That's the sheep losing at Hamilton. A win against St Johnstone and it's back to 6 points. If this doesn't galvanise the team nothing will. It's time the players starting leaving everything they have on that park. They owe the fans big time. Let's go for it!

28 Feb 2017 22:40:38
these players have gave up and that's clear to see they are not capable of getting galvanised by aberdeen droping points but this formation doesn't suit them so maybe this is why they are not performing aswell

28 Feb 2017 17:12:43
Alex Neil now favorite for the job. Good young manager with more expirence tham when he left Hamilton.

28 Feb 2017 17:46:52
Would have him in a heartbeat but will never happen.

28 Feb 2017 18:05:09
25 to 1 to evens somebody on it?

28 Feb 2017 21:45:28
would need to pay compensation though, but good manager.

28 Feb 2017 22:07:28
I keep reading that we need someone with experience at a high level. Neil has been a manager for less than four years, a whole year more than Barry Ferguson. He also hates Rangers. I can never see a Rangers board ever who would think the appointment of Alex Neil as manager was acceptable.

28 Feb 2017 23:18:30
so what he is a celtic fan, he has done well at Norwich and Hamilton and that's all that should matter!

01 Mar 2017 07:31:13
mo Johnson, Neil McCann, amoroso, gattuso, porrini, novo and many more.
stein, mcgrain, dagliesh, provan and many more.
get a life who cares what team they supported, this rubbish is only relevant if your Scottish or Irish for some reason.

01 Mar 2017 07:38:11
It's pathetic isn't it? It shouldn't be relevant at all

01 Mar 2017 15:09:58
@wee-ecky- he's achieved a hell of a lot more in his 4 years as a manager than BF. You're another one who needs to move on from the year 1690 to allow the club to progress.

01 Mar 2017 17:00:29
Alex Neil does not hate rangers. He is not a Celtic fan

01 Mar 2017 18:01:00
Do u think Alex Neil will want to b the guy that stops 10 in a row then go back to visit family in Coatbridge. i don't think so

01 Mar 2017 17:51:30
why shouldn't it be relavant?
i hate celtic and if i played for them i'd give 100 percent but if i was managing them to be honest i'd try run them into the ground.

so if he hates rangers which he has all but admitted then why the hell would we want him in the managers job

28 Feb 2017 15:56:22
MA was the closest we were going to get to a Billionaire owner. He did not have Rangers interests at heart and it would not have ended well

DK is a millionaire and a fan and as such has done very well to gain control then stabilize the club.
MW was a mistake that has held us back. Neither DK nor the board have the depth of pockets needed to get us challenging Celtic in a meaningful way within the next few seasons. This means a non stellar name getting the managers gig. Hopefully it will be a guy who can secure a comfy 2nd, Europe and mibbies a shot at a cup. Take your pick, there are a few who could do it with the current budget.

The day we can afford a De Bore, let alone his budget is years away. I can and will accept this because we were staring down the business end of the shitt$r not so long ago. So, unless a billionaire Rangers fan looks out his cheque book sometime soon, it will be what it is until we all, fans, chairman, board and staff turn it around.

28 Feb 2017 16:26:31
Tommy Wright is the outstanding candidate. I'll be gutted if we don't get him in.

28 Feb 2017 17:56:10
Wright is a candidate but more of a risk than outstanding

28 Feb 2017 18:34:12
We're rooked. A big name doesn't come cheap and on that basis I think Wright is the man for us. Anyone who comes in will be a risk to an extent anyway.

28 Feb 2017 15:52:29
Hello all,
Just like to show you a post I did on yahoo sports on the day we lost the Scottish cup final.

Unfortunately I feel since we qualified to the top flight, the performance is a disgrace and to lose the Scottish cup 2 - 1 up with 10 minutes to go beggars belief.
WE WILL BE RELEGATED WITH THIS TYPE OF PERFORMANCE.

Mark had it easy when we were playing part timers to finally get promotion.
However I am sorry to say, I don't think (like O'Deila was for Timco) he is up to the job in this league.
Attack attack attack and leave the back door open every time is not working for us.

As for defending set pieces, WHAT A JOKE. carry on like this and we are truly phucked again this season.
Granted it is a new squad and needs to settle in, but is it already too late for us? .
Mark will listen to NO ONE and unless he does and changes his style of play "HE" will be changed.

28 Feb 2017 16:03:22
Nice white horse wooly .

28 Feb 2017 21:56:21
Wooly 100 per cent spot on can't defend and can't defend set pieces. All good team are built from the back. The current defence is simply not good enough. They are weak with no heart. Like the rest of the team they are a bunch of failures who lack fight ability and continue to shame the jersey they wear. Time to drop the duds who fail week on week

01 Mar 2017 18:02:10
Top of outgoing Transfers.
Kiernan
Waghorn
Sendaros

28 Feb 2017 15:45:20
Awrite Bears

Jist wondering what yer thoughts on Tim Sherwood for gers job is?

Personally like him, think he's a good man manager, hands on n brings a certain swagger to a team. Also think he could make do with what we've got for the time being, obviously would need to bring in a few signings but his type of management could get a reaction out of the likes of, O halloran, forrester, dodoo, senderos, Wilson etc

Also read he's not on a contract with Swindon as the director of football, so there would be no pay out or compensation.

Just wondering what yer thoughts were?

28 Feb 2017 16:48:16
The players you mention are not good enough mate any manager would struggle with them they have no fight and are poor players.

28 Feb 2017 18:13:20
Think Forrester has a lot to offer us but hasn't been given a run, I'd prefer senderos to be in that defence rather than kiernan but yer definitely right about nobody having any fight in them. Kenny millers the only one I'd say is playing for the jersey.

Any thoughts on Sherwood?

28 Feb 2017 21:55:06
Yes bear sherwood is another good shout, a liked the idea that somebody said earlier of lampard and redknapp

01 Mar 2017 18:01:34
Sherwood would be worse than davies. He's never a manager

28 Feb 2017 14:47:27
Matt Gilks hinting in the paper today that there was a lack of fight in the Ibrox dressing room and no real camaraderie. Cammy Bell saying in the press MW did not like confrontation or criticism in the dressing room. Its starting to leak out exactly what was going on.

28 Feb 2017 15:18:06
Looks like MW's man management skills were as poor as his recruitment policy.

28 Feb 2017 15:43:54
Alex Neil now 13/ 8 joint favourite for rangers job and pedro caxinha is another name to have entered the betting but it is still my firm belief that garry monk will be the new manager at the helm next season.

28 Feb 2017 16:09:45
Interesting points coming from two Second choice goalkeepers.

Only way they get their name in the paper is by making comments about the biggest club they'll ever play for.

28 Feb 2017 16:22:01
do you believe everything you read in the papers, all you ever hear or read about our club and players are pure negativity, only time i look at them is when they print something decent about us.

28 Feb 2017 22:01:05
Jamesreilly09, what makes you so sure that current leeds utd manager, garry monk, will become our new manager in the summer mate? Don't get me wrong, i really do hope you're correct and monk does become our new manager/ head coach! I truly rate monk highly, he's an excellent coach! I also really rate and like tim sherwood!

01 Mar 2017 13:13:43
Its a really bad day when Cammy "oops I've dropped it again" Bell is criticizing anyone!

28 Feb 2017 12:53:21
Not a rumour but if Pardew get the job I'm heading for the Kingston bridge

28 Feb 2017 14:34:30
I'll be heading to the bookies as I'm on at 10/ 1

28 Feb 2017 16:36:49
i think we should have appointed mcliesh by now just for the remainder of the season and then let him go.

we need money and lots of it as no matter who the manager is we need a better team.

i honestly think we have real quality in that team just now and if played right we could get second spot.
only areas i think we need better quality is the whole defence and one or two strikers.

i also know i will be slated for this but i think if played properly tav could be a really good player but need a manager that won't allow him to roam up the park if he can't get back.

cb's are all awfull and none of them are at spl level.

we need a striker or two as kenny can't as we have seen do everything by himself and waggy canny shoot

28 Feb 2017 16:55:39
It could be worse, Mark McGhee is out of work!

28 Feb 2017 16:25:14
you and pardew splitting the winnings, he likes a gamble as well.

28 Feb 2017 12:38:43
Hands up I thought King taking over the club would improve the squad, the way the club is run and transparency from the boardroom.
I now doubt that he's the man. OK financially we seem better off and he's went some way to stabilising us in this department. However the product on the park hasn't improved significantly and honesty and transparency seem to be non existent.
Unless I've missed it there has been next to nothing from the board in our search for a new manager.
I'm aware that things can't be rushed and if your in negotiation it has to be done in a confidential manner. But there has been no announcements about our future direction or time frame for appointing a new man.
In short I think the board are taking the supporters for granted again. The same supporters that stood by the club through the turmoil of the last few years. I really think if they don't get their fingers out there is going to be a fan backlash.
To cap it all two articles in the Sun, one from the caretaker saying the players are unsettled etc
Another from Matt Gilks saying when I was with Blackpool we had a dressing room of fighters and honest people. Inferring that wasn't the case at Ibrox.
The place is an absolute shambles and we've got a managing director and owner who say nothing.
Any thoughts fellow bears?

28 Feb 2017 13:52:40
Who is the owner?

28 Feb 2017 14:48:17
Sorry I meant King but my general point is in my opinion the most loyal fans in UK are being kept in the dark as per usual.

28 Feb 2017 15:06:14
What other clubs come out and tell the fans who the new manager is gona be till it's done? they are interviewing candidates for the posistion

28 Feb 2017 15:49:44
Deluded post! How much info do you need. cornflakes for breakfast, 2 sugars in his tea?

The statement he released said what their intentions were. not sure you can order a top manager from argos or get him delivered by amazon so you have to expect that some investigative work and negotiations will be done in private!

GEEZ

28 Feb 2017 16:23:31
Ross mate I think until we get rid of Ashley and all these court cases that come with it, there won't be anyone in there right mind will invest some money into us, as for the board just now they are probably doing about as best they can with loans and stuff and as for the team I agree we are a complete shambles all over the field and something needs to be done asap in that area, but until we are able to stop getting by on soft loans it does look like we could be like this for a few years yet unless we do get a sugar daddy which I just can't see happening

28 Feb 2017 16:29:22
Must disagree with you first of all regarding the team the manager is given a budget which was twice even three times the level of Aberdeen or Hearts but the manager squandered it on players who aren't up to it it's not the chairmans job to put a team on the park as for the DOF and managers job the board can't say anything till they have something concrete to say they are in negotiations with people for both jobs what do you want them to say be patent then judge.

I'm not happy with where we are but it's going to take time to fix the mess left by those crooks who were in charge also until we get rid of Ashley we will struggle so be patient let's see what happens.

28 Feb 2017 16:20:29
How can negotiations be both confidential and transparent? Tell me just one other business where the board would be expected to make all their dealings public, especially with various legal actions pending? What do people on here understand by 'transparent'? I'm no lover of King's methods but the board has to keep certain areas of business completely private, just like any other organisation. And as for quoting the Sun. just ruined your whole credibility.

28 Feb 2017 18:14:43
My post stated I understand the negotiations are confidential however I think the fans deserve an idea of the direction we're going in and the time frame involved. Some how this makes me deluded?
No wonder the board don't give us updates if u lot are a sample of our fans and misquote what's said.

28 Feb 2017 12:33:19
I'm sure because we have no money it's will be someone from the Spfl or someone who's out of work but for all the drivel that is posted on here I'm surprised Guss Hiddicks name hasn't been mentioned.

He would be my first choice. Won't happen as he wouldn't come to a club with no money and no ambition but at least a daft rumour I'm sure he's deserved that much!

28 Feb 2017 15:50:26
No point having a first choice if it ain't going to happen!

28 Feb 2017 09:43:07
Celtic made a statement of intent getting in Rodgers. Rangers need to do the same or else we will be further behind. Please no more Ferguson, McLeish, Davies talk. Big names will attract better players.

28 Feb 2017 11:14:27
Were playing on a different ball park for the next few years - you are kidding yourself if you really think or expect that we will be attracting a top 4 EPL manager anytime soon.

Time for "fans" to get real - Celtic are an irrelevance to us for a couple of years. we need stability, strong foundations and solid progres.

If we get it right we should be challenging seriously in 2 to 3 years but any big investment is unlikely to happen until the MA situation is sorted out.

28 Feb 2017 11:21:20
BR65,

Your spot on, this should have been in place 5 years ago

28 Feb 2017 16:50:28
Were does everyone get this '4 years behind celtic' talk from? if we don't win the league in the next 4 years, we'll be waiting 44 years, as if you don't win the league there's no revenue.

28 Feb 2017 09:25:16
Been a lot of names flying around for our manager/ coach role. I wanted to look at identifying the correct candidate in another way. Instead of look at the man -look at the desired attributes. Not definitive, but here are my thoughts . Please feel free to add/ delete where you think fit

Proven experience of managing teams in top flight football. Min 10 years
All coaching badges in place
Tactically astute
Track record of young player development
Experience of winning matches in Europe
Media savvy
Good man manager
Experience of using sports science
Experience of using performance statistics
Winning mentality
Knows the history of our club
Has previously worked with DoF.

28 Feb 2017 11:43:58
Your expectations are pretty high BarcaBear. While those qualities would be ideal, I can't think of anyone that fits your criteria. Would be better if you rank your criteria from most important to least important to give a better sense of what you deem an acceptable manager for us.

28 Feb 2017 14:48:47
Brendan rodgers didn't have at least 3 of them

28 Feb 2017 18:34:10
2 things i'd love to see happening. First, fellow bears stop buying the Daily Rebel. secondly if you subscribe to B T, tell em your switching to SKYif they don't get rid of that c&&t Chris Sutton.

28 Feb 2017 07:48:45
All this talk about major investors getting a return for their money is nonsense. All those super-rich owners of big clubs down south invest almost as a philanthropical thing, not expecting to get a return. Therein lies the difference. If King really did have £50 million he was prepared to spend he'd spend it. We need somebody like an Ashley (dare I say it) or McColl who are billionaires with money to burn. The owners of Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea are very, very, very rich indeed.

{Ed001's Note - you mean like Kroenke of Arsenal or the Glazers of Man Utd who make a significant amount of money from their investment? Or Mike Ashley, who also makes lots? About the only one who does as you suggest is the owner of Bournemouth. Not even the Man City owners do that, which is why they sold a significant chunk of the ownership vehicle for the group of clubs to a Chinese firm recently.}

28 Feb 2017 08:16:17
Edd. when in march is the court date with sports direct?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate sorry.}

28 Feb 2017 09:11:13
Ed.
Ashley is owed £129 million by Newcastle United and counting losses of £500k per week and will problaby never get it back. Abramovich has written of £1 billion in the last 10 years or so at Chelsea. Yes, some will make money but they are serious billionaires who essentially won't be harmed by losses of that size. In the real world, Rangers would need someone who is prepared to invest serious money and take a big risk. We can't compare the big six or seven EPL clubs with Rangers and Celtic or may other European teams.

{Ed001's Note - erm you really need to check up the true amounts, because that is what you could call creative accounting. He makes a lot of money off Newcastle, those loans pay interest, he also uses the stadium as a billboard for his other businesses, for free.

Abramovich has not written off £1bn, that is just a lie. Utter and complete lie. Try not spouting ignorant rubbish and actually doing some research.}

28 Feb 2017 10:21:06
Well said ED.

28 Feb 2017 10:58:45
abramovich never writes off anything. if he's spent a billion he's made a billion and a half. this guy knows how to make and handle money plus his board are pretty decent too.

chelsea's merchandise revenue is global and with matchday revenue and sponsorship in and around the ground is huge

they bought out the shirt deal by paying millions and got the 3rd biggest in football

rangers don't need a benefactor or people to throw money away in scottish football all we have to do is do it right.

28 Feb 2017 14:45:58
Chelsea owe Abramovich £1 billion. Newcastle make a profit each year but Ashley can't and doesn't take all of that profit out of the club. He also lost £1 billion last year when Sports Direct's shares plunged.

28 Feb 2017 15:19:21
Unless he sold those shares, he certainly didn't 'lose' £1bn. Paper loss only. £1bn wiped off the value.
