Firstly, I am not saying that Barry Ferguson should be the new manager, but I cannot believe all the rubbish being spoken about his record at Clyde. Do you think if Mourinho or Guardiola were in charge of Clyde, would they be top of the SPFL, and winning the Scottish Cup and League Cup? No chance. Regardless of who is in charge of Clyde, they would still be a rubbish team. That being said, I still don't believe Barry should be given the job with us. Probably a bit biased because I live in Australia, but the Aussie national team manager, Ange Postecoglou, is affordable, has his teams try to play good football, and does not take prisoners. Just an option.

28 Feb 2017 09:35:45
Do you think if Mourinho or Guardiola were in charge of Clyde they would be third bottom of the lowest tier of Scottish football?

I rated Barry very highly as a player. He behaved badly a couple of times in his career but he realises this and deeply regrets his behaviour while on a trip with the national team. I listened to him last night and he admitted he was not ready for a job the size of Rangers manager. I agree with him.

PS Heard an old interview with Ross Wilson and the guy certainly came across well.

28 Feb 2017 13:50:37
He nearly got promoted last year and has unfortunately been on a bad run of late but can't have been that bad if the players, board and fans wanted him to stay

27 Feb 2017 21:25:46
Few guys posting to get this manager or that manager in because they have contacts in the game. Is that what we're after someone with a few contacts? We need to attract players yes but we need someone with real leadership, experience and man-management knowledge. If Cammy bells statement is true today we also need a manager who is not timid nor underestimate size of our club 🇬🇧.

28 Feb 2017 08:53:05
What did Cammy Bell say?

28 Feb 2017 11:02:04
he said that warburton never understood the size of the club
if he didn't then davie weir should have.

27 Feb 2017 20:37:59
Think dk has something up his sleeve as well but I can tell you this its not money because you don't here from him or see him

27 Feb 2017 20:47:58
Arms.

27 Feb 2017 21:01:05
Primark cufflinks? All he can afford

28 Feb 2017 01:08:22
A tax bill!

28 Feb 2017 14:40:39
I dunno why everyone thinks dave king doesn't have money I mean the guys a businessman and worth 600 million. yes most will be tied up in company's but I hate hearing people slag the guy off. he's a big rangers man than had the money to get us back to the spl and done what all of us would do and risked his own money to save a club he loves.

but he's not stupid he's not going to empty his pockets for us. he had the money to do a job 4 us and he stood up to be counted. I for one appreciate everything the guy stands for how many of you if you had millions in the bank, I wonder how many would go away live in the sun or put their money where their mouth is. I trust him 100%

27 Feb 2017 20:31:14
So there saying a manager could be installed before the Celtic game, but is that a temp or is that going to be the permanent one?

28 Feb 2017 13:11:50
They didn't say which celtic Game!

27 Feb 2017 19:34:43
Fellow bears. Listen up.

No one is investing in our club. Whoever the manager is will have the same VERY limited resources as warbs did.

If there was investment coming in then MR king wouldn't be able to hold his belly.

WE ARE BLOODY SKINT.

DEAL WITH IT

27 Feb 2017 19:50:40
"as warbs did"?

12 signings last summer?

28 Feb 2017 00:40:57
I spoke to a guy in the know today who had been advising a client about investment in Rangers and his words were he managed to talk him out of it as its a non return investment and very high risk.

We are talking a guy who has tens of millions to invest and his accounts telling him Rangers are a basket case. The account is a Rangers minded man but won't advise his client to go near Rangers.
This is a sad reflection on how poor an investment opportunity Rangers have become.

An investment in Rangers is a donation. Unless its transformed into a self sustained viable business without court cases galore hanging over us and the Mike Ashtray mess sorted out investment is miles off.
What a mess

I really don't get the negativaty towards Barry Ferguson. To weigh up the pros and cons I see the positives outweighing the negatives with regards to Barry becoming our new boss, particularly if someone with the credentials of Ross Wilson is instilled as DoF.

He's a Rangers man through and through, knows the club and the expectations our support demand, his ability as a player was phenomenal and if he can transfer that ability through coaching and get one or two real top players of Barrys ilk through his influence it'd be fantastic, he's amassed an enviable network during his playing days that could really enhance our scouting and most importantly his passion for Glasgow Rangers.

Sure his record at Clyde is poor but he's a young guy cutting his teeth in management, some might see that as a negative, I certainly see it as a risk but with the right support behind him I'm confident no one in management today is better placed to be in that dressing room reminding players what playing for Rangers is all about and unlike Warburton failure would not be tolerated under Ferguson.

27 Feb 2017 19:41:43
j1985

What do you think BF will bring to the club. The answer is not being a Rangers man or giving him the job for being a Rangers man. We need to think long term before it's too late if we're not to late at present.

27 Feb 2017 19:54:50
I think people are losing the plot with the whole "rangers man" crap. Andy Halliday is a "rangers man" and he's one of our worst players. Just because you're loyal to a team means that you'll fit into the role

27 Feb 2017 20:41:26
He had bags of ability as a player, if he can translate that into coaching he'll be pivotal to player progression which has long term benefits, his contacts in the game can contribute to a wide scouting network that could see us do what Celtic have done so well in the past with the likes of Wanyama and Van Dijk, something again that benefits us long term. Being a Rangers man and knowing the club is important IMO given the obvious lack of passion shown by these players at present but the other points I made were valid however you seem to have just focused on the "Rangers man" section for whatever reason. Why wouldn't he be a good choice in your opinion btw?

27 Feb 2017 21:15:10
Again, you've only picked up on the point I mentioned about him being a Rangers man and knowing the club and the expectations, the content of my post was more than that alone.

With a good DoF in place who knows what Ferguson could achieve for us as a manager. I for one would love to see it. and not just because he's a Rangers man

27 Feb 2017 22:34:55
He's a little ned
His record at Clyde speaks for itself
He should have been sacked when he got LeGuen the boot
His behaviour on Scotland duty was ridiculous

27 Feb 2017 23:59:11
@j1985 - transfer his ability from player to manager? He never managed it at Clyde. What makes you think he can do it at Rangers? Oh aye that's right he's a ' Rangers Man '! Why don't we do something radical instead and appoint on ability?

28 Feb 2017 01:17:02
Put it this way, henrik Larsson was one of celtics best players ever and knew what it meant to play for them. But I would highly doubt any Celtic fan would want him anywhere near being their manager at any point.

Barry Ferguson was a brilliant player and showed great passion for us but so do our fans every single week. You just had to look at the Inverness game to see that. So if people think that someone passionate like ferguson will shout at the players and gee them up then they are obviously forgetting what the fans are there for.

I would much rather have someone who knows their tactics and can develop youth, two things that ferguson hasn't showed he can do yet. The main thing is to get a manager that turns the team into a structured team and plays players in their proper positions.

Instead of this crap were waghorn is on the wing when he's clearly a striker and Andy Halliday as a defensive midfielder, the list goes on. I could see ferguson as an assistant manager but that would be as big a role as I would go with him.

27 Feb 2017 15:41:39
Still can't understand why the warning signs went unnoticed and Warbs not sacked when we lost the Scottish cup 2 - 1 up with 10 mins to go.

27 Feb 2017 16:03:26
After gaining promotion, and getting to a cup final, you would have sacked him? Good old hindsight.

27 Feb 2017 18:40:57
The warning signs were there before the cup final. The performance was dire for weeks leading up to that game and although we were 2 1 up, there was always the likelihood of at least an equaliser. If we'd went to extra time we didn't have the legs, which is pretty crap for a Rangers team

27 Feb 2017 23:52:12
Promotion from a diddy league aye. And its not as much getting to the final its how did we no win it.

28 Feb 2017 15:44:20
Hi all again,
Just like to show you a post I put on yahoo sports when we lost the Scottish cup last season.
Unfortunately I feel since we qualified to the top flight, the performance is a disgrace and to lose the Scottish cup 2 - 1 up with 10 minutes to go beggars belief.
WE WILL BE RELEGATED WITH THIS TYPE OF PERFORMANCE.

Mark had it easy when we were playing part timers to finally get promotion.
However I am sorry to say, I don't think (like O'Deila was for Timco) he is up to the job in this league.
Attack attack attack and leave the back door open every time is not working for us.

As for defending set pieces, WHAT A JOKE. carry on like this and we are truly phucked again this season.
Granted it is a new squad and needs to settle in, but is it already too late for us? .
Mark will listen to NO ONE and unless he does and changes his style of play “HE” will be changed.

27 Feb 2017 12:27:21
I feel sorry for Murty. He's been thrown in the deep end with no prior experience apart from the u20s.

27 Feb 2017 12:49:29
Feeling sorry for him is a bit overdone. Nobody's blaming him and expectations weren't exactly high and his career won't get damaged due to this brief period of responsibility. Right now I just feel sorry for myself and a few hundred thousand Rangers fans around the world.

27 Feb 2017 13:05:10
Spoc if you make some redundant inside the first 2 years of hiring them you don't have too pay a penny to them

27 Feb 2017 14:09:29
People keep taking about GM and his coaching career being damaged with this short spell in charge'

The guy himself has went on record at a recent PC to state that he doesn't even know if he wants a future as a coach and that he might rather stick to behind the scenes work in developing youth.

How could this career as a youth coach be harmed with a short period in charge of a club as massive as ours?

27 Feb 2017 14:35:49
I think he's she's he's a good few years from even being able too think about becoming a manager due too the fact he's not change a thing tactically since warbs left he's playing the only system he knows and this was put upon him by warbs one system for all at auchinhowie

I'm no coach/ manager but I definitely thin our team needs 4-4-2

Fod

Tav Wilson Hill (when fit) Wallace

Forrester Hydman Toral Mackay

Miller Garner

27 Feb 2017 16:42:29
Moh for miller and we might have a chance.

28 Feb 2017 00:03:58
Murty is beginning to look like Kenny MacDowall did at the post match conference.

27 Feb 2017 06:34:39
Could the board be changing the the coaching structure as a ploy too not have too pay out on mw dw and fm contracts as they could claim they made them redundant

as employment law states after making some redundant you can't then bring someone in on the same job title right after doing so

So there for by changing from manager too coach and head of recruitment too dof the board can claim they made them redundant instead of saking them?

27 Feb 2017 08:12:06
They'd still have to pay a redundancy package.

27 Feb 2017 08:14:58
Why would they claim they had been made redundant? They resigned. If someone resigns you can fill the same vacancy.

27 Feb 2017 08:22:17
Or we are waiting for the right person? Rangers is a massive club and not just anyone can walk in and try to be the manager.

27 Feb 2017 08:42:08
Nobody was made redundant

27 Feb 2017 14:27:27
27 Feb 2017 13:05:10
Spoc if you make someone redundant inside the first 2 years of hiring them you don't have too pay a penny to them

27 Feb 2017 15:46:48
Frustratedbear - So we could just make redundant all the players that have proved failures as long as they've been employed for under two years and not have to pay them a penny?

Really?

27 Feb 2017 15:22:50
Where did you pick up they were made redundant?

27 Feb 2017 21:39:25
Naz no we could not as you can't change a players job title

Deeb I was just asking if this could be a possibility
