Dimitar berbatov anyone? He's a free agent and his goalscoring record both at club and international level with bulgaria is truly outstanding! Would score for fun in scottish football, thoughts?

30 Jun 2016 21:13:34
4 goals in 17 apperances for his last club paok. that's pretty poor.

30 Jun 2016 21:20:16
He's 35 we don't need anymore oldies. We need young blood. Yeah agree he would score goals. But I think we should be looking at late teens tho and develop them.

Plus I think Nottingham Forrest are in for him.

30 Jun 2016 23:50:41
You pick up on his last club only caw 1,what about the rest of his goalscoring career? Outstanding my friend!

01 Jul 2016 00:31:19
He's too old. wasnt outstanding at Monaco either.

01 Jul 2016 08:13:22
Yeah but the spl is pish he would still get goals here although it's someone with a career in front of them not behind them we need.

01 Jul 2016 08:29:51
No to this on every level. Seems you've fallen back in the trap of signing every big name. 10 years too late.

01 Jul 2016 08:48:53
No thanks . saw him play in that socceraid game he looked slower than me 😂😂.

01 Jul 2016 18:40:31
Fernando Torres available on a free.

01 Jul 2016 19:29:41
It won't happen but a great player.

30 Jun 2016 20:16:08
Hey guys, can anyone tell me what days rangers are playing in the USA. The teams and times if possible?

Thanks.

30 Jun 2016 22:05:25
As far as I can find out Teeboy1 we play Charleston Battery on 6th July and the training camp is for 10 days. Can't find out any details of other friendlies.

30 Jun 2016 22:56:38
The only other confirmed friendly is Burnely at home. The new cup format kicks in this season with the first game on the 16th and then 3 more in about 10 days I think.

30 Jun 2016 20:22:00
Only playing 1 game rest is training.

01 Jul 2016 08:49:49
Weds night is the game against battery game is on rangers tv at midnight.

30 Jun 2016 19:43:10
Any news on the boy Murdoch. Do we think he will make the 1st team squad this season or join McCall at Bradford. How about if he went to Bradford on loan. Think SM would look after his development and he could make their 1st team squad. Thoughts?

01 Jul 2016 10:46:06
boy is good and that would be an idea as long as he got game time wherever he goes on loan this season as won't break into this midfield.

30 Jun 2016 19:20:18
Good we are investing in defenders who when required can defend and ensure no goals are conceded. Think a big change from last season will be how we approach play once we are leading and in comfortable position. I think MW got it wrong last season with his 3 substitutes after 60 mins to "rotate" the squad. This cost us points after we were in great positions (Falkirk in particular stands out after we were goals up and in control) . Big lesson from last season was that we need to learn how to defend a lead, and I am confident we have the strength in depth in the right defensive areas to be able to make wiser substitutions.

30 Jun 2016 20:13:59
Fd

What defenders are you referring too?

30 Jun 2016 20:26:40
mean we can now bring on likes of Hodson, Crooks or Hill and protect a lead.

30 Jun 2016 20:49:06
We still need another centre half but would prefer someone younger than the guy who is currently on trial. Mariappa would have been ideal but doesn't look like that's happening.

30 Jun 2016 23:00:55
Fd , mw said the 3 subs on the bench was not a dig at anybody, he said that we only had 3 to put on the bench.

01 Jul 2016 10:49:09
what u talking about bigjoh85?

01 Jul 2016 19:23:38
James stirling, what ime getting at was we would have had better subs to make, if it wasnt for rhe fact 5 of our first team players were out injured before we got to the tail end of the season, in fact 5 forward players that could have scored goals, remember its the team that scores more goals that get the three points.

02 Jul 2016 15:59:15
Fd , mw was not interested in us being a defencive minded team in the championship, his philosophy was always about scoring more goals than the opposition, now that he has acheived that he is ssorting out the defence cause he knows the opposition will be a bit better in the premier league, but i can't see him changing his way of setting the team to score plenty of goals, mw is set in his ways, and won't change it, for that i am glad.

30 Jun 2016 18:20:51
With Bartons contract starting tomorrow and him stating that he will be training in Monday does anybody have any idea if he is joining the squad in the States? I know people with criminal records can be denied entry to the US for certain offences, assault being one of then but they do allow it depending on the elapsed time since the offence.

30 Jun 2016 18:58:50
Starts training with the 20's tomorrow and meets up with the squad next week.

30 Jun 2016 19:03:45
he cannot go to the states would not get a visa due to past performances.

30 Jun 2016 20:09:12
He has previously been knocked back from going to the States with Newcastle due to his conviction.

30 Jun 2016 17:05:31
I have been happy with our signings so far. All our depart urs being covered and more depth in needed areas (full back, Cb and cdm) also adding some experience. I think 3 more signings would be us done

Out 》in

Bell 》Gilks
Ball 》to be replaced
Law 》Rossiter
Zelalem 》Barton
Shiels 》Windass
Oduwa/ king 》Krancjar
Clark 》to be replaced

Also brought in Hill, Hodson and Crooks as cover.

We only need a decent CB and another striker to compete. Another tricky winger would be ideal.

It would be almost impossible to pick a starting 11 with the quality we will have. Especially in the forward positions.

With 3 forward positions plus one attack minded mid you have to accommodate Miller, Mckay, Waghorn, Krancjar, Windass, Forrester and New Striker plus any others we add!

What a great problem! 😃.

30 Jun 2016 17:31:28
Any ideas on who could be the center forward coming in?

Another site suggested Burnley striker Lukas Jutkiewicz. Was met with a lot of approval.

30 Jun 2016 18:42:34
No idea T76. I am hoping to hear more from my wee source bur he only gets news from Warburton himself so I won't know anything until he gets back at very earliest.

30 Jun 2016 21:11:05
We, l wait then! Imo ohalleron should be a big player for us next season, very talented, and seems to be forgotten on Thi site, I fancy he, l be a sensation, I would like to see him played at CF, I think the boy showed a lot of courage and sense coming to Ibrox, and deserves the chance to show Rangers what he can do.

01 Jul 2016 07:06:45
Although I share your enthusiasm for MOH Tomtom I don't share your faith. Hope I'm wrong but I don't think he will cut it. I see him here for another 12 months and then offski.

30 Jun 2016 07:27:45
Rangers still on hunt for center half, MW states on Rangers website

goo.gl/hnQTvJ

30 Jun 2016 14:35:31
Knowing the club has signed Clint Hill and Lee Hodson as cover.

Is anyone else a little surprised that the bulk if not all of the signings so far have been midfielders?

Expecting a striker of course and hopefully another central defender, not Onyewu. Given that Clark has left along with Ball going back to Spurs.

Both have to be permanent. Couple of loans later in the window.

30 Jun 2016 16:02:21
Not really, for me midfield was the area that needed to be strengthened and I'm happy that is now the case. People are quick to point the blame towards our defenders for looking shaky but the majority of situations we found ourselves leaking goals came from being exposed to counter attacks, losing possession in midfield or forward areas and our midfield doing next to no job in terms of protecting the defence.

We are looking much more solid in there with the new signings and I suggest the team will defend better now, wither we play the same back 4 or not.

And if you look at it this way, with the midfielders we released, we were left with Halliday and Holt. Halliday isn't even a natural DM so no, I am not surprised we signed Barton, Rossiter and Crooks, who are the natural Midfield players. Windass is more of an attacking player or winger, so I wouldn't class him as a midfielder.

Players like Burt, Thompson are not ready for first team football and will be lucky to get a couple of appearances this year.

30 Jun 2016 15:55:12
Most sensibly minded people would suggest that without a quality striker that there is a lack of goals on the team.

We struggled for last third of season to score against championship level teams, seems fairly logical that it's going to be harder, not easier, for us to score at a higher level.

For me this is a real issue that should have been the priority not last thing we try to resolve. Football is about scoring and keeping balls out the net. Everything else doesn't count for anything.

30 Jun 2016 16:55:05
It is a little surprising some are changing their tune on the defence.

While back it was this, Tavernier can't defend, Keirnan can't defend and Wilson can't defend.

Now because we see the alternatives are possibly Hill, Onyewu and Hodson. Sudden change of tune, now it's Wilson and Keirnan will be better with a more solid holding midfielder.

Don't know how the transfer window will turn out yet. That defence though in comparison to the improvements in midfield. Who knows.

30 Jun 2016 19:33:14
Matt Crooks, seems to be missing in most posts team selection, watched him numerous times and think he will be a great signing, still young 6ft4 and the lad can read the game well, good passer of the ball, he will be a great addition .

30 Jun 2016 20:37:00
Agreed Brian p. I think he could be the pick of the bunch and one day leave for big money.

30 Jun 2016 21:15:29
Luigi, the market has scarcely opened, there will obviously be discussion going on with various strikers agent etc, these things take time, specially when people are on holiday or playing, they e done the job on the defensive side, now they will concentrate on goals, give it a break mate, strikers worth their salt ain't going to jump in and sign, anyway tge window hadn't opened yet.

01 Jul 2016 09:05:42
Thorn if you are referring to me about people changing their tune on the defence, I held that opinion during last season and was glad when we started Ball as a DM in front of Wilson and Kiernan as we instantly looked more solid. Now it looks like we will be playing 2 sitting midfielders who can both defend and retain possession and this will help us dramatically in terms of our defence.

I was posting months back during the season complaining about how exposed we were to the counter attack due to Wallace and Tavernier constantly attacking and having nobody in midfield capable of covering. Yes, Wilson and Kiernan were both guilty of some howlers but this was only made possible by our lacklustre attacking play, which hopefully will be much more controlled now from the middle of the field.

30 Jun 2016 14:08:44
Foderingham

Tav Kiernan Wilson Waldo

Barton Halliday

MacKay Kranjcar Forrester

Waggy

Subs:
Gilks
Crooks
Windass
Miller
Hodson
Rossiter
Hardie

Backups:

That's one helluva squad. Well done Warbs. Only addition I would like to see is Dom Ball. Other than that I think we are set if you look at the above.

30 Jun 2016 14:30:34
Another striker for me please. You missed out Holt, I think rossiter may turn out to be a great signing!

30 Jun 2016 14:30:34
Another striker for me please. You missed out Holt, I think rossiter may turn out to be a great signing!

30 Jun 2016 15:03:54
Wilson and kiernan will not be 1st choice, well they best not be. Think gilks will oust fod as no1 and we need a proper no 9.

30 Jun 2016 18:22:03
Also MOH and Clint Hill. Agree with formation Bobby. Canna wait.

30 Jun 2016 20:21:04
We desperately need a goal scoring striker. Like it or not Celtic have Griffiths who is a proven premier league scorer and the boy Dembele had a good scoring record in a stronger league last season. Currently the striking position is our weak point and its vital we get at least another striker in.

01 Jul 2016 02:50:04
I think we might see Rossiter in the starting eleven. I was very surprised to see him being allowed to leave Liverpool.

30 Jun 2016 13:57:02
Just been looking at Iceland CB Hordur Magnusson plays for Juventus B team. 23 years old and out of contract today 30th June. Big guy 1.90 in height, played well against England the other night, type of CB we need in the team.

30 Jun 2016 14:15:26
My mistake thought the guy played against England but still think he could be a good addition to our team.

30 Jun 2016 15:58:42
This let's sign an Iceland player stuff is ludicrous.

They are very well set up to defend their box and frustrate opponents. Is that how we plan to approach games next season?

The only members of their squad who are good enough to play for us already play for major team's.

As funny as watching them beat engerland was that doesn't mean they are a team of quality players.

30 Jun 2016 17:58:56
I thought they were pretty poor tbh and we're only made to look competent due to an inept performance from England.

01 Jul 2016 02:59:55
Luigi, the role of defenders is to help stop the opposition from scoring, do you think Iceland is the only internatioal team to set the team up that way. The young guy I posted about played for Juventus B team, might not be the top team but they're good, could possibly give our squad a good game. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you often seem to find something negative to other people's posts. IMO.

01 Jul 2016 19:57:54
Two old fashioned, no nonsense, proper CB'S are what we need. Remember them, they could tackle, head the ball, pretty much used their body as shield. These are what we need. They don't need to play football, they give the ball to the DM/ DLPM. Clint hill seems old skool, one more please.

30 Jun 2016 12:18:33
8 1st team players have left us from last season, we've signed 8 so far, MW has said we need a bigger squad for the demands of the premiership, how many more do you think we should sign? i would say at LEAST 4.

30 Jun 2016 12:33:28
I wouldn't say 8 1st team players left. more like 6 squad players left, and 2 potential 1st team players (Ball and Zezalem) one of which we might even be signing permanently. we still have another 2-3 signings to come in. a good number in my eyes, we have cover for every position, almost.

30 Jun 2016 12:37:00
I think a CB (hopefully Ball) and a Striker. Then later on bring in 2 players on loan midfielder and a another striking opinion ;)

30 Jun 2016 12:57:11
Nothing like nitpicking onlyshowaround lol, i was just pointing out the players who left, would've been playing if they were chosen, jeez. :-D.

30 Jun 2016 13:29:02
Personally I don't think it's about numbers more about quality. Depends on aim, if it's to challenge Celtic I think we are short on quality.

30 Jun 2016 18:01:07
I think this squad as it stands will definitely be able to mount a serious challenge. And according to MW there's more to come.

30 Jun 2016 20:24:21
Luigi

The aim must be to challenge Celtic and currently your right we don't have enough quality particularly up front they have far better strikers than us and we need to get at least 1 goal scoring striker.

30 Jun 2016 11:18:46
I know he's an attacking midfielder/ forward but Haris Vuckic is a player I'd love to see back at the Gers one day.

Can't see it happening this summer - but do fellow bears agree?

30 Jun 2016 12:13:32
Nope, not good enough, he was the best of a bad lot in our 1st season in the championship.

30 Jun 2016 12:28:30
Vuckic would be very good with better players around him. However I doubt he will sign during this window. What about Will Grigg.

30 Jun 2016 15:41:53
He is good enough was our best player. scored a lot of goals from midfield.

30 Jun 2016 11:37:15
No chance of him signing especially as kranjcar has signed in similar position.

30 Jun 2016 10:47:19
Anyone backing the horse Wearethepeople in the 7pm race at Newbury today. The owner is A Mr Joseph Barton.

30 Jun 2016 11:22:00
surely worth a punt at 20/ 1?

30 Jun 2016 10:03:06
Probably got enough Midfielders already I know but I hear Man City have completed the signing of possible Rangers target Austrailian International Aaron Mooy and are keen to send him out on loan.
I remember 9 in a row legend Ian Ferguson advising us to try and sign this guy who has massive potential earlier this year.
With Warbs record of player development he might look to bring him here on loan and I think Pep would give it the green light if Warbs wants him.

30 Jun 2016 10:46:08
No harm to the lad but he is nowhere near good enough for man city. I'd be amazed if he played any competive games for man city.

30 Jun 2016 14:31:59
They signed another Australian boy last year caceres? I think they just loan him to Melbourne city.

30 Jun 2016 14:35:31
He's there to sell shirts in Oz. May as well try and take him on a two year loan!

30 Jun 2016 10:58:39
Mooy does seem to have something very special, player of the year twice in a row, also incredible over 20 assist on top of his goals for a midfielder, would be great to have him on loan, however I feel MW may have enough players in that dept. They may decide to keep him around 6 months anyway see how he fits in with squad, then send him out on loan, I noticed Man City sent 2 others over to Melbourne on loan.

30 Jun 2016 15:59:28
Part of their development plan for Melbourne city.

30 Jun 2016 06:06:25
MW DW FMcP and DK n board take bow. The turn around of our club has been miraculous, the squad that has been put together in 3 windows, for a million or so if your lucky is fantastic. How can u even pick a starting 11 now there's so much healthy competition.

Gilks
Tav crooks hill Wallace
holt barton
Krank
Forrester mckay
Waggy
Or

Fod
Aird wilson kiernan hodson
Rosieter walsh
Halliday
Ohallaran windass
Miller

The first team will only get better with this competition and we will also sign a few more player.

Looking at the team's above it is clear that we need a number 9 out a d out goal scorer even two new number 9 and a think if we get them and 1 cb then we can win the league no doubts.

Roll on new season!

30 Jun 2016 08:34:19
Walsh is not a DM.

30 Jun 2016 09:55:35
We have a number 9,an outstanding prospect young Ryan hardie, hopefully he gets some games this year or even one more short loan.

30 Jun 2016 10:44:21
Going by the standard of the st we have been linked with i'd rather give hardie a go and maybe bring in hemmings as a more physical option.

30 Jun 2016 05:03:09
Dom Ball would be the best signing of the lot. Here's hoping!

30 Jun 2016 13:54:57
There are other players out there. Ball has been made out to be more than the decent player he is.

30 Jun 2016 01:45:03
I think we should look at signing Anton Ferdinand rather than onyewu. 31, lots of Experience and wouldn't cost anything. Another ex qpr player lol.

30 Jun 2016 13:55:26
Should stay well clear of them both.
