Gents

Sunday was delighted for Itten and Jones .

Thought Arfield had a brilliant game. Pleased that the captain took both penalties and scored both.

I think our full shape looked better playing with two wingers (Kent and Jones) . I'm a Hagi fan and was glad we signed him but he's never a winger I'd prefer him in a midfield three or the number ten behind the striker.

Delighted for big Itten came on with not much time and bagged a brace from himself . Jones started the game and took his chance . Glad with the managers comments after the game saying he will only accept the best from him the way it should be in my opinion.

29 Sep 2020 22:08:17
Good post bear, I didn't really want hagi signed for the money in the first place but to be fair to the boy he isn't a winger and putting a player in an alien position is like throwing him under a bus, i had a mate who was quite a player back in the 70s who was played every week in the middle of the park, he was a centre half by trade, it took him over a year to recover after his gaffer was sacked, its a dangerous game playing guys outside their comfort zone and leads to confidence eroding and fans frustration.

29 Sep 2020 22:43:23
I still don't understand the fans frustration with Hagi. Whether he is played as a winger or his best position in the hole behind striker he creates numerous chances. 1 goal and 4 assists so far this season after 9 games. Seems decent to me not counting the countless other chances he has created that haven't resulted in goals. He only has one weakness that I can see and its lack of pace. If we play against a team that alow us space in behind it would be interesting to see Hagi and Jones in the same starting 11. Hagi would play Jones in for fun with Jones pace.

29 Sep 2020 23:20:21
Haji doesn't stay out wide tho, he plays across the front line across the midfield behind the striker same as Kent the fact of the matter is he's not been good enough, yes he's had flashes but not been very consistent. Before people jump on that and give me grief I do like him and want him to do well could be next year before we see the best of him sometimes it just takes a while for players to settle and make their mark.

30 Sep 2020 01:50:11
I just didn't think he was that good after the initial couple of games and I thought his goals, great as they were had maybe got folk thinking we had a superstar on the books, the more the boy played the less likely I thought he would be bought, but he was, and for a lot of money, I hope he flies through the gears and is a massive success, I just havnt seen enough to change my mind, yet.

Liverpool v Arsenal - A Liverpool Perspective

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Liverpool v Arsenal - A Liverpool Perspective

29 Sep 2020 19:14:13
What's everyone's thoughts about Thursday

What does everyone think our best team for Thursday will be some changes or stick with same team from Sunday!

29 Sep 2020 19:51:09
It will need to be ateam that's played better than last seasons run or well be out the turks are a really good out fit.

29 Sep 2020 19:52:47
Hard hard game, need to be at our best! McGregor, tavernier, goldson, big fill, barasic, Kamara, Davis, Arfield, Kent, Morelos, Jones.

29 Sep 2020 19:55:11
I think Hagi will come back in for Jones.
Apart from that, it will possibly be the same barring any injured players.

29 Sep 2020 20:34:13
Defo keep jones in. Jones n Kent's pace on the counter will really suit us thurs as I'm sure galatasaray will have a lot of ball.

29 Sep 2020 20:41:45
I also think Jones will be dropped for this game, starting anyway - think he’ll be in bench

Think we may try be more defensive to start off with anyway? Could be wrong though.

29 Sep 2020 21:12:43
According to bookies we are favorites to win. It should be a tough game but I have no idea how good or bad Galatasaray are these days. Only know 2 of the players so as far as squad quality is concerned your guess is as good as mine.

30 Sep 2020 02:06:39
im not sure about playing defensively stig, very dangerous game that, i'm hoping Rangers play the same as last years European games and I will have a decent punt if the price is right, its not often you get a decent price on the old firm in Scotland but in Europe you can sometimes steal a few quid, only times i ever back Rangers is in Europe and against the other lot, last winter I was very fortunate to have a party in one game, Rangers@ 15/ 8, Rangers to win 2-1,@ 16/ 1 and niko to score last goal,40/ 1 as is my won't for backing Centre halves, and to put the cherry on the trifle, katic last goal and 2-1 Gers @ 200/ 1,, , not had a football bet like it since although I had Leicester 3-2 and 4-2 last week, i'm looking forward to a good night on Thursday.

30 Sep 2020 07:47:27
I'm confident for Thursday and I think Jones will play. His pace for the counter will be an asset as I don't think Galatasaray will sit in deep like spl teams do. I'd imagine the same lineup as against Motherwell but with BB coming back in.
3-0 to the Gers 😁.

30 Sep 2020 08:01:31
I think, after looking back at the Leverkusen game, that against top European Teams, we need to play a high press, we can't let them continually come on to us, as they will hurt us, we are at our best going forward, and we have the quality also to cause them problems.

29 Sep 2020 18:38:09
Anyone else think that the hold up in transfer business is down to the money we may get after qualifying things being good?

Dragging on a bit now with nothing solid coming out. Cards being held closely to chests. The qualification money could determine what standard of player we get.

Hope jones can fill that void on the right as I felt it gave us a balance v Motherwell.

29 Sep 2020 19:01:11
Yes 12 th man. Even getting to group stage with no crowds will severely limit our budget.

29 Sep 2020 20:07:58
May I ask, what's being dragging on a bit? Unless you are privvy to stuff we all don't know then how can you possibly say its dragging on? Didn't we sign our players pretty quickly? Why do folk think signings happen over night?

29 Sep 2020 20:08:05
I don’t think it’s a surprise that the 3 main players we have been linked with, Zunga, Lundstrom and Johnson are all in the last year of their contract. Clearly there isn’t much money left to bring in the midfielder we need so we are looking at players Who are still of a decent level but who will be cheaper due to their contract situation. I reckon you’re right though, get through on Thursday and we’ll see someone coming in on a permanent deal. Don’t get through and I have a feeling it might just be a loan deal. Either way I still think we’ll bring someone in.

29 Sep 2020 20:21:13
Was about to ask that question if we get through we will sign another midfielder to boost the squad but if we lose we’ll stick with the players we have, leaving one question will Alfie be sold? 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

29 Sep 2020 22:10:27
of course it does 12th, and it will be the same across Europe,

29 Sep 2020 22:12:25
gers, I could be very wrong here but who has linked us to those players, Rangers may have mentioned zungu, but i'm not sure.

29 Sep 2020 18:02:45
Hopefully Souness is on the commentary on Thursday night and he can plant a big Rangers flag in the centre circle after we win.
Remember years ago when he was the Galatasaray manager nearly causing a riot with the Fernebache fans when they won and he planted a huge Galatasaray flag in the centre. What a player he was and hard as nails no nonsense. Ian Durrant said he would say before the game that if the opposition wanted to play we would play them or if they wanted a fight we would fight them. He also said sometimes he would intentionally give the ball away just so he could give them a crunching tackle and win the ball back. He was a very talented hard man who no doubt put the fear into anyone who came across him on the pitch.

29 Sep 2020 18:33:59
O who can forget his tackles against steau or Iceland.

29 Sep 2020 22:16:46
Sadly one of those " tackles" nearly ended the career of siggi Johnson i remember.

30 Sep 2020 08:52:54
Correct thumb. He was brutal and meant it.

29 Sep 2020 17:27:16
Welcome back Supercoop.

30 Sep 2020 02:10:38
heres what gets me about sgl mate, before he went to lock down he correctly told everyone every game, which channel, which time and indeed how to get the Rangers game on TV, yesterday he had to ask " if us season ticket holders " can get the game on Rangers TV? My money would be on him knowing that wouldn't yours?

29 Sep 2020 16:52:38
Following on from the Barry Ferguson posts, top 5 Gers midfielders of all time:

1 Ferguson
2 Albertz
3 De Boer
4 Gazza
5 Davis

Durrant would have been there but for his injury.

29 Sep 2020 17:18:50
Never forget wee doddy.

29 Sep 2020 17:25:23
Tugay

For me growing up and on from then i will go.

Gascoigne
Laudrup

Wilkins
Ian Ferguson
Van bronkhurst.

29 Sep 2020 18:27:25

29 Sep 2020 21:43:10
Well millerbrandwilson. You owe me an apology. I was privileged to have seen Millar, Brand and Wilson and also Slim Jim. I should have included Baxter in my list. I also saw Scott and Henderson et al so pipe down mate. I am coming up for 70 years old son!

29 Sep 2020 22:11:48

Excluded Laudrup as for me he was a forward.

29 Sep 2020 16:20:12
SGL

Good to see you posting again. Don’t always agree with you but you always make a strong case. Look forward to debating again soon.

29 Sep 2020 14:39:27
Guys i take it all us season ticket holders can purchase our game on RTV against galatasaray on thursday 🤔.

29 Sep 2020 16:35:52
I think everybody can mate? Whether they're season ticket holders or not.

29 Sep 2020 16:50:06
SGL anyone can watch games on RTV even Buzz and all the 🤡 over In tainted town. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺⚽️😎👍.

29 Sep 2020 18:01:19
Any one can purchase game on rtv.

29 Sep 2020 07:49:59
What about alex mcleish's article last night
that sir alex ferguson was toying with the idea of signing barry ferguson, when he was at blackburn rovers, after consistently playing superb for them and dominating the midfield area. Sir alex was very interested in signing baz for manchester utd, what a compliment that is 👌Just my opinion, but i truly think barry had the undoubted ability to play for manchester utd or any top club, in the english premiership at that particular time, when he was playing for blackburn. He was a fantastic midfielder, who absolutely dominated games in the engine room 👍
What's our thoughts fellow bears?

29 Sep 2020 08:16:42
I think everybody knows what I think of Barry, coops. He could have played in any team in the world. Brilliant player.

29 Sep 2020 08:35:11
Don't think he'd have got in that Riga team, they are something else.

29 Sep 2020 08:57:55
liverpool tried to sign him on a few occasions.

29 Sep 2020 09:14:23
Definitely feel he was underestimated, probably due to the fact he didn't come from South of the border. Magnificent player who could have stepped into any midfield of the time.

29 Sep 2020 09:33:56
His performance and free kick in the 2002 Scottish cup final was one of the best I have ever witnessed in all my years going to the games. That performance alone is enough to prove his class and why he was so highly thought of as a player.

29 Sep 2020 10:40:24
Legend👍.

29 Sep 2020 10:40:53
Barry was truly outstanding. I always think there’s maybe a place for Barry at rangers as a coach or something as he knows what is required at our club.

29 Sep 2020 10:44:29
Welcome back Supercoop. I agree with everything you say. Barry was a fantastic player, a great engine, 100% never-say-die attitude and could score goals too. An inspirational figure who could have played for any of the top English sides at that time.

29 Sep 2020 11:10:40
Love to watch bayern Munich at home when wee bazza ran the show what a player he was superb.

29 Sep 2020 11:12:39
I remember seeing him for Scotland playing against England at Wembley and he looked as good that night as any of the English midfield, which was incredibly strong at that time. Absolutely fantastic player.

29 Sep 2020 11:29:31
Bang on the money ballochblue3 regarding barry ferguson and liverpool 👍Before rangers sold baz to blackburn for £7.8million,
liverpool were looking to sign ferguson, but were trying to offload players first. Baz should have waited and not decided on blackburn as quick as he did and he would by all reports probably have been a liverpool player, which would have been an even better move for him👌
Liverpool and newcastle utd again were showing interest in signing him before rangers came in to bring him back up the road! He could have played in any midfield, as he was that good, for me anyway!

29 Sep 2020 12:20:47
Ferguson was a top player. Should never have went to blackburn imo.

29 Sep 2020 12:21:54
Welcome back Coop. Baz was in his prime right when I was growing up. Remember being so proud one of our own was leading such a star studded team and there 100% on merit.

How long before Scotland produces a player of that class again?

29 Sep 2020 12:42:40
That is sort of midfielder we need now.

29 Sep 2020 13:17:36
Coops, maybe we should have one of your legendary polls. Barry Ferguson or Scott Brown. Wonder how that one would go?
😁👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

29 Sep 2020 14:29:21
It would be sabotaged by the Tainted Town residents, Seeker👍.

29 Sep 2020 14:38:11
I wouldn't even bother with a poll for that one snell! Its an absolute NO contest pal, as baz was planets ahead of that overrated baffoon, scott brown👍So easy for baz when he played against that wannabe!

29 Sep 2020 14:53:52
SGL good to see you back on this site. Haven’t always agreed with your posts. But the heart is in the right place. Sometimes the head ain’t. Just like us all. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺⚽️😎👍.

29 Sep 2020 15:20:15
Buzz bum would be on the Baz/ Brown poll stats and he'd find a way of manipulating the data for Brown to come out top, sure he's done his stats on them a while back.
As long as we know in our hearts Barry was smiles better we don't need a poll no one on here is going to say Brown was better a way are they.

29 Sep 2020 15:25:15
Best CM to come out of Scotland in the last 20 years or so without a shadow of doubt.

29 Sep 2020 15:31:44
Welcome back coops.

29 Sep 2020 15:45:30
I remember Gerry Mcnee going off on one when other journalists were spouting that Barry was the best Scottish midfielder since Mcstay and Collins and Mcnee put them firmly in their place by saying Barry was on a completely different level to those 2 and there would be no comparison. Now, if he was on a different level to those 2, how many levels above Brown must he be?

29 Sep 2020 15:56:58
Guys, I know its no the same but I took my wee man to the Hydro for one of these old timers 5 asides a year or so back and Barry was the best player on show by a country mile. Absolute class and looked like he could still have played to a decent level. For me in my 30+ years of watching gers only Gazza and Laudrup are ahead of Ferguson.

29 Sep 2020 17:38:44
Following on from you there Cambiger, the only 2 midfielders that played for rangers that i rated better than barry ferguson are paul gascoigne and ian durrant pre injury and take it from me, that's some compliment i've paid baz here 👌Like i've said many times, barry ferguson is easily IMO, the best scottish midfielder to come through, in the last 25 years bar none! I remember in 1997 at tynecastle, a young barry ferguson made his debut and you could see then he was as many had predicted, was a special talent 👌I was at that particular game and although we had clinched 9 in a row we lost 3-1 to the jambos that day.

29 Sep 2020 18:28:38
Bmg Gerry Mcnee was a great commentating, he was bang on re Mcstay and Collins, brown not even close.

SGL samedebate Baxter up there.

29 Sep 2020 19:42:14
SGL I went to school with barry he was year above and we played in same team at school and you could see then he had something about him and he wasn’t that big but was class on the ball then.

29 Sep 2020 22:51:39
I remember that one too coops. We were in Ibrox watching the game beamed back onto the screens and players flown back by helicopter after game at Tyncastle finshed. Then off to the Glaswegian, remember doing a conga from there under the bridge to Huttons, remember a wee sing song on the karakoe. Great days.

29 Sep 2020 07:46:04
When it comes to union bears you can't accept some of the things they do to bring our club down. But at same time they are still loyal rangers fans who generate atmosphere and put lots of money into the club like all of us. They need to toe the line a bit but asking for them all to be banned is not fair in my opinion.

29 Sep 2020 11:21:09
The Green Brigade are said to generate atmosphere and are loyal Celtic fans who go to every game home and away when they can and put money into their club and I think Celtic should ban them and I'm guessing most posters on here would agree.

And if the UBs keep up their antics, then I think we should ban them.

29 Sep 2020 16:39:31
Both sides are cardboard gangsters. Hard men in numbers, wouldn't say boo to a ghost on their own.

29 Sep 2020 16:52:50
They need to behave it's just that simple. Some of the behaviour at away games is way over the line.

29 Sep 2020 18:10:20
Away days are the best here we go. But i agree it can get a bit much esp away europe.

29 Sep 2020 07:37:11
Well as the days and weeks go on its appearing just how poor quality the Castore strips really are. Letters and numbers peeling all over. I do like the look of the strip but the quality is without doubt now very very poor. They even have the cheek to charge 170 for a hoody. Disgusting imo taking advantage of supporters loyalty. Even borna training kit the castore and gers badge looked like it had peeled off.

29 Sep 2020 13:23:16
I can only comment on my home top. Not a thing wrong with it. Have you got one of castore hoodies? Yup there expensive but you don't have to buy one if you think there expensive 😉
If you've got something wrong with one of there tops, return the item? 🤔.

29 Sep 2020 13:25:33
All I can say is I've had mine since day one of release! And no problems! But like I've said before, I remember problems with all strips rangers have ever released! These things happen to all clubs.

29 Sep 2020 14:07:11
I don't have a top. My kids have got them. Couple issues. Not half as bad as the daily posts on follow follow. Also if am spending a lot of money on clothes it won't have rangers printed across the front of it am not a teenager.

29 Sep 2020 17:43:55
Every bear to their own paul86!Its a personal choice and doesn't matter what age you are, as to any gers supporter wanting to buy/ wear their rangers top, or not for that matter.
Many middle aged older rangers supporters love buying and wearing their rangers replica jerseys!
Nothing at all wrong with that pal🤔.

29 Sep 2020 18:00:48
yeah each to there own you are correct . Just my own personal opinion, i like the strips just think the fans have been let down by castore quality sure i read an article from castore sayin 3% of strips sold had issues? that's probably over 3000 returns? That is shockin really. And the 170 pound hoody os a joke imo ofcourse.

29 Sep 2020 18:03:50
Also there was a women who posted on follow follow had the top few days over 2 weeks. All writing had peeled off. Castore emailed and told her shes outwith 14 day period and there's nothing there going to do about it.

29 Sep 2020 18:12:35
i also was not referring to the strips SGL. Its the hoody with massive castore wings and RANGERS FC sprawled rightnover the front. For 170 notes you maybe want it to be a little bit more subtle and better put together.
