Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

27 Jan 2014 17:09:11
Yeah I know that this just a rumour but that's what this site is all about. Just heard from a mate at work that Stewart Mcall is being lined up to take over the helm from Ally. I know its all second hand info but his mate works in Ibrox and states that its common knowledge there that this is going to happen. don't ask me when, but hopefully sooner than later! He can work on a tight budget, he's a Rangers man and he certainly won't be asking for £800000 a year that's for sure!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are well named I think your on the piss right now

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Agreed)

Ally won't be going anywhere as Rangers don't have the money to sack him. So you can forget about any rumours regarding who is going to replace him.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2, but so many tell us Ally is Rangers, don't you think he has made enough and would go without a payout, could it be it is on the contract he never read.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCoist won't be going anywhere until we get a chairman and board that are investing in Rangers and restoring our reputation on and off the pitch. To this lot in charge Whyte/Green etc having Rangers legend Ally McCoist on the payroll must be very profitable based on his wages (or are we to believe no one read his contract?) because as a football manager he is not worth 10% of it. I've said for ages now that we should demand answers from McCoist on transfers, sackings, redundancies, tactics etc etc, he is repeatedly claiming to be one of us yet here we are again ST renewal time a few more board members gone, no ones got a clue what's going on, do we buy a ST just for our money to be stolen by the spivs? and where's our mate Ally? is he looking out for Rangers or keeping us informed? is he **** he is laughing all the way to the bank, how many millions has he had out so far? I fear this will be ongoing as long as McCoist remains at the club pacifying the fans and keeping the money rolling into the spivs (and his own) pockets.

Op did you get hame auright lol

there's a couple of things that pop up most days on this site, most people want Dave King to take over ( me included ) a lot of people want Ally out ( me included ) the only thing is you can't have King without McCoist, if you go all the way back to Greens first day, McCoist and King have been in touch and no doubt talk several times a week if not daily, unless King is a complete b*****d then Ally will get a chance at the top league for his loyalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

@6, If and I still think it is a big if King becomes top man make no mistake he is not looking to throw more money away. And if he has any doubts that with Ally in charge progress is limited then make no mistake Ally will not be there.

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 would you walk away from a contract for no money. Rangers is a job to ally which he enjoys but if he gets sacked I would expect him to seek compensation

Agree0 Disagree0

The clown signed kevin kyle, when no one else would go near him, and then the club have got to pay him to leave. absolute crap

Agree0 Disagree0

@ 9 Kyle got no payout plus there wasn't an abundance of talent for ally to pick from

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally still on 400,000 a year which is hell of a lot of money for a league 1 manager, Asking the players to take a cut is daft. it was ally who signed all these players and gave them big contracts. make ally take another 50% pay cut.

Agree0 Disagree0

@10. kyle gave an interview clearly stating he had been paid out for the rest of his contract. why come on and make a statement when you don't know the facts. i'm surprised to see kyle and talent in the same sentence.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2014 06:58:51
@11 I agree with what you say. But what do you mean "another" pay cut for ally? Has the first cut he was so pleased to tell us about 5 months ago, buy which he strangely only managed to "sign off" a couple of weeks ago, actually been implemented yet? Wish I had as much stalling power as he does - i'm on a pay freeze that I didn't sign off but was implemented anyway. that's the way things usually work when a company really wants to start saving money. Wonder what the difference could be in ally's and wallace's case?

Agree0 Disagree0

@13 he agreed a wage cut months ago. The admin people and bean counters did nothing about implementing it. Maybe ally should have logged onto the rangers bank account and adjusted his pay and all the PAYE nonsense that it would involve. Whilst sticking a broom up his bum and sweeping up.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ 10 He picked Kyle over Craig Beattie who is a far better player so your answer doesn't hold water. Both had legs made of china and more often out injured that fit but Beattie was easily superior to the one Ally opted for.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2014 13:42:30
@14 don't be silly. You seem to suggesting that some "admin people" have overlooked a pay agreement resulting in the club unnecessarily paying out hundreds of thousands of pounds extra to mccoist over the past 5 months or so? Just a couple of major problems with that hypothesis. 1. If it was, as you say, actually "agreed" by mccoist at that time, then he has simply been overpaid above what he has been entitled to under that agreement, so why doesn't the club simply take the overpayment back off him? that's what usually happens when people are erroneously paid too much by their employer. 2. Why was it announced a couple of weeks back that the agreement had just been "signed off" and admitted it hadnt yet been implemented? Get the image of your darling ally with a brush up his backside out yr mind and go figure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally mccoist signed a contract that paid him 800 grand a year maybe we agree it was to much but he never needed to take pay cut people should remember that and if he is still manager when we reach the top league his wages go back to 800 grand

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2014 07:20:11
@17 I wonder if you would feel so loyal to the man if you or a member of your family were facing redundancy because of his stupidly fat salary. By the way, he is still on 800 grand last I heard, you heard any different? When exactly is the mythical "cut" going to kick in, funny how that detail has been missing from all press releases on the subject. As has whether this is genuinely a cut or just an agreement to defer full payment until a later date. When admin 2 is looming these are genuinely important questions that people should be demanding answers to.

Agree0 Disagree0

N18 pauline ime not showing loyalty to anybody in my post ime just stateing a fact he could have said ime not taking a pay cut and there is nowt that could have been about it

hi ed, was talking to a friend at the weekend, and we were talking about rangers financial plight. my friend is a big fan of the nfl in america. he was telling me that clubs over their have different sponsers on their playing tops to that of their training tops and other gear, also car parks are sponsered aswell. with that idea on top of renaming ibrox and murray park to sponsers, do you and fellow bears think this is something we really need to look into, and try to maximise all our avenues?

boyblue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - I believe this is something that will become common practice, not just at Rangers but over the sporting world)

Teams in Scandinavia have different sponsors on their jerseys not sure why rangers haven't looked into this. even Dundee utd have 2 sponsors on their strip

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - scottish championship sides do as well, noticed it against falkirk)

Good idea mate having 2 on the shirt would significantly hinder the deal we have with blackthorn though I take it all 3 parties would need to come to an agreement? I remember looking at the Mexican League Shirts while in Cancun those were wild they had about 20 different sponsors all over the Jersey & it really did Cheapen the look of the shirt but money talks.

I think a lot of Ally but he is no tactician but neither was Smith. But at the end of the day both put out winning teams on the park. So we get rid of McCoist then what? The only link to what goes on behind the scenes closes and were in the dark?. Who replaces him. Anyone any quality will come in on his new salary we no budget for players and knows that theya re expected to win 22/22 rather than 21 wins and 1 draw. Scott Gardiner from Dundee knocked us back and he's a life long fan because it was too risky to jump ship we would struggle to get a decent replacement. McCoist keeps the team motivated when other club players would burry their head with all that's gone on. I think the glory hunter need to back off the guy and realise we are still early in the overall grand scheme of things we don't have anything attractive to offer to guys like Terry Butcher or Billy Davies to come in as a replacement and you need to accept the Rangers we are now at this point in time and circumstance and not the club in a position of old where you can afford to sack Paul Le Guen and bring back Smith with your cheque book open. Some of you need a reallity check and need to be supporters rather a buch of Ally crtitics. Some of you on here I know and you don't even buy a strip or go to games your arm chair fans with an opinion.

Didn't get past Smith was no tactician.

Were you saying that when he took us to a European final or was bringing trophy after trophy to Ibrox?

Or even if you're going to argue that we had better players back then (ignoring the fact that we're playing part time tradesmen nowadays) then what about when Walter brought back some respectability to an absolutely hopeless national team by beating the likes of World Cup finalists France.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naz, Alex McLeish took us to the knock out stages of the Champions League with Long ball up to Lovenkrands he was the worst tactician out of them all so your point is nonsense. Smith always had good players, players who would give him blood and players with unique talent I. E Gazza, Laudrup his sides never played technical football. it was always try get the ball to a key man to make something happen. that's why we always took a doing in the champions League teams would stick two defenders on our key men and we wouldn't know what to do. If you think Walter Smith was a tactician your a bam pot mate, a great manager but he never put out a technically brilliant team.

Agree0 Disagree0

As for the France comment it is laughable. James MCFaddens wonder goal was a freak of nature against the worst France side in 25 years, We played Anti Football the rest of the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Alex McLeish was in charge for the game in Paris, Smith was in charge of 1-0 win at home, Gary Caldwell scored the winner so some might find your comment laughable)

And that certainly was not the worst France team that would be the one that Imploded at the last World Cup. I also never got past Smith was no Tactician ok no one liked the 4-5-1 but progressing into the Uefa Cup Final that night was the one of the best feeling I have ever experienced. If we played 4-4-2 or a 4-4-3 I would never have seen Rangers in a European final I am always Grateful to Smith for that but I always feel Novo deserved to play the Final and would as always have gave 100% but that's another story. What is it with the name calling and bampot crap were all the same on here yes we do have differing opinions but were on this site for the same reason. So who was our key man that we tried to hump the ball to in the Uefa cup Run Darcheville? It was not pretty I am not saying that But Smiths Tactics got us to that final no doubt about it made many Rangers fans proud just to be there how many of us went to Manchester that Day? How many were getting Butterfly's at there work itching to get home and see the boys play in a major final like that? How many went through to Ibrox and watched the team? How many filled the pubs? the excitement was like nothing I've ever felt that can never be taken away from us I know I'm going on like we won it but to me it will always be special. If anything Smith was a tactician we did not have anywhere near one of the best teams in Europe But we nearly went all the way against the Fans wishes Smith played to our strengths used his Tactics and his defensive formation took us to the final of the Uefa Cup then a few seasons after took us back to Manchester & got a 0-0 draw against Fergies Utd at Old Trafford. Even before all or financial problems Rangers fans could never agree & have never been truly happy were a fickle bunch and that will not change.

Agree0 Disagree0

OP The only link to what goe's on behind the scene's close's then we are in the dark, how what has Ally informed you about, I don't think he has informed anyone about what happen's behind the scene's as you put it.
Tam

Agree0 Disagree0

Like Tam says, what are you smoking, ''the only link to what goes on behind the scene'' you are obviously on the wind up. According to him he did not even know what was on his contract never mind anything else at Ibrox.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 Ally is not the answer as manager and is not building a side to compete in the top division. There has been virtually no youth policy under him, the team is full of overpaid journeyman players with no sell on value and the only reason we are so far in front is the huge gap in finances. The average side in league 1 costs £100k a year to run while his team costs £6-7m. Now it's doesn't take a tactical genius to win the league under those circumstances

Agree0 Disagree0

McCoists tactics are an amatuerish copy of Walter Smiths 9 at the back, everyone playing out of position, long ball rubbish, which was described as "anti football" I'm not sure McCoists version even qualifies as football, but say what you like about WS he was always a gentleman, shame some of his decency and honesty didn't rub off on his protege.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op smith was a good manager he had great success cause he played the team to its strength and more so played it to against the strength of our opposition

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2014 10:39:26
I think a couple of posters are confusing flair with tactics.

How many times did we hear back when Tommy Burns managed Celtic that they played better football than us yet how many leagues did Celtic win in that period?

None because Walter set his teams up in a solid counter attacking style against them which proved to be tactically extremely effective.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bang on naz you put it better than me with regard walter smith

1. Jig stands up to be counted. He does not hide.
2. Why are premier league midfield players turning their back onthe guy with the ball and walking away?
3. In general why do players make a pass then turn and walk away!!
4. Why to wide players keep coming inside and choking the game? Wallace does it loads, but refuses to hit a shot with his right foot. what's that about?
5. We need to use the width of the pitch and moive the ball wquicker from side to side.

Finally we are getting worse not better. 7 premier players on the park Saturday and they couldn't hit each other with a pass. shocking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't agree with all you say, but for sure agree on getting worse not better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with a lot you say and have noticed when either Moshni or McCulloch have the ball no one seems interested in taking it off them. I have lost count of the number of times either player has had to lump the ball up the park because our midfielders are hiding. They don't want to know when it starts to get tough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Op agree but your point on wingers is bang on the idea of plaaying wingers is he goes on outside goes to byeline then crosses the ball the idea is to beat the offside trap eh

I am so unhappy with our manager Ally McCoist.

1st of all he didn't score enough goals in his playing career for Rangers, should of had at least 400 goals playing for rangers.

2nd. His record this season is terrible. Played 22 and only won 21 averaging 3. 3 a game

3rd NEVER playing the young lads in the team like Faure, Aird, Macleod, Templeton. he should include 11 young lads, what is he thinkin?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

@ OP LOL there is nothing like wit and repartie and that is nothing like wit and repartie. God loves a trier though.

Lets put this one to bed fellow Bears there has been a lot of people on here saying we should get rid of Ally ( myself included) and lots of people saying we should keep him as manager, how about the guys who want a change of manager

(we are not Ally haters I could never hate someone who has done his best for the club as a player and manager, just in my opinion his best as a manager is not good enough)

bullit point why he should go and the guys who want to keep him bullit point why he should remain and let's keep this civil as we are all Rangers supporters just with conflicting opinions. I will go first

1) Tacticaly naive

2) has only plan A no plan B when things go wrong

3) can't seem to bring on our youth

4) has managed to turn good honests pros from half decent players into halfwits for instance Black, good with hearts poor with Rangers, Shiels very good with Kilmarnock mediocore with Rangers, Templeton good with Hearts can't get a game for Rangers Nikki Law fantastic with Motherwell mediocore with rangers, Sandaza, Clark, etc etc need I go on. good players don't become bad players for no reason. Jon Daly is the only exception but even he could do better against the poor oposition

5) Endorsed every single croock and charlatin that has darkened Ibrox

6) thinks we are all stupid ( I never read my contract etc)

But most importantly WE can't AFFORD HIM

when playing staff and backroom staff are being asked to take wage cuts and our club is losing money hand over fist can we really afford a manager who earns £70 per month and who continually wants to add to our already bloated squad if we paid our managment team the same wages as the top tier of scottish football then we would be well on our way to making the cuts that are needed.

but let's put that all aside for one moment and ask yourself this one question if the playing field was levelled next season and all teams had to start with the same budget the same size of squad the same alloted traing times ie all teams where full time and it came down to just Allys skills as a Manager would we win promotion to the top tier I think not.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree. Great player, but not a good manager. When he leaves Ibrox (whenever that might be) he won't get another team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Given the level playing field, we'll win it by more than 20 points.

What isn't the leveller you're looking for are the away artificial pitches, the raising of the game week in week out by the opposition and the adrenaline their players get from it, not to mention the high expectations and critical fan base we have. There was a post on here earlier with stinging criticism of Fraser Aird who's only 18. You don't get that at Morton or Raith Rovers and it sure ain't helpful.

So in actual fact you can't get the leveller in Scotland because every team in the country dreams of beating Rangers or Celtic. Opponents admit it so I'm saying nothing new.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, lochaberbear, this is a good appraisal of the situation, and for anyone who disagrees' cast your mind back to the European ties against Malmo and Maribor. On both occasions, when things were going against us, he stood outside the dug-out, arms folded, shaking his head and done absolutely nothing.
I feel our team, although getting results at this level, needs moulded as a footballing unit and this must come from the manager[+coaching staff]

Agree0 Disagree0

At 3, a good appraisal and the mention of the Malmo game?

Whittaker got sent off for an act of stupidity which no manager could have anticipated. Arms folded? Do you want Ally doing cartwheels on the side lines to show good management? To the man's credit, he never blamed a player for the result and that, in my book, is good management.

Anyway I'm glad it all happened and we've now got Wallace and not White. Life's strange.

Agree0 Disagree0

T4. / I'm glad your easily pleased. The point was that he does nothing to change tactics when things go against the team. He might not blame individual players but in the same light he cannot accept any blame himself. I must admit that I did not realise that these actions are the basis of good management.
p. s. and ten men cannot win a game against eleven!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was it not 9 men?

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 maybe he could return to question of sport and manage his team of 3 again. That was his level

Agree0 Disagree0

@4 Whittaker was sent off in the away league which we drew 1-1 the damage was done in the home league with 11 men when we lost 1-0. Remember Ally saying at the time he didn't want to change things in case the side lost another goal. Great words for fans to hear from the manager

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he is good enough but I think he should lead us to top league then move upstairs c mon gents the man has done us proud in his lifetime give him a break wins championship then moves upstairs

Agree0 Disagree0

@5 and @8 we played for over an hour with 10 men and over half an hour with 9 men in an away european tie and still battered them and by the way Jelavic should have had a pen in the first min at Ibrox it should have been a different game and before you have a go at me it doesn't sound as if you can even remember the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

@10 you sound like a Celtic fan mate with your shock have had a penalty comment. Even if it was we still shouldn't have lost 1-0 at home. As for the away league Malmo also had a man sent off and as I said it was the home leg that lost us the tie not the away one

Agree0 Disagree0

Stewie, if any one of us sound like a tim its you with your constant posts lambasting our own manager, I bet he gets less stick on our rivals sites than on here, my point was we had 9 men for half an hour and were by far the better team even with the 9.

Hi Bears. I can confirm Dave King is ready to purchase a majorty share holding in the club. The conditions of his investment are already in motion i. e. Stockbridge & shortly Jack Irvine asked to go. King ideally would like poor season ticket renewals to pick up more shares on the cheap. No player will leave in January.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - you arent telling us anything we havent discussed often on here)

Really. and who is going to sell Mr King 51% of the club. How much is he going to have to spend to buy those shares and then once he has done that he is going to dilute hios shareholding to allow for some investment in the club thus losing money. Now, I am no businessman like Mr king but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to spend £20-£30 million to buy the club then to dilute that so that he can get money to run the club. Does Dave King really want to throw another 30million of his hard earned on top of the 20 he has already lost. think those of you waiting for him to ride to the rescue may be mistaken. I think the institutional people who own the club just now will wait till the club is in the SPFL and making money and then they will just siphon all the profits away and there is nothing anybody can about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@1 Sadly, I think you are completely right

Agree0 Disagree0

Op I think somethings on the cards as regards dk n1 these shareholders are not willing to invest in the team what happens if we don't win premotion next season if we don't get to top league plus he doesn't need 51pc once he has got 30pc he needs to try buying outright maybe if dave king told us his plans he would get there a lot easier

Agree0 Disagree0

N1 if you are right there is plenty we can do about it starve them out

Agree0 Disagree0

N3. true he needs to get to 29% of the shareholding to then make an offer to buy out the other shareholders BUT they do not have to accept. It is only when he gets to 89% that the remaining shares can be purchased without the owner having much of a say in it. Now, getting to 30% will be easy enough as all the Bears will sell him the shares BUT then he runs into problems. CG told him and McColl the price of the shares if they wanted them and McColl ran a mile. If DK was so interested in buying the club why isn't he snapping up the shares that have been traded over the last month or 2 at a third of their original value, surely a better idea because if he starts buying them now then the price will rise, supply and demand. Then you expect him to put up all this money, buy the club, invest millions in the playing staff, stadium repairs etc and then to dilute his shareholding in the club to let the fans have control. sounds like Totters Independent Traders investment portfolio. In terms of withholding money and starving them out, they hold the trump cards don't they. They can sell the players, sell the training ground, sell the stadium, sell the car park and they will walk away with a tidy profit from that. Please don't be confused into thinking that the people who have invested so heavily because of the promises made to them will walk away just because you are not happy, . they don't care if you are happy or not, they only care about their investors and shareholders.

Agree0 Disagree0

N5 I know all of witch you have stated is true but how do you know that dave king has not been buying the shares recently sold through a third party cause I think we all know the last person current shareholders want buying into rangers is dave king for obvios reasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Has toxic jack been hard at work?

Just been sitting reading the Sunday papers (the Sunday mail, the sun on Sunday and the post) and I find it very strange not a single word about Stockbridge leaving the club, considering he was by far the most vilified person at Ibrox since green left I would have though a decent unbiased report on the why's and how's about the departure?

Now I know toxic has now taken the number one position in the eyes of most rangers fans why does he wield so much influence in the Scottish rags?

Does anybody know?

Still a few persons need to be moved on before rangers are anywhere near ready to deliver on the 120 day review.

Will MR Wallace come clean and tell us why (apart from the obvious incompetence) Stockbridge was moved on and will he confirm Stockbridge was paid up on his contract which amounts to the best part of 200k yet he insists that he was given no ex gratin payment or bonus, Wallace is falling into the trap unless he starts to be more open and honest with the fans after all we are not all stupid!

I look forward to what will happen next.

RR
