ed what is the chance of Kevin Thomson coming back or any other old players like Novo??

{Ed010's Note - No chance for Novo and only slightly better odds on Thomson returning. I am setting myself for a fall here but my feelings are that Rangers should be looking to the future, rather than focusing on the past.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

ed, what are the possible ins and outs mate. im sick of readin daft arse post next il see Messi is talkin about a loan deal at rangers. i heard a wee rumour that we were lookin at HSV's RW Petroitha? (unsure on the spelling)

{Ed010's Note -Sorry to be a killjoy here but the reality of the situation is that I genuinely don't know who will be leaving and who will be arriving. Ally McCoist will not be going public on any of the transfer targets before they are signed up, whether that is an actual transfer or just a loan deal. There may be more chance of him going public in revealling players who will be leaving, simply as a way, of placing them in the shop window. With the transfer window not opening for another 5 weeks, I wouldn't expect there to be a hive of activity before then, so there will continue to be rumours and speculation, manifesting themselves on a daily basis, some could be near to the truth and others way off the mark.

With regards to your information, I have done a little research and can only come up with a 25 years old Burkina Faso winger/midfielder who goes by the name of Jonathan Pitroipa. In any case, it is a new name to me and to my knowledge, not one previously linked to Rangers.

people seriously need to cut the blatantly made up ridiculous rumours , we will not be going in for st johnstone players , there is a reason they play for st johnstone !

==================

To the idiot who said this . . . .

Just because the play in a worse football team DOES NOT make them a bad player . . . May I remind u a certain Mr McCoist played for St.Johnstone, and look how he turned out. Go watch some shinty or cricket, because you obviously know f*** all about football.

the rumours on this site are absolutely shocking. people who can't even spell RANGERS players names, making up the dumbest rumours ever. the best has to be rafael and fabio to rangers for 'experience'. come on! or people saying they know ally mccoists dads neighbours brother in laws grandson. im surprised half of these rumours even make it on the page. be realistic and not just blabber utter nonsense. ally knows who he wants and the only ones to be concrete so far is an approach for vaughan. and he's also the only player to say he has had contact with rangers.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

You're just a kill joy. I'll bet you invite people over for a party, ask them to leave at ten pm and hide their booze. If you don't like it don't read it and go and do something more valuable with your time. It's called a banter page.

Commentators said today during his game that he was leaving on bosman doesn't know wer he will be going though.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Commentators must have been using Wikipedia as their source then.

{Ed010's Note -That was uncalled for. Talk about kicking a man when he's down LOL

As far as I know it's actually QPR that are after them and not the mighty Glasgow Rangers. The fact that QPR often get refered to as Rangers is complicating certain rumours, that otherwise wouldn't perhaps be rumours at all.

Why is when people see a free agent they automatically link them with rangers. Ally knows who his targets are, some of the names we are being linked with would hold the club to randsome in wages. I think we need to bring in sensible players , if we can i think we should try and go for are :-

Upson- wages maybe too high.
snodgrass
conway- Squad player
carew- wages again maybe too high
gatusso- would play for free if need be
Goodwillie
vaughan
mackail smith

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Upson and Carew (especially): wages 'maybe' too high. Try definitely.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's true but could you not use some of your transfer kitty so subsidise there wages . That would be 2 quality signings. I looked into a list of free agents this summer and the list is shocking i mean theres some real talent out there and i don't just mean Britain

Agree0 Disagree0

Did Conway not say he didn't want to play in Scotland next season ? ed maybe u can help on this one :)

Hope that we don't resign kenny miller, have never seen a player caught offside so much in my life.(most offsides in champs league )

Believable0 Unbelievable2

So wen he no offside he got a mean eye for goal half a season n he was top scorer n u wouldn't take him bk we would b relegated if u were the gaffer lol oj m8

Agree3 Disagree1

To be fair to miller he, s always played right on the last mans shoulder, awrite i agree he does get caught a lot of the time but you, ve got o weigh that up with his goal return, think the old saying is if you don't buy a ticket

I dunno going by the CL final Hernandez could be a rival for most offside player. I certainly wouldn't take Miller back if we had to pay a fee for him.

{Ed010's Note - A player who certainly looked the part for West Ham but has been linked to several EPL teams, including Newcastle. I think he's out our price range.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe Demba Ba has a release clause
in his contract, activated due to relagation

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed do you think mackail smith would welcome a move?

{Ed010's Note -Every player who has any ambition, wants to play at the highest level possible and have something to show for it at the end of their career. I am almost certain that Craig Mackail Smith will realise that he has the opportunity to play in Europe and the potential to win trophies and medals evey year with Rangers. The only concern that I would have is us matching the wages potentially being offered by EPL and some of the bigger Championship clubs.

{Ed010's Note -Nothing. He is out of contract on 30 June 2011 unless Peterborough release him sooner.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed am sorry he aint out of contract an is quoted at 3.5m with a host of clubs after him in championship and everton and norwich

{Ed010's Note -I honestly didn't know when his contract expired so I checked him out on Wikipedia and took my information from there. The article reads......

"Scoring 35 goals, the most prolific scorer in England in the 2010-11 season. Mackail-Smith contract runs out at the end of the season, but Mackail-Smith ended his time at Posh well. Scoring the second goal in the 3-0 win against Huddersfield at Old Trafford to clinch promotion to the nPower Championship, on the 29th May, 2011".

posibilitys - ferguson, healy, murphy, douglas the brazilian, tomer, husklepp

Hullo My blue nosed friends can't wait to see what the dream team will do with the 5m yes 5 million pounds Mr Wright sorry S**TE has sanctioned for the mighty gers they will be a force again face it lads the gloom will return 5 fold should be 10 but never mind pax vobiscum

{Ed010's Note -Thanks for your insight into our transfer budget because for so far, it has all been media speculation and conjecture. It was revealed by Mr Whyte, that should he become the new Rangers owner, that he would give Ally McCoist £5m over the next 5 years to invest in new players. Soon after the takeover, Walter Smith went public in expressing his view that Ally would need considerably more than £5m in the first season, a view that Mr Whyte agreed with and again went public on that issue. It is just a question of what, "considerably more than £5m" actually means but quite obviously you have inside information, my Celtic friend.

Even if Ally is given £5m and not a penny more, we Rangers fans are safe in the knowledge that Mr Lennon spent double that amount last year in the hope of "buying" the SPL title and failed miserably. So I really can't see why you should be so worried about our club, when we have been the league champions over the last 3 seasons and done so on a comparitive, shoe string budget.

Oh yes and "Peace be with you" my Celtic friend, that's English by the way, not Latin lol

Believable1 Unbelievable1

The Whyte Knight may not be what you think WHO owns your club? 86% 5 million that will be it Mogadon left our club our club in a mess but we are back the best squad we have had for a long time.

Agree1 Disagree1

1 team for the spl and 1 team for europe what did they do in both SFA

K

Agree1 Disagree1

Actually I've heard a number of different figures for how much McCoist will get. I've heard numbers between 5 and 25 million.

He definitely won't get 25 million but I reckon he'll get sufficient money to get the squad reasonably well covered and bring in one or two quality players. He'll still have to watch and spend wisely, but the money will be there and there'll be less worry about wages for bringing in players on Bosmans.

As for Lennon "buying" the title, he actually spent very little last summer when you consider his incoming fees (around 10M) were around about what he spent. Two quality players in McGeady, Boruc; and a bunch of loanees also left the club and had to be replaced and the squad were in dire straights after Mowbray turned the team upside down. The rebuilding had to be done.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 May 2011 15:52:37

hi ed any more news on jaouad zairi just released from olympiacos is he a legit target, where did this rumour surface from? would love to see him at ibrox him and hemed look like good bosman deals theres quality to be found out there on the bosman market and leave some transfer cash for some other targets, i personally think they ll keep a chunk till after euro qualification and decide whether to splash some in jan, also id edu isn't sold should he not revert back to his natural postion of centre half? ideal build for it as he doesn't have the skill we need in the middle of the park any thoughts?

{Ed010's Note - Wow, that's a lot to take in on a Sunday afternoon lol. Okay, I will try my best to address your post, point by point, starting with Zairi. Jaouad Zairi was not a name that I was familiar with and only became aware of him when a fellow Rangers fan posted a link to Youtube explaining that he was very skillful player and looked like a young Ronaldo and that Rangers should sign him.

On the point of "Bosmans", I totally agree with you that there are lots of good player out there who are currently available but even more will appear once contracts expire and the transfer window opens.

On the subject of transfer funds, I agree with you and think that Ally will hold some cash back. There will be players available in January and some who will be entering the last 6 months of their contract, so Ally could pick up a wee gem and would need some cash to cement the deal or deals.

A couple of seasons ago, Maurice Edu was one of Rangers most consistent performers but this season he has been poor. Granted, he had several injuries but whether he will go back to centre half, I have my doubts. It's only my opinion but if another club makes a move for him, I think that Ally should listen to it and sell him if the price is right.

Are the rumours about michael owen true Ed? {Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything from his camp to suggest he is considering a move up north. Everything I have heard has been about him wanting to stay near his stables. The only reason he agreed to join Newcastle was an agreement that he could fly to training every day rather than move. Do you really want a player that is so lacking in commitment to a team that he would not be prepared to move?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This is a response from Ed001 not our bluenose ed, but its the last comment about "do you really want a player that is so lacking commitment to a team that he would not be prepared to move?"

It's a knowing fact that Davie Weir has not moved and his family still stay in England, I know everyone supposedly has an Uncle in Ibrox as a chef, window cleaner, Boot shiner etc, I have none of the above but my Uncle boss is Davie's mate and after 1 of the last games of the season dropped him off down south. So it is proof that Weir stays down there, he also dropped Diouf in Burnley that night, don't know the reason for that but said that Diouf never spoke much just sat texting on his phone and that Big Davie was a real gentleman.

Again this is not a rumour or anything its just a fact that players don't have to move to be commited to a club, I think big Davie has shown he is as commited as they come. {Ed001's Note - I meant that Owen's commitment is towards his stables, not his football. Sorry I should have made that clear.}

I've heard rangers linked with Sander Post from Flora Talinn. He was top goalscorer in Estonian league with 24 goals. He is a big target man(6foot6), McCoist has had him watched and is a known admirer. He is 27 and wants a move to England but would also like to join either of the old firm with Rangers a preferance. Price tag seems a bit hefty of £4m but with new investment seems possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No real rumours come fae these sites anyway

{Ed010's Note -A "rumour" is information that is related, often a mixture of truth and untruth, passed around verbally or in this case posted online. Based on other posts and the negative comments, I think you are a Celtic supporter in disguise.

Anyway, to your point, which I have to admit is the shortest (8 words) contradictary statement I have ever read. If a "rumour" is "real", then it must be a "fact", so it is impossible to have a "real rumour".

pity we could not sign the barcalona youth coaches maybe get some good players in a few years rather than buying second rate players from epl who have failed

Believable1 Unbelievable0

It also depends on the talent that's there in the first place and the mentality of the whole club - remember that the system Barca play is the same in every team and they make sure they have the players to play it at every level. In Scotland, the mentality is totally different and the raw talent doesn't seem to be there. It will take a complete change in how kids are coached from a very young age to make a difference. It's not as easy as just having great coaches.

Agree1 Disagree0

Te firsst thing that needs to change is what the clubs ask for in a player, when running teams we were always asked for a decent big lad rather then the more skillful small player, alaways wanted athletes rather good footballers.
Rangers youth set up is not anywhere good enough, not enough lads kept in long enough, not enough good coaches. Get the coaches to holland , Italy , Spain and be taught to shown what is needed then return and teach our coaches and players

This might sound like a weird one but I think we should make a move for Adam Rooney. He scored 15 goals in the league last season(only two less than goodwillie and Dundee utd have better players to assist). He is only 23 and because he is from inverness we could get him on a small wage and use as a 'back up'.
