02 Oct 2016 21:48:52
Don't want to sound cynical here but let's not get carried away again. it was partick thistle we beat, they are rubbish. let's get a few wins under our belt and then we can assess how they are performing. Beat hearts and that will be a step in the right direction.

02 Oct 2016 22:13:19
Some got carried away in the wrong direction after a 1-1 draw with Hamilton.

Outplayed Aberdeen who are a better team than Hearts.

There is no doubt how well the team is performing. It's the taking of chances as apposed to a poor defence that has cost us crucial points this season.

If the players up front, whether it's Garner, Waghorn, Miller or whoever else can convert there chances along with the way we play most weeks, we'll have a successful season.

There are a number of players in the forward areas we're excited about seeing. If the likes of Windass, Holt, McKay, Dodoo, Wagjorn, Kranjcar and Garner can hit full fitness and play consistently well, we should be coasting most games.

02 Oct 2016 22:32:49
You say if they start taking their chances your manager has tried many variances of a front three mid three out your named players and none seem to work is he going to keep changing midfield and forwards constantly and with each passing week the fans will say let's get behind thevtesm and management it will come good but really will it?

02 Oct 2016 23:17:58
Many variances of a front three and midfield three?

Having watched Rangers every game this season and all of last season, it's kind of obvious, (once everyone fit), who'll play in two of the front three positions and MW has been fairly consultant in that regard.

Waghorn and McKay are certain starters in a MW team. McKay on the left and Waghorn on the right and I doubt he'll change it to put Waghorn down the middle. Miller and Garner will likely fight it out for the main CF position.

As for the midfield, Holt and Halliday played about every game, (when able) last season and will likely play a lot this season. Windass likely along side them with Kranjcar, Rossiter, Crooks and Forrester competing for places.

Even the defence Wallace, Tavernier, Wilson will likely play a lot this season as they did last, with Senderos, Hill and Keirnan competing for a place.

03 Oct 2016 08:27:50
Rossiter, when fit, must play, Windass needs a run of games, Kranjcar
is with out a doubt our most creative midfielder if he was not as slow as me he'd be first on the team sheet.

03 Oct 2016 10:40:28
Bluepete, i'd imagine kranjcar will play most of his games against the teams that are normally bottom 6 teams, as those teams will sit in trying to catch us on the brake. if kranjcar gets up to a higher form of fitness he will play more often.

03 Oct 2016 14:03:47
I don't think barton will get a game for us again!

I love halliday and holt together
and I would have rossiter on with them.
that being said windass looks like he could be one of the best but couldn't take rossiter place as cdm.
so who will be dropped if anyone to play windass halliday? holt?
this is why i'd go for 4 or 5 in the middle while still being very attacking minded and defend high and as a unit!
but hey I just want my best players on the pitch at the same time . I know this won't happen.

03 Oct 2016 16:48:54
Why does MW persist with Miller and Mckay?

03 Oct 2016 16:18:29
On terms of getting carried away - it's never sensible to judge on one or two games, either way.

Been a sticky start to the season but plenty time left. Celtic are a much stronger side so this season is about adapting to higher level, improving as a team and making sure we can offer a proper challenge next season.

Personally I don't believe kings claims that there will be investment in the team in January, so we need to make the absolute best of what we have.

03 Oct 2016 19:06:33
Paulsrfc getting carried away works both ways.

03 Oct 2016 17:52:04
James stirling, our defence is not quick enough for us to play 5 in midfield,5 in midfield is only used to cram up the midfield to prevent fast flowing opposition from playing there there usual fast free flowing football. stifling the midfield is not the answer in my opinion.

04 Oct 2016 15:33:22
Deeb, because McKay has created most of our goals, and an aging Miller is still the best we have upfront.

02 Oct 2016 21:56:12
Have to say guys on the posts from the celtic fans regarding our beloved bear now passed.

Wow! I'm actually blown away by the compassion shown, please take a big pat on the back, I know we all love a good go at each other but u guys have shown everyone that the west of Scotland isn't just about small minded bigotry, I am proud that when it comes right down to it we are actually above all that and can pull together in the face of adversity! I think our poor brother would b proud he could unite even a small majority!

#proudtobaweegie.

02 Oct 2016 23:42:57
Well said football is football but life πŸ˜• every person with a brain should show consolidation with the family in this time of needing.

03 Oct 2016 09:01:29
Spot on lads. May the big man rest in peace.

03 Oct 2016 14:07:26
there are always one or two who spoil it saw that boy on twitter claiming his account was hacked whe he said hope all of them die on the bus!
all the celtic fans I know aren't that bigoted and nasty.

and to try cover up what was a d*ck move is just wrong hope celtic barr him from their ground for being a wee pr*ck.

03 Oct 2016 19:22:18
bollocks to banning him, prob never set foot in a stadium, needs a good boot in the plums the degenerate.

02 Oct 2016 20:08:09
Never seen your comment about kranjar W15 but just read it back there. Good minds think alike.

02 Oct 2016 17:46:22
What can we expect to get out of the CW court case in the coming weeks.
As I see it it's only him that have any charges against him that have stuck. CG and the rest seem to have evaded any charges so far but if CW starts singing can any rubbish be flung CG and the rest of that crews way. Would love all the con artists to be jailed.

02 Oct 2016 17:57:01
he will probably wriggle out of it as well, hope not as its been dragging on too long, don't think the prosecution has got much on the scumbag.

02 Oct 2016 20:24:37
Have the others done deals with the powers that be? Time will tell.

02 Oct 2016 20:29:44
Donald Findlay is that scumbag whites defence lawyer you couldn't make it up.

02 Oct 2016 21:32:55
Cases with complex financial deals at the heart of them are notoriously difficult to prosecute as your average layman can't understand them and jury's get bamboozled.

02 Oct 2016 21:09:40
Jammydoger, i'm sure i read that if any action is to be taking in regards cg and the other (except white) that rangers would have to bring a private prosecution against them.

03 Oct 2016 16:23:22
Personally I wouldn't be shocked if whyte gets away with it. Others already have.

02 Oct 2016 17:30:05
How solid was big Wes yesterday? I must say he looked on top form yesterday, could be the start of a great goalkeeper, only thing bad i noticed was that lapse in concentration when he took too long to clear the ball, nearly lost a goal but all in all great performance.

02 Oct 2016 21:36:25
I really like wes it has to b said, give me a heartattack at times but what a shot stopper, reactions r second to none, would much rather wes than the 2 guys causing indecision in the east end.

03 Oct 2016 16:26:09
Gordon is a better keeper, sorry. I'm not sure about de vries.

Wes is a decent keeper but that's all, he does make mistakes and has let in some really soft goals.

Don't think there is much between him and gilks.

03 Oct 2016 16:34:00
its today craig whyte is at court, getting legal aid is a joke.

03 Oct 2016 21:01:48
Bigdimps5, going down the legal aid road because he can't afford to pay a lawyer, the guys got some neck on him. i honestly hope he gets jailed as he definitely knew what he was doing. they all knew it was a big scam. that's what these persons do for a living, rather than earn there money honestly.

02 Oct 2016 15:49:39
Does anyone else think Danny Wilson has come onto a game this season, would definitely keep Wilson and hill as our CB partnership.

02 Oct 2016 16:24:10
Said last season that the issue was RK and not DW. He in particular relieved a lot of unwarranted criticism last season. He is technically as good as any player we have outside Barton and Kranjcar.

02 Oct 2016 16:24:19
I agree imo Wilson has been much better recently.

02 Oct 2016 16:55:56
He steadier than RK but is still woefully slow and will struggle badly against anyone with pace.

02 Oct 2016 17:23:41
danny wilsons only downfall is his pace but with halliday in front of him it doesn't seem as big an issue. he's a very good player and one of my first names on the teamshet.

02 Oct 2016 21:41:57
I agree that Wilson is always better alongside a more experienced cb! He has great talent but he isn't the dominant cb of a 2! If he has a talker/ organiser alongside him he is a very accomplished defender, just look at his partnership with weir. The guy has all the attributes to be a top defender but lacks the decisiveness to be the leader at the back imo, it's not a criticism from me as I really rate him, some have leadership in them and some don't, can't be taught unfortunately, I hope Wilson is with us for the rest of his career.

02 Oct 2016 21:31:35
Agree. Wilson was excellent in the Hearts team that won the Championship. No doubt he is a good player but even Goughy would struggle with this style of play and formation.

I suspect that Keirnan is not as bad as he is "credited" too.

02 Oct 2016 22:13:12
Bruised I bet u r right, the 2 just aren't compatible, got to be either or in my opinion, it's Wilson and hill for me at this time although that's an opinion formed on senderos''s attitude in the old firm admittedly! I can't forgive that "get me off the park cause this is brutal" feeling I got from him.

02 Oct 2016 22:55:45
Danny Wilson does a lot of talking and organising. More than you realise. Born to be and has been a captain his whole career.

03 Oct 2016 09:15:27
Have to agree with all the above posters regarding our centre half danny wilson and his form of late, we all knew danny had class when he was young at ibrox and playing beside davie weir when he broke into our first team but left for liverpool far too early and it resulted in his career stalling, now he looks as though he's moving on to another level again which is brilliant for us because we'll have a terrific centre half again at our disposal and who knows even a future glasgow rangers captain! He's now the best centre half we have at rangers imo, could honestly end up being a rangers legend in years to come!

03 Oct 2016 16:29:44
I have always thought that our central defence is a bit exposed at times and that can lead to our defenders looking poor.

That being said Kiernan has looked a little put his depth. Giving him a new deal imo was a mistake.

Wilson is a good defender when game is in front of him although he does need to have more awareness of runners, particularly at crosses.

03 Oct 2016 21:08:19
Scottygdf, i said the same a few months ago in regards to wilson, though he is not a child, he should be able to play without guidance. imho, he has been around long enough, he should be able to stand on his own 2 feet. the way he played along side big davie, he should be ruling the defence. he should be barking out the orders.

02 Oct 2016 15:47:44
Our defence needs abit more aggression and players who aren't afraid to get right into tackles so for me Calum Paterson has to be our No1 target.

02 Oct 2016 21:05:40
Agree would be a great investment would like to see him at CB not sure we could afford him tho.

03 Oct 2016 03:49:10
lets just be happy we are still a club at the end of the season, if we have cash great, but i would rather the leccy stayed on than we made signings.

03 Oct 2016 06:20:22
Think paterson's contract is up at end of season sure I read that in the paper yesterday.

03 Oct 2016 07:53:12
smashing then, let's get him in.

03 Oct 2016 16:31:25
Pretty certain he's going down south.

02 Oct 2016 14:42:49
I thought Kranjar played well yesterday and oozed quality with his distribution. I know he's not quick but I think of Pirlo and he was the master at seeing a pass and being one step ahead of everyone else. Could Kranjar be our Pirlo? Thoughts bears?

02 Oct 2016 15:04:29
Wizards 11,I posted as much myself yesterday stating that kranjcar can be our pirlo!

02 Oct 2016 21:23:26
Have to agree that if kranjcar has a couple of mobile mids alongside to do his running he will destroy teams with that range of passing! Pure class! Technique to die for!

We need to figure out how to get the best out of him and stick with that plan cause he is a game changer.

02 Oct 2016 22:27:53
Pirlo? Stop talking pish . He's not in the same league as Kranjar! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

03 Oct 2016 03:50:12
LOL aye a poor clubs Pirlo :D he's no bad and will do us well but he could not lace that cool cats boots.

03 Oct 2016 10:15:00
He probably could have in his day. Pirlo however was far more consistent throughout his career at a higher level.

05 Oct 2016 04:56:47
not a chance Pirlo is world class Niko is good but more of a 6.5/ 7 / 10 player.

pirlo 8.5/ 9 out a 10 and that's me been mean.

02 Oct 2016 11:11:01
Good to see Haliday proving me wrong over the past few weeks. Always good to keep a clean sheet. This could be our defensive partnership going forward to be fair and it's only had one chance to play.

Almost everyone fully fit and match fit Kranjcar is the perfect example of this.

How Holt and Wilson aren't in the scotland line up is beyond me there both quality.

02 Oct 2016 14:10:06
RossW1995,andy halliday would always be in my starting 11 mate, each team needs a player like halliday in their midfield, he plays with his heart, gets stuck in about it and gives his absolute all for his club and team mates, you can see what it means to him, he inspires all his team mates around him, andy is undoubtedly captain material without actually being the captain! he sets the tempo for rangers as well as chipping in with goals with his sweet left peg, he's also a good passer, so what more can we ask of a midfielder? I've all the time in the world for halliday and a certain starter for our upcoming semi final against celtic, I'll tell you one thing, scott brown will know he's been in a game by the end of it, that's for sure!

02 Oct 2016 14:24:34
In the early part of the season he was our box to box mid (Think Barton (dm), Kranjcar (am) Haliday (b2b) and he wasn't offering anything. Just like to point out the coincidence of Holt rejoining the starting line up and everyone playing better, Haliday included. Don't see how he is a better player at CDM than Barton, Rossiter and Crooks mind you and that's why I said he was our worst midfielder. He hasn't shown me that he's better although he has upped his performances. He has grew as the season has went on and so has our team. Already explained why I think the shitfred cup cost us and playing 50% of the games Celtic had by the first time we played them wasn't ideal either.

For me we are better due to Holt. We don't tick without him. Look to last season at christmas we slumped when he was out injured for a couple of weeks. Just show's balance in midfield is more important than who is actually playing there.

Time is all we need.

02 Oct 2016 15:08:40
Ross w totally agree about Wilson and Scotland he's surely worth a shout before Gordon Greer a 35 yr old.

02 Oct 2016 15:16:16
Ive been critical of Our Andy in past posts abt taking to many touches and getting caught in possession but i think he's read some of my posts because he's playing the nice 1/ 2 touch stuff now so hats off. he's living the dream for the rest of usπŸ”΄βšͺοΈπŸ”΅πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

02 Oct 2016 15:08:11
Great to get a good win but let's not get carried away, again.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Holt is not in the Scotland squad because our other attacking midfield players such as Snodgrass, Ritchie and Morrison are far, far better players. Holt has done well for us and is a busy little player but he isn't international class.

Wilson simply hasn't played well enough or played enough football to merit a Scotland call up. Scotland are crying out for central defenders but until he cuts out errors and can be described as a rock he won't get called up.

02 Oct 2016 17:58:44
RossW, . How can you possibly compare Rossiter, Crooks or Windlass. Unless they are performing extremely well on the physio table, then we have nothing much to go on!
A lot of folks on here keep throwing these names in - Crooks and Windlass have been injured since the beginning of the year. Rossiter has played 25 minutes in a friendly. What makes you think they will improve things?

02 Oct 2016 20:23:44
Bil72 I never mentioned Windass since he doesn't play the position. I'm comparing him to others in the role. Haliday has self confessed he isn't a defensive mid. Crooks has as much quality on the ball has him, is far more physical and also much faster. May I add that Rossiter has had far more minutes than you think I'm sure he's played at least 4 games for us since coming. I thought Rossiter was the best player in Scotland but now there is a debate on the table with dembele. The guy will be our best player at some point based on everything said about him and what we have seen. Barton although he hasn't done much is the best player in the squad and just because he's suspended and isn't necessarily helping doesn't mean we should pretend he isn't. Maybe Kranjcar stepping up and Haliday showing he can take his position will kick him into gear. Position for position in my opinion he is the worst cm in the team. Holt, Windass, Kranjcar, Rossiter, Barton, Crooks, Forrester. On performances this season however especially when Holt has been in the side he has looked very good.

02 Oct 2016 21:33:25
I have to admit that halliday has impressed me more and more recently, I was of the impression everyone was buying into the diehard status but of late (since the Barton saga) he's really stepped up in my opinion! What he lacks in finesse he more than makes up for in heart.

Great to see holt back tho, still can't believe we snapped that guy up for so little! Must be up there with the best bargains in recent times! So much drive, vision and determination! Strachans naivety is rangers gain in my opinion.

03 Oct 2016 03:53:01
ROSS W some of your theories are good but some astound me, would a maanger rather his team played 50% more or less games than an opposition|?

Are you a lawyer you have an excuse for everything .

03 Oct 2016 10:20:31
In terms of preseason the more games you have the quicker you will get up to speed. Celtic had double our games against quality oppositions which in my opinion has allowed them, with a good transfer policy, to have such a good start. They played against the English champions, inter ect. We played against East Stirling, stranrar and annan. We were only tested in one of our preseason games and that was Burnley, and it was too late. If we were able to make our own preseason plan we might have got up to speed quicker. I wouldn't say it was an excuse either its a pretty valid reason, especially with our squads fitness, that more games would have benefited us before the start of the season. Celtic made 3 signings we made 11. By the old firm game celtic had played around twice the number of games we had. At preseason match fitness comes from game time. With the winter break this won't matter at all as Celtic will have time to recover.

R I P RYAN BAIRD πŸ”΄βšͺπŸ”΅πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸ.

02 Oct 2016 13:06:05
R.I.P RYAN BAIRD. just a true fan on way to watch his beloved team play. God rest his soul. Prayers for his family aswell. Football's a game. Life is real.

02 Oct 2016 14:39:30
Just heard about yesterday's awful news! Things like this really put things into perspective. thoughts and prayers go out to the poor guys friends and family!

02 Oct 2016 15:08:38
+1 to these sentiments.

02 Oct 2016 08:02:17
Was saddened to hear about the lad who lost his life supporting team he loved
Thinking of his family and friends at this terrible tragedy and hopefully a speedy recovery to the injured
May flight of Angels see thee to thy rest fellow Bear πŸ”΄βšͺπŸ”΅.

01 Oct 2016 23:14:12
Reading that young jack harper, previously of real madrid and now at brighton, is to be offloaded in january as he wants first team game time. Potential january signing for the bears? Boy has tremendous technique, end product not so much, which was the issue with scotland u21s. Thoughts?

02 Oct 2016 14:16:27
If he can't get into brighton team what makes you think he's good enough to get in ours . the lad obviously isn't as good as he's made out to be.

02 Oct 2016 16:00:35
You could argue that tav and waggy weren't good enough for wigan but they've came on to a game. Think if its developing players with potential then the boy might be worth a look at.

02 Oct 2016 21:48:09
Harper may actually be worth a punt, he must have talent otherwise real Madrid wouldn't have touched him, I think he maybe beleived his own hype tho and expected to walk into the Brighton team, warbs is great with these type of guys as we know so Craig ye I'm with u on this 1! I reckon he is definitely worth the punt, only problem being is I think he plays in a number 10 role behind the striker which we don't actually play and we know wars won't change that tactic for any1.

03 Oct 2016 04:03:26
Brighton would destory most teams in the SPL and right now give us a good game. stop insulting other teams you clearly know little about.

03 Oct 2016 04:36:48
from real madrid to the spl, poor lad, but everyone needs to start somewhere, not sure we could afford the wages the RM outfit pay their young pups?
