If a big English side suddenly decided that Scott Allan was top of their wanted list and promised him Premier League football and three times the money Rangers would be offering him, how big a factor would those boyhood ties suddenly be?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2015 21:21:23

Tbh, the way Stubbs has spoken on subject, if they sold Allan to us then it would undermine him as manager and he would have to quit to save face.

I wouldn't be spending anymore than 250k on him though, not when we can get him next year for free.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

27 Jul 2015 18:41:02
Who's to say he comes to us when he's a free?

There could be a lot of English teams come in for him which would be more appealing to him.

ScottAllan will be a Rangers player be it now or next summer if Hibs want an unhappy player on their books with the effect that has on fringe squad players desperate to play for "their" team then that is up to them.

We do not urgently need Allan but it would be good to have him were we to draw Aberdeen or Celtic in either of the non mickey mouse cups.

My only slight worry is it gives English Championship teams more time to assess him and maybe steal him from us but tbh I think bearing in mind Rangers WILL be in SPFL and at the very least the Europa Cup from next season Allan would still await the summer to come to the team he loves. Their is also the fact he will gain a signing on fee greatly increased by having no transfer fee cost after January 2016

27 Jul 2015 17:49:33
I don't think Scott Allan. Played a dozen games for dundee United.and he never started for wba.went out on loan s few times then played around 30 games for hibs .this record doesn't make him a great player he has potential but let's not get carried away I think he would do a job for us but remember his idol was gazza his is not gazza lol you would think he was the way we are going on about him.if he comes he comes if not let's move on this garbage about him being worth a millionth dis is a joke

Agree0 Disagree4

27 Jul 2015 18:12:01
The only way we will be in the Europa cup next season is if we win the Scottish cup. So you can't say we WILL be in it 'at the very least'.

Agree5 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 18:56:24
Europa League at the very least, KT? So that means you're saying we could be in the Champions League at most?Nonsense as per.

Next year I meant as in qualify for Europa League 2017

Why can Rangers not hope to push Celtic?

Aberdeen are not the greatest team on planet and pushed Celtic all the way till last 4/5 games.

Rangers will be easily the equal of Aberdeen and bearing in mind there will be 2 more signing windows and another year of season tickets I think under the stewardship of Warburton & Weir Rangers will also push Celtic all the way in season 2016/7.

Going by past end of season pressure pots Celtic are famous for collapsing at the final hurdle so again I see no reason why we can't beat them to a CL place.

Lets also add that Celtic's Treble record has been pathetic due to the cup tie mentality of smaller teams and I would like to state confidently that taking into account how Rangers were voted out the League by most teams then EVERY game back in the SPFL will be a cup tie for Rangers and our staff/players.

I predict that Rangers will push Celtic to the final few games and should Celtic say be on a CL lucky run past Xmas then Rangers may well win out in the final 2 games or possibly the last game of the season. We are the proven masters of coping with end of season pressure unlike Celtic

Maybe I will be proven wrong but to say it can't possibly happen is just plain stupidity

Come on some of you, 6-2 against one of our nearest rivals for the league in our first meaningful game and the nitpicking starts. The team is still being built and getting to know each other, I'll tell you this the improvements are 300% better than the auld boys network of days of old, yes have your say but don't be nasty about it and back the manager and team be Happy!

Bong - can't deny it was great result. But given what's happened over the last 3 years, please allow some fans to be a wee bit sceptical. There are still questions to answer, but on the football side we are no doubt heading in the right direction. I'm sure there will be hiccups, but If we can get through the next 3-4 games, things will defo be looking good.

As much as I would like to see scott allan at rangers we need to show more respect in the manner in which we conduct our buisness. Scott should also respect the fact that he is still under contract, a good fair over should be made by dave king and the board rather than the embarrassing offers already tabled last week. I can understand trying to get value for money but this I penny pinching to say the least.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

27 Jul 2015 13:58:37
How is it penny pinching he is in the last year of contract. Do u want to go back to the days of paying over the odds for players I wouldn't be paying over 300 thousand for him.

Agree5 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 14:54:38
Embarrassing offers? 200k+ for a championship player with 1 year on His contract is a fine offer.
It wasn't rangers who leaked the bids it was hibs. we want the player we bid for the player. he is only worth what a team will pay.

27 Jul 2015 14:56:50

Looking back too Saturdays performance after watching the whole match again two main observations, ignoring what must be the softest penalty award for a year the finishing was clinical and the balance of the team looked right. The players must be looking forward to going to work again, yes we rode our luck in the first 30 minutes but to score two goals from outside the penalty box when was the last time that happened. We will have hiccups but at least we now have optimism.

Everyone is talking like foderingham is poor, he was playing at a much higher level and was keeper of the year . I think he will come good its his first game anyone can take time to settle the fans at Swindon rate him, our defence will come good they just need time

Believable5 Unbelievable3

27 Jul 2015 13:06:08
What worries me is not so much his kepping abilities its his kicking abilty. That coupled with the obvious orders that the ball must be played out from the back at all costs could cost us when teams pressure us.

Agree0 Disagree3

27 Jul 2015 13:57:42
I'm all for playing out from the back, but sometimes your keeper just has to leather it up field.I think the communication should have been better but that will come with game time. Also Wilson was passing it back to his weak side, again that will get sorted.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 14:53:33
my worry is the defence
the goal Burnley scored was straight through the middle.
first goal Saturday, the guy just drove straight at the centre of the defence before getting off a free shot.
we need to lock the door & let the rest of the team play.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 15:11:07
Of course we must give big Wes the benefit of the doubt. It is tricky when you are told to play from the back when the easiest thing for a goalie to do would be simply to hoof it up the park. If you have quick players against you who can close down quickly it can be a bit nervy. I always thought The Goalie was one of the best in such situations.

27 Jul 2015 10:37:48
Ok, so first 30 mins or so not so great but what was encouraging was the fitness levels, 89 mins on the clock and they were still going, still trying to score. The team WILL get better and these silly mistakes will stop. What does concern me though is the keeper, not really seen him make a save yet and his distribution so far has been poor. Hopefully he will settle down also as Bell is not the answer I'm afraid.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

27 Jul 2015 15:16:05
The guys looked as fresh at the finish as when they started the match and to see Tavernier tearing up the wing and into the Hibs' box in the 85th minute and with us 6-2 up was quite refreshing tbh. There was none of that nonsense when they take the ball into the corners. Everything was about pace, fitness, athleticism and confidently knocking the ball about. A joy to watch at times! Can't wait for the real business to start.

With regards to the Scott Allan contract situation.

Article 17 of the FIFA Transfer Regulations states that players can unilaterally cancel their contract with their club after a certain protected period has expired if an amount of compensation is paid to their original club.

What is the protected period?

For players under the age of 28 the protected period for their contract is three years, meaning they will be able to unilaterally terminate their contract when they are three years into it. For players over the age of 28 the protected period for their contract is two years, meaning they will be able to unilaterally terminate their contract when they are two years into it.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

27 Jul 2015 08:37:28
here is also this little thing to consider in respect of when a player can ask to terminate.
"The player is required to give notice of two weeks following the final competitive match of the season of his intention to invoke Article 17, the compensation to be paid to the club must also be agreed upon within this time frame.
So it looks like it from last game of season i'm afraid.

27 Jul 2015 10:52:57
I still don't know why we should spend money on SA now when we could sign him on pre-contract in January? All you would do is give Hibs our main promotion rivals money to rebuild their squad.
