kents career is in limbo if he stays at Liverpool as he is nowhere near the standard required for first team football at anfield and may never be. either he comes to us for about 5 million quid or on loan (which I don't want) or he moves to leeds or whoever---failing those scenarios he is stuck in reserve games for another season---he will move from Liverpool, no doubt in my mind. but to who or in what capacity is up for debate.

30 Jul 2019 22:33:23
He's not 5 million quid though is he? And I thought at the moment any loan has been ruled out? he's contracted to Liverpool and is valued at 10 million pounds! nothing is going to happen without the blessing of Liverpool first! And I personally believe they want to sell and you can't blame them for trying to get the best price for him!

31 Jul 2019 11:12:43
In a market where Oli McBurnie is worth 18 million, Kent is a bargain at 10. Just far too expensive for us. We are not part of that market.

01 Aug 2019 10:32:41
Believe English window closes 8th August so need to be Development soon if he’s to secure permanent move to club down south.

30 Jul 2019 17:13:44
Hi bears what time is the game on Thursday someone at work says it's an early kick off.

30 Jul 2019 17:26:47
6.30pm.

30 Jul 2019 18:33:09
Thanks Forfar.

30 Jul 2019 13:20:28
Confident Prediction, Kent WILL sign for Rangers for around £7m, not a loan deal, as soon as some of the deadwood has been moved on i. e. Grezda.

30 Jul 2019 14:54:49
worth noting kent turned up in all OF games

down to 10 men &’a goal down at porkheid he rolled sleeves up took them on &’was superb and was also instrumental in Ibrox OF games

he gets credit in the bank for that from me over cple goals in EL qualifiers all day long - the lads a talent and i’d have him back in a heartbeat

but not due 10m!

30 Jul 2019 16:20:21
Yeah, I want him back as well but he needs to add goals and assists to his game.

30 Jul 2019 17:18:26
Trev I get what your saying and I agree the Celtic performances do score more credit. Some of the new boys have not yet had a chance at that level, so think we need to wait and see how they do before saying who is better. My point earlier was that I am more impressed by Ojo than I was at the same point of last season than I was by Kent . I know Kent got stronger as season went on but so might some of our other boys in that postion, if given a chance.

30 Jul 2019 17:24:59
Muppet guys like Grezda are not deadwood they are Gers players. Just not what we need.

30 Jul 2019 18:10:47
Grezda herrara etc guys who are stealing a wage am afraid are classed as deadwood.

30 Jul 2019 18:54:47
fair shout cambi - i’d luv them both!

one either side of fredo or defoe and the title could be coming home

i’m like a broken record on this but I still want a target man in the squad - the llorente dzeko type up top can change games for you in a flash and we all know the great value big dado jelavic &’attila gave us down the years

I actually thought the lad Kamberi at hibs was a handful
&’showed potential.

31 Jul 2019 08:53:43
What about Cosgrove from Aberdeen yeah I know it's highly unlikely but he would be ideal and knows the league.

30 Jul 2019 11:10:17
Don't think Kent is Better than ojo or worth anywere near 10 million lol ojo 2 Europen goals in 2 games kent never got a single goals in Europe for our whole euro run.

30 Jul 2019 11:42:43
Thats your opinion mate, but for me ryan kent is better than ojo. You can't just base an argument because ojo has scored 2 goals in europe as opposed to kent having scored none.
If we take both wingers overall play into account, i truly think most would agree that kent is currently the better winger. I agree that currently £10million is over priced for kent, but that's what the market value is down there, for a player like kent. I would value kent lower at between £6-£8million, if i'm being honest.

30 Jul 2019 12:19:45
Surely the argument works both ways guys. We’ve only seen a few games of Ojo. He may well turn out to be 10x better than Kent or he may turn out a dud.

Kent doesn’t seem to coming back, get over it! Ojo is here and has started well so enjoy it.

30 Jul 2019 12:47:13
Kent is better than anyone we have out wide. Gerrard knows this that's why he is desperate to get him back👍.

30 Jul 2019 12:51:10
because ojo scored 2 goals against part time sides he's better than kent. ok.

30 Jul 2019 13:28:08
Well Jones is certainly not a replacement based in the evidence so far, I hope I’m wrong but the time for first team selection is running out for him and Hastie.

30 Jul 2019 13:30:08
Surely the only comparison that can be made would be Kent after a few games v ojo after a few games . I can’t remember being overly impressed with Kent until a few months in . I have been impressed by ojo, he looks like a fantastic finisher and think he could end up with 15-20 goals this year . Having said that I’d really love both in the same team .

30 Jul 2019 16:51:07
Wee Wullie frae the Braes's - wow it’s still July and Jones / Hastie not cutting it . Jones has been excellent, first touch is always forward and looking to create, Hastie played 20 games at the highest level and will grow into the role . I had the pleasure of meeting him at Ibrox last week and he appreciates and knows the challenge ahead and doesn’t need negativity. This lad has a super future / give him a chance! - remember we are genuinely looking to challenge for the league this year - think back . when was the last time we could genuinely say that. Wake up!

30 Jul 2019 22:38:09
dunfermlineloyal not that I'm actually disagreeing with you! But you can turn your own argument around and say lent didn't manage to score against part time opposition last season in Europe!

31 Jul 2019 11:14:39
I've been pleasantly surprised with Jones so far actually.

30 Jul 2019 10:41:23
So Arsenal are paying Lille 72 million for Pepe to be paid off over 5 years. If Gerrard is fixed on getting Kent why not offer a similar deal of say 10 million over 5 years. 2 million a year is doable and Liverpool might take it.

30 Jul 2019 10:57:17
Good idea although would hate to be paying 10mill over 5 years for a player whos lucky if he's worth half that.

30 Jul 2019 12:56:33
I think what you’re not realising here is that’s the way most transfers work. When the papers state 5million or 10 million for a player it’s never (or very rarely) that amount up front. It’s always staggered over a number of years and also usually made up of a number of potential add on’s as well.
This has been the case even back to the days when we were signing the likes of Gazza and Laudrup etc. The full amount is hardly ever paid up front, it’s always spread out over a number of instalments over a number of years.

30 Jul 2019 13:05:55
8 million for a guy with 6 goals in the spl 😂 if kent never slapped brown dout anyone would be gone mad for him lol had as many bad games as good. if he does come back he needs to double his numbers.

30 Jul 2019 14:51:49
Tango, the market dictates and some on here get supply and demand, some don't. A smiley face and the Brown incident are irrelevant. Liverpool has a figure they'll sell for and teams will meet it or not. We'll see.

30 Jul 2019 15:11:52
Not to mention he tore the Celtic defence apart twice at ibrox and was outstanding at the 2nd game at celtic park, when he scored a terrific goal, while we were playing with 10 men for most of it. For the record that was the best team in the league supposedly, that kent ripped apart 3 times. Tell all the facts instead of the some that suits you mate. Ryan kent is a better winger than anyone we currently have at ibrox and that's why stevie G is desperate to sign him in any shape or form.

30 Jul 2019 16:27:26
Kent was great against c*ltic coop but where was he the rest of the season? His goals and assists weren't great last season. Tell all the facts instead of the some that suits you mate.

30 Jul 2019 16:30:04
I would love us to sign Kent permanently but he's not worth £10m. IMHO.

30 Jul 2019 17:24:37
What i'm stipulating regarding kent is he's capable of doing it in the biggest game there is. He's a cracking player and was voted young player of the year in scotland. To get that award you have to be good in more than 3 games against celtic.
Have a word with yourself and think mate.

30 Jul 2019 17:30:26
Goals and assists can also be very misleading mrgrumpy. How many times did kent go past defenders with ease and then passed to another player who then laid on the assist for a goal. He caused mayhem against a lot of teams for us. Think what i'm saying here. Kent often started passages of play with his terrific pace and ability, which led to us scoring. Wouldn't read too much into this continual thing on here ie. he only scored this amount of goals and only assisted with this amount of goals. Hope my explanation clears this up, once and for all.

30 Jul 2019 17:33:45
10 mil for Kent? Your seriously off kilter there. Look at the decent players Gerrard has sourced to date and consider the costs. 10 million squid? No way!

30 Jul 2019 17:53:34
Tango, have a look at the stats for players we consider Rangers greats, Gascoigne, Laudrup, Albertz, and before anyone jumps on the bandwagon I’m not by any means saying RK is as good as any of them but it’s not all about goals scored, having him on the pitch has other teams wary and likely to try and double up on him as they know he has a skill and a decent turn of pace to lose a player, this opens up space for others. Yes, PG, BL and JA were further down the road and more accomplished than RK is at the moment but we know in the current market the aforementioned players would be beyond the realms of our ability to sign given they would command a kings ransom in wages and a massive transfer fee, Kent at anything near £8m is a HUGE investment for any Scottish team but with a couple of good seasons under his belt and with his game development he can only improve on what he’s got which in turn could return a significant transfer fee for a sell on, we wasted £2.7m for an absolute car crash of a player in Pena and £1.5m for a guy that couldn’t hit a barn door from 5yards In Herrera, add there wages in and your looking at Kent money, in the short time he was on loan to us Kent showed more promise in his left peg than CP and EH put together. Sometimes speculate to accumulate is a good way forward especially when you’ve already test driven the merchandise, RK gets Rangers, he knows what it’s about now and he’ll know that he’d HAVE to perform in every game to keep his jersey given the amount of competition in the squad this season, people complain he only turned up in the big games, well, I’d be surprised if he came back and didn’t realise that EVERY game is a big game this season! Finally, to conclude my ‘rant’ 😂 to all and sundry who say we don’t need Kent, I say bo**ocks to you all, he can only be a positive addition, imagine being OJO or Jones knowing that any **** up and you’re hooked for RK with a good chance you’re not getting the jersey back for a while, that would spur them on to improve, there are far more positives to Kent returning than not, even if we have to pay a substantial fee! Peace out!

30 Jul 2019 18:17:03
its all about opinions coop. I want kent back, he'd definitely strengthen our first team squad but he's not the finished article, for a winger with his talent and pace he should score more and get more assists.

30 Jul 2019 23:46:11
The futures bright, 👏👏👏👍.

30 Jul 2019 09:42:35
Disappointed that we've sold Andy Dallas as I thought he could have done well for us and actually wanted him thrown in in the Semi final stage of the cup last year when we were struggling for a striker for various reasons and we ended up playing that donkey Sadiq.

30 Jul 2019 09:59:59
Tommyj the lad was very poor at Morton and struggled for a game. I wish him all the best.

30 Jul 2019 10:57:54
Could have done well for us. signs for cambridge. No.

30 Jul 2019 11:31:35
We will hopefully have a sell on price in the event Cambridge sell him on for a decent price. Same goes for Hardie.

31 Jul 2019 12:05:32
bet you there is a buy back clause.

Review Of The Day 30th July 2019

30 Jul 2019 09:39:09
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 30th July 2019

30 Jul 2019 09:08:19
No doubt about Alfredo's ability and he has the prospect to be a decent player but I for one wouldn't be bothered if he left the club. The guy is desperate for a move away from us and that does stick in the back of my throat and this must affect his performances and attitude. The fans at the club have shown him love but do you think the Colombian cares? Me don't think so and he only cares for himself and fair play to him if that's what he wants but Glasgow Rangers fans deserve better! I reckon many clubs have looked and thought it's not worth the risk and if he does stay his performances against the Tim's must improve!

30 Jul 2019 10:05:17
Ye agree and he’s never scored against Tim’s which is the mark for great strikers here he scores plenty but I think personally he’s replaceable.

30 Jul 2019 16:31:54
replace him with who? and mind he only cost us £1m.

30 Jul 2019 22:42:10
yately1 how do you know he's desperate to get away? And finishing the top scorer in the campaign last season went a long way to proving loyalty to me! But I suppose we all have our own opinions.

31 Jul 2019 00:13:33
@mrgrumpy, defoe👍.

31 Jul 2019 08:47:13
defoe is great but I don't if he could score 30 goals a season. Relying on a 37 year as our main striker? Asking a lot of the boy.

31 Jul 2019 12:04:29
I hope he stays I know he had his problems last year with discipline but still managed 30 goals Ryan Jack if I remember right was sent off four times the season before but he learnt from it and moved on, Morelos scored thirty goals last season so knows the league we could sell him buy in a replacement who doesn’t hit the ground running we need his goals I believe the last Rangers player to hit thirty goals was Boyd that’s how hard it is to get a striker of that quality you say he doesn’t care about the club he signed an extension to his contract last year I’m a fan of Defoe but at his age he won’t play every game so for me I hope Alfredo stays and bangs in the goals.

30 Jul 2019 01:55:44
Heard Tav talking today to press. All positive and talking only about what we need to do - consistency and discipline. The way it should be and none of the 'we are better' before a ball even kicked in the league. Interesting comment about new hefty fines in place for Ill discipline - it just shows how much Gerrard gets it!

End of the day, to win the league you need to be consistent against the rest - the games against the dark side will then take care of themselves, win your home games against them and worst case scenario is that the other results cancel them out.

30 Jul 2019 09:34:43
As a captain these are things he should have been saying
Never will be a rangers captain.

30 Jul 2019 10:00:05
How not macbow?

30 Jul 2019 11:46:39
Thank god you're not steven gerrard then macbow, with statements like that! Some tav bashers will only realise how good a captain and player he is, when he's gone. Get behind the manager, captain and team for goodness sake!

30 Jul 2019 17:46:00
GF7 I agree completely, been saying that to my son for the last couple of years, cut out the inconsistency against everyone else and the old firm games take care of themselves, that has to be the target. Gerrard said recently that he believed that some players thought they only had to turn up to beat the lesser teams last season, its the mental attitude that he obviously wants changing, and he's right!

30 Jul 2019 01:51:53
Not a rumour, I'm just wanting to post my thoughts about the whole Kent situation. We got him last year for buttons, he had a decent season which has put his stock through the roof. Whilst I think he is a great player, we should not be carried away and be splashing £8 million+ for him. Personally, I think we should be following the model of bringing in players like Kamara / Aribo on the cheap, developing them and selling them on for a profit.

If I was asked, would you prefer a link with the European champions, that will send players up on loan every year looking to play and us to develop, Liverpool ultimately selling them for a profit, we get a player for next to nothing, or sign Kent for silly money and blow our budget on one player - I would choose the link with Liverpool. If we can keep finding gems in the market and have 1 or 2 players on loan every year from Liverpool for next to nothing in amongst our improving/ stronger team, we are laughing. That's something money can't buy.

The link with Stevie G is there and Liverpool are going to keep supporting him. The boy Ojo already looks decent, if we can kick on, I don't think there's any reason we can't kick on and come extremely close this year 💙💙.

30 Jul 2019 09:08:36
Good post Gmartin 1986!You talk lot of sense in your post pal. I agree we couldn't/ shouldn't pay £8million upwards for the permanent signing of ryan kent. I rate kent very highly and would love us to sign him permanently, or at the very least another season long loan deal, which going by what Klopp is saying, won't happen. For us to sign kent permanently, it has to be a sensible
structured deal, to suit our finances. Along the lines of £4million maximum now, with possibly the rest of the transfer fee structured so we're paying it over say a couple of years, with liverpool getting the carrot of having a possible 50% sell on clause inserted into the deal. I truly think that is do'able for us. I would love us to get kent back to ibrox in some sort of deal. Imho kent is even better in his position, to what we currently have.

30 Jul 2019 09:10:21
I agree in principle. However it would make more sense to not loan at all and concentrate on developing our own kids. That’s the ideal situation. Develop our own, sell for massive profit and also scout wisely purchasing ‘bargains’ to later sell them on also.

In amongst that formula you will have been making profits, allowing you to purchase a much higher calibre of player to play alongside the bargains and In-experienced players. The team becomes much stronger for titles and Europe.

If we can get Kent for 6m, then for me we do it. He is a far higher calibre of player than what we have in that position. Jones just doesn’t cut it for me. He will be OK, but he’s not Kent.

30 Jul 2019 10:59:13
Wouldnt say buttons. We paid liverpool 1 million last season for years loan going be reports.

01 Aug 2019 10:31:12
@Paul86 - when you consider that we paid over £1 million for Grezda for a year and what did he contribute? Half rate and nothing. Buttons for a player of Kent’s quality.

30 Jul 2019 01:40:26
If you want to see Suttons arse served up on a silver plate:

Sutton and Daryl

30 Jul 2019 08:14:40
Brilliant stuff, look on his face when Daryl says that too him.

30 Jul 2019 10:03:47
Classic!

30 Jul 2019 01:33:26
I don't believe Ryan Kent is coming tho I wish it was true he is a fantastic player facts are Kent unfollowed Liverpool I'm led to believe and Gerrard has said he will wait till the last minute to get him hearing 4M plus 50% sell on that's hard to believe the sell on bit if we manage somehow to get him
permanent it would be as big as Gerrard when he came our squad would be extremely powerful with tavernier kamara Aribo Davis katic Ojo Morelos Defoe Arfeild + the swed int AND KENT wow .

30 Jul 2019 00:39:27
It's well documented that the BBC and Rangers are not the best of friends but the spite in their reporting of anything rangers is mind boggling. The BBC's "impartial" journalists have ran an article on only one of our pre-season games so far and yes, you've probably guessed it, the 0-0 with Blackburn. Anything even remotely negative and they'll jump right on it, they've not interest that we trounced Marseille 4-0 (Despite running Accrington Stanley's 2-1 win) . There's no doubt in my mind they've actively made the decision not to run any of our pre-season wins.

What made me decide to post this was the article they ran on the website today of the Manchester United U21's 4-0 defeat of our boys at the weekend, using words like "outclassed", "Cruised" and "Eased past". We all know this doesn't tell the full story as the majority of that team were involved in another game. These are our up and coming youngsters but any sniff of a negative regarding our club they will pounce on it and they care not a jot.

30 Jul 2019 06:34:04
When did we draw 0-0 with Blackburn? Looks like your reporting research is as bad as theirs.

30 Jul 2019 06:49:40
Get used to it gazz because it ain't going to change anytime soon. Should be renamed bbc ireland.

30 Jul 2019 07:18:57
Who gives a toss about the BBC. A publicly-funded organisation which squanders money and pays overrated 'stars' ridiculous amounts of money, reneges on a deal it did with the government of the day to pick up funding of free TV licences for over-75s. Most of their programming is terrible. In this day and age, the TV licence should be scrapped and the BBC should be made to stand on its own two feet just like the commercial TV stations. I for one WON'T be watching Sportscene this coming season. Muppets the lot of them!

30 Jul 2019 08:43:38
class 0-0,blame the BBC and you can't even get the score correct yourself.
still laughing yet. I can't really remember any station reporting on pre season kick about.

30 Jul 2019 09:14:40
Gazz mclau, don't worry about the bbc coverage of the famous. They are an embarrassment and total amateurs!
You just have to look at the likes of steven thompson and michael stewart, god almighty. Also the morons who write their blogs mclaughlin and co. Absolute knuckledraggers mate. I pay no attention to any of that lot and wouldn't give them the time of day. So, so jealous of the famous glasgow rangers that its jumping out of them! They need us a helluva lot more, than we will ever need them!
