing Kent, but we are forgetting Murphy to come back in.
