Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

02 Jul 2016 17:12:11
I was just wondering with rangers selling so much season tickets does anyone think we might spend a bit of money for a striker, with us putting together potentially a really good squad so far and buy spending very very wisely, I'm just wondering if we might buy someone for a million or something about that amount, what does other fans think.?

I think the business that we have done so far this summer has been superb, but I just have a feeling we might buy a striker rather than someone on a bosman, not that there's anything wrong with getting players out of contract because as I said the business we have done so far has been superb, but it's just a feeling I've got.

02 Jul 2016 17:52:07
I think we are still running at a loss and haven't made any money from europe/ player sales/ kit for many years. I'd think £1,500,000 will be the highest we spend on a player this season. Although listening to how the board deal with transfers is a breath of fresh air. If we make 8 million from Mckay the 8 million will be reinvestment in the squad. Significant work has been done throughout the club and it obviously won't be cheep so I won't be too concerned if big money isn't spent as Warburton plans things 10 steps ahead, the littlefinger of football.

02 Jul 2016 18:10:04
This season includes January too. I think we will strengthen then again regardless of our position.

02 Jul 2016 18:47:28
Ross, it's nice to see a sensible post regards spending money on players.

I think it's great that we have brought in so many players on a shoe string budget and players who won't just make up the numbers either.

I would prefer the club to be making money from all available avenues and not operate at a loss.

As things stand with kit and no European football that will have to wait.

When Mr King made the statement of intent to spend big I worried that we would fall back into the same bin we've just climbed out of.

Fortunately we have a very finance savvy management team (thanks to Mr King) and I for one am happy with how things are at the moment.

02 Jul 2016 19:17:58
I agree think the signings so far have been great and to think they have been free transfers makes them even better. So I wouldant want us to spend any money think we should be able to get a striker to do a job on a free or even a loan this season then see how we get on leave the spending at the moment I'd say.

03 Jul 2016 14:14:22
Cheers for the response guys, I don't want us to spend money we don't have either, but I don't know why, I've just got a feeling we're going to spend money on a striker.

02 Jul 2016 17:11:34
As in today Robson Kanu is without a club, a think we'd be daft not to at least put our name in the mix. Still waiting to see what happens with a CB however I don't think the American we have on trail is the answer to that, and in a prefect world i'd love to see Bradshaw for the striker but I can can see us missing out.

03 Jul 2016 01:42:10
I think his form in the euros will make it very difficult for us to get him as I imagine plenty of clubs will be in for him. As for the American I agree that I don't think he is the answer. I feel we need a younger and more mobile centre half if we are going to compete with Celtic, their 2 main strikers are much better on the deck than in the air and are both quite nippy players. We need to try and sign a centre half who is quick. Mariappa would have been ideal but that doesn't look like happening.

02 Jul 2016 16:45:11
Still like the sound of the Bradshaw lad. Watched a few of his clips on YouTube and he is a great finisher. Transfer of around £750k-£1m might be too heavy for us but he does look to be exactly what we need.

02 Jul 2016 16:12:39
Hope Warbs pulls a major coup out the magic hat in getting the striker we crave also need a solid centre back mid 20s and I reckon a couple of loans will come.

Would really love to see W&W go back and take young Lewis Mcleod home boy was a real star in the making his career has just faded miserably down south reckon we could take him bk to that level.

Thoughts guys?

02 Jul 2016 16:58:49
He pulled off a coup with the help of Weir and McParland in getting Barton, Kranjcar and the very promising Rossiter. Crooks and Windass also to a lesser extent.

If the standard of Centre Back and Striker is up to these standards then title is ours for the taking.

02 Jul 2016 17:54:39
No loans this season squad is too big for it mw said it a few days ago. We are in for another cb and a striker. If we go for Dom Ball I'd imagine it would be the attempt of a permanent move.

02 Jul 2016 18:15:16
MW says he'll limit the loan deals. Doesn't mean there won't be any.

I doubt we'll see this window go by without at least one maybe two loan deals.

But they can't be back up. Only positions you can say we might need a first eleven player are CB and CF. Maybe one of them will be a loan.

03 Jul 2016 14:23:45
I think some fans are going to be surprised by how good mat crooks is, I can't wait to see him in a Rangers top.

03 Jul 2016 12:22:32
Whats then number of loans a team can take on?

02 Jul 2016 13:52:41
Kind of starting to look as if it's James Vaughan as our only striker signing or no signing in that position at all.

Likely our last central defender being brought in will be a 34 year old American who hasn't kicked a ball in 14 months.

Kind of surprising given the way the transfer window started but doesn't look as if this'll be enough for the title, only an opinion of course.

02 Jul 2016 14:31:53
Wealth of knowledge how do you know that.

02 Jul 2016 15:18:01
Nobody knows anything at this point but wouldn't you admit if these are our last two signings we've really only added substantially to the midfield? Defence and attack is going to be the exact same as last year. Doubt anyone would have thought that before we've made eight new signings. If it's James Vaughan up front. Not sure that fills fans with confidence.

02 Jul 2016 16:19:39
Patience mate. I'm sure the gaffer will look to strengthen our strike force. Makes no sense to rush into a signing just to appease the fans. A striker will be signed prior to start of season.

02 Jul 2016 16:21:44
The James Vaughan that played at Everton had the makings of a top quality player, if Warburton can rekindle that ability then we will have a very good player.

02 Jul 2016 16:25:30
See at the end of the day lads. It's doesn't matter who MW brings in, Aslong as that player gives 110% then I will support him till the end. If we bring in Vaughan then beat of luck to him. But to all the doubters out there can I point you at martyn waghorns scoring record before he came here, nothing to shout about was it?

02 Jul 2016 16:43:17
In talks with Tom Bradshaw now! Source - BBC.

02 Jul 2016 16:44:31
Thing with Waghorn is though, he went straight in against Hibs in the petrofac, hit the ground running.

I doubt Vaughan goes straight in for the start of the season against Hamilton. Would rather have Waghorn move up front for that game and put Forrester out right.

Really hope we get a striker of similar calibre as a couple of our other signings like Kranjcar, Barton, Rossiter. Doubtful. Don't know if any fan would put Vaughan in that group.

02 Jul 2016 16:48:16
Crooks I think will be a surprise performer in defence. 6,4 strong, pacey and can tackle. I do agree tho that we need another experienced CB and a prolific striker. Have patience tho warbs weir and mcparland know this and I'm sure we will get what we need.

02 Jul 2016 17:50:27
If anything we need a player to replace Clark who is of better quality.

But his position in the squad needs filled. Makes a striker a guarantee. The level of quality is debatable, but the fact we're signing a striker shouldn't be debated.

02 Jul 2016 17:56:06
Coldo is spot on i think crooks will be a stand out next season as well. Watched him a few times this season he is very good on the ball for such a big guy.

02 Jul 2016 18:13:57
Tom42 is spot on, james vaughan was very highly thought of at everton and was regarded as a terrific talent, if we do sign vaughan then give the guy a chance and trust our management team and their class judgement of a player, into the debate it would do well to remember that warbs is a master at taking a talent that's lost their way and getting them back on track again, the evidence is there with his first year in charge at rangers, have some faith guys for god's sake! I trust our management team to the hilt!

02 Jul 2016 18:52:58
Bluegenius, I can't find anything regarding us in talks with tom bradshaw anywhere on the bbc, care to enlighten us bears mate.

02 Jul 2016 23:31:45
Jimjam

You have to remember though that Waghorn was playing in the 2nd tier of Scottish football. Let's see how he does in the premiership only then can he be judged how good a player he is.

02 Jul 2016 17:07:22
I think if we don't sign Bradshaw it could possibly be a striker on loan we will get as for the centre back I hope we get someone better than the big American guy his history doesn't fill me with much joy at all.

02 Jul 2016 13:01:50
Good luck to italy tonight against germany, I've got a tenner on italy from the start at 18/ 1,even if I hadn't any money on I'd still want italy to beat germany, I've always liked and had a soft spot for italy since a young age, I'm going for italy 2-0 with pelle scoring the first goal, Italy have a great record against germany, mon italia!

02 Jul 2016 13:51:02
Warbs. Great minds think alike. I also have a tenner on them at 18/ 1. They are certainly having to do it the hard way already beating Belgium and Spain and also having to take care of the Germans and most probably France. Mind you, if Wales get to the final I would be torn between the money and emotionally as I was born in Cardiff. Ah bugger it, come on Wales!

02 Jul 2016 16:33:22
Im the other way guys my 4 yr old picked a 3-2 germany win, also put 2 quid each on them missing pens and scoring pens if it happens ill be quids in, more chance of winning the lottery right enough or the dark side pulling a last minute shock 50 million move on ibra.

02 Jul 2016 23:37:23
Surprised with the amount of people writing of the current world champions Germany! It's uncanny how they always find a way to get through.

03 Jul 2016 09:54:38
Biffo316,I certainly never wrote off the current world champs germany mate, I just fancied italy to beat them, I'm shouting on wales to win the euros, really wish them well and all the best of luck, would be amazing if they won it! The whole of britain should be right behind the welsh, go on, bring it home lads!

02 Jul 2016 11:46:14
I read we are running at a loss if that's true then the business we have done is very clever.
As much as would love to win everything this season surly our aim is stability that comes first.
The management and the players must do there very best on the pitch.
I do want to see a goal machine come in but if it means putting our club at risk financially then we should hold out for the right free transfer.
Not saying we should be happy with not spending money but if it keeps us going in the right direction then I'll get behind the team who ever pulls on the jersey.

02 Jul 2016 14:21:15
Oh dear LUIGI will have something to say about your post.
I totally agree with your post. We need to live within our means for a couple of years. Let the manager work his magic then reap the benefits of not going too big too soon.

02 Jul 2016 16:12:23
I agree with what you are saying but we should get behind any team on the park regardless of finance. If we were playing junior football i'd still be supporting the gers.

02 Jul 2016 18:04:51
Yeah we have made no money from Kits, TV (in terms of what we were) , European football, transfers. Our income will rise season on season especially if we back the team which will result in better and better squads. It's not down the board now, they are doing everything in there power to move us forward in the right direction on every aspect. It's down to us to pack Ibrox every week smash season ticket sales records because we are the the only main income the club has. Imagine where we will be with a solid kit and sponsorship deal, proper season ticket money
(season tickets are cheaper now than 5 years ago) proper transfer fees paid for top players and being and the champions league. The future is only bright for us we should be positive and back the squad and board fully!

03 Jul 2016 14:53:38
Agreed Ross, unfortunately a large part of rangers income came from merchandise sales, but we will get rid of Ashley eventually, i just hope it doesn't take 7 yrs.

Great to see a wee country like Wales perform so brilliantly. Why can't Scotland do the same? Admittedly, we don't have a Bale or Ramsey but surely with a decent manager we can raise our game. Strachan is useless, doesn't have a clue. Why not offer Alex Neil the job. I know Norwich went down to the Championship but he performed miracles with a limited budget. The following Scots play in the EPL or Championship: Naismith, Snodgrass, Adam, Fletcher, Morrison, Anya, Whittaker, Dorrans, Rhodes, Maloney, McGregor, Robertson, McCormack, McArthur, Marshall, Shinnie, Hutton. Add home-based players like Tierney and Griffiths from Celtic, Mackay, Wallace and Holt from Rangers and perhaps a couple of Aberdeen and Hearts stars and surely we can get a decent team together?

02 Jul 2016 10:15:16
I am really sorry but you having a laugh
Naismith, Snodgrass, Adam, Fletcher, Morrison, Anya, Whittaker, Dorrans, Rhodes, Maloney, McGregor, Robertson, McCormack, McArthur, Marshall, Shinnie, Hutton

McArthur / McCormack/ Anya
To me that's the only three I would keep the rest have had there chance time to move on and give the younger ones a chance.

02 Jul 2016 10:23:37
Anya is dung.

02 Jul 2016 11:44:22
You would bin Robertson?

02 Jul 2016 12:08:34
Anya still has a lot to give as long as he gets the service it's the same with robo Scotland needs to get out off the dark ages and move forward but the question is who? The last thing we need is a sfa yes man
I am a kids coach under 10s and our system (pro youth ) is not working a lot off kids that don't make the grade are falling by the waside.

02 Jul 2016 12:08:48
Portugal have Ronaldo, Wales have bale, we got Lego muncher 😂😂😂.

02 Jul 2016 12:11:20
Nonsense. If we had been offered a choice of Rhodes/ McCormack and Robson Kanu a month ago we would have picked Rhodes or McCormack.

02 Jul 2016 12:54:17
Anya has no ability all he does is knock and run.

02 Jul 2016 13:01:58
This Scotland team is proberly the best we have had in a while. Strachan gets it tight but he has been a lot better than previous managers.

02 Jul 2016 13:29:58
He's awful leaves out the best players continuously.

02 Jul 2016 14:06:02
Cee, who would you like to be scotland manager instead of gordon Strachan mate? I think billy davies would be a tremendous scotland manager, just my own personal opinion.

02 Jul 2016 15:48:45
Rip up the rule book, give Ian Cathro the job. The target should be reaching next Euros. Get rid of the dead wood, bring young promising players in now, let them gel and see how we get on. What have we got to lose?

02 Jul 2016 16:28:14
Scotland's major problem, (apart from the SFA) , is its manager and that has been the case for a number of years.
That said you cannot compare a number of the Scotland players to a number of the players at Wales these days. Scottish players are carthorses compared to the thoroughbreds of Wales.

Scotland doesn't have a Gareth Bale, indeed they haven't had anyone that comes close since the days of Souness and before that Baxter! Scotland just isn't producing top quality players anymore and neither is Northern Ireland or the ROI and the same can almost be said for England.

Why this is in Scotland and Ireland I don't know but I would blame the number of overseas players now in the top league in England as one of the reasons why the top talent is not coming through there.

02 Jul 2016 16:18:41
Doiger, the three goals wales scored were all brilliant goals eh, i certainly never thought wales would win, but that let's me know i can't get everything right, lol.

02 Jul 2016 16:21:56
supposing we hd some class players chesney could not make a team out of them.

02 Jul 2016 17:23:51
In my humble opinion, the problem with Scottish football is:

1. The bevy, burds and gear culture of our youths. Too many youths wasting there potential because they're more interested in going out getting wasted and fingering dirties.

2. Youth teams ignoring boys with technical ability to play boys who are 6'4" and shave twice a day.

02 Jul 2016 01:55:12
Hal Robson-Kanu is unattached we should be looking at him what's your thoughts.

02 Jul 2016 10:26:40
Sorry mate, it's to late for us to get him now, he will have plenty of offers now.

02 Jul 2016 16:34:35
Can't see it happening mate especially after his performance last night, his agents phone will be ringing off the hook.

01 Jul 2016 23:07:06
Well done to Wales tonight what a team I had betted Wales to win 3-1 50/ 1 bet I bet 20.00 I'm on cloud 9 is this real I'm dreaming right.

02 Jul 2016 02:32:59
Could Wales do what Denmark did in 1992?

01 Jul 2016 22:37:56
Hats off to wales, absolutely brilliant lads, wish it was my country, I now reckon it'll be a wales v italy euro final, just shows what a relatively small country can do with a terrific manager, system and team spirit, not forgetting the world class player wales have got in gareth bale! Common scotland, take a leaf!

02 Jul 2016 01:34:51
Reckon it will be Wales v Germany final. Superb stuff from the Welsh.

02 Jul 2016 04:48:47
Personally I would like to see Italy knock the Germans out, so I am hoping for a Wales V Italy Final!

02 Jul 2016 10:24:21
I don't think Germany have it in them to beat Italy. There only striker is gomez.

02 Jul 2016 12:57:45
Only striker? They can score from anywhere, what bout miller, or ozol?

02 Jul 2016 17:40:48
Muller isn't a striker neither is ozil, I think Italy will be too strong at the back.

02 Jul 2016 23:34:07
Cee

Did I read your post right? The Germans don't have it in them to beat Italy?
