Getting away from the rangers rumours for a minute, I've been told by my chelsea supporting friend in London that chelsea are very interested in signing Wigan midfielder James Mccarthy, I must admit Mccarthy has matured into a tremendous midfielder and celtic must be kicking themselves they didn't sign him from Hamilton accies when they had the chance, Mccarthy is very similar in style to Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, in fact my chelsea mate calls James Mccarthy the new Stevie Gerrard, what do you guys think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So the headlines going to be Jose Mourihno signs James McCarthy? Can't see it good wee player would he get a game for Chelsea next season . No!

Larky Bear

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree he has turned into a smashing player. However, he's nothing like Steven Gerrard. I don't know who came up with that comparison. He will never be on Gerrard's level, not to mention their styles are totally different. Gerrard is box to box, scores goals, puts himself about into tackles, passes long and short and hits shots from distance. McCarthy is more of a ball retainer.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCarthy could get played instead of mikel I suppose, mikel is pretty rotten. would be a great move for him if it happened

Rangers web site confirms a new coach at the club. and its available for funerals and weddings! Things must bad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What is your point? If you are trying to be funny and/or wide, you have just scored an own goal--nameless wonder.
billyb

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah even the personalised WTP, so the knuckle draggers can hire it and you can even have Donald Findlay to do your sing along, how low can they go hiring the team coach out.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2013 22:51:45
Why has it taken a dutch bus for the penny to drop? Gone are the days when we could employ someone just to polish the little general's shoes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok so they should just let the coach rot on days other than match days. That makes sense. Football is a business. Whether you make £100 from hiring out a bus for a day or £3 from selling a pie it's all money.

Jprfc

Agree0 Disagree0

Were does it even say about renting the bus out, cause a can't see it in the official website

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 07:54:06
@4 What you say is true, but itsthe fact that we need that money that's worrying.

Agree0 Disagree0

One minute people are saying we're skint, the next giving the club a bashing for making use of its assets to generate cash.

I think renting out the bus is a great idea. Lateral thinking, we need more of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@4/ How will Rangers make money from hiring a bus out? They don't own it. The bus company are trading off the Rangers name and that looks tacky and small time. {Ed001's Note - unless they have done a deal to split any profits made? It is very unlikely a branded bus would be allowed to be used for anything else, without Rangers involvement in profit sharing.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed ED but their is no exterior branding on the bus. if as you say profits are split there won't be much in that pot. {Ed001's Note - I would think it more likely that Rangers get the usage of the bus for free, along with driver, in return. That is a few thousand a year saved, every little helps.}

Agree0 Disagree0

@8 It looks small time because it IS small time.

Our manager ally mccoist is on record saying that he wants to sign an experienced goalie, my fellow bears' fans given the choice between a fit Craig Gordon & marian kello which keeper would you prefer us to sign?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Neither, I would like another young keeper on a low wage ready to develop into a European standard keeper as rangers progress. Not a thirty odd year old who is only interested because he will get a healthy several grand each week

Agree0 Disagree0

To 1 - couldn't agree more

Agree0 Disagree0

"Our manager" wouldn't know a decent footballer in any position he is beyond a joke, it might be worth things getting worse to get rid of him because they will definitely improve without him, it makes me feel sick reading his sales oriented hype, to me McCoist epitomises everything that is wrong at Rangers, he is overpaid, disastrous at his job and has his hand in our pockets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give Scott Gallacher a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with 4

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 Better get used to waiting. McCoist will be around for a long time as Rangers get stronger each season. It will be so great when the transfer embargo ends as he will then finally be on a level footing and we will see then just what a great manager superally really is.

Ed will the 1st competitive game this season be the Ramsdens Cup?

Larky Bear {Ed001's Note - good question, I honestly can't remember which way round it is, whether the first league fixture takes place or the first cup game. They haven't formalised the dates yet, so I can't even look it up!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My Dad said it was so its probably not lol.

On a different note is this the most lacklustre performance Spain have put in for years?
Taking nothing away from Italy they've been excellent shame they don't have the best of there strikers available. Few dodgy subs also Montolivos an excellent player but Aquilani guys awful!

Last year we played ramsden cup against brechin first same again this season,

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2013 17:03:18
Probably in a minority here, but, does anyone else think the '5 stars' should not be so prominent in our strips. Last season was better when not on front above badge. I just think they look daft.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ooooo. controversial! For what it's worth I happen to agree with you. I'm more for understated dignity. Think the stars thing is a bit crass to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are in the minority we should be proud to show our record number of honours.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its apersonal thing bears but for me its a bit je ne sais quoi.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2013 22:45:37
I agree OP. In fact I find it embarrasing. We all know what stars above badges signify on other teams shirts that have them. To me it just acts as a reminder of that, and god only knows what other teams must make of it. It just invites ridicule. I'm not saying we shouldn't be rightly proud of our domestic successs, but we would be better inventing our own symbol and using that instead of the stars. What would we do if ever we did win the CL? Would that be 6 stars? Doesn't make sense. Its like admitting we never expect to win the CL ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are about as classy as the bus and its personalised headrests.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol a few tomposters on here me thinks. Why would u now be proud to show your achievments the amount of titles we have won is remarkable when you compare it to the rest of the world and our competitors. be very proud. You think other teams that a golden star above their badge are embarassed to show off what they have won?! didn't think so

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2013 14:26:06
@6 Serious question, if we ever win the CL how will we show that off? 6 stars? doesn't make sense to use stars that's all i'm saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2013 13:18:16
I hate to say it but you have a point @7. Trying to think this through. if we won CL and maybe showed that off with a big star over the 5 stars, would that suggest the CL star is more important than the 5 smaller ones? But surely the point of us having the 5 stars is to say these are a more impressive achievement than the one star of our neighbours across the city? To be consistent with that, any CL star should actually be displayed smaller than the 5 stars! That wouldn't seem right either. So maybe we should choose something other than stars after all. Interested to know how others think a CL star would be displayed if ever we win it.

Anyone seen the pic of Stevie Smith (alone) in the new kit- on official site. Looks like he grabbed Ally's shorts by mistake.

Anyone any idea how the season ticket sales are going?

There hasn't been too much "plugging" of them until recently so assume they've been selling well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Everyone on renewal list gets renewal notice, so why need to advertise this in Daily Record via publicity shots.

only rumour was only 17,000 sold so far, hence publicity rush?

who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

More back-office redundancies happening right now - including loyal, long-serving employees. with RFC exercising their right to offer only minimum government redundancy packages. Bears do NOT be misled by all these signings because the books still do not balance. and despite the need to cut costs, the likes of Traynor and other waste-of-space individuals will survive the cull. let's see if RFC can hush this up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tried to post about this last night but for some reason it was not printed. Troubleshooter has been working hand in hand with Mr Stockbridge and this week the axe is about to fall on people who stood by the club and indeed lost money in the administration/liquidation. Hall of fame family members also facing the axe!

Agree0 Disagree0

This if true is the kind of information this type of outlet should be used for (along with the transfer rumours of course) as the media have been found to be withholding stories and shying away from printing this kind of stuff. I am gutted for these people being made redundant at a time like this. I can't imagine how scary it must be to have to go and find a job when there just aren't a lot on the go just now and with bills to pay and families to feed. I see us linked with goalkeepers as a back up but why? Second division football is the ideal way to introduce a young keepers at home against the weaker teams. Its a wage wasted. Kello? even Gordon with his past injuries.

I would rather save the wage, get our moneys worth out of Cammy Bell and blood a young goalie when possible as opposed to people being made redundant from there jobs at ibrox. Just my opinion.

This is of course if this particular rumour is true.

Agree0 Disagree0

None of these signings are 100% until 1st September, could all trickery to sell STs, I wouldn't put it past the type of people in charge at Rangers McCoist and Smith included.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is very worrying & the fact that Stockbridge Ahmed & Green are all so obviously still pulling the strings disgusts me how can we remove these guys once and for all? Oh and Jabba how can we stand by as he takes our season ticket money honestly? Something needs done Ally's like a kid in a candy shop with all his new signings that's all that's been in his head since the embargo was put in place and not once has he stopped and said wait a minute we were playing to 50000 a few months ago & still losing a million a month sure they've got that all sorted eh ally?

Agree0 Disagree0

There's also the added addition that rangers today have purchased a brand new state of the art coach from holland. something the must have cost upward of £100,000 if not more. Really scandalous that money is being spent on such things while we are laying staff off. Despicable. We're second division at the moment and this should be realised. Prudence in a time of austerity.

Agree0 Disagree0

Folks, it is absolutely awful when people are made redundant, but sorry many of this have gone through it and it is hell, and unfortunately being football does not change things.

Agree0 Disagree0

Appalling, yet still the masses flock to renew and talk about the exciting times ahead;drinking in the stories of signings that as yet haven't been signed or registered. Sometimes the ignorance within our ranks is staggering. Is it just a case of people being to terrified of the truth? Tommorow is deadline day for renewal and despite no less than 3 calls from Ibrox asking me if I want to renew my answer has and will remain no. The sooner we force out the charlatans that are using the Rangers name to fleece us for cash the better. Cannae believe there are so many who still haven't grasped this.

Agree0 Disagree0

'5/ Rangers have not purchased a new bus. The company contracted to supply transport have.

Agree0 Disagree0

@6 We're not just talking about people being made redundant. We're talking about people who didn't walk away in times of trouble. People who lost thousands when the club went into administration but through love of the club stayed only months later to be called in by the troubleshooter and told to reduce your costs, over and over again because they're putting your job out to tender. Where's the loyalty there - hope these people go to the papers!

Agree0 Disagree0

@7. I have not posted on this site for a while now, the reason for this is mainly down to people like you Baybear and your two timposter mates on this site. your parents must be really proud of your pessimistic outlook on life. If you do not wish to renew your ST, then fine. The vast majority of real supporters WILL renew theirs, because unlike you they have faith and hope, when all you seem to have ahead is a life of doom and gloom. Are you suggesting these players will not be playing for Rangers next season? because judging by your post that is what you are alluding to. I look forward to your negative response, so that I and the rest of this board can ridicule you for the fool that you obviously are when these players take the field.

Ozzie Al

Agree0 Disagree0

And do we know for sure that these so called redundancies were not voluntary? Not every redundancy is forced upon. Employees can apply for it at anytime!

Agree0 Disagree0

@11 They are not voluntary hence the troubleshooter!

Agree0 Disagree0

@11 - They are NOT voluntary. it was my original post. and I can also tell you RFC are attempting to enforce full non-disclosure on staff being made redundant despite it NOT being voluntary and despite offering them statutory redundancy of just £450 for every YEAR they worked for RFC.

Some very long-term serving employees going but one in particular could cause waves given the position he held within the club and access to info he had despite not being a Director but senior enough to know the s*** that's being going on!

If the Board had half a conscience including the Footballing Management Team they would forego all or part of their £360K bonuses for winning the might SFL3 title!

SPM

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozzie Al- grow up you mug. Timposter mates?! What a child you are. If you hadn't noticed I haven't posted for ages either, mainly due to folk like you and your half witted moronic comments. Timposter, really?! Is that the best you've got? Get a grip. The evidence for Rangers being run by shysters is there for all to see yet I'm branded a Tim for pointing out the obvious. You and your ignorant kind make me sick. Who the fu&k are you to question me? How much cash did you loose in shares when the club was liquidated? When was the last time you were even at a game? Pessimistic about life? I'm pessimistic about our club because of the that are rotting it from the inside out yet mugs like you do f@ck all to stop it. What have you done to make a difference lately? Or are you happy that alls well? Just cause it has our badge attached to it doesn't make it all fine you muppet. For the record I'm not saying these players will never play for Rangers, I'm saying that ultimately they are unwittingly part of a grand plan. We will go into admin again, and when that happens you can be safe in the knowledge that your parents will be proud of your contribution to that cause. Well done with your blind loyalty oh grand Rangers man.

Agree0 Disagree0

@10 & 14 children, children grow up! Would you mind keeping to the original post as this is something we have to keep highlighting. Long serving staff members who are now being shafted by the club and small business's who are about to take a second hit from Rangers and who will not survive second time around! Please, please keep this post alive!

Agree0 Disagree0

@14. I lost approx 2 mill personally when Rangers went into Admin. Last game I was at was at Peterhead. As I now reside in OZ the only oppertunity I get is if I can take the corporate jet over for business in the UK. I still purchase five season tickets which I pass on to a childrens home in Glasgow for day trips for the kids. I have personally invested a significant amount into Rangers in the IPO and will be contributing significantly more in year 4 of the plan which should be more than sufficient for the purchase of quality players for the European journey.

Can any one confirm the trialist thing?
So, we can play 2 players in each 8, up to 3 times? Have hopefully 8 games b4 1st Sept.
So my concern is the keeps. Bell can only play 3 times then, and we can only have 1 other of the new signings playing. , so what happens for teh other 5 games? is the plan to play SG in goal for those 5 games? I read AMcC was keen to get him out on loan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't make loan signings because of the embargo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, playing players who have already signed contracts as trialists is wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure we could handle putting one of our young keepers in goal for a few games while we wait on 1st september arriving.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2) I agree. I think it makes a bit of a mockery of the rules. Infact the way they are changing the rules as soon as this football association merger goes through to make it legal to play trialists just further devalues scottish football when its already looked upon as a diddy set up anyways. I mean, trialists? In competitive league matches? It just sounds amateurish.

We would manage without the trialists until september 1st. I know it would be difficult with not having Cammy Bell for in the sticks and having to play a lot of the young players but its the way I would rather see it. I know i'm in the minority with this opinion but its mine and i'm entitled to it.

quite like the new strips and happy that they are now out there for sale, also quite happy that we have a foot hold back on the shop front, with the store opening at glasgow airport again. could never understand why the countrys biggest and most succesful club stopped the self promotion and publicity that these stores gave us to new and existing fans, i'm sure this has cost us revenue more than saved us over the piece!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice new strip but what is the £45 price tag all about? We are a second division club not an SPL club! I know we need to support our club financially but that's a bit steep for 2nd division.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1/ The worst part is the club hardly get anything Green and Ashley have it all tied up in separate income streams.

Agree0 Disagree0

If its too much don't buy one. We've been saying were the same club now since all the problems so why pay less for the shirt? If its the same size then it should be the same price whichever league you play in. I'll prob get all 3 over the season. Blue first of course. Always have.

Agree0 Disagree0

N2 rangers get 51per cent of sale price

Agree0 Disagree0

What do people think about the new kits. Actually quite like them this year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not bad but I prefer retro myself. Don't like the 1872 at the back of the collar as I think it should be in a more traditional typeface.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually prefer the Home one to the other 2 does anyone else think the Blackthorns a really smart sponsor to have on the Jersey? Really getting excited for the new season now on the waiting list for a new season ticket had to give it up due to work commitments 6 years ago but had constant use of one the past 2 years whenever I wanted so looking forward to getting back to it! We need to make ourselves heard that 4-5-1 will not be tolerated in lower leagues.

Loving the new strips, much nicer than celtic this year, they had the better last year tho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah cause they're really comparable.

Their kits may not look very nice to us, but their fans will like them and the quality of product Nike produces are so far ahead of Puma it's unreal. Celtic also get original designs each year whereas we are stuck with teamwear templates that Motherwell and Huddersfield have also got and that my Sunday league team could go out and buy.

Embarrassing if you ask me.

SCRSC

Agree0 Disagree0

We could be wearing a brown hessian sack and it would still be nicer than Celtic's strip.

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as it's blue, I'll be glad to see it.

And Celtic get a bigger cut of the money as well, @2 this may well happen if they keep spending all of the money the way they are.

ed can you clarify the situation with rangers membership with the SFL. They are associate members if I am not mistaken. what does this mean, how is it different from full membership and will full membership be granted under the new SPFL. many thanks {Ed001's Note - An Associate Member shall have no financial interest in the assets of the League and shall not be accorded any voting rights. An Associate Member will be entitled to notice of general meetings of the League and to attend and speak at such meetings, and shall otherwise be bound by such membership by these Rules and all other Rules and Bye-Laws made by the League and for the time being in force.
In other words, they can play in the league, attend the meetings and speak at them, but they have no voting rights nor a cut of the assets of the league. The assets is irrelevant, in the main, it is the voting rights that is important, as they are basically accepting what others tell them to do. Oh and 4 years unbroken membership of the league will then get them a chance to become a full member. It is unclear whether or not the club's membership will differ under the new governing body, they have yet to clarify it, but I would not expect it to happen just yet, in my opinion.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can anyone clear up how we stand on television money this year? We're going to be on tv as much as Celtic again I'm sure
fauldsrfc

Agree0 Disagree0

4 years unbroken membership? What about the 140 years? Don't tell me its a new club after all? {Ed001's Note - nothing to do with that, can you not read? Trying to be a smart arse doesn't suit you when you haven't the intelligence to understand the point. It takes 4 years as an associate member, nothing to do with history, any team can be relegated to associate membership under certain conditions. One of which is repeatedly finishing bottom of Division 3, even if the team was 20,000 years old they could still be reverted to associate membership.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jun 2013 08:44:04
new strips released - pics on the website. I think they all look smart - bring on the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are you joking? They are so disappointing. For the home kit we have a teamwear template the same as teams like Motherwell. It looks not too bad (except the hideous collar), but for a club the size of Rangers to get a standard template like that is absurd. The away one is one of the worst football kits I've ever seen and is not even Rangers colours. We deserve so much better than this cheap and nasty Puma rubbish. Celtic are so far ahead of us in terms of marketing and merchandising contracts it's frightening to think how long it will take us to catch up off the park, never mind on it.

SCRSC

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 are you joking? Their not rangers colours : D so you want a plain blue home and a plain white and a plain red strip then? Think your over reacting its only a strip and I quite like them, although I would like to see an orange or something that's a bit weird and out there
fauldsrfc

Agree0 Disagree0

The home kit should always be blue with red/white details. Away should always be white with red/blue details and the third should be either red with blue/white details or black with red/white details. Just my opinion.

Are you trying to tell me Puma have put any effort in to our kits this year? Puma make terrible kits for every team they manuifacture for except Italy and Borussia Dortmund's were not bad last year.

Why do you want an orange kit? What has that got to do with Rangers?

SCRSC

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres a very good reason why rangers will not make another orange strip. surely you only need t think bout it to realise the mud slinging we would recieve!

Agree0 Disagree0

@4

Exactly right. The only reason anyone wants an orange Rangers kit is so they can wear it to antagonise Celtic supporters, which will lead to more sectarian bile. Time for EVERYONE to grow up and move on from that rubbish. It's 2013.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we care about what other people think. Orange is a colour at the end of the day. Why does the fact orange had nothing to do with the club stop us having an orange strip? our goalie kit was purple and yellow I don't see these colours listed anywhere. The reason the club should have an orange strip is because it was the best selling away kit in the last 15 years for us. The sooner we care less about what people say and think and we stand up to this the quicker we can move on as a club and become stronger. I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about my club

Agree0 Disagree0

The orange was only an example, the purple one years ago was good too. well youve just said exactly what each strip should be so how can puma put in any effort? The weird and kinda cool strips are the ones that sell, kids in glasgow walking around with french teams on. we should be making tops that stand out and will sell to others, after all rangers fans will buy the strip even if they don't like it because that's their teams strip. making the same strip every year makes no sense to me

ed what's the laws on rangers in europe? if we win the scottish cup or the league cup not this season but next, that's 3 years, would we be able to play in europe, the same year we go back the the spl?

HAMILTON LAD {Ed001's Note - there is nothing to stop the club playing in Europe, so long as they meet the FFP regulations, which is where the 3 years accounts comes in. So long as UEFA can check that the club comply to the regulations, then the club will be able to compete. Mind, in a couple of years' time, the rules could be altered again!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If this years accounts are not submitted on time it goes back to three years again. Why the delay?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well rangers haven't submitted accounts for about 3 years prior to liquidation, so why were they allowed to play in Europe? Must be the friendly SFA/SPL signing them off again! {Ed001's Note - rubbish, read up, it is an FFP thing, which wasn't in place then. Paranoia is rife! The SFA and the SPL do not decide whether a team is eligible to play in Europe or not, it is idiotic in the extreme to suggest they do!}

Agree0 Disagree0

One step at a time, no need to worry about Europe yet, it'll come. This isn't a race, when we get back, we'll be back for good.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 'it's not a race' has anyone told Ally that, where is he putting all these players? A bit like the old days if we buy them no one else can get them, a bit déjà vu!

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 so how can they approve non audited teams then Ed? {Ed001's Note - they don't any more, that is whole point of the FFP ruling. Though how long it will be before someone points out that Real Madrid and Barca are only within FFP regs because they haven't paid taxes etc and so the rules are changed. Let's face it they will never ban either of those two from competing! Audited accounts are necessary, but they don't have to be produced now, they could be produced when the club qualifies.}

I was told today that Goian was on £12k a week and Boca on £18k a week. I find that hard to believe but even if the two are £20k in total, the signings made so far cannot be on much more in total. I think Wallace will go and maybe another £10k off the wage bill.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 and 18 make 30 not 20.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted over a while ago that Goian and Bocanegra would go and was given pelters. It amazes me how some fans are so far removed from reality. Their wages were always too high for Rangers and neither player wanted to play in the lower tiers of Scottish football. I also expect Wallace to leave too another big wage off the bill and a transfer fee although not a big one

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember there will need to be a pay off to get them out.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3)Both still under contract so no need for pay off both reportedly not wanting to play in second div, so either transfer fee however small or Ally's got his centre defence partnership win win deal for the club.

Well its on the dodgy rangers sightings, don't know why as its the real thing {Ed001's Note - is it? It shouldn't be, there must be a problem, either with me ticking the wrong box to decide where it went by mistake or with the site itself. I will get it checked because I am 100% sure I put the strip on the good sightings page.}

The one posted yesterday - 26th - is in dodgy sightings because it's not the real home kit. The picture in the good sightings page was posted today. @OP: if you posted yesterday, it's not the home kit.
