Midfield going to have 3 new faces next year on top of what wee already have my god talk about hard battle for places, docherty and the 2 pre contract boys, grez, Middleton, Candias, hopefully Kent, Murphy, possibly Davis, Arfield, Jack, McCrorie, Dorrans, Rossiter, Halliday, Holt wee definitely must trim this down. Who would u get rid of and who would u have as our core midfielders for next campaign?

Holt won't return, he is sadly not good enough. Halliday's contract is up so it will be interesting if he is given another year. Rossiter will need to prove his worth while out on loan and then in preseason and will need to stay fit. Dorrans needs to stay fit and prove that he has the quality that we have yet to see, (similar to Rossiter) . Sadly I fear that we won't get Kent unless it is another season's loan and I am not convinced that we will sign Davis on a permanent contract.

M3LVO you cannot put all those lads in the same list. jones grezda middleton candieas and kent are all wingers and not in direct competition. I would put them in front 3 department. Sadly don't think middleton is good enough. Reminds me so much of greg wylde.

First of all nice to hear from you on here again, TOMUSA. I tend to agree with you regarding young ryan kent! Hope i'm wrong but i can't see us being able to sign kent, on a permanent deal! There's clubs in the english championship, like leeds utd for instance, who are prepared to pay liverpool Ā£4million for him! I agree, the best we can hope for is another season long loan deal! I'll reiterate, hope i'm wrong!

Anyone else see the crap the sun posted online of Cowdenbeath pitch been covered in snow apparently the pics were taken today. But on sky since yesterday showing live feed of the massive heated tent covering the pitch. The story has now been removed. Just shows the length they press lads will go to write drivel.

Let me ask a question, I won't ask for a poll cause there's enough of them on here. Reading the comments I see there's a big claim for Arfield to be dropped for Davis. What's everyone's opinion on that? I think that there's no way Arfield should be dropped, he was immense against Celtic, played a hand in all 3 goals at Livingston and when he's not playing we do miss him. Yes, he had a bad game at Killie, which seemed to have started this nonsense talk but come on guys, it's got to be Arfield all day. Yes Davis is good, but Davis today is different from Davis 7yrs ago.

Arfield over Davis for now for me, doesnāt hurt to have an extra body in as the likelihood of Jack McCrorie and Arfield all playing every game between now and the end of the season is non existent. Injuries or suspension will soon create an opportunity for Davis and he has the ability to become a mainstay.

Arfield didn't have a good game against Killie because SG changed the formation. He completely snuffed out Broonie in the Old Firm game and was involved in all 3 goals last Sunday. On form, he must stay in the team!

That for me is our strongest team, its up to others to prove they deserve to start. I'm actually leaning towards halliday over barasic. I have yet to see barasic perform the way halliday did against celtic. š.

For me Arfield is the better player rn, Davis from 7 years ago was unplayable. I think many fans still think of Davis as this player but sadly I think he has lost it a bit.

Horses for courses surely. There will be games where we need a more creative midfielder, then Davis will come in. We have more depth now that doesnāt mean trying to fit everyone in a best 11. Before January we were all agreed that we needed a creative player to break teams down. Now we have that youāre arguing why he shouldnāt be in the first 11. Why not trust Gerrard (who has made mistakes and will yet) to make these decisions based on who we are up against, and the condition of our players who he sees training everyday?

Watched Davis closely when he came on on Sunday.
He was at least a yard behind play and did not give the impression of a seasoned International. Will reserve judgement as I think he deserves benefit of the doubt, but to me he was looking for a second or 2 every time the ball came close, and he should know, you don't get that up here!

Davis not match fit and has yet to prove himself. Hopefully tomorrow he and Defoe will go some way to justifying SGās commitment to them. For me the jury remains out on both of them.

In my opinion Arfield is better at the moment, he is box to box all game.
Him and jack play well together when McRorie is sitting and breaking up play.
Davis needs to get some games in his legs as I totally agree with bar72 he looked at least a yard of the pace when he came on on Sunday.

Davis may have been a bit off the ace and looked for that 2 seconds when he had the ball as he has been playing in a league where he can do that for the past 6/ 7 years, he's going to need time to readjust to our league again, he will come good again no doubt about that.

Rossiter is only 21. He needs to show that he can stay fit and excel while he is on loan. All the loanees will go since I doubt Liverpool will do a deal for Kent and I genuinely wonder whether we need Davis given all our alternative options in midfield. Herrera seems to be doing well on the current loan deal so he will hopefully go and I don't see Holt or Alnwick coming back. Also suspect that Halliday won't get a new contract. Same with Wallace and Macaulay.
