Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

30 Jan 2017 21:36:28
Who at Rangers actually went on record stating that we would be aiming to win the league this year was it king? Hear that Chris sutton is saying we have egg on our face because we are so far behind. The only thing I can remember getting said by our manager was we aim to be competitive.

I like every other rangers fan doesn't know how to operate being second to Celtic but don't be kidded Brendon Rodgers had a much easier task taking over that Celtic team than warbs had taking over our side. He only needed to spend on a couple of key areas of the park whereas warbs had to build a brand new side. I don't understand how people don't grasp this. Errors have been made this year in regards to signings and mixed with injuries it has left us with limited technical ability on the park. The gaffer has addressed this short term by bringing in the two on loan which also got met by Critism by some.

His persistence to play tav and Halliday is really the only real thing that infuriates me week in week out as we have better options elsewhere in our squad.

30 Jan 2017 22:21:06
Chris Sutton loves having a go at rangers after hearts away he said we had no chance finishing top3 . going too take time don't like finish second to them buts it's no bad 1st season back. get closer to challenging next year

30 Jan 2017 22:47:29
Being 22 points behind after 22 games is not being competitive

30 Jan 2017 23:18:30
Shoot me down if you want. But Celtic have just broken their record for unbeaten run. If you looked at their form when we were not in the league and compared it to this season they wouldn't be sitting with such a large gap at the top. Their manager has come in and worked wonders.

This is our first season back, we have dropped points we shouldn't have if we were more clinical.

Some players haven't made the step up to top 6 team level, some signings haven't worked, some haven't hit the ground running, some have been hampered with injury. But it must be very difficult to bring in over 20 players in two seasons and expect everything to work out perfectly.

Maybe we are loaning players in January to keep space for our summer signings. Warbs even said last year that he doesn't like the January window as its over inflated.

The press are saying all this crap about King not trusting Warbs but I don't really buy it. I think they are assuming because we are not wasting our money in January that something is going on.

I still think warbs needs more time. I think genuinely if Barton, Krajcar and Rossiter had gone completely to plan we would have had a really decent mf. I think we have to remember that's the whole spine of the team gone or out most of the season.

We have been improving and with the new boys in mf on loan hopefully we can kick on a bit.

31 Jan 2017 08:23:21
Well Chris would know all about having Egg on his face. Look theirs the helicopter.

31 Jan 2017 09:49:44
The one bit I will disagree with you about Camoo is "Their manager has come in and worked wonders. " If I'm being very honest he has Celtic doing exactly what they should be doing, their Budget and income dwarves that all everyone elses. The players they have are far superior to every other clubs players. Someone will jump on and say yeah what about our budget, very true our budget is big, but like you said Camoo we have brought in so many players and been rather unlucky with injury and what not.

31 Jan 2017 12:05:39
Our club was a shambles before warburton came in junior sides were run better than us he had to build the club back up from the ground . no way were we going to challenge celtic in our 1st season back in SPL . more importantly i would rather we consentrate on getting rid of ashley before worrying about that mob

31 Jan 2017 16:26:16
we had to bring in loads of players and as much as Brenda has done a really good job over there I think warbs has done a great job bringing in the squad we have and more injurys than bad signings which Is unlucky

01 Feb 2017 01:37:55
I believe MW is quoted pre season saying second is nothing we are expecting to challenge Celtic for the league.

30 Jan 2017 21:08:36
First time poster. Oxford off to reading on loan, inside info from West Ham. Warbuton couldn't get rid of sendros so couldn't get Oxford in. He is supposed to be a cracker too. Shame.

30 Jan 2017 20:53:47
Anyone know if albwick has a release clause in his rangers contract and how much

30 Jan 2017 22:25:34
250k mate

30 Jan 2017 20:00:21
I see we've signed the new keeper. Welcome to rangers Jak Alnwick and all the best to Mat Gilks at his new club.

31 Jan 2017 01:27:22
Great performance from Gilks in the cup game against them. Good keeper and nice guy, I wish him all the best.

30 Jan 2017 18:34:41
seems strange that we would let gilks leave for free and then spend 250k for a replacement who will be a sub?

30 Jan 2017 19:09:51
Possibly get a decent fee for wes in summer and promote liam kelly as back uo to alnwick!?

30 Jan 2017 23:23:38
Why sell Wes in the summer? Need 2 first class keepers, at some point Wes will get injured or have dip in form. IMO his form this season has been great and in large part that must be down to the signing and competition from Gilks. Remember last season when Wes had no effective competition.

31 jan 2017 16:01:34
wes has been great i wouldn't sell him unless the money was right as good keepes are hard to come by

30 Jan 2017 18:28:32
got to say youngt lad emerson looks as if he could be a good player for us what does everyone else think?

also what do you think it will take for the people in charge to see we need a better defence as we only really have on centre back in clint hill the other two for me are not spl level. Wilson should be but for some reason thinks he doesn't have to graft.
and well we all know what I think of the boy kiernan

30 Jan 2017 20:17:01
Agree with you James, it's only one and a bit games but Hynd man looks a really decent player and my God wasn't it great to have a signing come into the team, hit the ground running and immediately up the quality of play dramatically which we've not been able to say much this season!
As for the defence don't know what it will take to shift Kiernan. MW rates him (on what evidence God knows) . Wilson is a mystery, should be a decent defender but is either injured or lackadaisical when he does play. Hill is a true journeyman, works hard but is and always has been limited by his lack of pace. Why we are keeping Senderos who knows, if all we want is a benchwarmer couldn't we use Bates for that while he gains experience. Everything has gone quiet on Oxford which is a pity. I know it would only be another loan but if we could get him for a season and a half there is a little doubt he would be a definite upgrade on where we are now.

30 Jan 2017 18:29:31
Medical for both Alnwick and Oxford today.

Sanderos leaving but staying in Scotland.

30 Jan 2017 19:57:56
forza don't know where you get your info from but the only part you got right was alnwick as for reece oxford it looks increasngly likely he will go to nottingham forest on loan and nothing has been decided about senderos and his future yet.

30 Jan 2017 23:53:01
Reece oxford unfortunately isn't coming to us forzaRFC! I don't know where you got this info from, as he's going to nottingham forest on loan! We lost out on this tremendous young centre half because we couldn't get a centre half out the door!

Dave king made it very clear to warburton at our directors meeting last wednesday, that he could only bring in a player, if a player for that particular position was leaving! The board i think reading between the lines are now losing faith with warbs. Looks very much like we'll have a new manager for the start of next season! I hope not but it does look likely!

31 Jan 2017 08:58:10
Cooper don't talk a lot of carp. The board certainly have not lost faith with warbs5

30 Jan 2017 18:11:36
We are scraping around to find a 250k to buy a 2nd rate goalkeeper as our main signing close to deadline. Sorry to say it but it could be 10years before we are near winning this league again.

Dave king is not the man we need at the helm of this club. He has no money, the other board members have no money, the club has no money.

Sorry state of affairs.

31 Jan 2017 01:07:40
2nd rate goalkeeper? Scraping around? No Money?

I can only sssume you know all about Jack Alnwick then, and Joe he's been a premier league goalkeeper since 2008, training and learning with guys like Tim Krul and Shay Given.
The lad is only 23! He will be looking to grow in to become our number 1. There is nothing 2nd rate about him and for £250k I think it's a great pieces of business. Gilks is 30 odd, no sell on value and arguably past his best.
Now we have 3 young goalkeepers (inc Liam Kelly) ready to fight it out! Can only be good for the club.

And the money thing. remind me who said we had no money?!

30 Jan 2017 17:49:18
Hyndman and toral - Is there any chance that we will get them permanently? i dont think they'll get a chance at bournemouth or arsenal. If we put an offer in at the end of the loans, maybe get them quite cheap? Any thoughts.

30 Jan 2017 19:56:11
Toral yes their is a chance, hyndman we maybe have a chance of another years loan that is it.

31 Jan 2017 11:36:08
Agree Cee, Toral unlikely to be offered contract extension at Arsenal and with European football on offer he could be open to permanent move. Hyndman could be more difficulty although MW has excellent relations with their manager. With the promise of further development including European football maybe we could reach agreement to keep him up the winter break. Think it could depend on his commitments with the US national squad. Anyway let's enjoy their contribution as we solidify 2nd place and go on a cup run!

31 Jan 2017 11:53:06
Next season Hyndman will be in Bournemouth's first team squad.

30 Jan 2017 17:48:15
If the boy Gilmour goes best of luck to him

30 Jan 2017 15:25:35
The boy Gilmour supports Celtic that's why he wants away

30 Jan 2017 17:15:09
so scott allen being a rangers supporter joined celtic? c'mon lads enough of this garbage . if gilmour goes it is because of money and prospects that's all!

30 Jan 2017 18:11:37
What a terrible post Ciderb.

30 Jan 2017 18:27:26
ciderb, big bucks is hard to knock back in any walk of life. Short career. Let the lad earn his cash his way. Nothing to do with anybody.

30 Jan 2017 18:41:38
Ciderb that's the most narrow minded reason that all good rangers fans are actually trying to get away from!

30 Jan 2017 19:01:06
Nonsense ciderb!

30 Jan 2017 19:56:38
He supports east stirling what you on about!

30 Jan 2017 21:19:59
Its a shame we are all so cynical that nobody said he maybe just wanted to get coached in one of the best acadamys in europe

30 Jan 2017 16:03:19
Dont take me home please don't take me home !!!! Ps is windass injured ????

30 Jan 2017 16:12:10
You been on the gut rot mate!

30 Jan 2017 17:43:38
Naw just saw a few people say windass wiz injured!

30 Jan 2017 16:02:13
I read somewhere that James Tavernier says rangers are unplayable on their day. What a load of horse sh*t! Rangers can't string together two decent half's let alone be unplayable. Wish he would shut his cake hole and do some defensive drills on the training pitch. Knob!

30 Jan 2017 16:26:33
Totally agree with Yogibear72, anyone watching us this season must be cringing at the guff coming from players and management
T

30 Jan 2017 16:37:24
anyone who has watched Rangers this season must be cringing at the guff coming from players and management, Tav was great last season because of the goals he scored up to the cup final
and then it has all gone wrong for him, now he is definitely not worth a place in the starting eleven, a liability in defence and a headless chicken going forward, I've been at every home game this season and last so I know how unplayable we have been, but also with Warbs saying we will learn from every game then we must be a really clever team by now.
Players and management should just keep quiet and get on with the job of securing 2nd place in the league.

30 Jan 2017 17:08:59
is there a difference between finishing 2nd or 3rd? i mean for euro qualification? ed?

30 Jan 2017 18:12:58
No, everyone is in at the first round of qualifiers, Scottish cup winners included

30 Jan 2017 18:20:17
When players speak in public they need to be aware of the significance and potential interpretations in what they say. Tav shows about as much knowledge of this as he does of defensive duties, man marking and tackling IMO

30 Jan 2017 18:35:44
Need to play additional qualifying round I believe. Also financial disparity between finishing 2nd and 3rd in league.

30 Jan 2017 19:03:06
No danger of finishing 3rd guys

30 Jan 2017 19:41:42
If Warburton had a modicum of authority and discipline about him he would place a total ban on players commenting on football issues without the specific permission of the club. It's bloody embarrassing at times.

30 Jan 2017 12:17:36
Now I know there have been people on here stating they know player's ect, but if you really did know them for instance Young Billy G, then you should be encouraging them to look beyond the £££'s sign n help their boyhood team surely, even if you had a chance encounter with ANY potential you got to be asking them the question of long-term future. Too many times young prospective star's have left n went to ruin all for a quick buck n a promise of glory only to find themselves in dier circumstances. Surely hanging it out, showing your worth n providing your parent club with some financial support as they have supported you. Barry Mck is an excellent example of sticking it out through thick n thin n coming out the other side. More should be done by ex player's n current player's to combat this. I know we ain't the club of attraction of days gone but we are still Rangers, we are still World Record Holders, we still have the belief that we can face any foe n win and most importantly us the fans have always stuck by our club. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

30 Jan 2017 13:05:45
End of the day mate a footballers a human being so if there getting the chance to 10x there wage or even double it to secure better lives for there familys then like everyone would they would take it

30 Jan 2017 13:45:32
It looks like Gilmore is off to England, I don't understand this, surely he would progress better at rangers because if he is as good as made out he will be playing first team football, then get a big money move

30 Jan 2017 15:01:48
Just the same as when rangers do it to other teams us along with Celtic hibs hearts excetra have been taking the best youths from all the smaller clubs for years with probably 10% making the grade we can't complain when it happens to us

30 Jan 2017 15:23:32
The boy Gilmour supports Celtic so let him go

30 Jan 2017 17:51:25
yes but there is the chance and it happens more than a lot of people think, that the boy ury or while still growing lose some of his ability that he has now its okay for Chelsea to gamble on that but we can't afford to be paying youngsters to stay we can't even afford a good cb.

before you all jump at me clint hill is good yes but not got the legs for another season I want sum1 wh can defend like him and that has some pace about them with a few years left in the tank!

30 Jan 2017 17:55:17
It is all guess work. We don't know whether it is the young lad that is seeing £ signs, or his parents that are being given a financial incentive for the boy to move or even whether the Rangers Board are happy to cash in on a deal that gives them £500k now and possibly builds a relationship with Chelsea that might see some of their young lads at Rangers on extended loan deals or even sees young Gilmour back at the club as a long term loanee.

If it is just about money then short term surely we could match Chelsea if we thought he was that much of a prospect!

30 Jan 2017 09:34:39
Anyone else feeling confident about this game with the jam tarts? Right now for me is the best time to be playing them, they've been really poor and their manager looks so out his depth, i know we have been shakey but i do think we will get the win, hope we thump them!

30 Jan 2017 11:12:15
I really like Cathro so I'm slightly disappointed about his start at Hearts. They've been poor, however they do have a few good players, that Martin looks pretty good. The one thing that will be in our favour is Hearts play a pressing game under Cathro, they'll be wide open which suits us, it'll be a good game but I reckon we will win, if we do it almost guarantees us European football.

30 Jan 2017 13:48:20
I wouldn't get to confident, we are still shaky at the back, plus they battered us at tynecastle last time, but I'm hoping for a win

30 Jan 2017 14:22:37
Onlyshowaround, whay makes you 'really like' Cathro? Based on what?

30 Jan 2017 14:48:03
The lad can chug 3 pints in 5 minutes 27 seconds. I like him based on that.

I personally rate Cathro is all, he is well respected in football for his age and his footballing philosophy is something I admire, is that okay with you ecky?

30 Jan 2017 17:55:02
I like cathro as since he came in hearts have fell away to f*ck so there's my reason . lol

but we didn't show up last time round this time I feel we are a different beast completely.

plus caqthro keeps signingplayers which will be unsettling to the dressing room.

they had a good sized squad as it was but too many playersh will ake it an unhappy place to work I think

30 Jan 2017 18:41:50
Great stuff onlyshow, despite that suspect he will be out of a job in 9 months if not before.

30 Jan 2017 08:31:50
First chance to see the new loan signings and I have to say Hyndman looks class. We have been unlucky with the Barton incident and injuries to Kranjcar, Rossiter, Windass and Crooks. When Rossiter is back it would be good to see him in the middle with Hyndman. I think Halliday is a True Blue through and through but maybe isn't being played where he'd like to play? Team v Hearts: Foderingham, Tavernier, Hill, Wilson, Wallace, Hyndman, Halliday, Toral, Waghorn, Miller, Mackay

30 Jan 2017 09:40:05
Swap Toral with Windass and that's our strongest team. The boy Toral looks good but we need Windass in there

30 Jan 2017 10:46:10
Wilson is injured Doiger. I think Warbs may start Forrester on the left and move McKay over to the right in the absence of O'Halloran. Think Waghorn is more effective coming off the bench tbh. Even although Jambos seem to be struggling I think they will still ask plenty questions. Malaury Martin looks a menace and will look to panic Halliday. Johnsen aerial threat from set play. Walker and Nicholson will be dangerous as normal. If we edge a win at Tynecastle I will be ecstatic.

30 Jan 2017 11:02:00
Fod
Tav kiernan Hill wallace
Halliday
Hybdman Holt

Mckay miller dodoo.

He was giving moh a chance now give joe.

30 Jan 2017 11:10:56
Keepbelieving. Didn't know Wilson was injured, thanks for that. How many more are going to be injured lol? I think Hyndman looks as if he will fill the Kranjcar/ Barton gap all round and is much younger!

30 Jan 2017 11:16:41
Fod

Tav Hill Kiernan Wallace

Windas Hyndman Toral

Waggy Mckay

Miller

30 Jan 2017 11:24:12
What's the betting Hyndman/ Miller combination is the difference again? Think Miller thrives on Hyndman's ability to carve an opening with the through ball. They will look to punish Hughes and Souttar with this.

30 Jan 2017 12:14:18
I believe Souttar is done for the rest of the season? did he not do something to his Achilles against Celtic? Which makes me question who Hearts will have at CB

30 Jan 2017 13:55:04
This 11 will start
Fod
Tav. Kiernan. Hill. Wallace
Toral Halliday. Hyndman
McKay. Miller. Waghorn

Those 11 will definitely start, barring any injuries

30 Jan 2017 14:28:10
I take it that these selections mean Hodson is still injured?

30 Jan 2017 14:39:23
Nowak and Hughes if Souttar is out unless the new boys Oshiniwa or Struna can play a sweeper role. Here comes another park the bus routine. 5 at the back or 3 with two wing backs.

30 Jan 2017 15:00:27
Good call Kenny 89, Windass in for Halliday would make a difference. He is strong, knows how to pass the ball forward and might just be the answer in that holding midfield role. Only problem is that yet again we will be playing a player out of position in a role that we hoped we had filled with Barton, Rossiter or Crooks.

30 Jan 2017 16:25:36
Waghorn was terrible when he came on against motherwell, I would go with a front 3 of Mackay, Miller and Dodoo.

30 Jan 2017 16:13:00
My rangers team to start against hearts would be-
foderingham
tavernier, kiernan, hill, wallace
halliday
hyndman, toral
windass, miller, mckay

30 Jan 2017 18:12:23
windass is an attacking midfielder not a sitting one!

although I can't wait for rossiter to come back as that the only one who plays there naturally.

for me the team will be :wes
tav Kiernan hill Wallace
halliday
windass Hyndman
forrester McKay
miller.

reluctantly playing Kiernan. we need better cb than him he is worse than a man down at times and always shows goal side to strikers

30 Jan 2017 18:23:33
If Hodson fit and available he should be in team ahead of Tav.

30 Jan 2017 06:35:15
think its time for Halliday to sit on the bench to think about his poor performances might be the kick up the butt he needs but he know Warburton won't drop him and who would use put in his spot

30 Jan 2017 11:49:31
feel for Halliday he plays in a postion where you can't hide, does his best every week, ok may not be the best but he is willing to stand up and be counted and that is what we need

30 Jan 2017 11:55:22
He will be the best player we have for that position until Rossiter is fit again then put him in there for Halliday 👌🏻😜

30 Jan 2017 14:01:39
Blacknessgaffer If by 'stands up to be counted' you mean you mean for example at a throw in he hides behind the defending players and points at somewhere else to pass the ball then you are bang on!

He constantly makes passes to the nearest man to him whether they have 2 men on them or not just to get rid of the ball rather than do anything with it!

30 Jan 2017 15:06:11
He shouldn't be playing the holding mid role. Either he is good enough for a game in his own position or we should be deploying a defensive midfield player in that role.

Halliday is poor in that position. He is not comfortable under pressure, he panics, he makes short passes that put the team under pressure or gives the ball away and his tackling and positional sense for a defensive player is poor.

As a result Wallace and our two centre backs are put under unnecessary pressure and it messes up the entire defence.

While we have been unlucky with the Barton saga, Rossiter's injury problems and Crooks lack of match fitness none of this is an excuse for deploying a player in a position that they just can't play.

All that is happening is that we are seeing Halliday getting the same sort of stick that McCulloch got because the manager knows that he will play anywhere for the Club and as a result is playing him out of position to the detriment of the player and the team.

30 Jan 2017 18:17:06
tomusa who would u play in there as our holding midfielder is injured the other one left after 5 mins at the club so what cdm are u talking about.

he is good enough to play in his own position but is also the only player that is able to play there to an extent it isn't his forte but he tries his best and all that about hiding away I've personally not seen that at the games. I will be looking out for it non the less.
