28 Dec 2017 21:32:14
Just seen Steven Caulker has been released. Would be a great addition if we were able to get him but I think he would prefer to join up with Brenda.

28 Dec 2017 21:47:39
I agree that he would be worth a punt. The guy has had his personal problems and lost his way a bit but only a few years ago he was in the England squad and sold for 8m by Spurs. He's still young and has a lot to prove. I personally like Cardoso and think he should get a chance before Bates. He's decent on the ball and was getting more used to the physicality of the Scottish game before Bowman smashed him.

28 Dec 2017 21:52:16
Agreed! I also like Cardoso and was thinking he was starting to get settled into the game before his injury. I have no idea why he never gets played.

28 Dec 2017 23:01:08
Agree about Cardoso. I can see a good player in there. But then Wilson has been playing well and really Alves must be played. I'd actually play the 3 of them on Saturday

29 Dec 2017 06:04:56
The problem with Cardoso is that he's a bit chicken-hearted trying to be brave. Twice I have watched him pump his fist after winning fairly ordinary tackles, which suggests that he saw this as some success he's not used to. When he is challenging, the summoning up of courage is almost visible in him. I'm not sure he'll ever get there. Caulker is a mountain and if he gets himself straightened out he's young enough to fight his way back to the very top. I'd take the gamble on him.

28 Dec 2017 18:29:46
If a team does want to try and buy Tavs, I would be looking for no less than 3m.

He's an Englishmen and all we see is utterly ridiculous price tags on any Englishmen that moves from and to English clubs.

Tav is a key member of our team and is joint second highest assists in the league (second only to Daniel Candieas), he's improved massively on last season, yes sometimes he is caught out but more often than not his defending is solid this season.

28 Dec 2017 18:44:39
Agree but we have a deeply flawed transfer policy. Look at what happened with McKay sold for penuts.

29 Dec 2017 00:01:31
McKay wanted to leave, can't you get that into your head? Plus he was rotten, giving us one decent game in ten. And to you that single transaction consitutes a 'deeply flawed transfer policy'? Some of you so-called fans need to get a grip, your negativity is so debilitating. Why do you even bother pretending to be fans?

29 Dec 2017 00:47:23
to be fair to chris his other post below was a positive one re: motherwell result. something he also got bashed for šŸ˜‚ you just can't win chris mate!

also dave king said himself at the AGM the mckay deal was a mistake. he doesn't own up too many!

28 Dec 2017 18:12:19
No one seems to be crediting Murty with beating motherwell 2-0 something Pedro failed to do. He beat Aberdeen home and away something warbs failed to do. Something could be on the cards for saturday because when everyone bets against us that's when the true greatness if our club shines through.

28 Dec 2017 18:31:09
RfcChris. too many selection boxes effects people in different ways.

28 Dec 2017 18:59:07
Nobody is crediting Murty because the football we are playing is absolutely HONKING. Iā€™ve never seen us so short on ideas while going forward so we just seem to go long!? I actually lost count of how many times we missed the midfield out last night. Yes 3 points is 3 points but take away the 2 games against the sheep where the performances where fantastic, we have been absolutely rotten under Murty. stole 3 points at Easter Road and were humped off Kilmarnock (score line flattered us) . If your happy with that and how itā€™s going then thatā€™s upto you, each to their own as you say but i fall on the other side, Iā€™m absolutely not happy.!

28 Dec 2017 18:31:09
Oh donā€™t worry chris there's no doubt something is on the cards for Saturday! What happened to the 7 games against the champs last season and this season when everyone bet against u? šŸ˜±šŸ˜±šŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆ

28 Dec 2017 20:41:51
Pedro did beat Motherwell at Fir park first league game of the season

28 Dec 2017 21:00:42
How can anyone disagree with my post? Itā€™s fact under Pedro Rangers beat Motherwell 2-1 at Fir park first game of the season

28 Dec 2017 21:27:47
I think that we can step up and give them a game, the mankies will not sit everyone behind the ball like other teams do, we need to press them and also defend as a team . Close every ball down and I actually think Windass could cause their defence/ keeper problems and we seem to play better against so called better opponents. Will need a massive effort off everyone . but treat it as a one off. Everyone says we have no chance . no pressure then . No Surrender!

28 Dec 2017 23:17:20
I remember watching Walter Smiths teams play. We were not the greatest team to watch but we were effective and won. It was all about the 3 points. Murty must be following the same blueprint.

None of these players were signed by murty but he has galvanised them and got them sprinting about working hard off the ball. He is inexperienced and we might lose a few this season but let him get a few players in january let him bring through the youth. We have no devine right to win this league. As fans we need to be patient and build.

29 Dec 2017 07:38:49
Totally with you on this one RfcChris! Some of our supporters need to get it into their heads, that we must find ways of winning football games, first and foremost! Winning is paramount and winning with style will come later! Give graeme murty a break and back the guy and the team until the end of the season! RfcChris is correct mentioning walter smith and his style of football, but yes he won games! Not many complained when sir walter smith and rangers were winning everything then! Short memories these characters!

28 Dec 2017 16:19:38
Think martin Boyle would b a good signing. he's quick, can beat a man and whip in a good cross. type of player we don't have.

28 Dec 2017 17:21:00
agree 100% caw think boyle wld be a gr8 signing for us.

solid player very quick always shows up well in big games we shd be looking at proven players like him rather than random 18yr olds from lower leagues down south or some ridiculous big money foreign signings

28 Dec 2017 18:06:57
Proven? He is proven as an ok player at spl level which is somewhere between English league 1 and 2 we need better than that we need good foreign players and international level players.

28 Dec 2017 20:24:18
Martin Boyle? He's like o Halloran, fast and that's about it. Must be looking at a better quality of player than that

28 Dec 2017 20:36:42
He's better than o'halloran. he's skillful and can cross a ball.

28 Dec 2017 20:52:52
cawrfc, imho MOH isn't a natural winger anyway mate! I would like rangers to play MOH 1 in from the wide area!

28 Dec 2017 21:03:38
Oā€™Halloran deserves another chance playing in a similar position he plays at St Johnstone. He needs a run of games and a bit of confidence and I think he could do a job for us

28 Dec 2017 21:31:04
Wish he could play against that mankies defence on Saturday . his pace would cause them problems and stop them dictating play from the back.

28 Dec 2017 21:47:12
The difference between Martin Boyle and oHalloran is only one of them is from Dunbar šŸ˜€

29 Dec 2017 00:02:48
Proven? Where? How many caps does he have again? How many international squads has he even been in? Is this the kind of player some of our fans now aspire to? I really despair.

29 Dec 2017 00:08:22
Sometimes english players just don't do it in spfl, few scottish players is what we need i rekon

29 Dec 2017 09:34:47
I personally don't care where we get our players as long as they do a job. To many people want top class international players but don't want to admit to themselves that we aren't exactly a hotbed for talent right now. Also plus the little thing that we don't have money to be buying "international players"

28 Dec 2017 14:41:39
Had a decent wee debate around Niko during/ after game and it was split on if he should start on Sat? His vision and passing is like no others in the team, however, he has zero pace and if game is played at a decent tempo he's a man down. Do we have enough energy in team to cover him? Thoughts guys? What XI should Murty start with and can we play a high pressing in their faces game when Alves likes to sit so deep?
Team I'd go with:
Fod
Tav Wilson Alves John
McCrorie
Candias Holt Barjonas Windass
Morelos.

28 Dec 2017 16:00:31
Well the game will be played at more than a decent tempo because that's the way they play. i'd prob start him because weā€™re down to the bare bones but if we had a fully fit squad then not a chance he would start

28 Dec 2017 16:02:06
hoping to see mccrorie get wired right into lego muncher. sick of him swaggering about like he is iniesta

28 Dec 2017 16:27:20
Iā€™d go with that team Scotty but go 4-1-3-2 with windass up top with Morelos

28 Dec 2017 16:48:38
My team would be fod tav Wilson alves john - mccrorie- jack holt atakayi hardy morelos ano jack might not be fit so if not I'd put bates at the back to make a back 3 and ano it would be atakayi's debut but Walter gave young guys debuts in big games so why not play a wild card nothing to lose in this it's a free swing let's take it

28 Dec 2017 17:53:21
McRorie loves a 50/ 50 and one against. Brown will surely wet his appatite

28 Dec 2017 18:27:17
One worry about Jack playing on Saturday (of course I realise that he is probably unfit) is that he could get a red card, provoked by you-know-who

28 Dec 2017 18:36:02
I'd go

Foderingham

Bates Alves Wilson

Taviener McCrorie Barjonas/ Jack John

Niko

Morelos Windass

28 Dec 2017 20:44:27
Jocky

Bates? You have to be joking. Did you miss the Kilmarnock game? Boyd looked like a Ā£10m striker against that clown

28 Dec 2017 20:55:54
Brian G, you're truly needing to get a grip mate! I don't think bates is the answer for us longterm, but common calling the young centre half a clown, isn't called for! Have a word with yourself!

28 Dec 2017 21:04:34
Ok supercooper he is a poor player not good enough for the team

28 Dec 2017 23:54:07
Thought Nico did well for 60 mins last night and hiis class and eye for a pass was good. Not sure about Saturday though as we need it to be a battle all over the pitch. Think we should play 3 at back, flood the midfield and battle. Assuming Jack not available my team would be:

Fod
Bates, Alves, Wilson,
Tav, McCorie, John
Candelas, Holt, Barjonas
Morelas

28 Dec 2017 23:59:37
Team i'd play on Sat:

Fod

A. Wilson Alves D. Wilson

Cardoso

Tav Windass Holt McRorie Candeias

Herrera

Subs - Hardie John Wallace Morelos Barjonas Bates

29 Dec 2017 09:21:49
RFC111

Herrera? What on earth has he done to merit at start in front of Morelos?

30 Dec 2017 00:10:51
Arthur D,

I know where you are from but I think Herrera's first touch is a lot better than Morelos', he holds the ball up better, is better in the air and maybe - just maybe for this game he would score half of the chances that Morelos has missed recently. AND I think Morelos would be in danger of getting sent off if things are not going our way!

28 Dec 2017 13:00:54
Anybody have any knowledge on what has happened with Liam Burt. He looked a real talent when he burst in the scene and played in the first team at age 17. Have heard nothing this season and with the first team squad so short right now would have expected him to get an opportunity.

28 Dec 2017 13:39:23
Knee injury

28 Dec 2017 13:41:25
He has been out with a long term injury

28 Dec 2017 13:42:41
He seems to have slipped off the radar. Warburton rated him. There are one or two mysteries and unanswered questions around the club and Rossiter is right up there. We know and saw Jack's and Dorrans' injuries. Caught on camera. What of Rossiter's knee injury? Didn't happen in a televised match. He's basically been injured since we signed him and Warburton, Perdro and now Murty have never come out and fully explained the story.

28 Dec 2017 13:50:07
Does the training ground have a plastic pitch? If so, that might explain such injuries?

28 Dec 2017 14:02:51
Did he not get injured playing for Scotland and I think heā€™s started training again

28 Dec 2017 14:33:05
He's been injured for a while mate.

28 Dec 2017 20:06:00
He is an English U 21 International and is only playing in Scotland because he is injury prone. If you look at the boys record he can, t stay fit long enough to progress to the player he should have been for Liverpool. Hopefully his luck will change

28 Dec 2017 12:44:51
Its safe to say this is appauling. Could be anything at the weekend. 1 thing for sure rangers won't score. There is litteraly nothing in that side. No pace no skill no fight no clue. can't pass cross run into space. Its painful to watch.

28 Dec 2017 14:12:48
I know we can look flat and lacking in creativity but we are, by some distance, the league's second top goal scorers.
So to say we categorically will not score is being a little overly defeatist.

28 Dec 2017 14:52:40
We have scored 6 goals less than Celtic but conceded 15 more after the same amount of games. Discuss.

28 Dec 2017 20:47:08
Unfortunately I have to agree I just canā€™t see how we could even get 1 point let alone 3. Our defense is weak, midfield too lightweight and our forward players donā€™t look like troubling them. Could be a long afternoon for us and I fear the worst

28 Dec 2017 12:40:59
A Rangers Poll was requested about which Sugar Daddy Rangers supporters might like.

Rangers Sugar Daddy Poll

28 Dec 2017 13:10:36

this is the kind of thing that leaves us wide open to ridicule from the great unwashed who frequent this page.

28 Dec 2017 23:56:00
Yip, is it any wonder we get laughed at. You's really do bring it on yourselfs.

28 Dec 2017 12:14:28
From last night.
1st half was a battle, Motherwell work really hard high pressing, which is why the we struggled to get up the pitch at times. Motherwell couldn't keep that up and were puffed out 2nd half. that's when Rangers got out and played and got our goals, could have got a couple more. Motherwell could have got a goal in the game but overall we deserved the win.

Krancjar with his limited pace had his best game for us I've seen so far. He made some good tackles believe it or not and great passes. Our wing play was limited and we seemed to play through the middle mostly. Did Murty get the tactics right.
Barjonas was good. The 2 up front put in a good shift but I felt we needed a tricky smaller player for this type of game, some one with a 5 yard lighting burst of pace, a trick and a finish, Romario wouldn't go a miss.

For Celtic, I don't think we can afford to let them press us and we sit deep with 10 behind the ball, they will score as every other team has showed we can't do that and not concede. We have to go toe to toe, be brave, organised as a 10 man unit. It will take effort, determination, concentration like the players haven't used yet to get a result, if they do, they can call themselves Rangers players, for now.
On anther note Motherwell should be sanctioned along with the refs for endangering players again, another game with plenty of elbows and studs, shocking.

28 Dec 2017 15:27:13
TJBB I am getting especially sick of Cedric Kipre. I called him a thug on here before and reckon he's capable of really endangering an opponent's career one day. The sooner he leaves Scotland the better.

28 Dec 2017 08:41:12
Before i make my point here, i would firstly like to say, that i didn't want warburton to resign danny wilson for rangers, almost 3 years ago now! Not because i didn't rate wilson as a centre half, especially when he was starting out as a young 17 year old for us, but because when he went to liverpool and then back to hearts, i actually thought wilson was going back the way! Even in his 2nd spell for us i didn't think he was improving any, up until lately! I think since he came back in the rangers starting 11,from injury, a few months ago now, i see a big improvement in wilson and shades of how good we probably all thought he would be, are coming to the fore again imo! At the moment danny wilson is playing superbly well for rangers and he's without doubt, one of the first names down on the team sheet, at the moment! I think he's arguably, along with ryan jack, probably the next glasgow rangers captain! He's out of contract in the summer but i now really do think, we should be offering wilson a new 3 year contract, before some other club comes in to sign him, on pre-contract, in january! He represents terrific value as he's still only 26 years old! Keep the good performances up, danny wilson! What do my fellow bears think regarding this?

28 Dec 2017 09:10:13
Agree Super. He splits opinion. The guy in front of me only sees when he makes mistakes, which he does at times but he is easily one of our best players and he has one us a few points now.

28 Dec 2017 09:31:44
Wilson is far too slow and is often found out against Celtic. Letā€™s see how he does Saturday before you heap praise on him. Remember supercooper your the man who thought Warburton was building something special at the club and have also heaped praise on Holt a player clearly not good enough for Rangers

28 Dec 2017 10:16:09
Mind you Brian, if the club had given Warburton 10 million in sure we would have a better team and we would be a lot further forward as a club than we are now.

28 Dec 2017 10:46:26
Brian, so your saying if Wilson doesnā€™t play well on Saturday nobody can heap praise on him for his form of late? I agree with Super, I think heā€™s been very good since heā€™s came back into the squad and hopefully that continues.

28 Dec 2017 10:49:40
Like the Tav posts, he's no way the worst and plays well with Bruno.

We'll see on Saturday if improvement made.

28 Dec 2017 11:14:26
eh wilson was at fault for the goals against Killie Dembele will have a field day with him to slow if they plat griffs

28 Dec 2017 11:35:02
Wilson's always been a good player. Times where fitness or carrying an injury hampered him but fact is that a centre back makes a mistake and this page is over him like a rash with criticism. The same type of mistake further up the pitch from the likes of Miller never mentioned.

28 Dec 2017 12:31:51
Brian read Dunbar blue and Lee mcf's posts mate! I agree wholeheartedly with both of these guys and yes i did back warburton like i back every glasgow rangers manager! Results and not me backing them or not determines how any rangers manager does! Try and bear that in mind brian!

28 Dec 2017 13:09:38
Wilson has played well recently and looks to have responded positively to opportunity created by departure of Pedro. Good leader and technically good footballer although not the fastest. Certainly worth another contract.

28 Dec 2017 14:05:45
Our best centre half pairing by far just now, is bruno alves and danny wilson! For the future going forward our potentially great centre half pairing should be, ross mccrorie and danny wilson! Of course that's when big bruno calls it a day!

28 Dec 2017 18:02:40
Supercooper

Think you went a bit more than just back the woeful Warburton and I recall you handing out quite a lot of abuse to others who could see how poor he was. Also seem to remember a quote from you about putting up a statue for Frank McPahrlandšŸ˜šŸ˜

28 Dec 2017 18:04:56
Danny Wilson isnā€™t the answer he is very slow and loses his man too easily. You only have to look at the Kilmarnock shambles on Saturday to see this. Also it was his mistake in the first minute last night that nearly cost us a goal. Motherwell created very few opportunities and itā€™s much easier to play against a Motherwell side without Moult and Cadden

28 Dec 2017 18:21:22
with some of your posts brian g, there's no chance of a statue of you going up any time soon! that's for sure my friend!

28 Dec 2017 18:45:53
I see Brian that your one of those fans who only see the bad in a player. Danny Wilson was easily MOTM last night yet you pick up on one mistake in the first minute.!? You also say the Kilmarnock shambles, correct me if Iā€™m wrong but Iā€™m pretty sure he wasnā€™t playing at the back by himself!? I bet you werenā€™t saying nothing when we beat Aberdeen home and away, a game where Wilson scored a great header, though you probably picked up on the fact it took him too long to tie his boot laces or something.! yes I agree heā€™s has flaws but name one player who doesnā€™t!?

28 Dec 2017 20:50:53
Supercooper

About the same chance as a statue of you going up

28 Dec 2017 20:56:57
Lee_McF

No I just see him for the average player he is and donā€™t get carried away because he played against a poor Motherwell side without their 2 best players one of which tore us to ribbons in the semi final. The trouble with people on here is that they are that desperate for some sort of success they try to make heroes out of average players. Wilson is slow and isnā€™t the sort of player needed if we are ever going to try and challenge Celtic. However if your happy to be miles behind them fighting for 2nd place with Aberdeen and Hibs then maybe Wilson is your man. Some of us want better

28 Dec 2017 21:45:32
Brian. Iā€™m not disagreeing with you, Wilson is an average player but you canā€™t say that heā€™s not playing well just now. You can only p**s with the c**k youā€™ve got and right now heā€™s our best CB along with Alves. Nobody is making Wilson a hero, but cut the guy some slack for some decent form. We wonā€™t be challenging Celtic with half the squad weā€™ve got or current manager, but thatā€™s for another day/ post.!

28 Dec 2017 22:06:19
Lee

Looks like the club arenā€™t convinced about him either as why hasnā€™t been offered a new contract with only 6 months of his current contract remaining

28 Dec 2017 22:11:22
Now now, don't be petty brian g!

28 Dec 2017 23:51:16
Wilson is to inconsistent for me, for every 2 good games he has 2 bad games. i agree that him and Alves are the best pairing but let's be honest that's nothing to shout about with this side

29 Dec 2017 04:05:40
I partly agree with this. He is a first eleven player, so is clearly rated by our current manager.
For that reason I'd extend his contract by only twelve months. Evaluate his performances this time next year and consider another contract, maybe even a longer contract if his performances are still good and a first eleven player.

We have given out too many long contacts to players over recent years and we need to be more prudent with this. Players like Halliday were given three year contacts, when we should be looking at giving long contracts to players with potential who may seek a move away. The only players I would want on contacts of three years or longer are Morelos, Tav and maybe Fod. Players like Jack and McRorie may also be worth long contacts but I can't see anyone coming in for them where they'd rather be playing football, at the moment. We have to watch McRorie closely to see how he develops then he might even be worth a five year contract if he becomes EPL quality.

29 Dec 2017 04:57:55
We should stop giving out such long contracts to every squad member.
Declan John should have been two and a half years, at most.

I agree Wilson should probably be signed up on a new contract. But I'd give him a one year extension. We then revisit it this time next year and see if we extend another year; don't offer an extension; or extend it for 2 or 3 years if he consistently proves to be a starter every game.

We have too easily given out long contracts to those who shouldn't have got them, i. e. Halliday being given three years. Then we are left with squad members not wanted, and thus restricting our funds for recruitment.

Only players I'd consider for contracts of three or more years are Morelos, Tav, and maybe Fod. These players would probably consider leaving if there was interest down south (championship) .
I'd also consider for Jack and McRorie, but I can't see them wanting to leave us for potential suitors. The McRorie situation mead change if he continues to improve and reaches potential EPL standard. If that happens even consider five and six year contacts. I'd do the same with any player who reaches EPL standard, i. e. potentially Morelos.

Basically, if:
-EPL standard contract length of 5+ years, and bit to let run down to below 2 years.
-Eng Championship (top half of table) standard 2-3 years (less for those who have an affinity with us as they are less likely to leave), and not to run down below 1 year
-Everyone else maximum 2 years and prove your worth for a renewal.
