I think Lafferty would be a great signing! Knows the league. knows the club and would grab goals no bother what so ever! In no way shape or form to I condon the way he left the club but judging the 3 European games we need some sort of quality in the final third!

Will be honest laff is a proven striker in app and for say 300k where are you going to find that? I dunno he was decent last season as others said scored important goals for us and hearts too. To be honest I think it's a no brainer. I know there are many who would disagree but I would be more than happy for him to wear the jersey again.

It will be interesting to see what striker is going to wear the no.9 jersey I really do think Rangers are in need of a prolific striker along with another centre back and I am still hoping it will be Jake Cooper as I feel he would be very good alongside Connor alongside Katic

We don’t have a player called cooper and Flanagan isn’t a left back never mind left wing back. I’d also suggest that regardless on Coulabaly’s outstanding work rate and effect he can’t run the full midfield on his on (he may suggest otherwise) C minus.

Lafferty has his faults but has proved over last couple of years he can score at any level.
Get him in for the league where he knows his business and IF we go forward in Europe he has done it all over the place with NI.

We are playing 433 attacking and 451 defending. No room for 3 centre backs, do yous chaps not keep up. This is 2018. This maybe tweaked but the game is not so simple as the rigid systems of old, that's why Scotland and the rest of the SCO players are so so far behind. We need a Scottish Johan Cruyff to turn our game or we will die. SPL and SPFL are responsible. Get a Croatian on board!

I have posted before that I think Morelas will be better player with better players around him. Other people have posted that they want rid of him. that's fine it's all about opinions but I can't see Lafferty being a better option than what we've got at the club. I agree with supercoop we've got to trust manager but Lafferty signing looks like cheap option.

Let me firstly say, i personally wouldn't be keen on bringing big kyle lafferty back to rangers! But if our manager gerrard wants lafferty, then i always back our manager and anyone who wears our royal blue jersey! One thing that isn't in any doubt here, is that big lafferty will be desparate to again sign for rangers! His a**e will be making buttons,
hoping and praying, rangers and hearts can agree a fee! It doesn't matter that lafferty has thoroughly enjoyed playing for hearts!
Rangers will always be lafferty's club and he'd turn down any club to finish his career at ibrox! Rangers will always be pulling on lafferty's heart strings! Lafferty will be absolutely desparate, for this move to go through!

I’ve mentioned this before and it’s a deal that suits both parties. Lafferty to Rangers with Wallace going the other way. The Wallace situation is holding this deal back and could scupper it.

Loved the result last night and feel it’s something to build on! Got my tickets for next Thursday and I’m buzzing. Thought Coulibaly had a good game and I have high hopes for him this season if he can dominate the midfield and we get Rossiter fit (BIG IF) then that would be my deep lying two in MF. Attacking mid to be fought out between Dorrans Ejaria and Windass. Very healthy competition for places and thank god uoung Glenn Middleton has popped up to give us another wide option. Another striker and a CH not top of the Bryan signing would be perfect maybe Kipre from Motherwell would be worth a 750k punt?
I think this season is all about consistency, 108pts to played for outwith the old firms which will take care of themselves.
Anyone think we need to strengthen elsewhere?

Hi bears, not posted in a while as just had a son, a new we bear for the rangers family, caught the game last night though thrilled with the result would've taken that before kick off, could have maybe been better on the ball and break a few times but some great performances in Goldson and Katic, Kent, ejaria and coulibaly look promising players, also seen the news regarding lafferty I know it may split opinion if he came back but if he scores goals which I think he would he'll be more than welcome he done the business against Celtic last year and I believe he scored more goals against them than us so I'd take him in a heart beat, 🇬🇧🔴⚪️🔵🇬🇧.

Anyhow said lad asked why I looked so unhappy, what he didn't know I was trying to hold back my tears for 90 minutes watching him in his full strip watching what will be his life's passion, what a moment. Yep it would solve a few problems. Firstly our right back at present is a terrible defender E. g. James tavanier who was all over the place last night . And secondly in front of the right back position we have tried 3 players so far Candeias. Windas and Murphy last night who was missing like the other 2. So move tavanier forward . Left back will be filled with John so right away we have 3 positions improved from previous games.

Anyone else think we still need a playmaker in midfield? What would be your midfield 3 from the players we have at present, thoughts?
My midfield 3 would be Arfield, Couillaby and Rossiter if we can get him fit. With concerns over Rossiter I think we need a S Davis type or him himself.
For me Ejaria could be a great impact player he is still a bit raw. Some great play, some play that shows a bit of inexperience.

They got him for nothing, got a great season out of him and he is 31 years old with only 1 year left on contract, no more than 500k or 100k plus Wallace or Halliday.
100% he will give us 20+ goals next year if given enough game time. Combine that with what we get from Alfredo and our midfield and we will be pushing Celtic very close this year.

A few comments on last night. Our passing in general was very poor. Goldson what a player positional sense up with the best, commanding in the air, tackles strong and accurate. Katic almost as good without the positional experience. Tav absolutely brilliant again our most creative player did make 2 schoolboy defensive errors which could have cost us. Coulibaly M. O. M. tackles for fun breaks up play, what an engine, loan period over buy him lol. Osijek are no mugs we will have to be at our best to beat them here. Really proud of our team.

Wow I tell you what I am a rangers supporter and I have been for many many years now but I also call it how I see it and use lot on here are deluded! Don’t care what any of use say or try to slate is we play like that in the SPL we will be lucky to get 3rd again!
“THE PERFORMANCE” was awful! How can any of use say it was a great performance and I’m seeing comments how this team shows signs of a Walter smith team and how they are superb. What a joke! 3 goal attempts and one on target 3 corners the whole game couldn’t string more than 2 passes together constant pressure from a team 4th in there crappy league. oh eh superb indeed eh? We got dumped on for the best part of the game if it wasn’t for McGregor in goals and the fact they missed about 8 chances it could of easily been 3 or 4-1 them. We got very lucky and came away with a “GOOD RESULT” that’s all it was, a good result in the fact we somehow managed to come away with the win and a clean sheet!
Kent and McGregor only two players I rated from last nights game! Yeah Morelos scored a goal but he never had any other chances at goal so 90 minutes and not one shot on target apart from his goal that he did take very well! ok he held the ball up well but for who? one else is up there or anywhere near him so he was to play it back no good!

The teams in the spl would have been beaten lastnight in my opinion, we're only a couple of games in and have a lot of developing to do, if we can win away against a good team like them and keep a clean sheet, for me, there is a whole lot more to come.

I dunno mate Aberdeen were unlucky to not come away with a win against Burnley who finished what 6th/ 7th in the premier league last season and also Hibs who came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 I don’t see that passion in our team “yet” I couldn’t see us coming from 2-0 down and mostly cause I can’t anyone in that team who can score more than 2 goals in a game just now. result as I says was good the performance was awful and the fans on here and def getting carried away like Aberdeen the first game of the season I think we are going to be in for a nasty surprised!

Sorry kenny have to disagree, we've just started the season with a new team away from home against a half decent team that put out psv last year so it fair to say they can play abit, got the early goal and kept a clean sheet just what's required at this stage we will get better with game time but can't complain to much very good result hopefully keep building, a bet burnley would of took a 1-0 away.

Not getting carried away, but we would never have won that game last season.
As SG said himself, it wasn't pretty but it was effective.
Second half ball retention was poor which invited them onto us, but bearing in mind some of these players are playing only their 1st game of the season in a new team, you have to be happy overall.
There's definitely improvement to come. You can see already there will be very few of last season team playing once everyone's available.

Good victory last night, a few scary moments, Mcgregor - great, Flannagan - few dodgy moments, maybe better on the right, Tavs - quite poor, the guy with the head bandage got the better of him a few times, Goldson -excellent, solid, Katic - couple of misplaced passes but growing into it, Jack - a few dodgy passes, Coulibaly - solid, will get even better, Ejaria - didn't show much, i think he should be an impact player, Kent - decent enough, good tracking back, Murphy - off the pace, Morelos - i've slated him but he ran his socks off and i was glad he got his goal, hopefully he will kick on, Windass - didn't show anything, McCrorie - did what he had to, Middleton - no time to do anything. This was a harder game but we were better than the last one, we will only get better, the players will take a few games to gel properly.

If derby are prepared to pay £8million for him, which means rangers would pocket £800,000 then ideal! Tav was targeted last night by their big centre forward as the weak link in the defence (which he is by a country mile) however I think he done okay. Teams will attack our right side all season when he’s there and he will be caught out for goals at times however, Tav will also win us games with his threat going forward, we must learn to take the good with the bad and hope he wins us more than he loses.

Goldson and Katic are fine and the partnership is growing, but Shkupi got in behind the full backs down the flanks as well.
Tav is a reoccurring problem and he should be replaced at R/ B.
Glad we don't have to face Brendan's team for a few weeks as he will exploit this weakness on the flanks, you can be sure of that.

Play Tav as a right-side attacking midfielder and put Flanagan at right back and John at left back again. Goldson and Katic seem solid and McGregor is class. We've a glut of midfielders and when Arfield, Dorrans and Rossiter are fit again we will have plenty to choose from. Ryan Jack is doing what we signed him to do and is a tough competitor, just what we need and I just hope that the Scottish referees don't single him out for red cards. I'm really pleased for Morelos and I'd like to see him play alongside Sadiq in the return leg next week. Don't forget, injuries and suspensions will happen so we'll need a strong squad. A good win in the home leg will set us up nicely for the visit to the sheep pen.

His right foot is wand when it comes to crossing. Sacrificing a bit defensively I know but he creates a lot of chances. Just needs better cover from the winger on his side which is why I like candeias on that side.

Tav did well enough last night. Their strength was down the left and their LB had a cracking delivery.
He also set up goal with a lovely first time delivery.

It's funny the team does indeed have a Smith feel about it. Not the finished article by a long shot but night and day compared to Pedro's pish at the start of last season. I liked the look of the new boys. Coulibaly and Ejaria played well and the boy Kent looked promising. Thought Morelos was very good and that kind of commitment and application all season from him wouldn't half help the cause. I thought ejaria got caught on the ball and awful lot. 4 or 5 times they robbed him and put us under pressure think there's a player in there just needs to realise he won't get loads of time on the ball with us.

Great result tonight We grinded a result tonight and defence and goalkeeper was superb! Clinical in a sense that we only had 2 shots on target and put one away Still needing a creative player along with another striker In sure Gerrard will know this and will have this sorted out soon!

Good result, again we look solid defensively. Think playing Flanagan on the left limits him going forward and tends to give up possession too often, but ATM he is what we need. Would like to see John playing in front of him, in the LW position.
Central midfielders need to try and retain the ball a lot better, coulibaly looks like he will be a solid player and could form a good partnership with ejaria once they have time to gel a bit.
Still can't see what people see in Murphy, maybe it's just me but I think he looks very ordinary. If he is going to go with Kent on the left then we need candeias on the right.
All in all though, pretty pleased with how we are progressing.

Zikos. Flanagan fine. His job is to defend not bomb forward. Last year all fans moaned we did not defend now we go three games. No goals conceded still not happy.

Agree 100% jboy stopping shipping daft goals has to be no 1 priority. always fancy us to nick a goal n if u don't concede u won't get beat.

Always my point, not conceding is a good place to start,
I keep saying half the fifty league goals conceded and we have a chance of winning league.

Wtf jboy21 - Read my post. I just said Flanagan is exactly what we need atm because he is more solid defensively. He has been slack in possession, hopefully he will improve. I would still like to see a natural left footer ahead of him at LW and would like to see what Declan John would do up there. Not sure it would work but would definitely give it a go. Don't think he would be any worse than Murphy!

Not many morelos haters out tonight. Thought he was brilliant tonight. Running channels, good hold up play, linked up well, winning fouls and a well taken goal. Hopefully he keeps it up keeps the boo boys off his back.

Hopefully morelos does kick on, one good game out of a few does not mean he has turned a corner. He has to perform consistently. He did take his goal well.

I think tonight was above expectations, well for me anyway, though I think the week link was Murphy, maybe keep the same line up 2nd leg but get Candeias on instead of Murphy? Kent and candeias running at their full backs would be good to watch!

That performance tonight was reminiscent of the walter Smith second era.
Hard as hell to beat and looking like we're not going to concede even though opposition have chances. Brilliant game management
However if this ends up being the way we play then morelos can't be our main striker.
Part of the downfall tonight was our inability to hold the ball up top and retain possession. Every time the ball went up it came straight back to us. I think we could see a lot of Sadiq this season.
First time since the year 2000 osijek have failed to score at home in europe. To put that into perspective that's wjen we signed Miller for the first time. Signed tore Andre flo. Klos was the goalie

Completely agree. First time in a long time I haven’t had the fear when teams have been attacking us. Early days but the defense is a million times better already.

I agree but against better teams Tavernier will lose us goals as he coninues to make mistakes in the box and gets caught out of position. He coninues to make the same errors we saw in the cup final agsinst hibs and most of the games against Celtic last year.
