Can't believe the comments abt tav and Wallace the way we play with both full backs bombing on we are left short at the back and will concede goals granted there not the best defenders in the world but both have been outstanding and am torn between both for player of the year but think tav shades it imo?

27 Mar 2016 23:36:20
Dazza73

No one is arguing about Tavenier going forward however he is really poor defensively and this will be exploited next season. He won't find it as easy bombing forward next season and he will come up against better players. Say what u like about that lot but they do have done very quick wingers.

28 Mar 2016 00:04:43
If we had a top quality defensive midfield player, (and it is clear that Warburton has been targeting such a player) , then we would not be losing the goals that we lose.

Many of the goals would be stopped long before the ball gets into our penalty box.

Both Tavernier and Wallace will cause considerable threat to SPL defences next season.

28 Mar 2016 01:10:09
biffo you said the full backs bombing forward teams in the premier taking advantage. disagree with that because it hasn't been the case when we played premier opposition. they learnt their lesson from the league cup and i think you'll find the stats back me up. we have spent little money to put this team together watching nice football 6 points from winning the title. to go and pull the class of player some are talking about season ticket would have to go up to that of either chelsea or arsenal. we had a team of spl class players last year and we all know how that ended. let our manager do his job from the very first interview he's outlined what he wanted to achieve and he promised nothing. judge him at the end of season. think a lot of the comments on here are from people playing team manager on the ps4 ridiculous.

28 Mar 2016 08:12:42
Bigbobby

We haven't played the top teams in the premier league though it's one thing playing Dundee and Kilmarnock but another playing Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts. I'm sure you and all Rangers fans won't be measuring ourselves against the Dundee's and Kilmarnock's next season but the other 3 I mentioned.

28 Mar 2016 08:44:35
When you play with attacking full back and a cdm when the full backs get forward as much as ours the cdm should be in the hole between the centre backs and the full backs have to get back as fast as they get forward I think that we get forward more than we have to get back this will change next year I do think that we have grown complacent with the standard of opposition we have faced plus tav and Wallace have been outstanding getting forward that is why there has been no need to change them at the beginning of the season if someone said our full backs would score so many goals you would take it let's face it this is the best football we have played since wee dick but unlike then we haven't spent millions and the gaffer brought in guys we had never heard of the man knows what he is doing he will address it when we step up to me he is one of the best.

28 Mar 2016 10:23:39
Tom42, if we had 2 better cb's we wouldn't be losing the goals that we have.

28 Mar 2016 11:51:22
Tav and Wallace have been two of our best players all season. No chance should either be replaced.
We need a good Defensive Midfielder as well as at least 1 experienced Center Half.

Maybe would make sense to look for a Full Back a cover for either Wallace or Tav, Ideally someone comfortable playing on either side, similarly to what Whittaker did when at rangers.

28 Mar 2016 12:23:30
No but Hibs beat both Aberdeen and Hearts in the cups. Would you say Hibs were a better side than us? The top flight sides, including Celtic, are very beatable despite people on this site talking them up as if they are some holy grail to be striven for.

28 Mar 2016 12:56:50
Even the manager has said we need 5-6 signings of real quality to challenge next season. Don't really understand the fans who think the current team is good enough for the next challenge.

I'm quite concerned about upcoming old firm game. The current Celtic team is beatable as many posters have pointed out and if we play a great game we have a shout. However if they play a great game they could knock four or five past our woeful defence.

28 Mar 2016 13:49:10
Hope you're well luigi.

28 Mar 2016 14:45:09
I think the OF game could go either way. You can't turn form on and off like a tap. We've been playing well and Celtic haven't. Celtic tend not to do well against sides who have a go at them, (Molde, Legia, Aberdeen) and I think they have the proverbial' glass jaw' defensively. That said to lose 6 goals in 2 games against Falkirk and QOS is not good either. Could be a high scoring game. Let's hope we score one more than them!

28 Mar 2016 16:21:16
Thanks coldo, on the long road to recovery now.

28 Mar 2016 19:54:05
Seeker

Hibs also lost to Dumbarton twice, Raith Rovers and QoS so by your reckoning they must be better than Aberdeen and Hearts.

28 Mar 2016 20:30:00
Fair point Biffo. The wheels have well and truly come off their bogey. To be fair they were on a good run earlier in the season during which they beat us, Aberdeen and latterly Hearts. It's been that kind of season. One thing I am confident of is that, especially with 4/ 5 new signings as is being reported, we will be challenging for the title next season.

28 Mar 2016 23:44:51
St Johnstone currently sit 4th after 31 games and 43 points now as a Rangers fan i expect that we will pick up far more than this i can see us fighting for 2nd place next season with Aberdeen Hearts and dare i say it Hibernian once they are up the important thing to next seasons campaign is to start positively and build on those results ANYTHING UNDER 3RD PLACE NEXT SEASON WILL BE SEEN AS FAILURE.

28 Mar 2016 14:04:53
You are correct Luigi,
Some people don't understand the difference in quality, sellk will target both fb, and you can be sure they will have the city boy Roberts getting in behind them, with commons pulling the strings, boron bullying all around him and griff in the box, even boyata will be a danger at set pieces,
I can sense the likes of seeker coming on declaring how good we are and how bad they are, I hope he, s right, , but I'm very concerned the game could be over by h/ t, I pray warbs has a plan
Tommy.

27 Mar 2016 13:11:19
Am I correct in assuming that most 'gers fans would love to see mikel arteta coming back to rangers to finish his career in our defensive midfield holding role with a coaching job thrown in for good measure, I think that position would be tailor made for the spaniard.

27 Mar 2016 23:06:56
Would do a job, doubt it would happen tho. Unless he told you different?

27 Mar 2016 23:37:01
Can't see it he would have to taken a massive pay cut to play for us.

28 Mar 2016 09:16:02
Guys been touted by the english press to work with Guardiola at City.

28 Mar 2016 12:25:17
Mikel was a great player but really, do we need somebody full time in the treatment room?

28 Mar 2016 13:23:41
I agree TOM and that's why I didn't understand why Ball got subbed on Saturday.

28 Mar 2016 15:47:18
No ure wrong to assume, you know what assume did, , it made an ass out of u and me?
Why would we want a guy who, s finished. ? Or is it going round ibrox?

28 Mar 2016 11:40:53
wages would be drawback but from what u see his legs have gone besides its young players we want.

27 Mar 2016 21:36:40
Cee did u seriously write wallace is as bad as tav a can't take this site serious with those kinda comments what a joke that is both have been outstanding for us tav scored vital goals aswel did yous guys watch the last 3 seasons with foster mosni cribari smith faure perry at the back i for one am delighted with our squad and enjoy watching us everyweek.

27 Mar 2016 22:22:10
Agree that tav should not be sold, that is harsh. He looks shattered to be honest. Need experienced cb that will lead the line and take control. Wilson and kiernan are 3 quarters through the season and have had some really good games but to be honest they just haven't done enough overall.

27 Mar 2016 22:21:53
I agree both Wallace and Tav have been brilliant and for Tav to play the number of games he has, with the amount of running our players do every week, incredible he is not on his knees never mind anything else! I don't know the stats but has he not played every game and probably ran 10km every week? Take a bow son.

28 Mar 2016 01:18:42
cannon warburton has commented on this saying 14km most weeks which is english premiership stats not saying there that class just saying.

28 Mar 2016 15:50:28
Shattered? Are u serious. ? I work 12 hours a day, and suffer from serious illness, but I'm not quite shattered, and I'm twice his age without half his lifestyle, and i can still manage the garden, and the pub, shattered, jeezo
Tommy.

27 Mar 2016 18:35:42
Bbc sport say we need to win the next 2 games to clinch the title. As far as I am aware we only need to win 1. We are 14 points clear and Falkirk have 15 points to play for so if we win 1 that's it not 2. Any1 clarify this for me, cheers.

27 Mar 2016 19:12:43
It's because Hibs have games in hand.

27 Mar 2016 19:43:47
If we beat Raith and St Mirren beat Hibs, we win.

27 Mar 2016 20:46:39
Hibs are 20 behind with 1 game in hand over us but 2 over Falkirk. If they win both they will be level with Falkirk 14 behind us, so we do only need to win 1.

27 Mar 2016 20:51:18
Hibs have 2 games in hand over us.

27 Mar 2016 20:52:45
I misread the table, hibs have 2 in hand over is and 3 over Falkirk my bad.

27 Mar 2016 11:28:14
Good morning lads n girls, listen, yesterday's 4-3 win against QOS was a great result regardless of conceding 3 goals at home, there's to much being made out of that, only 1 of the goals conceded was poor, and that was the second 1, the other 2 where a pen and a decent try at goal from long distance that ended up in the back of the net, it's getting to that time of year now, the leagues over, we've got a cup final to look forward to, plus the old firm game, a few of the boys where away on international duty, the weather was terrible, tail end of the year, we where up 4-1, we where never going to get bet, great win, let's look forward to ending the year on a high, 1 trophies already in the bag, let's get another, and let the old firm take care of itself, what a turn around the last year has been, brilliant football to watch, plenty of goals scored, plenty of youth players shinning, plenty of young players we wouldn't have even looked at back in the day, coming on board and showing us and other players that have worn the jersey, what it means and feels like to play with the O'mighty Glasgow Rangers, and long may it continue, MW and DW and also DK have done a fantastic job for our club that we all know and love and trust, so thanks for the turn around in every department.

27 Mar 2016 11:46:50
Guys. got my tickets for alloa game on 23rd april. assuming we tie up title next week. am i rite in assuming we will lift trophy at ibrox against alloa.

27 Mar 2016 14:14:34
couldnt agree more colin, good positive post. so looking forward to the summer regardless of the scottish cup outcome . the excitement of who will come in, the anticipation of the famous rangers playing teams off the park with non stop attacking football, newspaper reporters eating their own words the red faces from many in the sfa and premier club directors managers and players oh yes we are coming back its so good to be a ger!

27 Mar 2016 14:20:54
one more thing fellow bears if you disagree with comments made please come on and say why? colin above has made a very good statement and has 2 people who disagree? tell us why guys?

27 Mar 2016 15:39:24
Just bought my tickets for Alloa game also. that's all but one home game I have been to this season, should have bought a season ticket but I thought I'd still be working away from home. do we defo get the trophy after the Alloa game because I did hear we might have to wait till last game of season away to st mirren.

27 Mar 2016 19:18:33
Great post Colin. The other thing to look forward to is Dundee United playing in the Championship next season!

27 Mar 2016 19:57:16
Some fans might think it ia good post, but in my opinion, it is blinkered. Yes, we play a style of football that is good to watch, but it is there to be punished, as second rate teams have proved in recent weeks.
As I said recently, Celtic could score for fun against us, and I don't rate them as a decent team.
If you want to compare things to last year, fine, but surely it is time to raise the crossbar.
Yes MW and DW have put together a decent team, with limited resources, to get promotion, but let's just keep our feet on the ground.

27 Mar 2016 20:15:59
Brian can I ask why the sfa or premier league directors, managers or players would be red faced about rangers being promoted to the spl? I would imagine the majority of these people knew the rangers being in the spl was inevitable from the minute you were admitted to the third division and would even go as far as saying they were looking forward to it, with the crowds and money you will bring them . Also as for the journalists eating there words, since Warburton took over the papers have given you nothing but praise and I would think most of them can't wait for you to be promoted, so they can sell a few more copies.

27 Mar 2016 20:16:59
Well said billyb, great football but we are being exposed by lesser teams far too easily and very often.

27 Mar 2016 20:54:36
Colin

The first goal was poor defending as Wallace got caught on the wrong side of the QoS player and fouled him needlessly. As for the 3rd who was supposed to be picking the player up? One of the Rangers players (can't remember who) dived into a tackle and their player turned him and shot.

27 Mar 2016 21:23:56
all the posters on this thread are forgetting this Rangers team has only been together 8 months and was put together very quickly. personally i think a very good holding midfield is a must also the amount of possession and the lead we have had in the last two games the teams foot came off the peddle and players switching off. Stats seem to suggest against the likes of dundee the better teams. we had the ball 52 or 54% this has meant team needed to work harder. which helped the team keep switched on defensively. we won't be doing a hearts win the championship then a wholesale clear out and i don't believe it necessary. but who on here wouldn't take winning every game next year 4-3 winning the premiership. put you can't please all the people we all need to remember where we are financially.

27 Mar 2016 21:38:40
Biffo316, a hope you play football mate or you know the game inside out, every single goal or obviously penalty is some what poor defending, we'd b here all day every day talking about poor defending, but if u live in the real world like we all do pal, I said the first goal was a pen, the second goal was poor defending, and the 3rd goal was a shot from distance that ended up in the back of the net, I typed what I typed, because what I said was there for all to c in black and white, it's obvious poor defending leads to a pen Hahahahahahaha c'mon mate cheer up, if your a bear, u should b happier than what your letting on here mate.

27 Mar 2016 22:28:58
Colin, you talk as if you play a bit of football, so you will know it is all about levels.
More years ago than I care to remember, I played at a good level, but after various excuses I settled for a number of years in Junior football. Then you realise what finding your level means.
My opinion about our current team is that are good at the level where they play, whether they can move a step up is dubious, but if the manager supports them, where required, who knows?
To summarise ------ understand your level.

27 Mar 2016 13:06:56
Yes laudrup22, we will be presented with the championship trophy after the alloa game on the 23rd of april, I'm also pleased its now a 12.30pm kick-off, ie. get to the game which will be a carnival, party atmosphere and get back home with the mates for a good celebration drink about us getting back to the big time, happy days again fellow bears!

27 Mar 2016 23:41:16
Colin

Might have known you would put in the words of your a bear! I was a critic of Ally even before admin and I got all the Timmy slurs look how that turned out. I tell it how I see it but it seems to many people on this site can't take any criticism about the team.

28 Mar 2016 00:40:52
Cheers warburton the fithtenth. should be a high scoring game for us. some silverware to.

27 Mar 2016 09:53:34
HELP!

Has the date of the Dumbarton game been changed from the Saturday?

27 Mar 2016 10:09:01
Yes its now on a tues night.

27 Mar 2016 11:13:49
Yeah Tuesday the 5th.

27 mar 2016 17:45:11
thanks guys.

27 Mar 2016 03:30:37
You know what my first post but please cast your mind back 12 months and beyond! What a difference and see pleasure this year. My trust is in mwb.

27 Mar 2016 10:06:03
Spot on remember how we felt after the fir park debacle. He's done an excellent job his main aim was to get promoted and he's done that with style. Plus we've been competitive in the cups. Things aren't perfect ie the defence but he will improve the defence in the summer. Plus he will have been planning early for next season something that he didn't get a chance yo do last summer. So I say well done mark Warburton and the rest of the coaching staff.

27 Mar 2016 00:39:17
Looking ahead to the Old Firm match, can anyone share any particular funny or unusual memories from past Old Firm games, one I'll always remember is the 1990 match which we won 3-0 and Walters took a penalty, Bonner got a hand to it and the Celtic end all celebrated, only to sit back down when the ball spun upwards into the net, hilarious.

27 Mar 2016 08:58:29
Must admit the 3_3 game was a beauty also the game where coisty scored the diving header brings back amazing memories evwry time i look at the picture on my wall it makes me smile.

27 Mar 2016 09:21:10
Scotjo

My first OF game.
1970 League Cup Final, 16 year old Derek Johnstone scored the winner, the first time we had beaten them in ages.

Many of us will remember wee Bud taking the ball wide and sitting on it waiting for their defence to catch up with him. Many will remember that. We hammered them 1-0.

27 Mar 2016 09:54:05
I love the build up to any old firm game, the nerves the excitement the anticipation, i honestly don't think there's any other game in world football that can match it for passion alone, i know there is a few Celtic fans saying that it's not the old firm anymore (yawn) but i'd bet my house on saying that 99.9per cent of them are just as excited about this game coming up as we are. It's also the greatest feeling in the world when we win one, my favourite memory was when we beat them 3.0 at parkhead to win the league, although I wasn't at that game, it was one of the best nights of my life celebrating well in to the night with fellow bears.

27 Mar 2016 10:18:59
One of my favourites was 94 3nil up after 28mins the commentator said "you could of driven a bus through the celtic defence" big hateley scored after 50 seconds plus it was at the piggery.

27 Mar 2016 14:37:27
Glasgow Cup. Friday night. Ibrox. Ally 3. Celtic 0.

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 17:26:50
It might be an obvious one but that Scottish Cup final when Ferguson and Lovendkrands scored was Defo up there with my favourites.

27 Mar 2016 18:04:21
Tam Forsyth's winner when we beat them 3 - 2 in the Scottish Cup Final many years ago!

27 Mar 2016 18:46:24
5-1 Wilkins volley top corner after celtic took the lead.

27 Mar 2016 19:46:02
Goram saving Van Hoydonkey's penalty.

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 19:47:35
Albertz 30 yard piledriver in the game Hans Christian Bo Anderson scored twice and we won 3-1.

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 19:49:15
Albertz running half the length of Celtic Park before hammering it into the top corner.

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 19:52:13
Jonas Thern screamer - possibly better than Wilkins'

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 19:54:15
Terry Hurlicks challenge v Grant (? ) at Celtic Park that left the recipient crumpled but led to us scoring about 5 seconds later.

Brilliant.

27 Mar 2016 19:57:53
Hurlock - sorry. Was getting carried away.

27 Mar 2016 21:13:52
Mo edus winner after the scramble in the box not as good or fancy as some of the others but meant a lot.

27 Mar 2016 17:22:19
3-2 Tam Forsyth screamer from 6 inches Scottish Cup final 1973
5-1 Souness era game at Ibrox Ray Wilkins volley goal

But best of all the loudest roar I have ever heard at Ibrox 2-2 game Gough goal after 3 sent off earlier I was in London on business but flew up to be in Glasgow got to Ibrox at half time 2-0 down and 9 men I got in as so many of the leave early loyal were pouring out the Main Stand managed to grab a ticket stub and blagged my way in The 2nd half was heaven I still remember Roberts conduction the Rangers Choir near the end

KT.

27 Mar 2016 23:45:07
Bruisedbear

Was that game not 3-2? As for Hurlock he put in an incredible performance in that game totally outstanding and I remember at one point 4 Celtic players tried to take the ball of him and he just piled through them.

As for my favourite memory has to be the 3-0 game when we won the league. Not only did we hammer them but they really suffered. Can still remember the look on their faces as each goal went in.

28 Mar 2016 08:16:04
Biffo - Yes, I think you're correct. My excuse for that error is that I don't remember any goals Celtic have scored against us. That being the case, we've never lost against them in my book.

28 Mar 2016 08:23:54
KT

I was in the East Enclosure for that one and was so disturbed at 0-2 that I thought about leaving. Instead, I sat down on the terrace (there was space because plenty had gone) and listened to what was happening whilst covering my eyes. I remember trying to watch the game through the TV camera lense which was above me. Thankfully I stayed but missed McCoist's first (because my eyes were shut) but not Gough's! I agree, the noise was incredible and I think it was the first time I'd heard such sound distortion when a goal was scored on Scotsport.

The next nearest to that noise was when Souness scored to make it 2-0 via Aberdeen in his first - I think - season. Fleck got the first and Leighton ran all the way up to the half-way line because he thought it was offside. Which it probably was.

Happy Days!

Bruisedbear: It was Fulton.

28 Mar 2016 21:00:55
KT - It was McCoist who got the first, Fleck passed to him.
