I meant to add to my last post that if we win the Scottish Cup this year, we will qualify for the third qualifying round of the Europa League next season. Rangers are currently 100/30 with William Hill to win the cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We would not qualify for Europe as we don't have 3 year's audited acconts

Agree0 Disagree0

I know the restriction due to audited accounts not being published runs to 2015 but my understanding is an appeal is possible if they did qualify, especially if King has wrested control of the club by then.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's down to the discretion of the SFA I'm led to believe

Agree0 Disagree0

Steady on "Crawl before walk" I think.

OP. Not according to Radio Scotland last night who stated absolutely categorically that whatever happens Rangers can't qualify for Europe next season - and yes I know Chic Young & co aren't always accurate but if there was the chance I'm sure Ally or somebody would have mentioned it but I haven't heard a peep.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doiger its at no ones discretion no appeal or nothing its the rules three years audited accounts needed to play in Europe king is not pumping 50 million into rangers 30 million I am led to beleive and what makes you think we will finish in European spots the squad is nowhere near good enough as for the manager he is clueless but your ambitious thinking is good

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really want us to qualify for Europe next season!cmon really!this has got to be a sick joke.

Agree0 Disagree0

The SFA, along with any FA have the power to nominate a club to participate in european competition even without 3 years accounts. I don't want the dispensation as we will never hear the end of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

N6 dave king said he would put 30million of his own money plus he has 20 million from small shareholers thus the 50 million figure

If Dave King does succeed and pump up to £50m into Rangers that would put funds in place for a few years. With season ticket revenue, increased TV money once we are back in the SPL and then European money again (even if it is Europa League initially) then things will look promising. Even clubs at the qualifying stages of the CL will get something like £1.5m and getting to the group stages of the CL could net £7m or £8m. Europa League money is less. I know all of that is some way off but I don't think we need to invest in overpaid players to win the Championship or indeed the SPL (hopefully in 2015/16). King's money will be used not just for players but for a new scouting system to bring on young players (without Ally as manager I hasten to add). It would be good to have a commercial director who could then start to generate more money from marketing and other activities aimed at spreading the Rangers brand into Asia and North America. So let's not condemn or embrace King until we see what happens next. He has put the Board in a position where they must respond so finally we may have someone who genuinely wishes to put his money where his mouth is for the cause of Rangers (unlike Whyte, Green and others). WATP.

Whilst I admire your optimism, and hope you are right in all you say, there is one thing you missed out. Let's not forget Ally and his European qualifying debacles of the past. You mention group stages of the CL?, in my view DK will have to remove the current manager and his cronies if CL group stages are even to be dreamed about.

Agree0 Disagree0

IF the people who own the club are willing to dilute their investment to allow King to put money into the club. Also what does he want from them, a controlling stake, hhmm, can't see any of the hedge funds agreeing to that. Strange though, that all of this happens now, not last year when the club needed investment, not when the club was going bust, not when it needed money to avoid liquidation but NOW, just about the time the season tickets are due! Still, good luck with this, £50million, looks like a moonbeam to me!

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely Ayr bear. because dk says he is going to pump the money in does not mean he will. sceptical I am!however if he does would you want ally with that sort of cash given his track record and tactics. agree totally. ally would have to be removed first

Agree0 Disagree0

Ur right ihave said over and over till there is money on the table and not in the media its pie in the sky that's the stark fact the only way to get rid of present regime is buy them out

Agree0 Disagree0

N1 and n3 the post does say without ally as manager

Agree0 Disagree0

While I love to hear all the good things about money being pumped into the club etc. let's not forget that all of these guys (including DK) are businessmen and did not earn their money simply to let their heart throw it away. All of them, including DM, said all the right things to the supporters about loyalty, passion, love the club etc. All the sentiments the supporters want and let's be honest, the majority let their hearts rule their head when it comes to the club. Maybe I'm being sceptical but at the end of the day any investor wants a return on his money and that means control of any assets so that they can at least recoup their money if it all goes down the pan (look at CW, totally dependant on Ally staying in Europe!) Hope I am wrong but I can't see any majors investing in the current product.

Seems that after Mr Kings 'exclusive' we are back to the regulatory response of blind euphoria amongst our support. Now before I'm accused of 'doom and gloom' (as seems to be the usual response to caution) why not take a different approach this time around.
By all means feel free to get your Rangers jammies on but maybe you could hold off on jumping straight into bed with Mr King. Might be worth exercising a bit of caution for a change. Who knows, he may be a gentleman who wants a bit of courtship before trying to get into your jammies.
Just a thought

Absoluetly right OP. I'm guradedly optismistic but a few things about Dave King still don't stack up for me. And I thought he wasn't leaving until everything had been sorted out.

Agree0 Disagree0

At last someone with some common sense. When the club was liquidated and had to start again there was the potential to rid yourself of this kind of powermonger. Rangers should rebuild on a sustainable model where you spend less than you make and you are not relying on the generosity of some guy who loves the attention. This feels like another of those, you spend £5 we will spend £10 and everybody knows where that ended up. King was one of the ones who was involved in the last debarcle and contrary to what he says, he did invest £20Mmillion but he got £17 of that back. shady character.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2. tell the truth, if you are going to post. DK technically got tax relief on 17m of the investment. That is not the same as getting a return on his original investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

I said a while ago he got the best part of his money bback the club being totally owned by supporters would not work either it does need a major shareholder along with supporters shareholdings or no agreement on anything would be reached

Agree0 Disagree0

2/3. I assume the £20m was a loan to the club. Was it paid back in full as I did not notice DK or his companies shown in the list of creditors? In fact I do not re-collect the £20m appearing in the accounts.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - it was not a loan, was part of a share issue)

Thanks Ed039, so if DK had shares in his name, or others, he had voting rights directly or otherwise?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - of course)
