01 Oct 2019 14:03:58
Ability - davis kent morelos
Value - morelos kent tav

You'd think barasic would be valuable being a croatian international but his performances aren't those expected for a croatian international, having said tht he has been really good the last few games and that ball for morelos goal on saturday was world class. Hopefully he kicks onšŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 18:42:33
Praise indeed! He may have a future.

01 Oct 2019 22:17:37
they donā€™t watch football if they think katic is top 3.

30 Sep 2019 18:26:02
I see ojo is running his mouth again. Gerrard should shut him up until he proves he has ability or lay's a glove on celtic šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 22:39:56
Exactly, he should have said he was joining the 2nd best team in Scotland!

Is it just me or does anyone else think Coldo has a love hate relationship with Ojo?

01 Oct 2019 08:48:16
His interview was very good what did he say that was ā€œrunning his mouthā€? When we play well we fell we can beat anyone šŸ˜‚ Coldo only has something in for the lad because he thinks Kentā€™s better the facts are his goals and assist for the season are almost on a par with Kent for previous season already and heā€™s not hit top form and itā€™s not even Xmas give the boy a break and get behind him heā€™s clearly talented or Klopp would have tried to punt him like he did Kent!

01 Oct 2019 11:41:27
I'd rather he done his talking on the park, it was only a few weeks ago that he couldn't lay a glove on them yet he is in the media talking a good game. šŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 11:46:00
Kent is better, by a country milešŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 12:10:41
Regarding ojo I think we will see the best of him in the second half of the season. Like Kent imo it will take him a wee while to settle into our playing style. So far his form has been up and down. He is young, coming to a massive club that expects to win every game. We have so far seen that he can be Brill but a little inconsistent very similar to Aribo. Both will come good imo.

01 Oct 2019 13:53:07
Coldo, if Ojo hasnā€™t done any talking on the park it would mean we draw 0-0 with Feyenoord šŸ™„. Kent doesnā€™t have that goal in his locker, itā€™s as simple as that. Theyā€™re completely different players but it doesnā€™t mean Ojo is crap. If you judged Kent up to this point last season Iā€™d say he was at a lower level than Ojo has been so give the guy a chance.

01 Oct 2019 14:23:18
Garbage blue89, mckay scored a screamer but wasn't any good. Kent's goal at celtic park, could ojo do that? Naw! Kent is 10x the player ojo isšŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 15:02:49
For goodness sake you guys, stop bitching about who's the best player, I'm delighted with the consistency shown by most of the team this season, Ojo has done his job, as will Kent, Ryan will take a few games to get up to Shey's level of match fitness for a start, so let's do a Celtic, 'all our players are magnificent'.

01 Oct 2019 15:51:59
I support every player who wears the rangers jersey but i have to agree with coldo, that ryan kent is better than ojo. Simple as that for me guys.
Kent has tremendous natural ability.
He will get better and better and will make us a helluva lot of money,
when he inevitably heads back to the english premier league.

01 Oct 2019 15:57:56
Why do we insist on comparing players but I agree with blue89 on this one that ojo has nearly done already this season what kent done the whole of last year but totally different players and as for saying has ojo scored at Celtic park no he hasn't but has Kent scored against feyenoord in the Europa league nope he hasn't but I like both them.

01 Oct 2019 16:14:33
I think what some on here are trying to point out to (mainly coldo) folk is that Ojo isn't a bad player and could become a great player. Constant dissing of one of our own players, whose contribution to the team so far this season has been pretty good, is to me, baffling.

01 Oct 2019 16:30:13
How ojo gets a game is baffling, stewart showed him up albeit one game for stewart but ojo has played plenty of games and has yet to put in a performance as good as stewart. šŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 18:49:29
Ojo has played 15 games, has 4 assists and 5 goals, including the winner against Feyenoord. Hope your a little less baffled Coldo.

01 Oct 2019 22:58:34
Ojo is awfulšŸ‘.

02 Oct 2019 11:17:11
Klopp and Stevie Gerrard think otherwise but u keep banging that same drum Coldo and youā€™ll look as daft as you did when u dug Morelos and Barasic out šŸ˜‚!

02 Oct 2019 14:16:25
Youā€™re right R1, how are Morelos and BB doing now anyway?

02 Oct 2019 19:25:37
I dug them out when they weren't up to it. True storyšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 18:23:01
I just watched the recording of Sportscene and had to smile at greetin' face Michael Stewart, who was obviously sick that the mighty Gers won 5-0! To be fair, he did reluctantly admit how good the Bears were on Saturday!

01 Oct 2019 11:42:26
I can't watch that rubbish doiger, poor excuse for punditsšŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 16:15:13
Michael Stewart is a f*nny.

30 Sep 2019 18:22:53
Dont get why we don't keep the same system every game regardless of who we play. we would've smashed celtic if we played same way we did sgainst the sheep. we looked unbelievable the other day. even against european teams same system. end of the day we should always play attacking football. much better than sitting like idiots waiting to maybe counter. makes it boring. every game should be played like a league decider or cup final regardless of opposition. any game just picture 11 scott browns smile and destroy.

30 Sep 2019 20:57:51
We changed the whole system of the team to play celtic which in my book is why we lost in manner we did. Massive mistake by gerrard.

01 Oct 2019 10:34:03
Absolutely, and even though it was a month ago, I still can't figure out why he changed it so drastically.

01 Oct 2019 11:43:15
He knew how to beat celtic, that's the frustrating part. šŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 15:05:42
I have a feeling that they will be the one's who drop the most points against the other teams this season, they have a really tough one on Sunday against Livingston, but let's wait and see, too early yet to foretell what will and won't happen.

30 Sep 2019 17:24:26
Loved reading about the rout of the meek, oops l mean sheep, the debate regarding best signings has been fantastic. My pick at the moment would be Ryan Jack. I'm sure he wasnt a Steve signing but l think he has grown massively into our team. Nice for him to pump that mob as well. Good for Greg Stewart as well. Oh and Briangersfan, next time I'm over l will try and aim for an unimportant and or daddy team, not sure how l manage to jinx our lads like against mhanks, that was unhappy flight back over the pond. I missed the game at the weekend too.

30 Sep 2019 19:46:23
ah so you were the reason we lost! why don't you just stay away all together canada bear! very hard to pick the best signings jermain has to be up there too just kiddin canada i'm only jealous you get to the games but anymore jinxes and your for the chop i work for the same security company that stewards ibrox so . will be on the look out!

30 Sep 2019 22:24:55
Defoe best signing get real.

01 Oct 2019 06:36:48
yes gannet based on the above question on ability and value i do think defoe should be up there. i never said he was the best signing that crown belongs to morelos in my humble opinion.

01 Oct 2019 11:44:26
I reckon if we hadn't signed defoe we would still have a petulant morelos. šŸ‘.

01 Oct 2019 11:47:15
Defoeā€™s value is not only what he does on the pitch.

His experience, attitude and focus will no doubt have played a big part in Alfā€™s turnaround this year.

Same with the others in the team so even if he only play 20% of matches we will benefit from improvements in the others.

30 Sep 2019 16:59:17
Clearly things are going very well for the 1st team which is brilliant and long may it continue. Our youth set up is now the envy of many teams throughout the UK. Youngsters want to come to Rangers and in fairness Gerrard is a huge part of that. Always snipes coming from ex celtic players who can see what's coming and don't like it but the reality is we do have a long term plan. Love him or hate him I cannot fault Dave King for effort. Yes he may make some mistakes along the way (Sports Direct being the main one) but I have a team I am proud of again and a lot of credit should be given to King. Remember fellow Rangers, when we start winning trophies again this year, be good winners, we were born that way :)

30 Sep 2019 17:27:30
Guys, the older fans amongst us will remember Bobby Russell a old fashioned No 8 signed from Shettleston Juniors, what a great player he turned out to be. Why would Shankland if he came to us be warming the bench, have we got so many natural scorers on board. I agree that it would have been worth a punt based on what I'm seeing now, after all we wasted Ā£2 million on Grezda.

30 Sep 2019 17:59:53
We should have snapped Shankland up when he left Ayr United, now weā€™ll have to pay a lot more but I think it would be money well spent as heā€™s obviously a natural goal scorer.

30 Sep 2019 19:53:09
commonsense the sports direct problem was there already before dave king came in yes he has a battle on his hands and it is and hasn't been easy but i believe we will rid our club of the bad sports direct deals.

01 Oct 2019 00:03:53
Well said Brian. people forget that . Mr king has and is manuvering us out of a very sticky situation that no one else was prepared to touch . The fact none of those people are now coming through our gates or sitting in our stands is testimony to his positive forward motions. Might not be pretty and is always open to getting slaughtered. even by our own glass half empty brigade but fir me we are progressing nicely. Ibrox was amazing on sat . Letā€™s try and get it like that all the time. For the first time at a league game we. werenā€™t reliant on the union bears although they played their part . I must admit though where we are has a huge huge slice of luck attached as well . Remember we nearly went for Mcinnes . šŸ™thank you lord.

01 Oct 2019 13:30:28
Lets just wait and see molsgoals.

01 Oct 2019 13:34:22
Ivger, we're obviously same era watching Bobby Russell. Always felt he was good player in mediocre side but always felt he could have been great if he added couple of stones.

01 Oct 2019 15:14:13
MBW, spot on mate, very lightweight but great vision, it's a bit sad that players don't come through much from the Juniors nowadays, as it would have stopped a lot of these crazy transfer fees for less than ordinary players. I said in another thread also, I was at Rugby Park the day big Colin Jackson made his debut in a 2-0 defeat, and got booed of the park, he also didn't turn out too bad, maybe some of our glass half empty fans should be a little more patient.

30 Sep 2019 14:57:28
Anybody have any ideas or thoughts on why we did not pursue Lawrence Shankland when he was at Ayr Utd? Seems crazy that he can score for fun, is a Rangers supporter and we didn't take a punt. Now we're going to have to spend some serious money to secure his services. I'm overseas and don't see or hear too much press on this guy other than his record seems to indicate that he knows where the goal is. Not a bad attribute when you think about how well Alfredo is going and where he came from. lesser league, young talent, unproven etc. I'd be keen to hear others views.

30 Sep 2019 15:21:57
Nicky Clark Mk. II.

30 Sep 2019 15:40:22
Scoring goals in the championship.

30 Sep 2019 15:56:45
I would have have took a punt for about Ā£200k. doesn't matter if its championship or not imo. Goals are goals.
Problem is he's not going to get much game time in our side .

30 Sep 2019 16:06:30
Would not be great for the guys career to come and sit on bench. 3rd choice. Cummings smashed the goals in the championship. And just wasnt good enough in top league.

30 Sep 2019 16:17:24
He was free as1974, no punt at all.

30 Sep 2019 16:28:20
We currently only have 2 strikers. What happens if one is suspended and the other injured? For me Shankland would have been ideal and wouldnā€™t have cost much.

30 Sep 2019 16:29:34
I wonder why no big club went for him in the summer? Plenty of clubs north and south of the border could do with a good goalscorer, the fact he ended up at Dundee utd says a lot to me.

30 Sep 2019 16:35:50
Du Dee utd are paying him a fortune that's why. Blew other clubs out the water he's apparently miles away there top earner on 5 grand a week according to a boy he played with at ayr.

30 Sep 2019 16:47:17
Souness, i know what you're saying mate, but because it didn't really work out for nicky clark, doesn't mean it would be the same for lawrence shankland. Everyone is different and we just don't know if shankland could make the step up, but we'll never know if we don't take a punt. You just never know, we could have the next ally mccoist on our hands, or like you said the next nicky clark. I would take the chance and sign him and see what happens.
He would choose rangers over celtic as he's a big bluenose.

30 Sep 2019 17:14:16
All you doom merchants out there who say shankland only scores goals because he is in a lesser league. He can only score goals in the league he is playing in. If he isn't given a chance at a bigger club how can he possibly prove himself. In that case we would never have bought Davie Cooper from clydebank (and before all the naysayers start I am not trying to compare him with the maestro) . I simply mean that you can never prove yourself if you are not given a chance. I don't think the boy would be expecting to start every week in front of alfie or jermaine defoe. He just simply needs a chance to show if he is capable at a higher level. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS THE FAMOUS.

30 Sep 2019 17:36:11
The lad has been around, including a spell with the sheep and didn't set the heather on fire. That said, he may be a late developer. The only problen is we would have to deal with that shower. I'd rather we didn't tbh.

30 Sep 2019 18:06:38
5 grand a week for teams down in England is f*ck all. Does anyone remember adam rooney, who played for the sheep. He went down to Salford and is meant to be Ā£8 grand a week! To suggest Dundee united blew other teams out the water on wages just seems like nonsense.

30 Sep 2019 18:27:04
Simply put, we don't want to secure his services as he is nowhere near good enough and is scoring a few goals at the level he's suited to. At 24 he's hardly a kid, Morelos was just 20 when he came to Rangers and he's a proven scorer and proper striker at the level we need.

30 Sep 2019 18:32:06
As1974 he wouldn't get any game time at all in our side.

30 Sep 2019 20:28:18
Mr grumpy outside rangers and celtic no other scottish club would have matched that and he wanted to stay in Scotland. So aye there offer blew other clubs out the water šŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 22:32:18
Shankland is not good enough and never will bešŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 20:59:12
Greg stewart is our 3rd striker.

30 Sep 2019 21:10:58
The sheep, Hearts and Hibs have boys on wages of at least that herewego55.

01 Oct 2019 00:17:01
I didn't say they didn't, that would be top of there structure though and they obviously weren't interested at the wsges utd would pay him. We should have took s punt and loaned him to an spl team for a year.

30 Sep 2019 14:33:29
Dont think so Ger78, in my opinion, he would be a lot better in midfield (on the right) if you actually watch his play, be spends most of his time forward and struggles to get back in time. We are missing some quality on the right after candeias left. We have kent and Barker and Jones for the left flank, need quality on the right. Also read an interview with him a couple of years ago, in which he says, he prefers the midfield. And to answer your question Yately01, i would drop ojo.

30 Sep 2019 15:18:49
Sorry Laudrup, it ainā€™t even my opinion, itā€™s our managers Mr Gerrardā€™s opinion as he picks the team and tactics, Iā€™m just explaining the way we set up. Plus every other manager before him also thinks this way about Tav. As for moving him into midfield? We play a 433 and if youā€™re taking about replacing Ojo then that means playing Tav as an inside forward, not a midfielder. Which is a completely different role altogether and would take a long time to learn and adjust to. Itā€™s not as simple as just saying ā€˜letā€™s move that player into a new positionā€™.

30 Sep 2019 11:36:42
Fantastic result against the sheep on Saturday, if we can get a result during the week against the Swiss mob, we can go into this international break, with Real belief we can achieve something this season. I think gerrard is doing a great job.

30 Sep 2019 12:15:58
They were due to get turned over from us.
Rode their luck against us last season.
I predict a riot against Celtic this season as well. šŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 18:24:43
Letsgo, Aberdeen beat us 3 times last year that's hardly riding their luck. let's concentrate on the here and now instead of making excuses for the past or making daft predictions. Goph it was a great result and we should be aiming to build on that. Hope gerrard see's what made the difference and continues with that instead of reverting to typešŸ‘.

30 Sep 2019 19:15:01
@coldo - I was talking about Aberdeen. šŸ‘.

Review Of The Day 30th September 2019

30 Sep 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 30th September 2019

30 Sep 2019 01:41:37
Anybody else think that Tav should be in Midfield? He seems to get the most stick when he puts in a bad defensive display. A think he would get even better without having to worry about the defending. Now that Big Borna is playing well, Flanagan could take Tavs place at right back, see how he does in his natural position. Just a thought Bears.

30 Sep 2019 08:59:44
And drop who? āœŒļøšŸ‡¬šŸ‡§.

30 Sep 2019 10:49:46
Nope, the reason he looks so good going forward is that he is pushing up from a defensive position and often his direct opponent (ie a winger) isnā€™t tracking him well enough. At the same time the opposite fullbacks is concerned with the movement of our right sided forward and this in turn creates space for Tav for is very good at exploiting this when breaking forward from fullback. Move him into midfield and all of this would be lost. Plus we play a 3 man midfield, we donā€™t play with a right sided midfielder so where exactly are you playing him? Plus our defence isnā€™t exactly doing badly so far this season. Plus if you understood our tactics you would know that Gerrard is purposely looking for both fullbacks to push high. He knows this will leave space behind them so is why we play with two sitting type midfielders who drop and cover when the fullbacks push on (itā€™s exactly the same way Liverpool play) . All of these points makes Tav the ideal player to be our right fullback. Certainly not a midfielder.

30 Sep 2019 14:11:32
good analysis of our tactics Ger78. The mob on the other side of the city also play this way.

30 Sep 2019 14:35:56
Ger78, do you think people on here will accept your analyis and stop complaining about Tav being caught upfield when he should be in defence. I was always taught that if the full back goes forward give him the ball and if you don't and lose the ball, he will obviously be caught out of position.

30 Sep 2019 15:11:14
Doesnā€™t matter if they accept my analysis or not, Iā€™m not the Rangers manager, Iā€™m just stating that thatā€™s the way we play, itā€™s the way Gerrard wants us to play. The modern day fullback in most teams is now much more of an attacking player and itā€™s the tactics that a lot of teams adopt (Barcelona really started, look at them, they actually regularly play wingers in the fullback positions) Gerrard wants are fullbacks to provide an attacking threat/ option and plays with a solid 3 in the middle who are all capable of dropping back and covering if need be. Itā€™s the way he wants it and I for one think itā€™s working really well. If you change it and move Tav into midfield (which actually in our line up you couldnā€™t do, you do actually have to play him in the right forward position which wouldnā€™t work at all) and play Flanagan at right back weā€™d lose a lot of our attacking flair.

30 Sep 2019 15:25:23
Hi Swanseablue, Celtic do play similarly however they are more of a 451 or a 4231 even with usually two sitting midfielders, an attacking midfielder and two wide players. We play a 433 with often a solid 3 in the middle and two supporting inside forwards either side of a main attacker, both who can interchange and drop deeper when needed. They donā€™t always tend to play that wide. They play closer to the front man therefore creating space for the fullbacks to go outside them. Itā€™s the exact set up as Liverpool which is no surprise at all seeing as Gerrard coached their academy team who use the same tactics as the first team.

30 Sep 2019 18:21:34
No. right back where he is now. he's captain for a reason.

29 Sep 2019 22:52:27
Brliiant reading some of the sheep fans comments following their humping yesterday. They are not happy bunnies (or should that be lambs? ) . Most of them chucking their season tickets and tv subs, threatening to leave their new midden like Alaskan wastes. The wee gremlin's jacket is definitely on a shoogly peg. How lucky were we that he turned us down? Just think what kind of state we would have been in. Maybe Coldo would have been happy, mind you! šŸ‘.

29 Sep 2019 21:46:45
I few people are mentioning Katic as our best defender. I actually think heā€™s SGā€™s best signing, who do you guys think is SG best signing?

30 Sep 2019 01:35:03
Youā€™re going to be biased though arenā€™t you with a name like that šŸ˜‰. I do agree though that I could see him being the one that could be sold on for the most looking at his potential and age.

30 Sep 2019 07:31:29
Gerrard's best signing is our wonderful veteran midfielder, steven davis! If we are to win the league this season, he will be one of the main reasons, as he's our puppet master, who makes our team tick. The midfield if it functions properly, is the area that wins or loses games/
wins or loses trophies. Always has been.

30 Sep 2019 07:37:52
what I will say is that quality CBs are like hen's teeth, so if Katic develops in to a Gough, Butcher etc then he would be the best signing indeed.

30 Sep 2019 12:38:20
Scott Arfield has been a terrific signing for us.

30 Sep 2019 13:28:19
Alan McGregor is his best signing.

30 Sep 2019 15:23:41
All good shouts! Going to see so many positive signings being made!

30 Sep 2019 16:47:22
Jermaine Defoe. Massive statement of intent and very good for our teams development.
