The last couple of years when I've been in Edinburgh in march I've found Milne's in rose st to be ok and was packed out with us bears when I was looking for somewhere to watch the old firm in mid march 2017 and 2018 there's a place just up the street called the filling station which great for food although the food is A1 in Milne's as well mate. If going in to watch the match on Thursday best trying to get one of the central booths against the windows upstairs as from there you have a perfect view of one of the TV's and it's also right next to the bar.

I’ve been a big fan of Stevie G and most of what the club has done in his time, but I have to say I’m very disappointed with our treatment of Dorrans. I know for a fact he turned down double what he gets from us to stay in England because he wanted to play for his boyhood club. The reason he has struggled with injuries in his time at the club is because he spent the first season here playing through the pain barrier and at well below 100% as he felt he owed it to the fans as our big signing of that summer. This is a man who has put his body, career and reputation on the line for the club he loves and to see him treated like this is a disgrace.
I don’t mind the ostracising of guys like Grezda, and previous to him Pena etc, guys who were never fit to wear the shirt, but the lack of respect we are showing to good guys these days, off the back of the appalling way we have treated Lee Wallace, is worrying to me. We are better than that. When guys love the badge like Dorrans and Wallace do, the least we can do is give them that bit of respect. We as a club should hold ourselves to that standard.

People totally missing the point. It’s not about getting him off the wage bill. It’s about how he is treated until then. Here’s a hypothetical - and one that isn’t too far fetched - we can’t get anyone else to take him and once the window closes Davis and Arfield both get injuries that rule them out for the season. Meanwhile we have an experienced player of similar ilk who has been training away from the first team for months and probably won’t be up to speed.

How have the club treated Dorrans badly? He was playing then got injured. He was injured for a long time, the club signed new players, moved on. He's now fit but obiviously isn't showing the gaffer he's better than the players in front of him. Isn't that just football is?

If Arfield and Davis got injured, we would still have Docherty, Kamara, Jack, Aribo. Polster looked decent today in midfield as well so I don’t think that would be a big issue. Dorrans just not good enough anymore unfortunately. We all wanted it to work for him but injuries have stopped any chance of that happening now.

Because he’s been papped out away from the first team, not even allowed to train with them. Unless someone is clearly a bad apple, which I don’t believe to be the case here, that kind of exclusion makes no sense. It’s embarrassing to the player, to the club and believe me it would make other players think twice about moving to the club, as football is a small community and players talk.
As I say, also short sighted as while we are paying his wage we may as well make sure we are able to use him if required. Like I say, if we can’t move him on and we get some injuries after the window we’ll see how wise a policy this is.

SG has been honest with all his players. Some are good and part of his plans, some are not part of his plans and available for transfer.
I'm sure Dorrans isn't being ostracized. He isn't training himself. It's just football at most big clubs. You need to keep improving and unfortunately, some decent players get replaced by better every season.

Just after reading that liverpool manager jurgen klopp has ruled out ryan kent going out on loan again, to any club. He says the reason is that ryan kent is now at an age where he has to settle and find a permanent home. I now admit my disappointment and know now that kent won't be back at rangers. We just can't afford the wee man. Looks very much like leeds utd will buy him on a permanent deal. I like coldo and others on here, was desparate to see him back with rangers this season. But we all knew it would have to be on loan, as we just can't afford to buy him permanently. I still wish the wee man all the very best in his career, wherever that is.
Really enjoyed watching him playing for us last season and thank him for the memories.
We just have to move on, but he would have made a difference to our starting 11,if we had managed to get him on loan again!

Kent and Candias were good if not outstanding last year in some games. We now have Ojo, Murphy, Stewart, Hastie and Jones. I would have picked Kent and Candias above all 5. So IMO we have taken a step back when it comes to wingers at the moment. If we don't get Kent then we need to look elsewhere for a player that frightens teams and ties up 2 to 3 defenders. The Jury is still out on Ojo, Murphy I don't think will ever be back, Jones I like but will blow hot and cold and Stewart a squad player that will be useful now and again, Hastie maybe next season. i'm sure the management team are working hard behind the scenes to solve this. A target man and robust dependable hard working winger still required.

We have sadly gone for quantity over quality on the wings. Ojo looks decent but Jones and Stewart aren’t great and Hastie doesn’t look ready yet. With Grezda and Candeias away I would like to see one more experienced winger/ attacking player in. If we can keep Murphy fit then that will help.

Murphy will not make it back with us. We've moved on too much for him imho. Jones looks better than I thought as does Stewart, and ojo looks a typical young winger, a bit hot and cold.
I think we've lost a bit too tho losing Kent and candias. Just that different style/ quality that you need sometimes.

After what I've seen so far from the Europa qualifiers and pre season looks like Goldson could be the weakest CB we have at the club and that says a lot for the way players have shown up in pre season and also our new signings for Goldson to fall from what seems to be auto 1st choice to possibly 4th choice as I can't really see 3 mil being spent on Helander not to play and Edmondson seems to be the gaffers new 1st pick where it was Goldson last season and Katiç looks like a much more mature player and seems to have added to his game.

I love Katic but Goldsons distribution is better. The cross field long range switch is very important to the way we play. Edmunsons long range passing is even better with both feet. If Katic could pass long range to feet he would be first choice and worth many millions. let's hope he can develop that side of his game.
I really don't know who the best pairing would be but we really are blessed with good centre halves. I might be wrong but I don't think we will see Katic and Helander play together in serious games if we need long range passing.

With george edmundson playing as well as he's had in europe and the friendlies, he's given gerrard food for thought. I have no doubt that gerrard would have had goldson and helander as his no.1 pairing at centre half. Edmundson has looked terrific and most definitely given our manager a headache here. I think all 4 will get game time, but i still think goldson and helander will be stevie G's preferred centre half pairing. that's just my opinion.

So Gerrard has said in press conference after debt match - there is no 1.75m offer for Eros Grezda only loan offered which have not met what Rangers want
And not confirmed bids for Morelos either
But Gerrard wants him to stay
Looks like we're going to be stuck with some of the fringe players that we really need shot of - probably down to the fact there all on good wages and getting paid to do nothing- infuriating
If we could lose a few then maybe we could go for another striker I feel like we really need one
Morelos is still missing opportunity's in front of goal - if he stays he REALLY needs to be hitting g the back of the net more times than he misses and he needs to also do it in the big games when we need them especially Europe and against our arch rivals
He might score 30 or more goals but we need him to be scoring in the big games as well as against the smaller opposition
And if not going to be able to do it we need another striker who might be more capable on the bigger stage
Defoe won't be able to play every game all season in every competition

Guys I’m a huge rangers fan have been all my life I want what’s best for our team and I’m not slagging Morelos off but we need to do better if we want a good run in Europe and win the league first and foremost
We can’t afford stupid draws this year we should be going and putting teams in our league away every time
We have added quality we have the management team in place which is right for the club
It’s down to the payers now to really show what there maid of and get this league in the bag this year
We will have one of the highest wage bills now in Scotland so we need a result this year.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree with you mate I’m not sure Morelos is the player most Rangers fans think he is. Would he prolific in the Championship I’m not so sure. He’s no Ali Maoist that’s for certain. To pin you’re hopes on a player who has a volatile temperament and has questionable talent is folly if you ask me. I’d be looking for someone to supplement or replace him.

I have been critical of Morelos. It is so frustrating as there is a great player in there but his decision making is shocking at times and he does miss chances. Added to that his temperament and you have some negatives. On the flip side he is big, strong and fairly quick and is prepared to battle and run the channels. And he was top scorer in the spl last season despite missing so many games through suspension. Defoe is still class and razor sharp and looks as fit as a fiddle. Time is against him though and you would seriously doubt if he could play every game. I'd tend to take the money for Morelos as I suspect he wants to move, however I would hold out for at least 12m and a decent sell on fee. The lad is surely worth that. If he does go I'd expect the club to bring in at least one striker as Lafferty has also gone. A Hateley or Prso type would be a godsend and would set us up nicely for an assault on the title this season.

Can someone explain to me how a striker can have for e. g. 30 goals and say, 20 attempts? No you can’t. That’s effectively what you are saying you want. If you are not then what you are saying is if Morelos tried to score less goals but had a higher goal ratio that would be better! Because his stats would say so. LOL!

4 good centrebacks is a great problem to have. I agree, I think Katic has earned himself a regular place in the side. Always an aerial threat at corners. Helander also looked very self assured and was very unlucky not to score. All good!

Good preparation today against Derby who come with a decent calibre
Got to say, I didn't think in terms of possession that we would dominate as much as we did given Derby County are one of the top. sides in the Championship
After watching all friendlies bar the one in Portugal Vs Mansfield I do think there is one slight headache
The lack of quality finishing or should I say not being near clinical enough!
It may come back to haunt us when we come up against better opposition this year
We really need to start putting away the chances Today's match was no different but I will add that Derby's goalkeeper pulled off some decent saves
We are in desperate need of a tall finisher upfront that can also hold the ball up That in my opinion is the missing link and hopefully the more direct play from the dribble king Ryan Kent 😉.

It wasn't worth the £12 that's for sure 🤦♂️. We dominated the whole game but as a poster above said we weren't clinical enough. Jones isn't a replacement for Kent I think that's pretty clear. Doesn't beat his man nearly enough. Halliday looked better than Barisic to me today despite Barisic having a decent game. Katic is a monster in the air I don't understand why he isn't first choice. I'd have Katic and Helander or Katic and Edmundson ad first picks so far. I'd only have Helander before Edmundson/ Katic for experience and he's a lefty.

Agreed Coldo if it wasn't for his goal return I would be calling him the new Dalcio, aright I took that to far, LOL. His performances have been poor but still preseason so we can't really judge at the moment. There's no doubt about his pace and he can put in a tackle but he's wasted a lot of the ball. i'm sure he will come good when he finds his feet and adjusts to the Scottish game and the way we play.
Now that the dust has settled after Progrees, what worried me was it was a mirror image of us against a diddy team from last year, we absolutely battered them however on another day that game could have been 2 each. It just shows with all the talent in the world its hard to score a bag full against a parked bus. I can see our first game against Kille being similar so we must concentrate fully over the 90 or we will get punished. Just wonder if we will look at our tactics against such teams, when we play high and effectively the whole game in the final third we can look vulnerable on the counter which on many occasions ends in a set piece for the opposition.
that's the party piece of most SPL teams against us and was effective last year. More discipline in midfield perhaps, less gung ho, better defending on the counter, what do I know, just hope the management team have a few tricks up their sleeves. what's everybody thoughts, tactics tweek? or just batter teams we have better players this year and should score?
