So Alex McLeish is heading for the sack. Given his illness i'm so glad he is being taken out of the firing line before some tartan tranny does him in. I think the treatment he has received is absolutely deplorable. His whole character and standing in the game has been plunged into the gutter by the so called Scotland supporting media as well as players, ex players and ex managers. Remember this was a guy who regularly outfoxed O'Neill and won more trophies for us in a shorter space of time. He is being portayed as some kind of pantomime villain here and the vilification he has received from every corner has been nothing short of disgraceful. A nicer guy you couldn't meet. Yes he has a problem and shouldn't have been offered the job, but come on, have a heart. He is sick and needs help, pure and simple. This episode has only strengthened my resolve against the national team i really couldn't care less what they do or who they play. I for one will not be tuming in. They can all jog on!

28 Mar 2019 22:05:58
What a load of bull, the guy is clueless end of.

28 Mar 2019 22:18:54
Seeker - I am Scottish, born and bred, and can disassociate my national identity from a bunch of idiot teuchters in tartan bunnets and some self serving **** in blazers. I will continue supporting my country whilst giving them short shrift.

Second, let's not rewrite history with McLeish. He was a poor Rangers manager and we were chasing him out the door by the end. He won one title with Advocaat's players, absolute top drawer guys like De Boer and Ferguson. He then oversaw a record 7 Old Firm defeats while losing the title to Celtic. Then the following season scraped over the line on the last day after Celtic imploded and threw away a lead. He made some truly awful signings and was terrible tactically. Hamed Namouchi anyone? Fans protested outside the stadium to get rid of him!

I feel bad for him with his illness but he was a mediocre manager and I was glad when he left.

29 Mar 2019 08:31:51
What illness does he have?

29 Mar 2019 08:35:58
Everybody is entitled to their opinion of course. The big guy won more trophies than O'Neill in a shorter spacs of time, including a treble in 2003. What wouldn't we give for a mere sniff of that just now? Don't you agree that the vilification from everywhere is nowhere near what the likes of Strachan, or even Levein/ Burley got. Couldn't give a flying f*** about the national team. Only Gers for me.

29 Mar 2019 10:20:35
DEEB , I think it's stupidity.

29 Mar 2019 10:22:00
The only people saying he is ill are those same papers. Moreover, he should never have got the job and the people you are insulting are the ones giving him a big fat cheque to embarrass Scotland.

In short - I don't think the SFA give a flying **** about whether you support them or not.

29 Mar 2019 10:53:01
And i don't give a flying f*** about what you think either pal. You have a nice day now.

29 Mar 2019 11:14:04
It's interesting to note some on here offered sympathy for griffiths re mental rescue issues, rightly so.
Strange some chose to slaughter an ex manager of ours who has issues.

29 Mar 2019 11:43:02
What illness?

29 Mar 2019 11:55:03
I personally have offered my sympathies. But I'm also not suddenly going to pretend he was a great manager. People just change their opinion like the wind. I expressed sympathy for Griffiths too, doesn't mean I all of a sudden started liking him. You can have empathy for another human without having to think they are good at their job or like them as a person.

29 Mar 2019 13:03:46
McLeish is clueless regardless of anything else. He done well with Dick's squad, got lucky in the FA cup with Brum but that aside he has done nothing but show himself to be a pretty poor manager for a lot of years now. His etiquette in interviews is embarrassing as well. The guy is terrible at stringing sentences together.

29 Mar 2019 13:36:44
McLeish wasn't some messiah when he was manager but he won 5 trophies and a cup in England. He wasn't sh*te when he managed Gers. To read some of the things written about him shocks and surprises me.

29 Mar 2019 13:39:11
Deep, FYI he has early onset dementia/ alzheimers. My mother had it. Not a killer but horrible none the less. Watching loved one waste away not funny. The only plus is he will remember his football highpoints but not what he had for breakfast that morning. This is the worst it gets. Thankfully a slow acting condition and he's not on way out yet. Read posts naming Mcleish/ slagging his record in same breath. Well, in grand scheme it doesn't matter a damn. I for one will think only of his health.
A very sympathetic party.

29 Mar 2019 13:55:54
Well said Miller.

29 Mar 2019 15:46:44
Miller is that a fact about eck
If so how do you know?

30 Mar 2019 06:29:01
On a side note here, I remember watching him around 2 years ago, he was doing punditry on our game at Aberdeen might have been around the time of Warburtons departure. He was incoherent that day and all over the place, I thought then something was up and he was touted for us both times we gave been looking for a manager recently. He has been finished as a top level manager for a while and hopefully if the SFA want rid they’ll pay the man up and move on with his dignity in tact.

28 Mar 2019 16:41:38
I am still scratching my head over the sudden demise of Glen Middleton in the first team. He was playing superbly early in the season and then got dropped so that we could accommodate Ryan Kent (a loanee) . We are now talking about trying to buy Kent for silly money. Don't try telling me he is a better player than middleton. The way middleton has been treated you would have thought that he FARTED IN CHURCH or something. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS THE FAMOUS.

28 Mar 2019 17:41:53
Totally agree with you mate that's why am no keen on SG doesn't seem to play our better than his loan duds.

28 Mar 2019 18:34:23
Because he's a one trick pony at present and was found out rapidly, he doesn't possess much skill just very direct hit it and run decent defenders can suss that no probs.

28 Mar 2019 19:04:55
Middleton s performances went downhill prior to him being dropped, hopefully he will learn and come back better.

28 Mar 2019 19:21:00
Found out I'm afraid - as Fergie says he is a one trick pony. His last few starts and subs, he was very poor. Probably a loss of confidence.

28 Mar 2019 21:37:11
Middleton is nowhere near the standard of Kent. Middleton is a decent player who is still very young and predictable. For his age he’s very good but in terms of 1st team at Rangers he’s not good enough yet.
His youthful enthusiasm means his direct style surprised a few early on but he shows defenders too much of the ball.
Kent on the other hand can go inside or outside and has a better final ball.

28 Mar 2019 22:08:42
Kent is clearly a decent player but his stats are no better than Candeias and a lot of people think he isn't good enough, 2 or 3 mill tops no more as he doesn't have enough end product like the rest of the wingers we have.

28 Mar 2019 23:42:13
Kents stats are identical to Middleton difference is Middleton has start less games so why would we want fork out 2 3 million on a player who has same stats as one of our younger players with less game time.
If Middleton had played all the games kent has there is a good chance the lad would have had more assists and goals that kent currently has.
Goals and assists are what wins games not fancy footwork and dribbles with the ball.
Middleton should at least be on the bench.

29 Mar 2019 12:41:26
Middleton is the new version of gregg wyldle imo. don't really rate the kid. Send him out on loan for a season.

29 Mar 2019 21:34:17
Tilladie, In press brother.

30 Mar 2019 10:45:47
Craig that's my point. If Gerrard and Rangers are intent on getting him I wouldn't want them to spend more than 2 or 3 mill, even then of course i think we have enough options on the left that we don't need to buy him. As i said he is a decent player but he has to have more end product but if he was scoring and making more goals we would have no chance of getting him anyway.

28 Mar 2019 10:30:18
Need to press them high and not sit back.
They don't react well to a high pressing game.
Another early start for me, do us proud lads.

28 Mar 2019 11:07:55
Think the big selection issue for SG is does he start with Davis or Kamara. I would say no and start with both Jack and McCrorie in midfield alongside Arfield.

28 Mar 2019 13:15:55
Can't stress how important mcrorie is in my opinion.

28 Mar 2019 14:20:15
CanadaBear hope you don’t have to get up too early Anyway enjoy the game.

28 Mar 2019 16:11:06
High press can backfire we've no real pace at back if they break with Forrest, burke or sinclair none of our guys are catching them but I do see your logic that's my only worry that and usual Morelos worry about staying on the park.

28 Mar 2019 17:43:19
His 1st pick will be that duff player Worral.

28 Mar 2019 21:15:53
Worral was our best defender last Tim we played smeltic.

28 Mar 2019 10:15:09
Supercoop has been spotted in Westminster. Apparently he is assisting with the Indicative Voting stuff on the Brexit question.

28 Mar 2019 11:12:58
He has asked the house of commons not to vote on Brexit. Just have a poll.

28 Mar 2019 07:23:52
Let's hope Steven Gerrard gets the right team selection for Sunday and 100 percent from all his players. Commitment is crucial on Sunday. I hope Kamara is no where near the action as doesn't concentrate enough and never wins a 50 50. Good luck lads we need 11 warriors and even that might not be enough.

28 Mar 2019 08:20:56
I totally agree Tommy as I was totally shocked by Kamara against the sheep! The guy looked out his depth and continued to give the ball away and the thought of him at the piggery is frightening🇬🇧✌️.

28 Mar 2019 09:35:06
We need to press them high up the pitch and take the game to them like we did at Ibrox.
Don’t stand off them and let them settle into the game, it’s them who are under pressure they are at home and EXPECT a win.
Lenny knows anything other than a win puts his future job prospects under threat so let’s go for it this time and unsettle them and give our season a shot in the arm.
If we come back down to 7 points having beat them home and away with old firm at Ibrox to come they will start to crumble.
They have scored 4 stoppage time winners this season, 3 in their last 3 away games, we have conceded stoppage time goals to go from win to draw with Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hibs.
That’s the difference between us is mentality not ability so a big performance on Sunday and hopefully a win will so wanders for our confidence going forward.

28 Mar 2019 10:02:26
Who glen 'vieria' kamara? You guys are at it👍.

28 Mar 2019 22:08:25
Kamara should be 1st name
On team sheet for the midfield.

28 Mar 2019 22:20:57
If McRorie starts we win, if he doesn't we lose.

29 Mar 2019 08:38:49
Do you really think we win if McRorie plays, swagman? I like the guy and hope to god you are right, but i think there are many other factors to take into account.

29 Mar 2019 11:58:36
We've only lost 1 game this season, to Rapid Vienna, when he has started. That stat says it all for me. He reads danger, puts out fires all over the park, sometimes takes the ball deep and drives forward with it when we are passing it sideways, and generally sets the whole tempo for the rest of the team. Him and Arfield would be in my midfield every week and would be my captain and vice-captain too. I would have Ryan Jack as the 3rd man in midfield on Sunday. They'll run over the top of Kamara or Davis.
