Thats 2 games against us, that i've been very impressed with livingston striker lyndon dykes. As well as being big, powerful and strong, he has a turn of pace, so what's not to like here fellow bears. Like many fellow bears on here, i've always said we do need another striker, in the event of morelos or defoe getting injured. Also if we can sign a different type of striker, it would open up other options to us, during games. We have seen big strong target men types of strikers mentioned on here many times, like sam cosgrove of aberdeen, eamon brophy kilmarnock, ikpeazu hearts etc. But i reckon to what i've seen so far big dykes could yet be the better of any of them i mentioned. I actually agree with mccoist that we should keep an eye on dykes, especially as he would do a good job within the scottish game.
Thoughts guys?
26 Sep 2019 21:50:39
I've said it till I am blue in the face (spot the joke) . We need a big bustling, bullying forward as part of our armoury. In my opinion that would be the last part of the jigsaw. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS THE FAMOUS.
26 Sep 2019 23:27:46
Every single one of those players mentioned, including Dykes, is a total donkey mate. Target men also struggle to play without a strike partner as they aren’t mobile enough and don’t see us playing two up top any time soon.
27 Sep 2019 00:06:12
We have a bullying, bustling type. His name is Alfredo Morelos.
27 Sep 2019 00:57:43
We already have stewart as a 3rd striker. don't need anymore below average players coming through the door.
27 Sep 2019 01:21:37
I might be wrong but is Brophy not a midget?
27 Sep 2019 07:06:30
Dykes looks a decent player and he made Goldson and Helander look pretty ordinary.
27 Sep 2019 07:46:04
I’d take Dykes in a minute he’s strong, bit of speed, his touch is god and we need another striker Defoe is getting on a bit if anything happened to Morelos or Defoe we’re left with one not what a club of our size should be happy with.
27 Sep 2019 08:09:52
Dykes gave our CB’s a rougher time but I don’t think that’s a measure of a good striker! 13 goals in over 100 games for Queen of The South? No thanks.
27 Sep 2019 09:57:18
Yes, like Shankland, Hardie, etc.
27 Sep 2019 09:58:24
My thoughts blue 89. The swagman, not mobile enough, did u not see dykes turn of pace over both games he's definitely mobile enough. Good enough is another matter, however look at the amount of crosses tav and barisic put in the box, a big target msn in certain games would get s few for us.
27 Sep 2019 10:03:01
macdoj
I agree but maybe it says more about our centre backs than Dykes.
27 Sep 2019 10:37:46
Agree DEEB. Goldson and Helander are pretty ordinary!
Katic first choice for me.
27 Sep 2019 12:07:10
Folk wanting us to sign him are the same folk who thought Louis Moult was the next Zlatan. We’ve had enough of mediocre players, we’re still trying to get more out the door. We don’t need someone with a strike rate of worse than 1 in 9 if those stats above are true.
27 Sep 2019 12:27:26
Dykes has scored 22 goals in 122 games since 2016. At Q. O. S and Livingston. Think we have to look at a better standard of player than that.
26 Sep 2019 20:37:10
Just read a statement from the Union Bears,
The Union Bears support the safe use of pyrotechnics inside and outside football stadiums.
Seriously? Anyone using them should be banned from stadiums. No place for them in grounds and even more so when it is drink and drug fueled morons that do it.
26 Sep 2019 20:42:34
Safe use and pyrotechnics in the same sentence, says it all really.
26 Sep 2019 21:11:59
The Union Bears continue to bring shame on us all. Ban the lot of them and we will rapidly improve our image across the football world. I am lost for words!
26 Sep 2019 21:30:11
I agree if they are coming out with this stupid stuff just ban the lot of them.
Arrest the perpetrators and let the court deal with them. Club just ban them.
That's my take.
26 Sep 2019 21:53:41
What has happened to simply supporting your team. What is this nonsense all about.
26 Sep 2019 22:51:45
No need in the pyrotechnics had my son at the football and the loud bang smoke bombs ect actually had him scared. I can’t imagine what kids right next to them would be like don’t see the need and as for safe use they aren’t that concerned with throwing them into fellow rangers fans.
27 Sep 2019 09:18:00
The Union Bears are just a bunch of buckfast fuelled fuds. Sooner we get shot of them the better. Only a matter of time before a flare blinds someone. The police need to step up a bit with searches as well.
27 Sep 2019 09:48:52
you can get 3 months for even attempting to take one into a stadia. Personally i'd make it a year. smoke bombs can cause serious ashthma attacks etc, and flares are just downright dangerous.
of course the union bears know better and think themselves above the law or common decency and spoil it for everyone else.
Time to get tough on them. they will never learn.
27 Sep 2019 09:59:54
You can spot them a mile off at away games. Fake football casuals blootered and out there face. They hardly even concentrate on the actual football.
27 Sep 2019 12:10:01
UB are absolute morons. Simple as. Total bams using football as an excuse to behave as such. All they do is bring shame and embarrassment on our club. The board need to act to disband them.
And don’t come on and defend the “atmosphere” they create. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 30 years, since before half of those wee idiots were born, there was never any issue with an atmosphere before UB and there certainly won’t be after.
27 Sep 2019 12:35:03
And yet the club you want to ban them from are quite willing to use their tifo’s in promotions when it suits them?
And who made you lot Judge, Jury and Executioner in who can and can’t follow follow Rangers?
Everyone, Anyone?
Must be great to be holier than thou🙏😇.
27 Sep 2019 12:53:27
They're expressing an opinion letsgo! there's a big difference between the club using organised (safe) pyrotechnics and the union bears doing it.
26 Sep 2019 18:41:40
Will the Porto game at home be on public sale?
26 Sep 2019 20:24:00
Season ticket holders will get first opportunity on their seats then the rest go public after their deadline.
26 Sep 2019 21:26:45
I thought the tickets were sold as a package? Mine cost £110!
27 Sep 2019 00:07:50
Yes you can buy the package.
27 Sep 2019 00:59:00
Dunbar blue. Not all packages were sold so singles available.
26 Sep 2019 14:28:48
Another cup semi-final.
Another win.
Another clean sheet.
And yet.
Another poor game on a poor surface against a physical side.
It gives another chance for the self-entitled Rangers fans to appear.
WE SHOULD be winning 4 or 5 nil.
WE SHOULD be deciding who plays in defence.
We SHOULD be questioning the team selection again.
When Gerrard changes the team he's accused of tinkering too much.
When he doesn't, he's accused of favouritism!
Since when did supporting the team become all about slaughtering them on a game by game basis?
Or having scapegoats because your perceived opinion of a player is better than the manager?
The same manager we will chase out the door if he picks your favourites but results don't go our way.
The fickle fans who were willing to give Morelos away in the summer because of his temperament.
Now we don't hear a peep because he hasn't been booked in the league this campaign so far.
The same fans who weren't willing to give Barisic a chance and stick with Halliday.
Now after a run of games, can see there is definitely something there in the CROATIAN INTERNATIONAL.
Tav was last years moan, now it appears Goldson is first pick.
All because the less experienced, still naïve at times Katic has started the season well.
But we all love Katic's blood and thunder, so we'll forgive the odd misplaced pass.
Whereas we still can't forgive Goldson giving the ball away against Celtic, can we?
Even though Edouard ran away from Katic to score.?
The beauty of this forum is the chance for us all to vent our opinions and frustrations.
Without the nonsense that other Rangers / Celtic related forums have.
But this season alone we've had threads questioning the managers position after 4 league games!
Character assassination of players after a couple of games in the jersey!
Nobody is above constructive criticism.
But let's try and keep it positive.
We've reached the Europa League Groups - won our first game.
Reached the semi-finals of the first cup.
And sit 2nd in the league with a long way to go.
Keep the Faith!
26 Sep 2019 16:14:08
Let’s go great post.
26 Sep 2019 17:42:58
Letsgo great post but the point of a forum is to express views it was my view that Helander was really poor last night I'm not convinced he's worth £3m
But that is my opinion Kazmania thought different last night as is his right but many others agreed with my assertion
Your posts are always well thought out and well presented to the forum but you have to concede every poster here is entitled to a view that may not align with yours but it doesn't mean they are wrong
Bottom line we're all wanting the same thing for our club
Keep posting mate they are a great read👍.
26 Sep 2019 18:30:37
@bluebluesea - that's the beauty of this site, we are all entitled to our opinions.
It's just last season we moaned when we lost certain games.
This season we are moaning when we are winning the same games!
So while others wallow into their half glass empty ( and that's their prerogative ) I'll raise my glass half full. 👍.
26 Sep 2019 21:39:08
LETSGO! _55 Great post and I'm tending to agree with nearly all your points, however I am pretty certain Hellander must have put his boots on the wrong feet last night because he looked hopeless. I agree he certainly looked good against Feyenoord though.
Ally said on the commentary last night that the centre backs has been bullied by the big Livingston striker in both games which I agree they were given a torrid time but it was Golston and Katic in the league game I think?
26 Sep 2019 23:58:50
Yes let’s go . we need more positivity on this site . that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.
26 Sep 2019 13:53:06
Think bad feedback from last night's game misdirected. Playing against five at back on crap surface produced a win. Not pretty, but a win. Last season we would have been liking wounds. Still believe Hellander a player just needs time. Also believe Katic needs to be viewed as #1 CH.
26 Sep 2019 15:21:00
Agree Millerb, only criticism I have is I thought most of our passing was pretty poor compared to Livies.
26 Sep 2019 15:47:43
MBW - none of our guys got pass marks for me - it was a bad performance (Greegs did what he does mind you) Goldson just cannot play on plastic, we are 2 years in and he still looks like Bambi on ice! Passes were going astray, finishing when we got chances was woeful, there seemed to be a lack of urgency. And as I've said before on here I don't think we can play so many games one after the other at the pace SG is asking them to play.
Positive is, as others have said we may have dropped points there previously! They are a big very strong fit team who will give others a hard time at home.
26 Sep 2019 13:38:50
Last night was papering over the cracks, AGAIN, can't see this team win anything. Defence not good enough
except for McGregor. Midfield too alike, they do not shoot enough from outside the box (something the mhanky mob are good at ) Up front we spent money on Ryan Kent, when i think the money would have been better spent on a big target man, especially playing lesser teams on a tight plastic pitch. What do yous guys think?
26 Sep 2019 14:24:13
Utter rubbish is what I think. As in your post that is. A week ago we beat a strong Feyenoord team. Could have should have been 4 nil up at half time. 4 second half goals against Saints followed less than 3 days later. Oh and we won last night. 3 wins no goals conceded in 3 different competitions in 6 days.
26 Sep 2019 15:30:13
I actually agree with that. Our mf don't have enough shots on goal. I think either King or Doherty needs a run. I like Davis and Jack but there both too similar. We don't have a box to box midfielder.
26 Sep 2019 17:06:32
Davis and jack complement one another a lot. No idea where this sense of negativity is coming from as Kfraser says; 3 wins in 6 days and 3 clean sheets. That is very good form.
Another win at the weekend and it will have been a massive 10 days for us.
26 Sep 2019 13:09:54
what an incentive for our manager to win 2 trebles back to back or at least 2 titles back to back. Liverpool are waiting and watching . success at ibrox brings the ultimate prize. manager of his boyhood club. let's do this SG. deliver your dream. #55 and #56 awaits.
26 Sep 2019 17:07:01
Lets focus on winning 1 title first.
26 Sep 2019 19:14:08
I'm sure Stevie was a boyhood Everton fan but I know what you mean!
27 Sep 2019 00:03:46
Yea blue sash voice your opinion definitely but throwing negative scorn just for the sake of it helps nothing . we are in the semi final if first cup on offer . are ahead in our europa league group . only one game behind the smells and to read your post you would think we were bottom of league. oh dear.
26 Sep 2019 10:57:51
Its true, some of our players are off form but we are still winning. Is that not a positive? Although we are underperforming a bit, I still can't see anyone beating us. Be patient bears!
26 Sep 2019 13:58:07
Celtic have already beaten us,
26 Sep 2019 16:07:40
Have they? Aw, I must've missed that!
27 Sep 2019 00:07:14
No we beat ourselves against them . They produced a master class in killing a game if football. Never seen anything like it . From first whistle to last . about 8 of there players down with cramp whenever we had the ball . No press reporting that though lol.
26 Sep 2019 10:54:04
I can honestly say hand on heart that I have never really had any feelings about Neil Lennon. In fact I would say I have felt sorry for him throughout some of the stuff he has had to endure. The way he has conducted himself the past week has been exemplary. He has gathered respect from many of the Rangers family. So I call on all Bears to show the man the respect that he deserves. Neil Lennon will no doubt, show us the same in return.
26 Sep 2019 11:15:27
Good man. I'm obviously a Celtic fan and lennons passion does get him in trouble but as should be he showed a ton of respect for a fellow warrior in Rickson and looked genuinely upset about it. Obviously the blue and green divide didn't exist for him when it came to the loss of Fernando Rickson I was actually really proud of him for it.
26 Sep 2019 14:02:07
What a load of dribble! He brought most of it on himself with his actions over the years including spitting on a rangers scarf at Ibrox. He’s a piece of garbage.
26 Sep 2019 14:09:10
We all bleed the same and it's a game of football. religious differences cause enough trouble without it surfacing at sad times. I don't believe any of us no matter what team we support would pass by and not help someone in trouble no matter the top they wear to a match. . rip Fernando. gone but not forgotten 😢.
26 Sep 2019 16:06:45
So football banter deserves bombs sent, bullets sent and being physically and verbally assaulted? You call on human decency to be told you are talking 'dribble' (don't know if that was meant to be drivel? ) .
27 Sep 2019 09:41:41
Never had any feelings but felt sorry!
26 Sep 2019 10:17:18
Two great performances within 6 days before last night. I haven't seen the score yet but going by the criticism posted how many did we lose by?
26 Sep 2019 09:59:02
Just want to say one thing about last night, even though I could say a lot.
Gerrard stated 'we are bombarded with long balls' Now if there is one player in that squad who eats up long balls its katic. I get he payed a lot of helander but, you play first to your own strengths, then to the opposition, to the conditions, the pitch.
That whole game from start to finish was built for a no nonsense defender. A defender that just wins the ball, nothing fancy nothing clever just gets it up the park.
You can blame goldson aswell but he looked like he was getting into bother everytime he was caught out by tav going forward, where as helander even with BB next to him was a bombscare.
26 Sep 2019 10:16:14
A 3rd consecutive clean sheet with that back 4.
26 Sep 2019 10:36:19
@dunfermlineloyal - most sensible post on here and overlooked going by the over the top criticism as per usual after one game. 👍.
26 Sep 2019 10:40:17
Ye they got away with it today on that plastic pitch be better Katic besides Goldson . Hellander not suited to it not the fastest either.
26 Sep 2019 12:14:01
Aye I thought in the other games Helander did look a bit short of pace. Never mind, it didn't do Davie Weir any harm?
I think people forget that we won the game against a tough team on a poor surface. Aye it wasn't pretty but c'mon, we would have been losing these games over the past few seasons! Everybody is raving about the other lot and their brilliant win. Let"s not forget they were playing the championship's worse team at home, a team in transition.
Let's just keep the heid. We came through it with some lumps, bumps and bruises and I, for one, am looking forward to humping Hearts in the semi final.
26 Sep 2019 12:25:58
If that back 4 didn't have macgregor behind them to cover the mistakes then it wouldn't be. Am not saying helander is a bad player, its like BB he needs games. But last night he was having a stinker, and we had a man on the bench who is built for these type of games.
26 Sep 2019 17:10:45
Im sure when we have played different back 4's McGregor has still be there though so not really sure what point your making there.
I like the look of helander looks a solid commanding defender however doesn't look like he wants to be dragged wide or into a race.
27 Sep 2019 09:46:33
fintytint how many times did McGregor save them last night? In total he's had three or four good saves to make in 270 minutes, all in a day's work for him and what he's paid to do.
26 Sep 2019 08:02:15
Apart from our 2 Centre backs being mince last night, it was very noticeable they are slower than a week in jail. This will cost us this season if SG keeps them both on together.
26 Sep 2019 10:09:48
What was the final result?
26 Sep 2019 10:16:11
We’ve shown we can blow teams away, we’ve shown we can defend against a passing team like Feyenoord, we’ve shown we can win against a long ball team who put the boot in.
Not every game is going to be a breeze!
26 Sep 2019 12:15:44
Spot on 87. That was a difficult game against a tough opponent on a crap surface. Let's put things into perspective and panickus notickus.
26 Sep 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 24th September 2019
26 Sep 2019 02:23:06
I fell asleep after 45 mins into that match just glad we are through that Swedish guy needs out the team put katic back in anyone know if Kent is ok for the European game that's 3 games missed.
26 Sep 2019 02:39:30
Last 2 games helander been class. Goldson been honkin since tail end last season. Maybe he should drop out?
26 Sep 2019 09:52:36
Rangers were terrible last night against a team with zero funds to buy players. Rangers should have a team like that pinned against the wall, but instead Rangers were under pressure and were lucky to fluke the goal and not concede. The signs are there and not just in last nights game, we are not going to win anything this year unless the team bucks its ideas up dramatically.
No convinced by SG team selections either. We struggle to create chances, been this way for months. Last night Ohno alias Ojo, and Arfield were anonymous, could have taken them off the park and it would have made little difference. Moreloes was left isolated with no service as usual. All in all, a VERY poor performance against a mediocre side.
26 Sep 2019 10:00:06
At least we all know that katic is the best CB we have, let's hope gerrard doesn't ruin him by not playing him. 👍.
26 Sep 2019 10:24:29
The manager has said its horses for courses. If that’s the case we knew about the big no 9 being a big physical guy so why didn’t Katic get shout for this one. We won the game and that’s the main thing. I've nothing against big Goldson the big fella has been great signing but he appears to be undroppable.
26 Sep 2019 11:42:35
Have to agree Coldo, Katic is by far the best CB at Ibrox, I would also like to see young Edmundson given more game time, If Goldson gets picked to play against the 🐑 on Saturday, He must do better with his distribution off the ⚽️Or he has to be dropped, 🏴🇦🇺.
26 Sep 2019 12:00:21
Katic isn’t the best CH, he is only the inform CH at the minute. 👍.
26 Sep 2019 12:27:23
LETSGO 55. If as you say he’s the only inform CH. Why is he not playing, And why is Goldson keeping his place, When lately he has been 💩. 🏴🇦🇺👍.
26 Sep 2019 12:36:29
When Edmundson was given his brief appearance by SG I actually thought he was good, a very promising player who could pass the ball and defend. Why has SG shut the door in his face?
26 Sep 2019 13:09:21
@cunny - we’re not the Rangers manager. 👍 We only have an opinion.
And at the end of the day we won the game. 👍.
26 Sep 2019 14:25:40
LETSGO 55 A’s I have seen from previous post, You wanted Katic to be playing, Yes we are not SG, Yes we won the game, Have a nice day Fellow Blue Nose 🏴🇦🇺👍.
