Fellow Bears

Whats peoples opinion on the naming rights of ibrox? Should we sell the name for the cash or is that a no go? And if we were going to sell how much money would you be looking for and for how many years?

Rossw01, I think the naming rights should be sold, if there is a buyer. Biggest problem that any investor would have is the stability of our finances. As I see it, there is every chance our future could be short term unless stability returns. Easier said than done given the great unknown that is our current funding. Personally I would sell the assets with a lease back clause built in because this would release enough funds to put the club back on it's
feet. Only problem would be having a man at the top able to make the radical changes essential to take us onward and upwards.

Wouldn't be a problem for me as it will always be Ibrox ,why not include Ibrox in the name i.e THE . IBROX STADIUM put sponsors name in blank space problem solved .

@2, of the same opinion as yourself mate Ibrox will always be Ibrox in mine and many others eyes and should Ibrox be included in the renaming all the better, I for my sins also go and watch Southampton they play in a new stadium but we still refer to it as the dell not St Marys, wonder what fellow Bears would think if it were Mike Ashley and would we welcome him as a major player if he cashed in his chips at Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted earlier on this it will always be Ibrox to the fans, the only people that will use it is possibly the commentators in there intro, basically that's the reason company's put there name to stadiums, I said before Livingstons had a few stadium names but everybody still calls it Almondvale. The naming will be for a time period if it doesn't work out we won't do it again take the cash. The Sports Direct Stadium Ibrox sound ok anyway

Yeah totally agree, get it sold, get the money in, great way of making money and not having to pay it back, let's get serious here, who cares what it's called, it's still Glasgow rangers playing at Ibrox in goven; end of story, it's great that we have fans up there fighting in all corners, and I take my hat off to them, a love rangers through & through, but there's some fans wiling to do anything for the club, but calm down when it comes to renaming the stadium! Makes no difference lads

I think there could be a problem with the naming rights or it would have been done by know maybe the fact its a listed build cause if it could have been done the cowboys would not hesitate in doing so cause remember the cowboys are skint

The points most people are making above make it a much less attractive prospect for potential bidders for naming rights. For example, if Mike Ashley spent £10m (figure from the top of my head) to call the stadium The Sports Direct Arena, he wouldn't be best pleased when all the fans, the journos, the radio and TV kept referring to it as Ibrox anyway. These deals are much sweeter if it is a new stadium involved. Existing stadia tend to be well known by their existing names. Case in point, The Etihad Stadium (which was new) is regularly referred to as "Eastlands" and even The City of Manchester Stadium.

Still reckon we'll be saved, don't ask me how or by whom, I know nothing about the financial side of things, but I don't see everyone standing back and not seriously trying something when it comes to the point of no return, yes I know we're there already, just have a hunch that all may not be lost.

I believe the only way to help take our game forward is bring back the 3 foreigner ruling, I remember this ruling in the 80s. It forces teams to bring through and play young home grown players.

I could be wrong but does the German League not currently have a similar ruling capping number of foreign players in match day squad?

That rule was in the 90s pal a remeber it we had hately n gordon n huistra n all that at the time plus when gazza n laudrup came in it was in place aswell its a stupid law nobody liked itl never catch on agaiin no chance there's to much money in foreign footballers

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I believe that ticket pricing needs to be addressed especially for the the standard being served up on a weekly basis, I dread to think what it would cost for a fella to take a couple of kids every other week, would it not be better to reduce gate prices and get more bums on seats, the EPL is already pricing working class families out of the game, which is an awful shame and Bare in mind you can get an adult season ticket for Bayern Munich for £110.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would make it 5 foreigners & have at lest two under 21s in the first eleven.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ur 100% right father with two kids count travel food tickets etc its abig chunk of any working mans wages and there is no doubt that is one of the problems
