Reality check today and still lots of work to do in defensive shape. I'm going to be controversial here. Barton slows the game down for me, he isn't match sharp yet and I thought young Rossiter looked class again, can see the Barry Ferguson comparisons now for a lad so young he plays beyond his experience in years. I'd either play him before Barton or change the shape to allow 2 holding Mids.

I have do disagree with your Barton comment, thought he was probably the best player on the park today along with Rossiter who came on. We definitely need to recruit in the defensive area but on the attack we need a clinical goal-scorer, just what Burnley had today in Andre Gray. Saw Warburton on the sky sports app though saying that we are close to securing a defender and that he might even sign before Saturday which is good news and then he will most likely utilise the loan market by bringing a young defender from any of the top EPL clubs. In Warbs we trust!

I'm with you on this one RangersLoyal, I also thought joey barton was the best rangers player on the park, hardly wasted a pass and his range of passing was superb, will be a great signing for us and will dominate games for us and will cruise it in the scottish premiership, said when we signed him and I'll say it again, joey barton is the best midfielder in scottish football and will prove this to be the case over the course of the season.

I'm not sure our style of play, nice as it is, will be enough to challenge for the title, Walter knew what you need, as did, Eck, Oniel, Warbs has developed a lovely style, I'm just not as confident as some other folk who thinks we, re already certainties, hope I'm wrong, but we will struggle against them, and maybe others, they will be notiing our game, and adjusting theirs

I think result today should temper expectations. not that long ago we had gazza laudo et all. even more recently we had black Kyle etc. i think we are in the middle ground just now and it may not be the immediate sharp upwards that we all crave. Dave King is not a sugar daddy like jack walker was for Blackburn but in Warburton we will get there without the funds of days past.

Warbs seems to have a very solid and sensible plan! He is signing players that have a future and also experienced players who can compete just now! Plus help the youngsters! In my opinion no one else could do this transition better than Warburton!

Also the signing of Hill another defender with no pace doesn't inspire confidence. The Burnley game highlighted 2 major issues the lack of a good central defence and the need for a striker.

He has got to realise the defense is wrong, simple as that, we need a top keeper, (McGregor), and a solid back four, none of last year defense is anyway near good enough for top flight, never mind Europe, I don't know why he gave Kiernan another contract? Middle to front is great, but I would much prefer Warbs to have a preference in attack, such as 2 main strikers, and a number 10, with wingers flying in, and 2 holding midfielders, and stop the ridiculous habit of replacement of 2/ 3 players at the same time every week. ? That is upsetting the team structure and coherent play, unless of course injuries or poor performance. , Wilson and Kiernan are not uo to playing against good players, Motherwell could and should have scored at least 3 goals in 20 mins recently, can you imagine Griffiths with them chances, before anyone get uppity and all defensive, I've followed Rangers for 50 yrs, no one is a bigger fan than me, bit I know a problem when I see it, again, lovely football, but screaming out for aggression, and some stability

A lot of players getting digs here because of the game today not enough plaudits for the players who played well, people also have to understand Andre grey is a different calibre of player than anything we will come up against I'm Scotland, I for one thought when Wilson came on hodson and rossiter came on the game completely changed the game when they came on.

I doubt they'd be involved at all in the game but it would be great to see a MW quality CB come in before Saturday.
If they are to have a chance at making the game at all, you'd imagine the signing would have to be made by Tuesday, Wednesday.

How about a complete overhaul of Scottish football, top to bottom where all the under 21 games actually mean something. This is something we (Scotland) are failing at.

We have players who are simply not good enough, no matter what some sycophants will argue, waggy did a great job at a lower level, as did Waldo, tav, harry, and the goalie, but are they going to be challenging for the title. ? I don't know, in fact I don't think so, my biggest concern is, strangely, the manager, great as he is, he seems unable to change the unending corner kick routine, which is smashing when it works, and his habit of replacing of 2/ 3 players on the hour, this upsets the team balance and means some players know they are coming off long before they see their number up, thus their levels drop, its not conducive to a team plan, and affects a players confidence and work ethic, Imo

The defence is woeful and we need two centre backs as a matter of urgency. That apart the difficulty is who plays in midfield and upfront. O'Halloran looked good when he cam on. So did Rossiter. With Krancjar and Barton presumably certain to start games given their quality and McKay looking to be a first name on the team sheet every week that does not leave many positions available.

Same problems as last year.
Too slow in possession, lack cutting edge and the defence as usual is easy to expose.
We can get away with it to a certain level but good teams will find us easy to get at.
Please remember that we should be well ahead of Burnley in terms of fitness and we are at home.
Said it before, we can get away without another striker- we cannot get away with the current defence both in personnel and tactics.

Mate calm down its one game against opposition far superior and they looked it everywhere. Looked defensively weak as I feel playing Kiernan will always do. We are playing our least energetic midfield partnership which I talked about in my own post. Not a team in the SPFL will put that much of a challenge up. Barton Kranjcar and Haliday are too slow and don't provide enough energy in comparison to the likes of Windass. Crooks is our best player and he will show that playing CB with Wilson next season.
