I would love to see Barry Ferguson take the reigns. He know what's needed and doesn't mess about. Bring back Bazza!

01 Feb 2017 04:33:30
Would love to see Barry back at Ibrox, BUT don't think that now is the time, maybe 2-3yrs time. He will manage at Ibrox but best to wait and our Club will be in a stronger position and it will not do Barry any harm to keep developing AND learning his trade. Definetly do not want to rush that one.

01 Feb 2017 06:41:29
You would think David weir knows what it takes and means to be at rangers but that isn't happening.

Who ever is in charge with no money being spent they will always struggle when £250k is all we can spend.

01 Feb 2017 10:32:12
It doesn't matter if you bring in Barry Ferguson or Alex Ferguson for that matter until we get decent investment we are playing for second spot.

01 Feb 2017 12:51:06
Would love to see Barry Ferguson back at some point but he is nowhere near that level yet. Been poor at Clyde considering they have had the biggest Budget in League 2 for the last 3 years.

01 Feb 2017 13:00:22
One of barry ferguson's biggest fans when he was a player but what are you on Broxi bear from ibrox? Bring back baz just now as manager, no chance! He's done absolutely nothing as a manager! What do you base your crazy assumption on?

01 Feb 2017 18:29:13
Again now is not the time for Barry for a lot of reasons but he will manage the Gers, more I think about it, 4-5yrs before thinkin about his return

31 Jan 2017 20:38:53
Jota having a great game for Brentford tonight I wonder what his contract situation is as he looks good on this showing.

I'm a little surprised we haven't signed anyone yet on a pre-contract there must be a few decent players out there. The loan signings does raise a bit of doubt over the boards backing of Warburton which is a shame as he hadn't had any decent money to spend and had a bit of bad luck with players who may turn out to be good buys being injured.

31 Jan 2017 23:20:57
It's clear the board haven't been impressed with Warburton's transfer dealings and it's hard to blame them. £1.8m for a striker who can't score in Scotland yet Kilmarnock can pick up a guy for free and sell him for £800k in 6 months.

31 Jan 2017 23:24:11
I would say £1.8m is decent money to spend and look what he got for that

01 Feb 2017 08:27:15
If you think we have actually spent 1.8 million on garner your bonkers. He probably has to score 50 goals in a year to get the add ons up to that. More than likely less than a million.

01 Feb 2017 08:59:53
Cee

In your last sentence you have said "more likely" which means you don't know so how can you call anyone bonkers when you said yourself you don't know what was paid and therefor can't prove us wrong?

01 Feb 2017 10:24:29
I think we actually paid £10m for Garner but we get a discount if he doesn't score 50 goals in a season. Probs we'll only pay £1.8m!

More than likely I have no idea what the deal was but I try to put a positive slant on it!

on our loan signings emerson hyndman and jon toral. i would really hope that rangers are already working on a longer term loan deal, for bournemouth playmaker emerson hyndman. instead of the original 6 month loan deal, i hope that we can work something out with bournemouth, to make this an 18 month loan deal! hyndman is exactly what we're needing in our midfield!

he's very direct with his forward passing, he has a killer ball in him, which can split a defence, wide open, he never wastes a ball, never hides and always makes himself available in space, to take the ball! this young man has a big future and is a tremendous, playmaking midfielder! in the 2 games i've seen him play for us, we look much more purposeful in midfield, with much faster, forward passing! would love him permanently but know there's no chance of that!

this brings me on nicely to jon toral. i truly think we have a chance of keeping him permanently, as he's out of contract at arsenal, at the end of the season. he's a very good flair player, with a terrific left peg! he's a goalscoring type attacking midfielder, who also creates chances for himself and others! also good dead ball footballer, with terrific delivery! so these 2 loan players have already made a helluva difference to our central midfield and attacking midfield! imo these 2 players will guarantee, we finish 2nd in the league! so all in all, although there loan deals, they are very good additions and its been very good business for rangers, in january, irrespective if they're loan deals or not! well done mark warburton for securing these 2 very good midfielders, that will make the difference!

if only dk would back you a wee bit more! really hope warbs is still this football clubs manager for next season! he deserves that chance, although i do have my doubts if he will be still here, going by what happened at our recent board meeting! if reports are true, warbs took an absolute grilling from dk!

01 Feb 2017 18:08:18
What was he grilled about?
Must have been the signings he made particularly Barton, Senderos, Kranjcar and possibly Garner.

01 Feb 2017 19:46:37
Good post Supercoop. Too much being read into the board meeting largely due to coverage and spinning by the daily rebel. A purpose of a board meeting is to ask questions and make executives responsible and accountable.

31 Jan 2017 19:14:02
if the new keeper is the only player we spend money on in this transfer window you have to see the irony in spending money on a back up for arguable our best player and strongest position

31 Jan 2017 20:37:46
Gilks wanted away so they got a new keeper in to allow him to go rather than keep a player who was unhappy with his role a really don't see the problem

31 Jan 2017 22:26:05
He's only recently found enough form to be classed as one of our best players and that was probably down to Gilks breathing down his neck. He's gone and a new, younger model takes over the job of keeping up the standards that real competition brings. A good move.

31 Jan 2017 16:44:52
David king clearly doesn't think warburton is the man to take us forward. and this is why no funds have been released and rumours of replacement coming in for the summer.
I feel warburton has put himself in this situation with his transfer dealings and no gap between us aberdeen.

To the people saying he hasn't had no money to spend look at the wages some of these players are on signing on fees paid and development fees paid and you will see he has had money to spend he has just not chosen the right players and we could have got better value for money in the door.

As for saying he has been unlucky with injuries he new these players had injury problems when he signed them yet still chose to sign them now he is paying the price for it.

The joey barton signing the manager knew what he was getting when he signed him and should have managed him better if not should not have brought him in.

31 Jan 2017 18:51:14
Im not really sure what you were expecting first season up, barton situation hey it happens at all clubs never worked out it happens even now he's looking at a lengthy ban for betting. I've got to be honest we have to buy cheap then sell on make money on relatively unknown players aka the new keeper who is highly rated. we can't challenge celtic due to all round infrastructure, we've got ashleys noose around our neck, we can't spend 4 million on a player which tbh these days is nothing average players are going for 15, i like warbs and i think he'll get it right he works with these players aday in day out so will know them better than you or i

31 Jan 2017 18:59:56
dave king will go before warburton.

31 Jan 2017 19:53:07
Stmonkey

Yeah but he has had a vastly superior budget to Aberdeen but we are no better than they are. Also can you hinestk say he has improved any of his cheap signings to get decent transfer fees from them? He has failed and he will either go this summer or next

31 Jan 2017 20:11:59
I hope that you are correct Callam R

31 Jan 2017 21:53:23
Listen craig8688, because we had a bigger budget than aberdeen doesn't mean you then have the god given right to finish way miles in front of them! that's not how football works my friend, try and understand that! Also remember when you're jumping up a level, it can take time to adjust irrespective to who you sign and because we've got a bigger budget than the sheep and hearts for that matter! Try and grasp the concept of football as its never black and white as you put it, irrespective of having a bigger budget! Give the manager and the team a break why don't you! Judge them at the end of the season! We'll finish 2nd, imo there's no doubt about it!

31 Jan 2017 22:00:15
we are operating at a loss, there are no funds. until we get the monkey off our back and generate funds then it is what it is

31 Jan 2017 22:15:22
DK clearly doesn't think warbs is the man tibetans us forward and this is why no funds have been released.

what funds are you referring to we are running at a loss relying on loans to keep us going from
day to day - there are no funds

also exactly what wages are the players on ?

fed up hearing this dross unless you are a) the player b) his agent or c) an employee of the club you are speculating

31 Jan 2017 22:02:53
so elighten us what wages are these players on?

as for DK clearly not rating warbs hence the reason no funds have been released exactly what funds are you relating to?

we are in debt, running at a loss and relying on soft loans to keep us afloat. throw in the fact we have literally zero retail income and nothing from europe what 'funds' are you relating too?

just a stab in the dark, but maybe DK is trying to run us prudently so past catastrophes don't re-occur

just a thought

31 Jan 2017 22:18:43
for starters smokey we could have got better players for the wages some of these guys are on and could be closer to celtic or at least have a gap between us and aberdeen so barton is one player so why have the rest of signings not worked out al the lads brough in this summer only garner and hill a gauranteed football then we going spend 250k on a goalkeeper to sit on bench these players warburton has brought are not good enough in future not many off them will sold for profit as for your 4 million price on players we can get better players for well less than that fact matter is warburton has not got value for money and this is critacal for our future

31 Jan 2017 23:13:52
Supercooper

So why are Celtic so far ahead of us then? Take it then it's nothing to do with their superior budget? Something your God Warburton has commented on and said don't judge me against Celtic due to their superior budget. Either way your argument doesn't add up

01 Feb 2017 08:09:07
Its our firat season back in the league, aberdeen have been celtic contenders for the past few seasons and to be fair done pretty well at it they are a strong team due to the fact theve played together for so long, the players are on good money but need more time in this league, we have had and will have wobbles, i also agree king will go first as he's done his job of stabilising us but he's never here now

01 Feb 2017 13:49:01
b16jk do your homework and u will find out how much these players are on ruffly just for example garner 12 k week and sendoros 16k week. all i am saying about the funds and warburton do not be suprised if there is funds there in summer and warburton is replaced.

if i am wrong i will come back on and admit i got it wrong supercoopereleven if our buget was spent more wisely there would have been a gap this is my point can you seriously say warburton has added value with players he has brought in how many will be sold for profit.

yeh we may do finish second we will wait and see but on his transfer dealings so far warburtons not got value for money this is critical for our club to make money buy selling players on so far i can not see any value part from possibly windass rossiter if ever fit and mackay who was already hear

01 Feb 2017 13:17:52
Ive got to agree supercoop, if that was the way football worked there would be no point going to watch it as we would all know the outcome before a ball was kicked. sure having a bigger budget helps but the main thing about being a successful team is down to shape, systems, tactics, coaching

31 Jan 2017 16:18:27
Anybody think we should throw alnwick in the deep end and start him tomorow ?? Personly a think the highlights I've saw ov him he will proove to b better than wes !

31 Jan 2017 17:21:53
Nope don't agree at all Ardorfc! Wes foderingham starts at tynecastle without a doubt, as far as i'm concerned! At this moment in time foderingham is a better keeper than alnwick, simple as that!

31 Jan 2017 17:23:46
Warbs threw Senderos in at the deepend v Celtic and managed to ruin the guys reputation, he wasn't match fit and Warbs should have clearly known that but Senderos is still getting stick from the fans for what happened.

31 Jan 2017 17:20:06
Big Fod has been great this season.

31 Jan 2017 19:03:33
Nope!

31 Jan 2017 21:31:05
Foderingham will start against Hearts and the first time we might see Alnwick in a Rangers jersey will be the cup game v Morton.

31 Jan 2017 22:16:57
If you've got the jersey it should be yours until you are no longer earning it. The same principle should be applied to every position. That's called competition and it imporves everybody's performances.

31 Jan 2017 22:25:06
This new keeper came from a team 18th in English Second division having shipped in 48 goals in the league this season. He is a cracker that's why he cost us 250k

31 Jan 2017 22:25:06

31 Jan 2017 14:05:17
If the rumours are true about King n Co not trusting Warburton anymore then I am lost on it!

I am not a warburton fan, however the last few weeks have seen a decent improvement on results. If we lost out on Oxford due to the policy of one out one in then for me it's clear to see that the board are not up to task. To not back Warburton at this stage is ridiculous and that's coming from me who would have kicked out the management team well before Christmas!!

Anyway good luck to the boys for the Hearts game. All the good results lately could come crashing down however I think we have the beating of them. Emerson to continue his scoring form.

31 Jan 2017 16:25:04
So what your saying is the board is crap, the gaffer should have been sacked, but give him money to spend even though it costs about 30 million a yr to run the club, btw who do you think is making up the diff, it's the board, we can't spend what we don't have

31 Jan 2017 16:52:07
It's a load of nonsense put about by the Daily Rhebel and their Celtic-fanatic sports desk, nothing else. Forget it, it's lies.

31 Jan 2017 16:40:40
if signings are not working out it stands to reason there must be some flak going about krankar and barton were unavoidable senderos total madness ury still out on garner rossiter was let go due to fitness dodo ury still out hodson looks reasonable at fullback and hill the best of the bunch we have seen better perormances of late and a draw against celtic would have been ust warburton has varied his tactics which have helped on another note chelsea £4m offer for gordon i would xay was to much they would be better paying £2m for foderingham whose distribuition i far superior to gordons and as good a shotstopper the lad has come on leaps and bounds this season and next to b mackay is our most sellable players

31 Jan 2017 17:41:54
largebill. phew! Try one of these, . ! ?

31 Jan 2017 17:49:34
Kranjcar started the season poorly but unfortunately he was injured when his form started to improve.
Rossiter looked good in the DM role but he was also injured and as you say the jury is still out on Garner due to his lack of goals.
I am surprised Senderos has not been released in the January transfer window.
Dodoo has not been given a run in the team but with the form Miller is in who can blame Warburton for not giving him game time.
Hodson is better defensively than Tav but offensively Tav offers more.
It would have been great if another CB was brought in during the current transfer window.
Our aim this season is to finish ahead of Hearts and Aberdeen and so far we are on course to do this but one game at a time.

31 Jan 2017 19:55:46
@delboy

If the rumours are true then the timing of the board is a joke considering we are having our best run this season. This board are rudderless that's proving to be the case as time goes by. Where is King?

31 Jan 2017 12:18:46
So let me get this straight. We choose to spend what little money we have on a second choice GK.

Can't believe this hasn't been made more of an issue on here.

Unreal

31 Jan 2017 12:25:15
Gilks has gone for similar fee. No cash spent

31 Jan 2017 12:38:04
What part of we can't afford to buy players don't you understand, we have took in roughly 18million in season ticket sales, it costs about 30 million to run the club for a year, so who do you think is putting up the cash, the bloody board, give them a break, they are doing a great job

31 Jan 2017 12:43:35
Scotty123 it is my understanding that gilks left for free therefore money spent on a replacement bench keeper imo makes no sense at all but what does with Rangers these days

31 Jan 2017 12:58:48
Wigan sign Matt Gilks for undisclosed Fee. So there was a fee involved.

31 Jan 2017 13:07:07
wasting money on all these players. why not just have 11 and tell them not to get injured

unreal

31 Jan 2017 16:29:24
We have secured a young proven replacement with sell on value and upgraded quality of the squad. What is the issue?

31 jan 2017 16:15:43
doesnt matter that we spent 250 k on a keeper as we had to get a replacement for gilks .

gilks was too good a keeper to be on the bench

31 Jan 2017 23:07:21
Fd

How can you say we have upgraded the quality of the squad when he hasn't played for the club yet?

31 Jan 2017 11:56:49
Why are we not offering a Pre contract to Sam Nicholson of Hearts he is a quality young player and would be the ideal replacement for Barrie Mckay if he was sold in the summer.

31 Jan 2017 12:18:12
Are you drunk mate, he would never replace Barrie McKay lmfas

31 Jan 2017 13:46:53
He could play with mckay!

31 Jan 2017 15:46:47
Don't think Nicholson would be a popular choice at Tynecastle if he signed pre contract just now.

31 Jan 2017 16:16:36
boy has no where near the talent of McKay mate get a grip.

he is good but McKay is way better

31 Jan 2017 09:26:18
You know how good your team is when there is not one of our so called 'stars' subject to a transfer rumour. MW is not even getting a mention now for every managerial vacancy down south. Gilmour appears to be the only Ger in demand and Gilks is looking for first team football. Changed days indeed.

31 Jan 2017 11:22:20
Windass is wanted by Hull, Gilks has gone, and Mckay is wanted

Theres 3 off the top of my head

31 Jan 2017 13:47:14
Wolves readying a 13.5 million offer for miller.

31 Jan 2017 15:41:14
mckay has been linked and gilks is away. and that's a good thing anyways we don't want players to go big list of the injured players as it is

31 Jan 2017 23:31:01
Windass to Hull is just paper talk and if anyone seriously thinks Leipzig or anyone else would bid £6m for McKay then they are clearly on something

31 Jan 2017 23:31:01

31 Jan 2017 09:20:27
£250,000 would be money well spent on Liam Boyce.

Sell O'Halloran now take the £200,000 and sign Sam Nicholson for a development fee.

Back 4/ 5 will be the same for remainder of season.

31 Jan 2017 10:58:37
Get nicholson and keep ohalloran. Would Boyce really improve the team?

31 Jan 2017 11:57:38
Boyce would laugh at yous

31 Jan 2017 13:47:41
Aye he laughs at the quotes for dembele when he has more spl goals than him in less games hahahahhaa

31 Jan 2017 15:33:19
Like the way wee laugh at yous cee when yous go from crisis to crisis loans lmfao

31 Jan 2017 16:14:22
the back four aren't the problem we need at least one quality cb and for me none of our guys cut it .

big clint is solid but too slow sederos is well past his sell by date and stealing a wage.

Wilson hasn't lived up to potential and actually looks lazy on the pitch imo,
Kiernan. awfull.

id like to see these guys upping their game especially Wilson as we all know he can do a lot lot better

31 Jan 2017 17:01:37
The same Dembele who has scored more goals against your club than your star striker (take your pick of which one out the 3 that is btw) has scored for your club all season? hahahaaa

31 Jan 2017 08:38:03
I know the transfer windows not closed yet but I can't help but feel disappointment that we haven't taken anyone in at the back
Don't get me wrong I'm pleased with the three we have taken in
I still think we are far too weak in central defence so really wanted someone in to challenge there
Senderos must be shocking in training if he can't get a game at all (Alnwick probably has a better chance of playing centre half than Senderos)

I feel the existing defensive options will lose is a few more games between now and the end of the season

Fingers crossed we can still get some in

31 Jan 2017 10:17:25
Are you surprised? We've been crying out for a quality CB since last season. I really don't know what is going through MW's and DW's heads regarding our defence.

31 Jan 2017 11:36:55
I fully understand the concerns about our defence but surely the real issue is we can't score enough goals? Not a great fan of over analysing but consider this! Position in league table determined by points obviously but over 30 odd years of devouring football info it has been clear that goal difference is also a good indicator of where a team will sit in the the table. Our good is pathetic! If we discount the Celtic 5-1 game we would have conceded less than 1 goal a game on average. This is not disastrous so to improve good the obvious thing to do is score more. If we score more the other team is more likely to be chasing the game so will have to open up and we will score even more. good improved = more points. Possession with no end product is literally pointless so come on guys more goals please! Think Hyndman will help with this; quality on the ball and very positive/ direct. A real breath of fresh air! Let's shoot for goals and grab second place. Need something to cheer so let's put Hearts to the sword tomorrow.

31 Jan 2017 12:23:33
While I can agree we need to defend better but imo that's not the problem, we don't score enough goals, we badly need a decent striker, a kris Boyd type of player, someone who just scores goals, our goals per game is a joke, even hearts and the sheep have scored more and Celtic have prob scored 3 times as many as us, not good enough from a rangers team imo

31 Jan 2017 16:17:10
hope these guys we got in hit the ground running and help us to stroll away from the sheep.

defence must be the priority in the summer along with a striker that can actually score a goal

31 Jan 2017 03:52:50

interesting to note that a few of our loanees out at other clubs are only getting a few minutes here and there. Hardly likely to learn anything nor do their careers any good, they would be better and fitter playing in our under 20's team

31 Jan 2017 11:24:32
A few of them often come back to play for the U20's anyway if they don't get game time.

31 Jan 2017 12:30:14
Wrong they have had plenty of game time, Liam Kelly is first choice keeper at livi
Hardie has had plenty of game time, so has Jordan Thomson, crooks hasn't had much yet, but he's only been there for 2 games, there's a couple other players who I forget, I think wee mcCrorie is one who has also just went on loan
