I'm a supporter of giving youth a chance but admit I'm glad to hear about Boyd coming back. I believe we're going to see the best of Templeton next season and hope McLeod cements himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. The signs are looking good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Delighted! The signing of Kris Boyd guarantee's Gers the Championship.

@1 think your getting carried away a little. It guarantees nothing. Remember that lot saying the same thing when Robbie Keane signed

Great news big Boyd back home just hope we're not running before we can crawl are we going to ship Daley or some of the other higher earners to cover this move, and why sign him on a one year deal if as expected boydy bangs in a hatfull of goals he can walk away a free agent that said welcome home

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not get carried away boyd does not mean we will win league it will certainly enhance our chances but it won't be that easy nothing is certain with rangers nowadays

Agree0 Disagree0

I welcome the return of Kris Boyd but I'm not getting carried away, remember who our manager is!!

Good to see Under 17 goalkeeper Robbie Mccrorie trained with the first team, he must be very highly rated if you think about it! although he trained with the first team when he was 14 lol.

Leeboy, the wages are like money that goes into their bank account for doing a job,, sorry m8 couldn't resist

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I would rather we used more youngsters it ain't going to happen and for bye that we would strugle to get a better goal scorer than boyd imo

Just wanted to compare our pre season activity with our "friends" across the city.
Ally has set about signing good international class players and getting them signed early.
our board, despite all the tim press reporting are well on their way to getting ALL the funds needed for a successful campaign, then SPFL here we come.
Across at "Commonwealth Game City" they bought an untried manager on the cheap (half of what Ally is getting in a lower league) Then despite promising their fans a major signing (ie snodgrass) NOTHING as usual as the biscuit tin cannot be opened.
If they get beaten by the wee Icelandic team they will be OUT OF EUROPE with no money coming in a loss of at least £30m with BT taking over the tv contract.
So in a years time will be a level playing field when we challenge them for Champions league football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will not be on a level playing field with them for a long, long time. Forget about them for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

@op
I would take their manager on half of what ally gets and the style of football he wants to play instead of ally, s footy any day, this is their paul le guen moment but this guy has every chance of doing well until proven otherwise.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, you just managed to prise your head out of the sand. So, Celtic bring in a highly rated young manager and he will be ably assisted with one of the best footballers Scotland has ever produced and the problem you have is we are not paying him more than Ally!!! I think your 1st issue should be WHY are you paying Ally that amount of money, The next point is priceless, you have brought in a 36yr old and a 30yr old, I tell you what Ronny is actually thinking of resigning because he knows that he won't be able to compete with those kind of signings. Now, the new manager has come in, he is now looking at the current squad, deciding where and IF he wants to bring in new faces and when he decides then he will be backed with the millions that Celtic have as we have backed every manager. Now, please don't talk about Europe, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about and in fact you are making yourself look like a complete muppet with your comments about the wee Icelandic team. That wee Icelandic team are in Europe. So, in a years time you think that the squad you have will be challenging for the champions league, all the players a year older and a yard slower. To challenge you will need to spend 30million because that my friend is how far behind this current Rangers team is, You are still reliant on people like McCulloch to help you get through the season and dig you out of holes against teams like East Fife and yet in 12 months these players are gong to become Scotlands premier club. So CB, I would suggest another period of head in the sand would be the best remedy for you and come back in a decade when maybe, just maybe mind, things will have improved enough for you to make these ridiculous comments!!

@3, just a wee point m8, I remember people saying that sellik were 10 yrs behind Rangers when Blessed Martin came, They weren't, they wer only about 20million behind us and they spent it and won,
Now I know fine well how far the Gers have had to come back from, but understand this, If we get back, and IF someone invests, which I am certain is the plan, then rangers won't even be a season behind sellik, just like sellik weren't 10yr behind Rangers,
really you should understand that in Scotland all the old firm needs is money to spend to win the league,
Tommy

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo no the dug nbear. my point is we are going backwards instead of forwards. yes Boyd is a goal scorer and will probably score goals for us. but if and it's a big if we get promoted what then?and to answer your question. yes I have played and at quite a decent level, not that that makes any difference to how I feel about us signing 2 strikers that are basically past their best.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2014 13:40:20
agreed bigcol, the team is going backwards and will be the oldest by far in the top league IF we get promoted and IF we last the season without going under. But this site is going backwards as well with the Super Ally men and their delusional posts now in the majority again. It's the ED I feel sorry for as a non supporter of Ally the Manager he has to read all super optimistic tosh.
When I first started visiting this site Baybear was almost a loan voice of sanity and reason. He was joined by anonymous posters like myself but others like sweep 1 and Stewie, LW and LS until there was a majority seeing sense and the folly and lack of sustainability of the board and Ally's approach.
Now it seems optimistic lunacy with no foundation is taking over and joining Ally and this board with an ageing squad we cannot afford in a boring inept march to possible financial oblivion all because of an incompetent manager and an incompetent board.
Still at least we don't moan about it.

@8- you are forgetting the fact that he inherited some good internationals: moravcik, macnamarra, petrov and a certain world class player in larsson. So add a few million onto your 20. If rangers gain promotion next season who will they have? Templeman(if he's not injured), black and Wallace(if he doesn't get sold this season). The rest are getting too old or haven't been tested in the prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op 7) Celtic have no money?!? Really?!? You do know this is 2014 and not 1994 yeah? Dare say there are a few clubs who would kill for Celtic's balance sheet! How much for Wanyama? Hooper? Ki? Potential for more coming in. Champions League cash. season tickets (you remember what a season ticket is don't you?) Like 1st post on here. lay off the glue!

Agree0 Disagree0

N6 bbab I don't get your post who could challenge a polar bear to a snowball fight

N11 sc66 most have played in the scottish premier

N12 mo89 well let's wait and see who yous bring in if yous bring in any players that cost as much as one million pound I will come on here and say I got it wrong will you

N12 of course I know its 2014 maybe you should type in celtic already bankrupt then you can tell me about all this money you think celtic have eh godnight all

@14- yes I know, but the first part of that sentence was 'most are too old'. Smith, daley, Boyd, miller, mculloch.no spring chickens are they?

Agree0 Disagree0

Scarecrow666 [ the rest are getting to old ]is what you said and I agree but let's not have a dispute about what you said and not what you think you said eh lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Tmnww- lol. Fair enough, I'm getting too old and my eyesights too poor for these small phones! My point about replacing an ageing squad is still valid though

Agree0 Disagree0

Scarecrow666 lol agree we need to get younsters involved but we will be laughing if we win premotion cause these faceless investers are going to invest 50 million lol more chance of me investing 50 million lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haven't been on for a while so decided to look in to see what's happening. now I know why I've haven't been on. posts like that make us the laughing stock.
Also can't believe we've signed Boyd. no offence to the guy, a great ranger who scored a lot of goals for us but c'mon. really!

@ 1 How do we know it's no the dug that's posting. It certainly sounds like him to me as I usually agree wi yir dug whereas you are prone to talking single fish- but no here in this post.

@tommy45 boyd has scored 208 career goals on what planet does that make him the top goal scorer in Scottish history? He's currently at position number 14. And just for the record he's 202 goals behind Scotlands true top goal scorer Jimmy McGrory.

29 Jun 2014 18:36:15
@4 in fairness to Jimmy McGrory and some of our own forwards like Jimmy Miller and Ralphie Brand the goals in the olden days were harder to achieve especially in winter when the baw got wet and ended up 3 times the weight it started. Any of the olde yins remember the lace marks on the foreheid and seeing stars for 5 minutes after a heider?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nbear I remember the auld lace up bladder I also hated them when they were wet tried my hardest to avoid heederin it cause the fecker didnae seam to do much when heedered in saying that yae had to thump it when wet even then it didn't go very far and stoped very quickly if it never had full amount of air in it trying to cick it out of a puddle usually meant a wee twang to yer ankle them were the days eh wish I was that age again lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Nbear just getting flashbacks here to my previous post the auld bladder was followed up bye the mouldmaster [mouldy ] that was a ball nobody like receiving at speed on the body eh I got a few red marks on legs trying to block they feckers tingly legs but always tried to let people think yae never felt it lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - I was a keeper and I saved a moldmaster free kick with my face at Crownpoint one day, the mark on my face took a few days to shift)

Ed had a good laugh at your post and honestly mate I suffered much the same fate crossing the playground at primary school I couldnae feel my face for a while its alright to laugh at it now but at the time wow

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2014 00:08:52
tmwnn LOL the mouldy- gawd yir right that didnae half sting - always in the winter when it was freezin and you hadnae warmed up- thwack- sting right on the thigh. I was a half back and like all half backs from these days your neck is about two inches shorter than it should be- cause the weight of the ball papped the neck further into the shoulders.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2014 16:06:33
tmwnn- just out of interest did you ever manage to bend a free kick around a wall with the laced ball a la World Cup 2014? Aye if a hurricane suddenly blew but apart from that- actually it would have had to be two hurricanes blowing the same way. Ah the good old days- 2 , 3, 5 that Dutchman has nearly got his tactics right

Agree0 Disagree0

Nbear just had laugh reding your post but I keep thinking and really laughing at the eds free kick save lol I was more forward player mostly outside right cause I was one of these wee wirey guys that could run for fun but got thumped on more occasions than I care to remember I played for the street team when I was 8 or 9yr old I hated even taken a penalty with the old bladder but enjoyed thumping the moldy past keepers hatet getting hit with the moldy then it was the reggie the regulation ball boucy like the moldy eh

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats the was when I was a lad 5 across the front line ol inside left centre forward ir outside right I've noticed a few teams cick o

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye nbear 5 in the forward line and the auld centre halfs

Agree0 Disagree0

Nbear I often wonder why the profesional players can't last the full 90 min I know when I was school age I played primary and secondry teams and during summer holidays we played from 8 30 am until it got dark then in mid teans it was heedy fitba or 2 touch or wan and aff but yae could play all days these pro players get paid plenty and half of them are puffin and pantin after chasin a long baw unreal mate imagine any pro trying to play andy murray at tennis for hours lol

Kris boyd to be officially a rangers player on Friday. Delay was not due to needing funds released it was talks with boyd contract. No word on Scott Allan cowie looks a no go but you never know cuellar and boug don't think they will return even though I would like they to return

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who in their right mind would want Cuellar and Bougherra to return? Personally, I didn't really rate either during their time here. A bit like Boumsong - remember him? Getting Miller and maybe Boyd for one season to help get the goals is accceptable but we really should give the kids a go even if it takes two years to get back to the SPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

DOIGER, I think you're the only person who didn't rate big Cuellar. 60 odd appearances in one season he made and he strolled through the majority of them. Great defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Believe. If Cuellar is that good, how come Sunderland have released him? In six seasons in the EPL he only played around 120 times, i. e. 20 games per season. Surely we've had enough of signing either over-age pros looking for an easy pay day or foreign nobodies looking for similar. We wouldn't we all feel great if in a couple of years time we're back at the top of the SPL and the team was built around a core of great young Rangers stars?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 13:52:38
DOIGER

Think you are being very harsh on Cuellar as I thought he did an excellent job in the one season we had him. We also doubled our money on him something that had we done more of over the years we might not have been in this mess. Cuellar was good for Rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

"Personally I didn't really rate either during their time here"

Sorry, I thought when you said during their time here that you meant DURING THEIR TIME HERE, meaning Sunderland is irrelevant. Silly me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doiger cuellar maybe past his best but he was good enough first time

Agree0 Disagree0

Doiger a bit like boomsong what was he sold for was it 6million a good bit of bisinuss there as I can't see anybody in current squad going for that kind of money
