ALLY
You are spot on mate, there is no war chest, and I don't even know if we are living within our means, having to borrow money to pay off loans (to the Fat man) etc.
Am I right in believing that the majority of monies from Gers merchandise is lining the Fat man's pocket, and will continue to do so because of a 7 year notice period? ☹
Ashley is a vindictive see you next Tuesday, billionaire, who clearly doesn't give two hoots what happens to our club, so can someone tell me why he still has a stake in Rangers?

I'm guessing it's because, partly we were needing the money at the time of his 'investment' (plus his involvements with CW and CG) and partly because there simply isn't any money to buy out his stake.
I also think that now, he is hanging onto them just for spite, as money is clearly no object to a billionaire!

31 Jan 2016 22:28:35
To buy out his stake he would need to be willing to sell and that doesn't look like happening anytime soon.

31 Jan 2016 22:57:33
Green gave him the deal and then spent over a million of the IPO money contesting it.
Then divied up the the million odds with his over-priced lawyers. All above board and clean as a whistle, nigh on impossible to prove.

01 Feb 2016 09:09:50
Obvcourse we aren't living within our means! We are playing in the championship and were running at a massive loss before king took over, it's not as big a loss now though is it?

31 Jan 2016 19:14:34
Just saw that laffertys loan deal to sion has fell through, now i know a lot of gers fans like to hold a grudge but i'd take him back on a loan to the end of the season. Big and mobile which is ideal for what we need up top and he'll defo perform with the euros round the corner. I know this post will get a lot of dislikes but let's try move on from the past lads.

31 Jan 2016 20:33:38
Gaffer wouldn't touch him he's too much trouble, were trying to build a football team . I don't want him back its not going to happen anyway.

31 Jan 2016 21:32:56
Bongo I'm one for letting things go but really don't know if the big man will fit into the system, but if he did come in and rattle the goals in would love it .

31 Jan 2016 22:10:41
Nae grudge with lafferty he is just shite.

31 Jan 2016 22:12:25
It is not about holding a grudge, he is a waste of a jersey. One of Walter's worst ever signings!

31 Jan 2016 22:13:28
I would him as a player! Put to the side as he's a pure nugget and acts like a wean! But he could just give us something different up top, powerful, fast, knows where the goal is, but, big but he's not what MW and DW would be looking for! They look for adding value on and off, he can't do that off the pitch, check out his interview with NI on there last group game. Pure n utter solid!

31 Jan 2016 22:14:18
Miller23,I think you need to move on from the past mate. Lafferty is not what we need. If you want ex players try weiss, would love that boy back.

31 Jan 2016 20:54:16
Op if he was to be signed he would go on strike after he signed on the dotted line, like he done the last time, trouble maker also, so it's a big no from me.

31 Jan 2016 23:15:13
If you're bringing in somebody that height, you want an ariel threat. I never seen him win a header once for the Gers. Not much in the way of bottle if I remember either.

31 Jan 2016 16:18:17
Hope McKay signs new contract.

31 Jan 2016 17:34:10
Just watched highlights of the hibs game from yesterday and wondered whether or not Cummings got booked for celebrating in front of the saints fans. Think i know the answer but thought i'd ask.

31 Jan 2016 17:50:25
Seen the mad chicken dance he performed. Made an arse of it more than anything.

31 Jan 2016 18:16:46
Even so sounezz. He coulda started a riot lol Done that against us at ibrox and ended up looking like a tool by the time the full time whistle went πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

31 Jan 2016 18:58:49
Blueboy90, said the exact thing to my mate s, maybe it is because he is not a Gers player, when Cummings scored against us he ran straight for us in the east enclosure and we were just applauding a wonderful finish!
Just hope all the officials that are supervising our games are intelligent enough to realise that TV does not lie!

31 Jan 2016 20:10:16
Exactly Brian ill say i have no problem with what he done but it should be the same rule for all just not just certain cases.

31 Jan 2016 20:38:35
Every time we play hibs he scores, runs right in front of where I sit cupping his ear and shhing the fans and not once have I ever thought he should be booked lol. Remember Frederic piquionne came off the bench scored the goal to keep them up and got booked for running into the crowd and was sent off lol .

01 Feb 2016 09:10:56
I meant scored a goal for west ham to keep them up **.

31 Jan 2016 17:12:10
Staggies πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†.

31 Jan 2016 17:25:53
Ha, ha, we are the silly bhoys.

31 Jan 2016 17:30:48
That was a wonderful afternoon's viewing.

31 Jan 2016 17:43:45
All about the Ross, 'bout the Ross - No Treble
All about the Ross, 'bout the Ross - No Treble ;-)

31 Jan 2016 17:56:00
Bruisedbear usually have a wee look on the unwasheds site just to see what their whinging about, or who's upsetting the self proclaimed best fans in the world, & noticed you post and hold your own on said site, I hope you give them some this evening mate,

31 Jan 2016 19:01:59
sotonbear

Greetings. Yes, I like to dabble in a bit of banter but try to keep it above board. Given that they have generously generated a section dedicated to Rangers, it would be rude not to contribute once in a while.

Their banter section's going into meltdown at the moment!

31 Jan 2016 17:10:45
Rangers my big team an county my small team where i'm from so makes it even sweeter to put celtic out. final here i come but hopefuly next final i be there with the gers.

31 Jan 2016 18:43:17
There's only ONE team when your a teddy bear mate, that is the famous glasgow rangers, I support NO other in scotland or anywhere else on the planet my friend, its all about the rangers! No other team matters.

31 Jan 2016 20:43:48
As an old friend used to say, "Only ever supported 2 teams in my life, Rangers and whoever is playing Celtic", lol.

31 Jan 2016 20:28:46
That's right Warbs. I have a soft spot for Arsenal because of the club's connection with them, but I don't lose any sleep over their results. For me it's only about the Rangers looking forward to Kirkcaldy before we give Lillie a right doing at Ibrox next week.

31 Jan 2016 21:59:34
Sorry, it would need to be one or the other for me.

31 Jan 2016 16:58:22
I'll say it again. Are Celtic really that good! Despite the referee doing all he could to help them they couldn't get near County. I'll be waiting for all you negative posters coming back to me to tell me how we can't compete with that lot. Only one thing to say: Well done the Staggies! It's made my weekend! Ha ha Ronny must stay!

31 Jan 2016 17:12:16
aye the well-done the staggies another treble bites the dust.

31 Jan 2016 18:05:50
That Ronnie Deila Is Something Else Man, He's Certainly Made Me Roar Efter The Days Result, Well In Ross County =) Ronnie Defo Must Stay. Anyway Mon eh Gers WEARETHEPEOPLE .

31 Jan 2016 16:12:11
Staggies 2 Celtic 1.

The only downside is Celtic might sack Delia if they don't get a result and get somebody more competent in.

31 Jan 2016 17:02:18
Well done Ross County, absolutely deserve to have beaten that mob. Some filthy players on that team as well.
Looks like the treble is still a Cultic myth.

31 Jan 2016 17:04:22
3.1 what a weekend, well done the staggies, and a nice touch after the game lustig celebrating with Ross County lol, just waiting on the cries of masonic refereeing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

31 Jan 2016 17:06:47
Always cheated springs to mind. Well done County, hopefully win it now.

31 Jan 2016 17:09:17
You want a laugh? Check out the post-mortems on their wee live platform! LOL.

31 Jan 2016 19:41:12
Thought our defence played very well yesterday, Personally I find it strange that both Tav and Waggy have both not been at their best the last couple of games!

31 Jan 2016 20:31:43
Aye they have gone off the boil a bit lately. The good thing is others are stepping up and we are still winning. Looking forward to when Waggy finds his shooting boots again! All good!

31 Jan 2016 16:02:09
When you see Forrester play
Then you can see why they were
Only offered short term contracts
The guy may come on to a game but
Does not look a premier league
Player.

31 Jan 2016 18:08:16
bowmac your defo right about the short term contract Scenario's, a think personally we'll be bringin in quite a few players in summer and good quality ones, that's prob why we have so many players on loan and a few players not getting contracts renewed.

31 Jan 2016 16:41:52
That's y we were clever to offer a 6 month deal, good business Rangers.

31 Jan 2016 18:07:20
Surely Walsh is a better option, and he's our player?
Its a strange one for me but trust W.

31 Jan 2016 15:54:17
DON'T want Don Cowie he had a chance before and turned it down.

31 Jan 2016 22:16:55
Didn't even want him when we first tried.

31 Jan 2016 14:39:13
Afternoon fellow bears, a hard fought win yesterday, some good points to take out of it, young Mckay grows in stature every game, and we played some nice free flowing football at times, however Wilson is really not at the races decent strikers will go looking for him, maybe we should try and punt him out on loan, get some playing time in another defence, + the refereeing was almost as inept as at the morton game, I hope everyone's thawed out now that was bitter I could've cut glass with my nipples on the way home. Oh almost forgot Mon the Staggies πŸ˜‚.

31 Jan 2016 16:42:34
Shouldn't u eastenders be enjoying the hammering instead of coming on here and disagreeing with posts, in RD we trust. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜….

31 Jan 2016 17:19:22
Danny wilson was outstanding yesterday made at least tow last ditch blocks that stopped certain goals.

31 Jan 2016 19:33:23
That's his job mate, he did block a couple but all the same could've gave away 3,just not good enough, he's this year's version of moshni without the aggression.

31 Jan 2016 14:35:55
Liked the boy McKee against us for Morton constant digging in midfield just what we need anyone else agree?

31 Jan 2016 15:04:59
And the boy mcmanus thought he was outstanding.

31 Jan 2016 14:10:54
Just looked at Sunday Mail stats on yesterday's game. Rangers 1 shot on target, 0 corners and 3 bookings. Did they have someone at the game or do they just make up these stats as they are total rubbish.

31 Jan 2016 13:42:18
The whole management team are first class let's hope dave king and bears back them with at least two players? Weather there on loan or signed a few hard away games coming up .

31 Jan 2016 13:23:48
At half time yesterday in the copland road stand as usual we were talking about all things rangers and we all spoke about how since mark warburton and davie weir became our management team that our first team players don't get many injuries, we all agreed that its down to the training methods warbs has implemented since he became our manager in june last year and who himself and big davie weir have chosen as their backroom team, their methods are modern, thourough and first class, I would just like to throw this out there to all other teddy bears on this site and get their reactions to this topic.

31 Jan 2016 13:26:15
It is not just about Warburton and Weir, it is about the totally professional team that Warburton has put together.

Sadly, McCoist and McDowall were not fit for purpose but I blame Murray and Smith for those appointments. No one would turn down the opportunity to manage Rangers!

31 Jan 2016 14:01:55
15
I was talking about this as well last week with friends totally agree, the general opinion was it is because of fitness and training and general coaching of the players our team is full of young guys as well so possibly healing times are quicker great post!

31 Jan 2016 14:09:10
I agree with you all would add maybe there is a desire to play for Warburton that was missing before.

31 Jan 2016 15:06:32
Tom42,I did say it was down to the management team and the backroom team they've chosen, I didn't say it was just down to warburton mate.

31 Jan 2016 16:20:12
The team are undoubtedly fitter than last season, better coached and better looked after.

31 Jan 2016 20:13:46
Warbs15 I've got to agree with you and all above replies, after all there have been lots of meaty challenges against our players this season, there were a few crunchers yesterday as well, but yes the players get up and dust themselfs down and get on with it, it's define toy down to fitness, and this can only be down to the training ground methods thet m. w. has instilled at our place.

31 Jan 2016 12:13:18
Twice in a weak we were below our best and twice in a week we pick up three points.

Hope we don't get into a habit of playing poorly but saying "onto the next game, we have the three points in the bag".

Eight points can turn into zero very quick.

Forrester added very little yesterday, Warburton admitted to playing Halliday out of position and yesterday played Ball out of position, Wilson again puts the fear into every fan and we were saved on occasions by our impressive keeper.

Not good enough, transfer window is open, sign a Defensive midfielder, Ball can go to CDF and Halliday can move out of DFM.

You say you need experience you sign experience, don't live to regret it five games from now.

31 Jan 2016 13:38:44
You really think wilson puts the fear into every fan? He spends the full game covering for wallace kiernan and tav. When Wilson isn't playing we really miss his ability to play out from the back.

31 Jan 2016 14:11:03
Wilson is hopeless; Passing, positioning, pace no good.
wHAT AM I MISSING?

Yesterday was his best game for us so far but still made a lot of mistakes.

31 Jan 2016 14:59:38
I thought Wilson turned it around in the second half. Think someone maybe had a word with him, he was charging down everything after the break. I think there's a good defender in there somewhere, just not sure if him and Kiernan can play together.
McKay is fast becoming the best player in that team. He grows in confidence every game. I know I'll get peters for this but at times yesterday he reminded me of Laudrup the way he was running with that ball first half and tormenting the full back.
Well done tho a hard fought 3 points and to have taken maximum points since the last Falkirk defeat is great, put all our rivals firmly in their place. Could be 11 clear by tue and hibs will feel the pressure every game after that.
Let's get O'halloran in now and a CDM, even on loan.

31 Jan 2016 16:24:47
Think a lot of fans are being bit harsh. Our tactics make Wilson and Kiernan look bad at times. They are often faced with defending long balls over the top trying to hold a high line. Essentially they are in a foot race with every long ball. It takes a really good and quick defend to look accomplished doing that. They are also short of protection from midfield.

31 Jan 2016 10:50:09
just my thoughts about yesterday-

1. we knew it was BIG game
2. probably a bit nervy
3. we didn't lose a goal, or our heads either
4. we scored at the PERFECT time
5. we have belief on the park AND in the management team
6. we won the game, and are now 8 points ahead

let's just relax today and enjoy the moment, there are a few trapdoors still to come but let's take them one at a time.

31 Jan 2016 11:48:21
The weather didn't exactly help yesterday either and to keep a clean sheet was an excellent result.

31 Jan 2016 13:09:02
Falkirk dealt with the weather just fine. Tav is looking more exposed each game defensively and if I was a manager I'd be sending my winger out with instuctions to attack him. That was the boy Barr for Morton and Sibbald (I think) yesterday gave him a chasin.
I think he's getting a bit lazy because there is no-one to challenge him for his place.

31 Jan 2016 13:39:47
Well of the wingers come out and have a go at tav it also leaves more space for him to attack when we win the ball back.

31 Jan 2016 16:06:11
Works both ways when the other team are having a go.

31 Jan 2016 10:37:39
At the game yesterday and honestly thought warbs made an error with his changes. Harry forester should be no where near a Rangers jersey at this moment in time. Tab needs competition to keep him going. I would love us to sign a target man. As some of the balls that were put in yesterday would suit a ten foot striker. Short corners were useless.

31 Jan 2016 14:31:51
Short corners keep possession. Forrester for me once again didn't put a foot wrong and done quite well tbh.

31 Jan 2016 10:27:06
Two wins this week in difficult circumstances against half decent teams (Morton and Falkirk) and we have 6 points. Now 8 points clear of Hibs and games in hand don't mean a thing as opposed to points in the bag. I don't think there is anything between the top four or five in the Championship and at least 9 of the SPL teams. Yes, we'll need to improve in class to compete with Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts next season but strengthen the squad and we'll do just that. I think Rangers will win the title and Hibs will go up too with Dundee Utd and Kilmarnock going down.

31 Jan 2016 09:37:50
Was just thinking after another struggle against a decent side who u prob could class as a spl side maybe not a top 6 yes we got the 3 points. i think that if this is almost the same team we will use apart from the 2 stanley boys, we will find it hard to touch the top 4 sides that are there.

yes it sounds negative but we should beat falkirk no prob thats most games against them this has happened so just hoping we sign really good players in the summer for the big push. i am sure there will be coin there for it. Its' a must we finish behind celtic in the first season then win the next year then the mighty gers are back where we belong.

31 Jan 2016 10:09:34
Bigco, I can see where you are coming from mate but we have to look at this from another perspective. There is always going to be games like this throughout the course of any season no matter what league we are in and come the end of the season we may look at today's game as the difference between automatic promotion and going up through the play offs. Not a great performance but three much needed points. On another note I hope MW pulls tav to one side and have a serious word with the lad because he has seriously went off the ball.

31 Jan 2016 14:12:52
jim jam

he was man of match yesterday.!? /! ***.

31 Jan 2016 09:01:33
No sign of any of the POD'S (prophets of doom) posting their concerns about the obvious gulf in class between the top league and the Championship following the semi final defeat of Barcelona (St J) by wee Hibs yesterday. And before anybody mentions how Hibs have strengthened in the window I think I'm correct in saying Stokes didn't make the bench and Thomson was on the bench. Given the obvious fact that Rangers are the best team in the Championship, no?, (8 points clear) , would it not follow that a decent two or three additions in the summer would set us up nicely to do some damage in the top division next season? I'm not saying we will win the league next season as I think Celtic will still probably be a step too far, but surely we can at the very least do a Hearts? Some of the POD'S have already expressed views of bottom half misery. Really? Don't get me wrong displays such as yesterday's have to be kept to a minimum, but then we still won, didn't we? Really guys? And if anybody comes on to mention O'Halloran was so unsettled with all the transfer talk he didn't perform I'm not buying that either.

31 Jan 2016 09:49:23
Hit disagree if you like but at least put up an argument as to why you think we cannot compete in the top flight. This is what you are saying, isn't it?
Our players are not as good as the ones who played during the good times but I don't exactly see a Larsson, Thompson, Sutton or Petrox across the city either. Is it fair to say this? C'mon let's be 'avin you!

31 Jan 2016 10:14:25
Yup agree I've been saying all season that next year, with 3 or 4 good signings, we will be in the mix with Hearts and Aberdeen for second spot. I think top 4 finish in our first season back with this young team would be a great foundation.

31 Jan 2016 10:20:02
I gather u forgotton how st johnston wiped the floor with us. kilmarnock be a test but let's be honest. with players we got now with accrington boys we mid table team at best. way weplay our defence wide open. i say we have flat back 3.wallace an tav push into wing or left right mid an 2 up top. will have extra man in middle in halliday so most time will still be like playing with 3 up top but least we got security at the back.

31 Jan 2016 10:37:10
Agree with most of your points OP.

W&W doing a fantastic job but looking at this transfer window with Celtic signing a Danish international, a young player who not long ago cost over Β£10,000,000 and bringing Ryan Christie down from Inverness even with Delia's lack of managerial prowess they have gone a long way to reinstating the gap that had been narrowing quickly since Warbs took over.

31 Jan 2016 10:39:59
stokes was injured.

31 Jan 2016 10:45:22
I would expect us to be at the top half of the table next season. However, is that going to be good enough for many of our fans? Personally speaking I think we need to be realistic and realise we are miles behind Celtic and it will take time to bridge that gap but I'm not too sure everyone will be as patient as me.

At the minute not one of our players would get in the Celtic team and most of them are not even as good as their second choice players.

31 Jan 2016 10:53:15
Stokes is cup tied that's why he wasn't on the bench.

31 Jan 2016 11:19:30
you can judge on one cup game even our games if we can compete in the spfl. anything can happen in these games. we will only tell when we are playing week in week out. i think with our game platy and players wed compete in the league. not the fished article yet but wed give most a run for their money.

31 Jan 2016 11:31:53
By all accounts Hibs were by far the better side yesterday so where is this gulf?

31 Jan 2016 11:56:52
Hibs had an excellent result yesterday but we should remember that we lost to St Johnstone in the same competition. Next week against Kilmarnock should show how far we have come. Kilmarnock have just lost their manager, they are whipping boys for everyone right now and suffered a big defeat to Dundee United recently.

We should be expecting to show that we are ready for the SPL by hitting them for four or five. let's just wait and see.

Personally I reckon we are four or five quality players short for the SPL since I suspect that two out of three of Law, Shiels and Clark will go, (not that I believe that Clark should stay) , and we will lose our three loanees at the end of the season.

I can only hope that with our new management and scouting team we can uncover three or fours 'Sterling' type players for the defence, midfield and attack that mean we can make a real challenge for the league next season.

31 Jan 2016 12:04:08
Boss Hog, I reckon that you are being a bit unfair on some of our players and our manager is certainly miles ahead of Delia.

That said, we will need to seriously strengthen in the summer and with a bit of luck our new scouting system will pay dividends.

31 Jan 2016 12:16:36
Aye Camoo but plenty of people were coming on here shooting us down after the St Johnstone game and wasn't that a one off game? It can't work both ways.

31 Jan 2016 12:23:20
Naz
I agree about Celtic being a class apart at the moment. But the rest? Where have Aberdeen and Hearts got all this investment that will ensure they finish higher than us next year? Can we not attract a better class of player than either of them? Can we at least not do a Hearts next season? Are they really that far in front of us? Sorry guys just can't get my head round it. The people who think we can't finish at least in second place next season. I don't get it. And Celtic are better, yes, but look how they have bombed in Europe against sides with much less resources. And you can't say it was a one off game and all that pish because it happened a number of times. Is this team not there for the taking? Really?

31 Jan 2016 14:14:45
if stokes was cup tied why put him on the bench?

31 Jan 2016 08:51:57
I don't know why we are fretting over loosing out on a couple of players. Warbs hasn't brought in a bad player yet and is showing u can get exceptional players without spending Β£500k -Β£1m, I don't think we are a million miles away from that mob, this current team with crooks and windass coming in the summer. 2-3 other additions in the summer to an already great squad and I think we can definately mount a serious challenge. No point spending big in this league when the squad we have already is capable walking it.

31 Jan 2016 10:41:59
Agree we'll win the league easily enough but would any bear not prefer us to give new signings time to bed in?

As for signing 2 or 3 additions in the summer, well, Celtic have just shown they can easily outspend us on that front and have strengthened much more than us during this window.

A serious challenge for the title next season? No matter how good a manager Warbs is he'll struggle to mount any challenge unless real money is made available to him.

31 Jan 2016 08:50:46
It was a seriously frustrating game yesterday! Positives though. Wilson defended brilliantly - 3 key blocks to maintain a clean sheet. Ball looked solid in DM role. Was extremely busy and energetic. Zelalem looked much more solid than I've seen him previously. Weighing in with a slide tackle no less! Shame about his powder puff shot. King. I knew he would be a good signing but he stepped on and gave us 3 deserved points. Well chuffed!

31 Jan 2016 09:40:21
In my opinion zelalem isn't the type of player we need for the championship. I think he would be better suited probably against better teams when we need to defend and not give the ball away. But in the championship we need to break teams down and I don't think that's his game. I'm not doubting the lads ability at all just don't think he's suited to championship.
