Still seen nothing official reference Kent.

03 Sep 2019 00:18:19
Contract signed and sealed. 4 year deal.

02 Sep 2019 23:24:43
Looks like the board are going for the headlines, holding off the announcement until just before the window closes. After years of signing bargain basement players, fair play, if we do get Kent over the line, the board deserve to take a bow.

03 Sep 2019 06:54:37
The board can take a bow. What would you have said if they had got him b4 the of game.

02 Sep 2019 22:00:28
When are we going to get the official announcement on Kent folks, the other mob have officially announced Taylor, according to the ET, the deal was concluded at 19.32 tonight.

02 Sep 2019 23:27:31
Liverpool echo now questioning if Kent deal will go through.

03 Sep 2019 00:14:34
Glad it’s complete.

02 Sep 2019 21:04:37
Just like to welcome ryan kent back home,
to the most successful club in football.
Common wee kenty boy, let's go and can't wait to we all sing your song. "KENT, KENT WILL TEAR YOU APART AGAIN, KENT, KENT WILL TEAR YOU APART AGAIN"! Over the moon in what is a fantastic signing for the famous.

03 Sep 2019 08:27:10
A few of us had a feeling this day was coming. There was just something about it.

I was starting to feel that we didn’t need him, then Celtic happened and I thought again.

For me Stevie G was the one who got it wrong on Sunday. For me you only beat Celtic by matching them for energy. We also need a voice on the field, it’s missing during games of that magnitude. We need a McGregor on the pitch not between the sticks. It’s missing.

Well done to the board and the recruitment team.

I really hope this is the year for a trophy at the very least.

02 Sep 2019 18:41:50
Javier Hernandez signed for Sevilla for 8M would you have preferred him over Ryan Kent 7M it's unbelievable and fantastic we are talking about signing huge players.

02 Sep 2019 20:44:38
Sevilla will probably be paying him 100k a week though.

02 Sep 2019 20:55:51
ryan kent 22---------jh 31---end of story.

02 Sep 2019 21:47:58
aye and about 150k in wages lol.

02 Sep 2019 22:54:15
Difference between them mate, Hernandez is a proven player at the highest level, and will be demanding a wage of 100k+ whereas Kent has had one good season In about 6/ 7 so far in his career and will not be looking for half as much as Hernandez.

02 Sep 2019 18:25:25
Well all I can say was told u a long time back we were signing Kent and got shot down!

03 Sep 2019 08:28:23
I’m not sure you got shot down there was a few of us saying the same thing.

02 Sep 2019 18:19:02
If losing to them forced the board's hand in getting Kent back, I'll live with that.

Formula 1: Belgium Talking Points

02 Sep 2019 18:15:32
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Formula 1: Belgium Talking Points

02 Sep 2019 17:50:55
Did we have 25,000 fans at the airport to welcome him home?

02 Sep 2019 21:48:33
No, he drove here!

02 Sep 2019 23:10:07
Fair enough 👍🏼.

02 Sep 2019 17:33:43
Anyone thought that we could be getting Skrtel? He ripped up his contract in Italy after 3 weeks and now is a free agent?

02 Sep 2019 17:53:54
no chance--we already have adequate cover at centre back--unless he wants to play striker lol.

02 Sep 2019 19:25:50
Yeah I wasn’t sure about it either - thought I would stick it on to get peoples opinions. Could do us a season if Edmundson was to go on loan to gain experience tho?

02 Sep 2019 17:01:30
We were poor all over yesterday, usually players who control the ball well finding their first touch punting the ball 2 yards away, passing generally horrific.
Lets (through gritted teeth) give some respect to Celtic and dare I sat lennon Kicking the ball into touch from the kick-off and then full on pressing us, just as we did to them last season, rattled our lads imo. I don't understand our set up, without width, but it was wrong. Best team on the day won. What hurts more than anything is the best team did not have to play well to beat us.

02 Sep 2019 17:45:35
Spot on blue Pete. Set up was all wrong. Thing is, can these players in big games turn it on when they are favourites. Learning curve I hope.

02 Sep 2019 16:45:45
in answer to someones earlier post---maybe yesterday was a show of intent from the manager to the board that kent is an absolute necessity, especially also that jones is maybe out for a spell---brilliant if this is the case----make the entrance son and bring us 55.

02 Sep 2019 16:49:49
Kent was a necessity anyway in my eyes decee, as both jones and ojo couldn't lace kent's boots mate.

02 Sep 2019 17:07:07
I did wonder that yesterday when I saw the team, wouldn’t be the first time a manager has used a team selection to send a message to the board.

02 Sep 2019 17:17:42
Now he’s here

Signed.

02 Sep 2019 17:21:19
The 3 points lost could be the 3 points that cost us the league. Don't think Steven Gerrard would be that stupid to pull a stunt like that.

02 Sep 2019 17:32:28
Pleased he's signed, he'll definitely strengthen the team. Pleased for coldo as well.

02 Sep 2019 15:32:43
No wide players started yday. was this a crazy decision by SG. or a last fling of the dice for Kent to come in?

02 Sep 2019 16:12:19
Playing chess while the rest are playing draughts.

02 Sep 2019 16:42:30
possibly---good call and as fresh as it gets---maybe stevie isn't the rookie, (being nice) manager everyone suggests.

02 Sep 2019 15:41:02
I've been saying there was no way Kent is coming back for some time, HOWEVER, it appears it may be back on for £7million! Thought it was dead in the water, but i will admit i may have been wrong. let's see what happens. If my mate is lying, i''ve just made a bit of a tit out of myself huh.

02 Sep 2019 19:18:04
Patience is a virtue.

02 Sep 2019 19:32:33
But since this forum is full of people who won't hold it against you i'm sure you won't hear much about it 😂😂
All the best 👍👍.

02 Sep 2019 15:36:41
I think some people need to seriously calm down around the result. I wasn't at the game as I live down south now, however, I was home for the Europa League game and his tactics were spot on and the crowd were jubilant at the result.

Yes he got it wrong on the day, but jesus it's one game!

Learn, move on and let's not drop silly points like we did last season against the diddy teams. that's the sign of champions in the waiting, we need to go on a run of results until the next OF game.

In regards to people hammering Jordan Jones, yes that was a stupid tackle but am I the only one that's sort of glad he actually cares? Give me 11 players on that park that care about the club and the result any day, over some players I felt that didn't turn up (Aribo, Ojo) .

We need width to beat Celtic next time and Morelos up front from the start.

Get behind the team and manager boys, it's still all to play for!

02 Sep 2019 15:58:56
Yeah you are the only one mate.

02 Sep 2019 16:06:57
Jordan Jones injured himself getting sent off. Embarrassing.

02 Sep 2019 16:28:58
JJ is frustrated as the guy playing in front of him Ojo has been mince for the last few games and looks like he couldn't be bothered.

02 Sep 2019 18:04:32
Apparently might be a serious knee injury and out for a while. Total moron if true.

02 Sep 2019 18:52:50
Ojo loan spell contract should be terminated. I am sure we are paying a big loan fee and we have too many wingers. Really disappointed in the penny pinching attitude of Liverpool regarding Duncan and Kent. Come on City!

02 Sep 2019 21:20:57
Aye come on city. We will just forget you never gave us Phil Fodden lol.

02 Sep 2019 15:13:52
Been saying for years we need to invest much more in the team freebies and loans are not going to get us league titles i know we spend 3 million on helander but not spent much else, pay peanuts you get monkeys.

02 Sep 2019 15:40:23
In case you didn't notice, we were in financial turmoil for 7 years.

02 Sep 2019 15:11:27
Team selection reflected Thursday nights efforts.

We were sloppy in the middle today and no drive forward, missed the width in the first half and tried to draw everything into a midfield battle. No room or true skill that can unlock it for us in there at present.

Aribo was out of position, Tav had no attack or support to overlap and feed off.

Jordan jones should look long and hard, too many boys come and think of they play to the masses I’m a rangers great. Get your head down and work to your potential.

For me, we missed one type of player that would’ve supported Defoe well and snuck in and linked up with Tav and we sold him. Until Jordan jones or Ojo can string 30games behind them and fight tooth and nail for the team, I’ll always consider candy man a better option.

Heads up and we move onto the next game.

02 Sep 2019 14:53:34
Its one game, they had a bit of luck and we more up for it . we all need to settle down long season. but i do think its time to rethink who the captain should be because tav is no captain.

02 Sep 2019 15:24:46
Agreed. On yesterday’s performance Steven Davis is the man for the armband, though would also be happy with Ryan Jack, Scotty Arfield or big Katic - when it all kicked off yesterday Katic was the one in keeping the peace and dragging players away.

02 Sep 2019 14:54:52
The league championship is never won in September. SG will learn from this. We've had a good start to the season so keep the faith. Let's judge the team at Christmas.

02 Sep 2019 14:52:05
Bears i'm going to try and lift the spirits.

Last year we have Sadiq, Lassana, Ejaria and Worral all 4 of which would prove to be pish. Celtic were at full strength and we ran them close even though we had numerous ups and downs throughout that season.

We are still in all competitions and ahead of our points tally from last year. We have recruited better and own most of our players.

Celtic looked a patch on their previous incarnation today and we played to I would say 60% of our capability with a flawed initial set up, it was a scrappy game with no real quality from either team.

We were never going to win ever game of the season, probability says Celtic will beat us at some point, rather them than a diddy team, that was our downfall last year. We can only get better from today. We will come back stronger after the break and hopefully go on a run.

My only negative is loosing Kent and getting Ojo. Jones and Brandon will compensate for Candias but right now there is a big hole were Kent used to be. I think he scared teams, managers and lifted the support. Ojo should be returned to sender.

02 Sep 2019 15:18:27
well tjbb, the rumours are flying around that kent is on his way for £7m, you're right about last year, we need to beat all of the other teams then the OF games take care of themselves, too many points lost last year against the "lesser" teams.

02 Sep 2019 16:51:19
If we are going to ignore the performance and tactics - I have a view
I have been saying on a few occasions now that the way we play needs everyone on the gun right from the off and to keep it going for 90+ minutes. I've also said I thought some of them were looking tired already Arfield in particular.
Thursday night was a long hard shift, - and I think a lot of them on Sunday looked fooked!
Hence maybe why SG went for the let's not get beat option, which backfired dramatically - -he knew these guys couldn't play their normal style at normal pace for another 90 minutes .
now that for me is more worrying than the result, because the big games will just keep coming. Can we play like Thursday night 2 games on the trot.

02 Sep 2019 14:46:12
Absolutely love stevie g but he sold that game with that team selection. Celtic had 2 new full backs with no old firm experience and we played no wingers,? Embarrassing, as soon as I saw team, I knew we were beat before a ball was kicked.

02 Sep 2019 14:44:24
Our fans were just a bit too smug, too confident and too noisy.

Celtic are a talented and strong team and they outplayed and outfought us.

Was never going to be a stick on win for us but we got too big for our boots.

As I said before, keep our powder dry and let the rest make the noise until we have something to shout about.

02 Sep 2019 15:03:13
Nothing to do with our fans. The players thought they just needed to turn up and win, no dig and it was flat.

02 Sep 2019 14:41:16
Ojo is nowhere near good enough, aribo isn't much better far too slow. I can't believe gerrard took kamara off for ojo. Why didn't jones play from the start. Anyone who thinks we are better without Kent is deluded. 👍.

02 Sep 2019 14:59:41
After one game? Ojo pretty much beat the Danish mob single-handed and Aribo had been a key player so far this season. Thank **** you aren't in charge of a team Coldo.

02 Sep 2019 15:04:12
I agree on Ojo however Aribo has been a standout so far since signing and Kamara was having a nuke on sunday.

02 Sep 2019 15:19:52
Ojo beat the danes single handed lay off it souness, he started off average whan he came to us and has got nothing but worse I've said it before brings nothing to the table.

02 Sep 2019 15:41:42
I don't know what games yous have been watching.

02 Sep 2019 15:52:07
ojo has brought more goals and assists than kent did when he first came. Aribo is a young lad, who will learn. Looks like Kent is coming back, that will hopefully cheer up coldo!

02 Sep 2019 14:50:47
kenty's coming back home!

I kent believe it.

superb!

02 Sep 2019 14:49:53
Don't know what's happened to Kamara, at moment he looks every inch a 50k player gone so far backwards, IMO Docherty should be given a chance no worse than Kamara from what we've watched so far.

02 Sep 2019 15:05:02
Kamara is the shadow of himself last year. Takes way to long on the ball and his use of it is poor. Shows how much of a confidence game it is.

02 Sep 2019 14:44:35
Excited as I am about Kent, here’s a prediction - we will regret letting Dorrans go. We saw yesterday that Kamara, Aribo etc. have a long way to go and we are paying up the contract of a top class experienced midfielder. Guarantee he will go to Killie and be terrific this season. Probably come back to haunt us with a goal too knowing our luck.

02 Sep 2019 14:46:38
He would never played for us again. Let him go to Hearts or Killie and knock some points off the top 4.

02 Sep 2019 15:10:18
He’s not going out on loan, he’s going on a permanent so able to play against us too. Do you honestly thing a fit Dorrans, which I’m assured he is now, is not better than what we saw from Kamara, Aribo and Ojo yesterday?

02 Sep 2019 15:15:54
Souness, agree to let him go, hope he does not score against us.

02 Sep 2019 14:10:01
Coldo my pal, think its time 2 get the songbook out! How does it go again mate 🤔🤔. I remember, "KENT, KENT WILL TEAR U APART AGAIN, KENT, KENT WILL TEAR U APART AGAIN! 😄😄👍. Like you coldo and a good few others on here, I'm absolutely over the moon that it looks very much like KENT is coming home. We always wanted him mate and said as much repeatedly on here.
GANNETT10,how you feeling that the best left winger within our scottish game is coming back to ibrox? You and you weren't alone thought we had better than kent? 😂😂, don't make me laugh, kenty is streets ahead of anything currently at rangers, in his position!

02 Sep 2019 14:20:21
Where is Souness? He’s been on here for months saying it’s not going to happen. forget about Kent. he’s never coming back. I thought he is in the know?

02 Sep 2019 14:40:17
Haaaa. Fair play, i did say he wasn't coming for ages and it looks like i was wrong - good signing though!

02 Sep 2019 14:40:23
Sir rock it’s not over the line yet.

02 Sep 2019 14:47:13
Well done to the rangers board for backing steven gerrard, by bringing ryan kent home. 😄👏. The board have most definitely pushed the boat out here big time, as at £7million ryan kent becomes the 2nd most expensive signing, in our history. The £12million signing of big tore andre flo was our most expensive ever!

02 Sep 2019 14:50:11
Souness I like you have to hold my hand up and say I was also wrong 👍🏻.

02 Sep 2019 14:55:47
Me too much respect Souness!

02 Sep 2019 14:57:55
Aye g4rry - fair play to you dude, both Liverpool and Rangers did say he wasn't coming originally. However, things change pretty fast in football!

02 Sep 2019 15:18:57
Kent not quite over line yet. Remember I said early June he would sign on Monday after we qualified for group stages.
Also talking to source today, says it is 5.5 with 20% sell on.
Looks like four or five year deal.

02 Sep 2019 15:20:44
Souness u like us have an opinion, on I a site like this you are absolutely entitled to it.
I can’t be bothered with those who want to gloat, we r all bears who want the same thing 55.

02 Sep 2019 14:04:45
Okay guys for goodness sake cut out the hysteria, we lost 3 pints (4) games into a 38 game season, non stop moaning about SG, and various players. I wanted Helander on for Goldson at half time, £3.5 million players don't sit on a bench when goals are being gifted like Goldson did yesterday, and, he has looked shaky in the past 3 games. Someone else made the point about getting a big centre forward in, I agree wholeheartedly, Defoe strength wise won't cut it all season, and play with 2 wingers from now on, and we will get more goals from Alfie in particular. On to Right Back now, we need to play Flanagan in that position, and persevere with Barisic at Left Back, he will get better, you don't play for Croatia if you're a bad player. Just my opinion guys, I know everyone has their own thoughts on how to improve things.

02 Sep 2019 15:06:38
Didn't we pay similar fee for goldson? Nothing to do with fee's they deserved to play yesterday however I would now have the big swede in for goldson next game.

02 Sep 2019 13:38:51
Hastie away out on loan. Now is the time to announce Kent 🤞🏻.

02 Sep 2019 13:20:04
ok ryan---in yi come son---give us 55---yesterday is gone--tomorrow still has to come. europa group stages---3 points off the top and all the cups to play for---lessons learned --mon the gers.

02 Sep 2019 13:42:05
Lessons indeed, glad SG has held his hands up, let’s learn from it and move on.

02 Sep 2019 13:16:54
The deal for kent is meant to be back on 7 million and a sell on clause for permanent transfer of kent.
Hopefully this means Ojo on the right side and kent on the left and arfield back in the centre as he is wasted on the right hand side. 2 Wingers to start are a must in this Rangers team going forward.

02 Sep 2019 14:04:58
I am one for backing rangers players and a wouldn’t give the boy stick when at the games but cards on the table ojo isn’t going to help much too get us back to where we need to be he dosnt beat the full back anuff puts a good shift in but not a starter in my eyes.

02 Sep 2019 14:12:47
Bluebell get what u r saying, he is just a bulky ejaria, little heart no real end product against the better teams.

02 Sep 2019 14:15:20
Ojo looks much better on the right hand side but jury still out on him for now but arfield on the right side is not the answer either.

02 Sep 2019 13:09:54
A few questions to be rationally answered without the disappointment of the result still being a factor.
1/ Does anyone think we were outplayed by Celtic?
2/ Did our own tactics / team selection contribute more to our downfall than anything to do with how Celtic approached the game?
3/ Was anyone actually that impressed by Celtic? That's the first time I've saw them this season and I didn't see this free scoring side everyone was raving about.
There's a lot of football to be played between now and May. First blood to them. But we had a lot of players who had a off day.
In Gerrard We Trust
Let's Go!
#55
🔴⚪️🔵.

02 Sep 2019 13:20:33
1. YES
2. Not really, tactics were naff but the best team won.
3. That's the worry, Celtic were not at their best but they still won.
4. Cannot have off days when your playing Celtic, if you cannot get motivated for an old firm game what are you doing wearing a Rangers jersey.

02 Sep 2019 13:22:23
1-in a way yes as we let them control the tempo in first half by giving them the front foot from the off

2-100% yes called it as soon as the team sheet was out still can't belive SG tried to play aribo and arfield as support players for defoe

3-no, we should have pressed they're back line not give them an easy day and allow they an easy confidence building afternoon.

02 Sep 2019 13:23:23
Tbh mate we deserved to lose yesterday it happens but i still believe we will win the league. No need for over reaction what so ever. Celtic didn't look like great shakes yesterday and if we had played with a winger from the off it would have been a different game IMO. But plenty football left to be played. Kent the final piece of the jigsaw and bring on the next OF at park head!

02 Sep 2019 13:47:39
1. Outplayed, hard to say, but they looked fitter, faster and better in all dept's
2. Absolutely, knew we were screwed the minute I saw the team selection
3. Again, hard to say as we were so bad, did it make them look good.

02 Sep 2019 14:35:50
1. Outplayed no. There fist goal came from Goldson giving the ball away in our territory. Second goal we’re chasing the game but I can’t recall them knocking the ball about and outplaying us. I thought the game was very scrappy.

2. Yes, I feel SG wanted Jack, Kamara, Aribo and Arfield all on the pitch which sacrificed our wide men. Should have left Kamara out in my opinion

3. No, they had a game plan and stuck to it. If we went with our usual style and attacked them I’m sure we’d have won. Celtic needed us to have 5 or 6 men on an off day. Which the did.

I fee the Legia game took a lot out of us. They had a canter with the game already tied up. Don’t get me wrong we deserved nothing yesterday but if your having an off day you make sure your direct opponent doesn’t get the better of you. (i. e Flanagan)

02 Sep 2019 14:48:47
Outplayed? Fitter? Faster?
Outplayed - Nothing to do with our full midfield having an off day? How many short passes did Jack make? Who’s been outstanding this season. Kamara hasn’t reached the heights of last season. Even Mr Reliable, Davis wasn’t at his best. Aribo was poor for the 2nd game in a row. But here’s a young man with bags of ability who’s stepped up from League 1 in England and we’re asking him to turn it on week in week out and people are already questioning his ability?
Fitter/ Faster - I only seen one team try and play football the full game and one team try and spoil the game at every opportunity. And that same team had a few players constantly going down with cramp!
So yes, sore result to take but I never saw nothing in that Celtic side to fear going forward. 👍.

02 Sep 2019 13:06:56
7m for Kent accepted apparently! From a club who are skint we are doing no bad. Shame it wasn't done before yesterday, but better late than never.

02 Sep 2019 14:38:48
kriss I would not get to cocky about spending money. Walter smith spent lots 2007/ 2008 and look how that turned out. remember all the for every fiver we shall spend a tenner. someone is backing the club but that could stop tomorrow.

02 Sep 2019 12:51:59
Seems we have made a permanent move for Kent he’s expected to sign today fee undisclosed, 4lads and others tweeting it.

02 Sep 2019 12:47:21
"Ryan Kent is close to agreeing a permanent deal with Rangers" according to BBC Sport transfer deadline day updates page.

02 Sep 2019 12:46:29
Kent apparently signing today. good news. Pleased for the club and Coldo!

02 Sep 2019 12:45:14
Jim white tweeting ryan kent on his way to ibrox. million deal.

02 Sep 2019 12:43:03
Sorry to add to to downers here but yesterday really hurts. "The transfer window will be quality not quantity, with three marquee signings"

Anyone feel that turned out to be accurate?

02 Sep 2019 14:52:01
Went for quantity but happy Kent's back.

02 Sep 2019 11:59:14
I don't like the fact that celtic seem to be sweeping up the best scots players, and we rarely look at scottish players, and if we do out they go on loan. Also concerned that he can't seem to see that we require a big centre forward up front to hold the ball up etc. been saying it all summer, and yesterday was proof positive.

02 Sep 2019 11:24:09
Couple of observations from yesterday, singing was appropriate, funny no praise in papers.
Morelos is learning, walked away from couple through the back challenges, went down once when hit, Celtic player booked.
Best bit julienne having a moan wee Alf indicating dry your eyes.

02 Sep 2019 13:16:17
John 25 he does seem to have calmed his temper But he did kick out at LEGO muncher 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺.

02 Sep 2019 13:31:27
Cunny I honestly never saw that, if he did not one media outlet paper repotting it.
I see improvements in him.

02 Sep 2019 10:49:33
Ah well, merry monday everyone.

I had great faith in Stevie when he arrived then slowly but surely he has proven to me (and Isuspect thousands of others) that he is never going to be a successful manager at any top club.

He has consistently been making stupid decisions and using our club as an experiment for his unqualified ideas on tactical expertise.

I now predict, should we lose another 2 or 3 games we should have won in our quest to topple celts and continue to not break down teams that park the bus then the rage of our dedicated fans will boil over and Stevie will be shown the door this season.

Disagree if you will and say it's only the start of the season, however ask yourself this what trophies has he won since his arrival or our chances of any again this season.

02 Sep 2019 10:58:25
As sore as yesterday was can't deny he's led us as the only team to qualify twice in a row from full qualifications rounds in europa league
I agree some questionable choices at times but I'd be stunned if he went mid season
Think he'll get full season.

02 Sep 2019 11:13:56
Am well aware he hasn't won a trophy yet, has he made mistakes? yes. We have signed a lot of new players. We have started this season well, yesterday was our first bad performance/ result. The game yesterday didn't decide anything (other than 3Points) . I think we'll win a trophy this season. I actual think we'll win the league this season.

02 Sep 2019 11:33:26
Guy's, when a few of our mids cannot win or compete for the 50/ 50 balls, we play with no width, and a number of the team seemed to excel in passing the ball straight out of play. Then add the fact that big Goldson tried to be a Worrol for the day, it is no surprise we had a real bad day. let's just hope it is not repeated.

02 Sep 2019 11:55:17
I admire your optimism mrgrumpy. We'll win nothing on that showing yesterday. Yes, we went in level on points with them but before that, we struggled to break down St Mirren, last gasp winner v Kilmarnock when before that they missed a sitter to go 2-1 up, and Hibs look rubbish this season.

02 Sep 2019 12:09:27
Hysteria utter rubbish
leave the man to get on with his job or ho away.

02 Sep 2019 12:33:22
Hahahahahaha you sir need to lay off the whiskey, It was an off day. rubbish happens. Stevie G was did everything for this club, improved the current lot and brought in some good players. At the end of the day the manager had a plan it didn't work but goldson, jack, kamara and katic where bigger villains. The players where off the pace. End of.

02 Sep 2019 12:34:57
I think your talking nonsense.

02 Sep 2019 12:38:38
A poster yesterday (forget who so apologies) made a very valid point that even when Fredi came on and JJ too, did we even look any better? The formation was a strange one, but we were guff for the whole 90 minutes. Too many players we are still hoping play beyond their limits. JJ, ojo etc will have good games but wil have poor ones too. Also really hope Aribo doesn't turn out another coulibaly. Fans loved him start of last year only for him to turn out pretty average.

02 Sep 2019 12:54:36
Let’s all stop and think this one through our transfer window this summer has been poor look at the starting line up yesterday only one new signing in it Aribo but we were minus Kent and Candais who would have played I sure, so for me we were weaker yesterday and I look round the signings and don’t see anyone who excites me we have a bigger squad but no better players.

02 Sep 2019 12:57:39
Think you need to take a step back. One game lost of importance. Qualified 2 seasons running into Europe the hardest way possible. It will come. But to right him off like that is poor. Really poor.

02 Sep 2019 13:01:12
Rangers offer 7 million for Ryan Kent SSN, talks ongoing.

02 Sep 2019 13:11:27
Billy blue I for one will disagree. Can you do me a fav and look at our squad prior to SG and his team arriving under pedro.
Yes yesterday's result hurt but that was our first defeat this season from 16 games. So I'm not going to over react to one defeat in 16.

We truly have a squad capable of winning the league.
In SG we trust.

7 mill bid for Kent submitted. A player that can provided that wee bit of something special.

02 Sep 2019 13:31:17
Blue Billy, think your assertion bout SG OTT. He has one bad tactical game, certainly gainst Tims and it hurts, but you have us showing him the door at earliest opportunity. And your assertion bout his use of foreign gainst Scottish players, cmon, Scotland ain't exactly overflowing with raw talent. I think the players, part from Grezda, he has built, is spot on. Finances withstanding, another forward and we'll be bang on.

02 Sep 2019 15:18:24
How fickle we are as Rangers fans? A couple of days ago we were all looking confidently forward to seeing them off after a decent start to the season. Now it's all doom and gloom. Yes, I agree Gerrard got it wrong with his line up and tactics, we gifted first goal, Morelos should have started and we never tested them wide. I am sure, though, well I am hopeful, that he will see where we went wrong, see that Morelos must start as often as possible, see we can't play without width and see where teams are vulnerable and line up accordingly.

But he needs to realise it NOW! And we, as fans, need to keep up the amazing support we give, not just when things are going well, but when we hit a bump in the road, which I know we will. That what makes us Glasgow Rangers!

02 Sep 2019 10:31:11
Anyone worked out yet what Gerard was trying to do yesterday? I haven't. Why he tried to play everything narrow through the middle is beyond me. We had 3 in midfield in Davis, Jack, and, Kamara and they had 2 but still won the midfield, why? Had Candeias and Kent still been with us, he would surely have played both. So, does he not trust JJ, Ojo, and what's happened to Hastie? Why is he rotating the team already? Yes, it'll be a long season but we're only 4 games in and he's tinkering. Get the points on the board early and then rotate as the season goes on, is that not the best policy?, the players shouldn't be tired yet? Due to trying to be too clever he's handed the momentum to them. Yesterday was a massive opportunity and we blew it completely. For those who listened to Gerards post match interview, I was shocked when he said players deserve credit for going in neck and neck yesterday, wow, really, after 3 games players should be getting credit. Now, I know I'll get stick for the above, but that gutless, clueless, inept performance will take a long time to forget.

02 Sep 2019 10:56:56
Harsh to critise Gerrard but he was way off yesterday and the lack of options going forward is worrying. Stewart Jones hastie ain't an upgrade on candeias.

02 Sep 2019 11:18:12
Gerrard got it wrong when playing them . again! I guess he thought they would set up for us playing wide and did the opposite. He should have set up to get at that back 4.

02 Sep 2019 11:18:30
think your forgetting how up and down Candeias was. He was a journeyman, who did okay for us, nothing more. SG tactics and picked players were wrong yesterday. He kind of said that himself. He's a young, inexperienced manager, he's made some mistakes but I think we're a better team now and I think we'll still have a good season.

02 Sep 2019 11:40:46
He played narrow against them in last season's last old firm game at ibrox and we beat them with ease 2-0
So as much as i thought he should have played with much more width yesterday, because of their weakness in the full back areas, he still wasn't solely to blame, as way too many of our players, just didn't do it yesterday. Sometimes tactics can be a smokescreen when there's other things to blame. No knee jerk reactions from me at this stage of the season.

02 Sep 2019 12:00:31
we badly need a big man up front and that was clear yesterday. why he hasn't signed that position totally mistyfies me and may well get him sacked if not addressed.

02 Sep 2019 12:11:32
Sirstruth

Tried to mstch them. stop them dominating kamara n aribo both waste of space.

02 Sep 2019 12:27:13
No hard to criticise
Whu he keep changong the teamlet them settle.

02 Sep 2019 09:14:05
Rangers were beaten by a better team on the day, but they were helped by SG tactics, setting up in defence mode from the kickoff. We were never going to score with the team we sent out, and if you don't score the best you can hope for is a draw. Missing the pace and trickery of Kent and Candeias, had they been playing then Celtic would have been pushed back, and the weaknesses in their defence would have at least been tested.

I have now seen Aribo and Ojo attempting to play centre forward at times which is nonsense. Defoe is showing his age, was a great player, but his touch at times is poor, a sign the legs are gone. We can make excuses for this result, but we struggled to break down St. Mirren last week, so the signs are there. Cannot see us winning the league this year as the transfer window is shut and we are not good enough.

02 Sep 2019 09:57:48
As much as I'm disappointed with the result. We only have player on the Free market. Which have looked OK but not to compete to stop 10 in row. The only player who cost money was center half sitting on bench. SG can't change a game. his tactics are rotten. Us fans always get to excited. We struggled against St mirren. definitely in from the start how many off side. Got to look forward and upward. We need to spend money on quality not jyst fill gabs. Plenty gaps. Could be bye bye 55.

02 Sep 2019 12:39:41
Only Davis and Flannagan showed up yesterday they let Christie and Forrest quite rest a the team bottled it.

02 Sep 2019 08:57:10
Had time to reflect and truthfully still as gutted as I was too many on here saying celtic not that great ok where does that leave us? I'm still baffled by selecting the team he did worst thing about it was they looked like the home team! as a fan of any team you have to accept at times you'll be beaten by it was the manner of the defeat that's unacceptable.

Why did we spend £3M on a defender who can't get a game we pursued Edmondson he can't even get on bench, Docherty where's he? why buy Hastie then loan him out? been as well doing a deal and leaving him at motherwell
Left back been issue over a year still not fixed
Oh well back to work to put up with the digs.

02 Sep 2019 11:03:02
How many CH’s do you want on the bench?
And Docherty isn’t good enough even though we’d all love him to prove us wrong as he is a bluenose like the rest of us.

02 Sep 2019 11:14:24
Good to see the fans who when the going gets tough, run for cover, slag the manager, the players the board.
We r rangers back them.

02 Sep 2019 11:25:51
There is a lot of hysteria on here but there are worrying signs. Yesterday some of the passing was dreadful not least Goldson's that led to the goal. Tav can't keep the ball in play from a corner. Bar his one shot I thought OJO was terrible. Everybody has a bad day but for so many to have it on the same day beggars belief. Murphy, Dorrans, Grezda, Hastie, Ojo all at this club and none puts in a shift like candeis did against Celtic. Another worrying sign is another window goes by and we are in deficit ( circa £5m on Helander, Edmundson, Hastie and Aribo) and less than half a million in for Candeis and Hardie added to the fact that we are constantly paying up paying up players contracts shows one thing, Nobody rates our players. Don't get me started on the off field activities with Sports Direct! It would seem that our lawyers are as good as many of the team! Not up to the top league.

02 Sep 2019 11:38:28
Letsgo point is why pay 3m and don't play him to pay that suggests you think he's better than what he had Edmondson in general has been conspicuous if doc ain't making it loan him sell him do something hastie again what was the point.

02 Sep 2019 12:30:46
Docherty well good enough
Kamara was a disgrace in that first half
Embarrassing.

02 Sep 2019 13:16:12
Well said John, everyone heaps praise until we lose a game, then they turn on anyone and everyone. Bad performance, move on to next game which happens to be a huge Europen game!

02 Sep 2019 07:29:17
Not really sure where we go from here. yes it's only one defeat, but the lack of creativity in the team has not been addressed in 3 transfer windows by S.G. Even if we had got Kent, they have Forrest, Johnston, Rogic and new winger/ s who can all beat a man and play "between the lines".

All we have is what you see, a team of passers who will run all day but lack the ability to really change a game. Yes the players we need cost decent money and are hard to find, but without them we still have the same failings - we have struggled to break down Killie, St Mirren, Legia already this season

Yeah this post is defeatist, unfortunately it's also realistic. Ojo and Jones don't come near what they have and won't get the job done.

02 Sep 2019 09:40:10
Couldn’t agree more I know we will be slaughtered but just look at our team we really lack any cutting edge this transfer window hasn’t been great we have brought in wingers but he didn’t play any of them yet I believe if we still had Kent and Cadais they would have played so does he trust these new wingers, why Defoe he isn’t strong enough to play in his own Morelos should have started we still haven’t sorted out the left back slot Flanagan offers little going forward I’m sure the manager doesn’t fully trust Barisic and Halliday is never a left back, midfield is full of workers we struggle with creating we are not as good as a lot of people think so why change the formation of our team on the day of the biggest game of the season the players struggled with it, it was the same last year he chopped and changed our defence never settled and as for possession we give the ball away far to often the first goal was a lack of concentration and it’s alway important in these games as you then chase the game, that performance yesterday was as bad as I’ve seen.

02 Sep 2019 10:26:54
thought the team selection and hence tatics were very defensive and bordering on criminal considering.

SG has to carry can for most of it, and sending out so many players on loan is very silly. We are now down to no real wingers. ojo isn't really a winger, jones is out. so its what we have in the development. or more likely playing players out of position.

We won't stop 9, or 10 this way.

02 Sep 2019 13:22:25
The tactics cost us full stop, Celtic played like it was a european away tie and they played it well.

Goldson pass was a shocker, takes himself completely out of position and then passes straight to an opponent one pass later Eduard through on goal 0-1,

Aribo needs to get his act together same applies to ojo.

There is nothing frightening about this celtic team they are not any better than us, we just gifted them this game which is frustrating, play our best team and go for them.

02 Sep 2019 14:45:19
No. they are better than us for the reasons I said, no creativity

Kent should have been first player signed, not the last - jones, hastie, Stewart, Ono, Jones and barker all signed - why?
