I know this is the worst of times but firstly I can't believe how selfish some of these football players have been still accepting a full wage. I include all clubs in this
Secondly I hope the backroom staff at ibrox are still working behind the scenes working out who stays and who goes. And are working on potential transfers and scouting talent. Something we have struggled with badly. I hope guys like docherty and both mccrories come back.

03 Apr 2020 16:20:51
I understand where your coming from cambusger but I'm not so sure they are being selfish.
They are just getting paid what their contract states their weekly pay packet is.
It's the same for me to be honest with my job at the moment.
And I wouldn't look at myself as being selfish.
Then again, my pay packet is nowhere near what theirs is right enough. 🔴⚪🔵.

03 Apr 2020 19:10:32
Not the players fault. What about the billionaire owners putting there hand in there pockets? Like mike ashley?

03 Apr 2020 21:56:52
If you know nothing about what they earn, what they’re doing to help and if they have been asked to do something, then you have no right to say how selfish they have been, none at all, what have you been giving, and how do you know they haven’t?

02 Apr 2020 19:37:15
Was suggested a few weeks back to play rest of season behind closed doors to get season finished and get clubs paid out. Suprise, surprise you lot were whining. What are yous running scared of? Is it:

1. Yous know 9iar is imminent and are trying hardest to get season voided to delay 9iar for another season?

2. Yous know your club is in a worse financial position than any other club in SPFL and playing closed door games will ruin yous again?

3. To save the embarrassment of us destroying yous in remaining 2 old firm ties?

4. All of the above.

02 Apr 2020 19:47:21
Obsessed.

02 Apr 2020 20:05:50
Still waiting on you showing these guidelines philip?

02 Apr 2020 20:55:14
Yes phil Tim,
Just like you destroyed us in the last 2 meetings. 🤣🤣🤣.

02 Apr 2020 20:18:12
The SPF Union have stated the below. Games will not be played behind closed doors. Unless by some miracle and the restrictions get lifted in the next few weeks and the games return to normal the league will 100% not be finished by the dead line. It will not be extended. There are 2 outcomes to this. Null and Void or award as it stands. I think NAV has the advantage for the SPL and SFA as it can't be contested in the courts however the other option will for sure by a few clubs. My gut says NAV, even if the clubs were to vote I think NAV would edge it but who knows.

Under the circumstances I think it would be crude and really bad taste for Celtic to accept the SPL title with games to play, clubs close to going bust and people dying left right and centre. If it is awarded to Celtic then by their standards of such a huge fantastic club with second to one supporters then they should decline the offer.

"There had been some suggestions of playing games behind closed doors, but last night I informed the SPFL of our Management Committee’s position that if the supporters are not allowed in, our members should not be asked to put their health and safety at risk by playing games behind closed doors. Player safety must be treated the same as that of supporters and the wider population"

02 Apr 2020 20:56:50
Phil wee scenario for u. your wee mum is in bed ill maybe has this virus and needs an ambulance sorry mrs phil but our ambulances and police are at the closed door football match so that Celtic can try to win 9 nr so you will need to wait.

And b4 u respond that no services will be needed did u see the last closed door game with psg, where thousands of fans gathered outside. Potential spreading the virus.

And seriously about our club being in a worse financial pos than all other clubs. All I will say is 46k season tickets and 10k on the waiting list. 20 million from europe. Now tell me hearts hibs killy ect season ticket uptake and european money.

And the old chestnut we will be going bust yet it's your club that's one of the first to join the 80% of wages being paid by the gov using the queens coin to bail your mob out. Been hearing we are going bust for 8 years now starting to get boring.

Third point did u destroy us in the last 2 OLD FIRM games.
Ps glad to see you called it the old firm as I thought that didn't exist anymore.

I really hope they do award your team the title Celtic FC league champions from 2011 - 2020 * **

* = 4 off the championships where won when their main rivals where not there
** = one of the championships was won with only 3 quarter of the matches played due to corona virus.

02 Apr 2020 21:44:20
Philtim88

Yous.

02 Apr 2020 22:08:41
Philtim 88,get a grip.
There's far more important things to be worrying about at the minute than your take on our club and why your mob should be given 9iar! We all should be focusing on the tragic loss of human life, in our fight against this terrible virus covid 19! There's a time and place for everything and your timing is way out!

02 Apr 2020 22:28:36
Hey Philtim88. You didn’t happen to see the article in the express today? It mentioned Scottish football in general but name checked only 1 club. Celtic. YOUS are not to far away from having some serious, serious problems of your own me thinks and not before time. Swept under the carpet for decades.

02 Apr 2020 22:30:36
SGL there’s no point Philtim having a word with himself he wouldn’t understand mate.

02 Apr 2020 22:33:50
Typical lol. PATHETIC. World fighting a pandemic and you Philly boy interested in your title. WISE UP. Season is over.

02 Apr 2020 23:21:42
Phil, Rangers haven't been selfish in least but have followed govt guielines to fullest. One in only many calling for cessation. You mention, selfish yet you not mention once the worldwide pandemic and its worldwide effect on all but continue with football issues which are a far, second at present. If you going to come on gers site you should think first mate.

02 Apr 2020 23:29:36
Get a grip of yourselves. Its a football page and phil posted about. Wait for it. Football! . Doesn't mean the guy doesn't care about what's going on in the world. If it was the other wayaround you would be screaming for the title. To add to the ahem! 55 you won in 8 years.

03 Apr 2020 08:26:32
besides cellics employee doncaster will give title to them. its foregone conclusion. why do you think they hired him.

03 Apr 2020 08:38:19
Millerbrandwilson, coming out with statements like that, when all the human race is fighting against this killer virus! that's priority fighting that!

03 Apr 2020 09:58:20
personally i couldn't care less what they do with the season or the title. I've friends who are seriously ill, and I've not been allowed out for weeks.
Lets get our lives back to some form of normalsy, and if the other lot are so desparate for it, let them have it. it will show up.

03 Apr 2020 10:39:45
Few points Phil.
Only the Tim's have come out wanting a title to be handed out for one that hasn't been earned. We've had Lawwell, Lennon, Brown and their cheerleaders in the media all demand they get their grubby hands on it whilst the rest of Scotland have more important things on their minds.
Rangers only preference is to finish the season.
Only the Tim's can give it the big I am by donating a large sum of money to the NHS and local community projects and then claim the Tory Furlough for their employees!
And you're on saying we are the worse club in Scotland financially?
I know you all come on here for the healthy debate instead of the usual A hole lickings over on your own site but come on Phil, that must be one of the worst posts on here!
Think Juventus - big club mentality in rejecting the title.
Think Celtic - wee club mentality wanting a title at all costs, even human life. Now that's lower than Sporting Integrity. đź‘Ť.

03 Apr 2020 11:07:30
That is some amount of bites Phil has got on this thread. 🎣
You use the virus when you don’t agree with what is being said on a football forum but at the same time it didn’t stop your club from launching season ticket renewals.
Life goes on and if Phil wants to share his opinion about the league title then he is entitled to do so.

03 Apr 2020 11:20:52
SGL
Think that was what I was saying, mate. Read the post.

03 Apr 2020 11:56:12
Buzzbomb like you used the death of a player who had left 10 years earlier to get a game against Rangers postponed as you had 3 key players suspended. Think I’ll pass on the morality lesson.
Just to answer the OP no 2 scenario. playing games behind closed doors has no impact on finances as those games have already been bought. Hope that clears it up👍🏻.

03 Apr 2020 11:59:29
Millerbrandwilson, that wasn't meant to be having a go at you pal, it was having a go at philtim 88!Some of my post is missing mate.

03 Apr 2020 13:01:17
SGL, I apologise mate. Last sentence of mine missed too. Stay safe mate.

03 Apr 2020 13:48:55
Briggs, no we wouldnt, we don't want nowt we haven't won fair and square,

03 Apr 2020 16:12:47
NRD :- Although I think it’s inappropriate to bring Phil O’Donnell into the discussion, if that’s your opinion then you are entitled to it.
I have checked and Celtic didn’t have any suspensions going into that game but Nakamura was injured. In the rearranged game Nakamura played but Scott Brown was injured.

I wouldn’t say behind closed doors had no impact financially because there is still a few thousand match day tickets and corporate match day tickets brings in money the club has budgeted for. Why then was your club desperate to play the Livingston game 24 hours after it was postponed against their opponents wishes.

03 Apr 2020 16:00:23
You too millerbrandwilson, stay safe pal, to you and all your family! 🙏
I wish everyone everywhere, no matter colour creed or religion to remain very safe along with all their families, god bless you all! 🙏.

03 Apr 2020 19:12:10
If memory serves me correct McGeady would have been suspended that game.
As far as your other statement about the Livingstone game I wouldn’t normally answer such questions however I will this occasion. Firstly it was the SPFL who demanded the game be played on the Sunday as there was no other possible midweek for the tie to be played because we were the only Scottish side left in Europe. Had we progressed past Leverkusen there would have been no other date to play it. You really shouldn’t listen to Ill Phil . but don’t let the truth get in the way of your agenda. Hope this clears it up.

02 Apr 2020 14:47:08
Belgium end there football season today and hand Club Brugge with a 15pt lead as champions.

02 Apr 2020 15:31:18
Fair enough, something needs to be done one way or another.

02 Apr 2020 17:02:26
Think they've only 1 game to play though?
Could be wrong.

02 Apr 2020 17:51:47
15 points with one game to go.

02 Apr 2020 19:30:30
11 games left! . 1 game left before they split and another 10 games afterwards Leaders points advantage is halved as well although teams only get 2pts for a win at this stage.

02 Apr 2020 19:34:34
One game to split, then play other top 5 teams home and away. so still eleven to play.

02 Apr 2020 12:09:06
With everything that's going on atm worldwide with this virus the silence is deafening from all the highly paid professional football players and with some wealthy clubs going down the furlough route for their non playing staff when their highly paid first team players are still on full pay I would like to see our club take the lead and the players to voluntarily take a significant reduction in their wages as I'm sure they could afford it we're talking about players getting paid ÂŁ10,000 + per week I'm sure they have plenty in their bank accounts and they should do the right thing and forego some of their salary and have the money go to the other club staff some who I'm sure are on minimum wage and could possibly be struggling a bit and as for Spurs and Newcastle united and most of the English premier clubs don't even get me started it just shows how greedy these players are some of these guys are multi millionaires and are still sitting tight holding out until they are forced to take a pay cut by their clubs it's not about the contracts they signed or whatever as this is unprecedented times and they should do the right thing and see other not as fortunate as themselves get paid, its totally shocking that clubs like spurs are taking money from the government when they could probably afford to cover the wages themselves after all they were able to spend good knows how much hundreds of thousands of pounds building a new stadium but are taking much needed money from. the government.

02 Apr 2020 13:03:38
true mate the all kiss the badge let's see what there made off even give a % to NHS.

02 Apr 2020 13:16:52
think all the players on big money shoukld forgo most of it.

02 Apr 2020 14:55:41
To any of you who are SNP supporters, thank our lucky stars wee jimmy kranky didnae get independence .

Where was all this 80% wages subsidy to come from? .

Scotland on it's own is financially worse off than Rangers.

Please get rid of her at the next election.

02 Apr 2020 15:29:05
Not the time for politics, but they would have just borrowed it the same as the Tories are doing. Do you think that Boris had this under his mattress.

02 Apr 2020 16:55:32
Where would they have tried to borrow it from follow, the UK government of course .

But would the UK government give it to a place that dumped them? .

Also we in Scotland would also be out of the EU as Scotland on it's own would have to apply for membership.

02 Apr 2020 17:53:51
& where is the UK borrowing it from.
We will have at the very least another 10 years of austerity after this not even thinking about the poor guys out of work.
KEEP POLITICS OFF THE PAGES ED!

{Ed001's Note - then scroll past, there is no footie to talk about so something has to be discussed.}

02 Apr 2020 17:57:52
Lol so an independent Scotland would have borrowed from the UK government? why not France or USA. That is not how it works. You reckon Ukraine and belarus go back to Russia?

They would have done the same as any government when borrowing money by creating bonds and gilts that investors can take up or in worse case scenario the World Bank.

02 Apr 2020 19:42:16
If you don’t want politics don’t join in, it’s really that simple mate,

02 Apr 2020 21:09:38
Post looks like it is a mixture of football finance and some political comments to me guys, so what's the prob wi some of you.

As Ed says not much football to talk about so no likey no readey eh.

02 Apr 2020 21:30:17
Bluebilly it might have escaped your attention but it seems the bulk of the EU would have welcomed Scotland with open arms had it been a yes vote in 2014 and it would not have taken 5 years to get in so we would not be in between two stools as you choose to imagine it.

I'm pretty sure you don't know that despite being in massive debt we are a country who cannot borrow. Yes we have debt already but can't borrow. We get landed with UK debt, even for projects that have absolutely nothing to do with us, rail lines from the Midlands to London, we get our share of the debt, London Olympics, we get our share of the debt. Were you aware of any of this Bluebilly?

Have you read the McCrone report (buried under Callaghan's Government) which stated that with Scotland's oil and potential revenue from it "The country would tend to be in chronic surplus to a quite embarrassing degree and its currency would become the hardest in Europe with the exception perhaps of the Norwegian kroner. "

The hardest currency in Europe bar one (another small oil rich country) and you choose to compare it to Rangers finances, Bluebilly please stop discussing financial things your knowledge is somewhere between bankrupt and in liquidation. :)

03 Apr 2020 09:10:31
There is no Scotland's oil now (already been sold) Gazo, only a quid or two per barrel comes our way mate.

03 Apr 2020 11:08:11
Stop Bluebilly, more inaccuracy, fed to you by who? The very folk who sold it off on the cheap and didn't start an oil fund years ago despite the SNP suggesting they should. Any thoughts on the McCrone report?

03 Apr 2020 14:20:10
Seeing the country rally in this time of crisis reinforces my belief in the United Kingdom. Britain never ever shall be slaves!

03 Apr 2020 14:00:10
Gazo, no oil ever found in Scotland belonged to Scotland, it belonged to the British government,

03 Apr 2020 15:43:49
Does England not borrow, lots of things from Scotland, like water, electricity, gas, etc etc etc etc all for nothing.

04 Apr 2020 04:28:03
Paulellen I think that is the very issue Independence is about, a small oil rich country that should be as wealthy as Norway is saddled with debt for things it doesn't even see the benefit of. You are right it was found with Scotland as part of Britain, however some of us are sick to the back teeth not getting a government we voted for in majority terms, sick of not getting what we voted for from Brexit and equally sick of oil that IS Scottish in geographical terms getting used to finance England only projects.

And by the by Paulellen, just before Scotland got Holyrood Dewar and Blair signed off on a deal that gave vast swathes of Scottish east coast waters to England, they are now English waters, if we have all the same owner (UK Government) why was it even necessary?

04 Apr 2020 08:02:43
You're forgetting one major thing Gazo.
The majority of the country voted to stay as part of the UK. So all of the above Independence talk is irrelevant. đź‘Ť
And in regards to the NHS, that's a devolved power. We have a brand new Children's Hospital in Edinburgh 5 years overdue lying empty. We could have done with that in the current crisis. That's the SNP's fault.
The brand new QE2 Hospital in Glasgow has been plagued with issues and tragedy since it opened. That's also the SNP's remit.
And the SNP always worked their figures out in regards to oil when the price of a barrel was high - so all this Rainbow and Unicorn of how an independent Scotland would look under the SNP is pure Fantasy Island.

04 Apr 2020 15:51:17
Explain MrTupacman how in most comparable fields that the Scottish NHS outperforms the rest of the UK? Independent talk isn't irrelevant simply because the majority of the UK votes another way, it suggests that Scotland as a sovereign nation, which it is, is entitled to feel it should approach a different path, enough people permitting.

In 2014 we were told the oil was running out then miraculously new fields were found after the vote. As for oil I looked into this years ago in an Illinois based company, in the 30's their oil was 10c a barrel and while it fluctuates in short periods, even for several years at a time, the long term trend of oil prices is northwards, anyone who uses their eyes can see that.

Again I'll ask anyone keen to reply, any thoughts on the McCrone report? Any of you?

02 Apr 2020 10:10:06
