Why aren't we playing any games in Portugal?

We have 4 home friendlies and at least 4 European games before the league kick off, that will be plenty to get ready for the league!

Rangers have a programme that has been set by unmovable fixtures. The Rangers management team have decided to set all their preparation around this. Do you think its because there is no teams to play or we don't want to play. I can't get my head round your query, don't you think they know what their doing. Give me your preparation strategy that significantly differs from the Rangers porefessional management team full of scientists, top coaches, physios, doctors, analysts and the manager with the highest qualification available. Please let us all know.

So why would we go to Portugal and no play anyone? Seems a bit daft to me. Surely we've got a couple of bounce games lined up? What's the point in going then?

I think the reason is warm weather training mate which increases the demands on the body. They can also rely on playing outdoors all the time, first week back at the Hummel there was some pretty big down pours. Team bonding away from domestic worries and world class facilities is a major draw. Most athletes do some warm weather training at facilities like this. Do you think they should have stayed at the Hummel and for what reason.

I'm with you TJ but I still think they should be playing some games. I've never heard of a club going away for pre season and not playing.

i think maybe you think we should be doing a similar pre season as celtic as1974? they are playing games against austrian teams i think? not sure what the best strategy is? totally trust our coaching team though . also agree that we have enough games in the next month, so as much as i like you would love to see rangers playing now we will just trust what they are doing and be patient .

Squad morale, bed the new boys into squad, a couple of weeks of sunshine and hard work, tactics to work on to fit the new guys into the system.

What you talking about Brian? Who cases about Septic. Don't you think going away on pre season and not playing any games isint weird? We have our first Europa qualifier in less than 2 weeks. Training is a lot different from playing 90 mins so wind your neck in.

That training resort in Algarve is very highly rated and has a great reputation. that's why they are there. Hence why van dijk n other players are there.

Gerrard saying if he got another centre half he would be happy to Go into new season with what he's got but surely another striker is a must, must admit I'm a bit underwhelmed at the signings though we would've pushed the boat out a bit more.

I'm not in the least underwhelmed by our signings so far, as i totally trust gerrard and mark allen, to have done their homework on all our signings. I can remember there was a good few on here, who doubted the signing of glen kamara in january.
Say no more. Wait and see Me2,how they all intergrate and turn out before jumping the gun. Give the manager credit and the new signings a chance!

As we generally play with a sole striker then we could manage with the squad we have, the likes of Greg Stewart, Ojo and Aribo could fill the role if Defoe and Buffalo were out.

I think we�ve done just fine with signings. Don�t forget we�ve got Murphy coming back as well which will be like a new signing. If Barasic gets the finger out that�ll be another huge bonus. He�s been cracking for Croatia so there�s obviously something there. Well now have the likes of Candeias, Jones, Stewart, Edmondson on the bench which is a huge improvement. One more back up CB and a striker will put us in good stead but I don�t think they�re necessary if we keep all the players we have. There�s a lot of time left in the window. No doubt Stevie G and Mark Allen will bide their time and see if they can get some more real quality near the end of the window.

If it was just to sell season tickets (which I don�t believe) then it�s worked! Record season ticket sales this year, something that lot can only dream of!

Well how much are you expecting us to spend? Pedro spent near 10mill as did gerrard last season look where that got us throwing money away on duds. Does it matter how much we spent. Kamara and aribo will be top players and got them for combined fee 350k. If morelos stays there is absolutely no need to go buy another striker to sit on the bench.

We need guys like lafferty out before we bring in a third striker or we re going to be wasting even more money, I think we will bring one in but only when players moved on, CB will be happening as it�s needed anything else will be if and when the right person becomes available that will improve starting 11 as I feel we have a pretty strong squad on a whole, We were best side in league at the tail end of the season and we ve improved the squad as it stands already.

Cork?, St Josephs are from Gibraltar FTW, either way, I'm just glad we're playing in Europe, and I feel we'll do well again. I personally though, see the SPL Title as our priority this season.

Regardless of titles, we should be aiming for group stage European football every season, it won�t always happen and if I�m honest we�re probably odds against making it just now. The more games we have in Europe the better player we can attract and improve each year. I do agree that the league is a priority though but we are improving the 2nd 11 this summer and hopefully our squad is better equipped for the European demands.

Europe was a boost to our league form last year. Rather than falling away we seemed to play better as we kept busy. Our problem seemed to come after we left the Europa League, until then we were on a roll.
