Ross McCrorie?

Can we have a sensible debate. My opinion is he is not tall or wide enough to be a Rangers centre back. He is not technically gifted and his passing and vision from what I've seen up to now is not Rangers class. What he has is a 6 foot frame, he can tackle and head. He is very mobile with a good engine.

So where does he fit. I just wonder if SG and his team know he will not fit into a top class Rangers team in midfield or center back and think RB may be an option and the Portsmouth trial maybe a test to see if he can do it. Could he be the next Alan Hutton. Long way to go I know. Just because we love him doesn't make him a future star but fingers crossed.

25 Oct 2019 20:41:33
I think he's vastly underrated as a holding midfield player. He's not a kamara who's going to hold the ball or a Davis who's going to thread killer passes but in the heat of battle when it comes to an old fashioned scrap he's a warrior.

25 Oct 2019 21:26:50
Hes a midfielder for rangers so unsure why you are going on about centre back. Since gerrard been at the club he's always been a midfielder.

25 Oct 2019 21:27:12
Holding mid is his best position. Has the heart of a lion and is a better player than given credit for.

25 Oct 2019 21:52:37
My gut feel is holding midfielder when we’re in a battle, Old Firms, Aberdeen and Inverness / Ross County on a cold Tuesday night. He’s a battler who gives everything for the shirt.

I’m open minded to him playing right back, we’d need to manage our expectations though. He’d be a defender through and through, we’d be stronger at the back but weaker going forward. It’s all about Balance to the team.

25 Oct 2019 21:55:34
I agree J-Zer, MCrorie, can't hold the ball or thread a killer pass which is why he isn't in the Rangers team. Its a bit of an antiquated term in modern game, most SPL teams have this type of warrior player and because of there lack of skill they end up with red/ yellow cards and never progress. A Rangers warrior IMO is anybody in the team who gives 120% with nothing left on the pitch, brave in the pass and respect for the the opposition which includes playing within the rules of acceptable challenges.

26 Oct 2019 07:03:09
I would say he’s a DM but whether he can get into our midfield down the line is another question only time will tell, I like most of us want him to do well and get in the side but we felt the same for docherty and he can’t get near squad never mind the side. This is as strong a gers squad we have now as we ve had in a very long time.

26 Oct 2019 07:37:23
speaking of old fashioned TJBB i believe every rangers player shd give 120% with nothing left every time they pull on the jersey

i agree with your ‘warrior’ point and I actually like the lad mcrorie and think he cld do a job for us but at as a big powerful agressive holding mid who breaks up play and attacks the ball in both boxes

but he has a job on his hands with davo jack kamara arfiejd aribo ahead of him centrally as our midfield was superb thurs night - so proud of our attitude work rate &
application - we kept the ball for long spells 2nd half against top drawer opposition better than I’ve seen for a long time.

26 Oct 2019 11:19:51
Agree trev, our midfield was super, very proud of that performance. Our play was off the charts. 👍.

26 Oct 2019 12:43:23
i am sad to say i don't think he will be in our starting 11 barring injuries etc. i too like him and wish better for him since he is one of us, however sentiments aside we have better and will have better. i don't believe he will get a new contract, hope i'm wrong but can't see it. just my opinion though.

26 Oct 2019 15:11:54
Paul86. don't really know what your point is. i'm not going on and why are you limiting RMs playing history to just when SG started.

26 Oct 2019 19:53:15
To add to my argument for Ross having a future, having him sitting in middle of the park it allows others around him to be braver in attack and therefore strenghtens our hand in that we have that option of using him against teams that would put us under pressure.

25 Oct 2019 20:11:10
Both Rangers and Celtic make it to the last 16 Europa League then 2020 season two teams from the league will have a champions League place the Greeks are not far ahead in 15th place.

25 Oct 2019 20:41:11
Andy. 2020/ 21.

25 Oct 2019 21:01:00
It’s based on a few factors mate not just both halves of old firm getting to last 16.
We need our sides to get as many points as possible to boost the Coefficient obviously but it also depends on how well the teams from the other countries do.
Currently we are sitting in 19th place and need to get to 15th.
We have 2 sides improving our chances of collecting more points.
Here is the nations around us
14th Denmark 1 team left 26.5
15th Greece 1 team left 25.3
16th Cyprus 1 team left 25.0
17th Serbia 2 teams 24.750
18th Croatia 1 team left 24.625
19th Scotland 2 sides left 23.875
20th Switzerland 3 teams 22.0
Points system
1. Each team gets two points for a win and one point for a draw (points are halved for matches in the qualifying and play-off rounds) .
2. Clubs that reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Champions League, or the quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Europa League, are awarded an extra point for each round.
3. In addition, four points are awarded for participation in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League and four points for qualifying for the round of 16.

25 Oct 2019 21:44:23
Meant to say any point (s) either of old firm gain is solo between 4 as that’s how many clubs we had in Europe this season. So a draw in group equals 0.25 points and a win 0.5 some of the nations above had 5 representatives do split their additional points by 5.

I was reading an article today about the possibility of Celtic being sanctioned in the europa for the use of a banner with derogatory swearing in Italian during the Lazio match, whilst reading through the rules of why they could face a sanction i noticed the rules clearly state that there's no use of any banners allowed with inciting hatred and political, religious ideology etc upon reading this I couldn't help but reminisce of the massive giant pope banner being used by the legia Warsaw fans and couldn't figure out why no sanctions were seeked on this matter due to it breaking europa sanction rules on many levels, does anyone know any reason whatsoever that this MASSIVE banner has seemingly gone unmentioned? Or has it? Thanks.

25 Oct 2019 17:47:02
They also had a banner in the style of the terrorist group Brigate Rosse. They were responsible for the kidnap and murder of the Italian priminister. I hope they are hounded for this. They are not shy in putting the boot into Rangers. It was 100% pure provocation. Nothing more nothing less!

25 Oct 2019 17:56:44
Also most than likely endangering their fans that travel to Rome for the away leg too. Don't think the Lazio lot will forget, revenge more than likely will be harsher than a few sweary words on a banner. Think I'd be watching the game from the local if I was that lot.

25 Oct 2019 18:00:11
To answer the original question though, probably was an attempt to provoke with the pope banner. However if it is acknowledged as such then that would be an acceptance by uefa that rangers see him as a hate figure. Not a great look for the club tbh.

25 Oct 2019 18:34:45
Apparently the Pope is not a political figure in the eyes of Uefa/ Fifa.

25 Oct 2019 19:32:08
Lazio ultras are well known. once they invaded the dressing room unopposed to lecture the players on performance.

25 Oct 2019 20:53:05
Wasn't while di canio was in charge was it? Crazy mofo probably joined in 🤣🤣.

25 Oct 2019 16:58:28
Fantastic result last night lads, I think wee kent is going to become a superstar. But I still don't understand why people on here have go at each other.

25 Oct 2019 16:12:21
Was that the same Sadiq, (big flop for us) playing for Partizan last night against Man Utd?
Surely not? He looked a monster.

25 Oct 2019 17:09:55
He looked ok.

25 Oct 2019 23:05:19
Ok? you having a laugh!

25 Oct 2019 11:41:44
Think the boy barker done well last night considering he's hardly played this season due to injuries. He worked very hard helping the full backs and seemed very disciplined in his performance. Would like to see him get a wee run in team, who knows he might be a better option than ojo.

25 Oct 2019 12:48:51
Well he's our player, whilst Ojo who's obviously talented is only a loanee and might not have the same appetite for the cause. 👍.

25 Oct 2019 13:16:26
He is a better option than ojo, everyday of the week. 👍.

25 Oct 2019 13:24:17
Aye that’s true mr poppy.

25 Oct 2019 16:51:09
Using the same thesis, did Kent not show anything for cause last season? Or Defoe, or Davis?

25 Oct 2019 17:02:42
There was a difference dk, we didn't have as big a squad. Loads more options this year if players are off form 👍 do u ever post anything constructive, all u seem to do is come on to snipe and argue with anybody who has a different opinion from you. Grow up man.

25 Oct 2019 17:14:49
Kent can't have been fully fit but plays without fear and has that little touch of class about him. Was loving watching him last night.

25 Oct 2019 18:39:49
I was talking about further down the line DK19 when the going gets a bit tougher and I think Kent's attempted Haymaker at Brown showed he'd an appetite for the cause by then last season!
Defoe and Davis are also seasoned pros and model professionals - you don't get to their level in the game by letting your standards slip. 👍.

25 Oct 2019 19:36:41
55, I have no issue with other people’s opinions and agree that from time to time some of our players and the team do not perform but I take issue with the agenda against some players.

I also question why some of our fans clearly think our manager is clueless because he regularly picks those players who are “hopeless”

So, I have a different view from you and a few others but that is not constructive?

26 Oct 2019 00:23:28
It's the way you word your posts. It's not debate its always put across a dig, like everybody else is wrong and you know best 👍.

25 Oct 2019 11:07:04
Lets be honest guys, we've all been blown away by how morelos has got even better this season, in some stunning performances and goals of course, this early in the season. I really do wonder now what valuation we'd put on him, if we were to accept any big money bid for him? Being realistic, what's our valuation of morelos, for a buying club interested in signing him? What is the least we should accept and what, again realistically is the most we should ask for him? This will be very interesting, all our different valuations of alfredo.

25 Oct 2019 11:26:19
I would say between 20 and 25 million but with a sell on clause as well. .

25 Oct 2019 12:36:31
£20 million with a 10% sell on clause.

25 Oct 2019 12:44:05
A class act last night. Now that he's staying on the pitch for 90 minutes 30 million.

25 Oct 2019 12:46:37
Would any of you sell him before the summer? I certainly would not, we have a great chance to win the league without him our chances diminish.

25 Oct 2019 12:49:40
I would also be worried about losing Barisic. 👍.

25 Oct 2019 13:48:31
We don't know what's being said to Alfie about possible transfers, but personally I think if we accept a bid in January, then the league is gone, we need him for the whole season whichever way it finishes.

25 Oct 2019 15:47:38
If fredo keeps going the way he is, he'll break the scottish transfer fee record👍.

25 Oct 2019 15:48:09
Agreed sell him in jan and league is done.

25 Oct 2019 16:02:35
Best player in the league by a country mile, scores for fun, prolific in Europe, Colombian international and his best years ahead of him. not a penny under 30 million with a sell on clause.

25 Oct 2019 17:04:30
If somebody wants him in Jan 20m with s sell on. I'd also be wanting him left here on loan from rest of season. We can't lose him ✌.

25 Oct 2019 18:11:13
I said on here several months ago that a fee of £30m was realistic. I think that is now the minimum considering modern prices for goalscorers. Hope he doesn't leave though!

25 Oct 2019 11:03:11
Once jordan jones is fit. Him kent and morelos front 3 will terrorise defenders. givs arfield chance to slot back into midfield with jack and davis. Kamara not a patch on how he was last season for us.

25 Oct 2019 17:04:59
Thought kamara was excellent last night.

25 Oct 2019 17:29:11
I thought kamara was great aswell👍.

25 Oct 2019 19:48:09
Jones will be a bit-player in this team, nothing more.

25 Oct 2019 21:28:55
Daisy yore i think he will play his part. he's definitely better than stewart and barker anyway. Kent on the left then i guess u have an option of about 5 for the right hand side.

25 Oct 2019 21:36:14
Jones is a big game player with a bit of devilment in him and I think he has a big part to play this season if given a chance.

25 Oct 2019 08:29:44
Great performance and result last night. Need to win next 5 games before international break and will be in domestic cup final, top of SPL and within touching distance of Europa qualification.

25 Oct 2019 10:59:21
We only need 6 points from 3 games in europa. not sure you can go out on 10 points.

25 Oct 2019 11:05:07
So true Bankie! We have a tough away schedule coming up and must kick on now. We've proven numerous times we have the ability within the team, to win the league, consistency has been our downfall.

25 Oct 2019 16:52:09
Paul86, depending on the results sequence, you can indeed go out with ten points, not that it's going to happen!

25 Oct 2019 17:06:56
We could go through from this group with 8 or 9 depending on results. Everybody taking points off each other.

25 Oct 2019 07:57:33
Remember everybody, this was a team that reached the CL Q/ F last season and we made them look ordinary at times.

25 Oct 2019 08:27:32
Thats what happens seeker when you play you better players👍.

25 Oct 2019 09:41:25
Barker? 😂 It was horses for courses. 👍
Plus our number one CH was on the bench. 😉.

25 Oct 2019 10:32:58
I said better not best, but cheers for the bite UJ😉👍.

25 Oct 2019 10:52:58
Better / Best - you say tomato, I say tomato! 🤣.

25 Oct 2019 10:58:04
You have said a lot of things to be fair, the big names are still waiting on you to produce the goods🤷‍♂️🤣👍.

25 Oct 2019 11:07:22
Seeker they may have maybe it to the QF last season but they sold their key player in João filx. Not taken anything away from last night we did make them look like a team that's lossing the battle. But the play from our midfield at times was world class. We have missed jack ( although his error lead to their goal what a goal that was ) but overall great result and I'm sure we can beat them in a full house at home.

25 Oct 2019 11:15:28
I like big katic but wouldn't say he's our number one centre half Mr Poppy. Our manager certainly doesn't think either, that he's our number one centre half. I think katic will longterm be a good centre half for us, but still has a bit to learn imo. Last night proved why filip helander plays in the big games in Europe. I still think that gerrard sees goldson and helander as his no.1 centre half pairing, as it gives the backline much more balance.

25 Oct 2019 12:01:00
It was tongue in cheek SGL.
The more I see if Helander, the more I like him and Goldson together.
Katic will have a big future at Rangers but he's still naive at times just now to be a regular in a big season such as this.

25 Oct 2019 13:19:32
Joao felix played for benfica fifa guy👍. Katic is better than goldson👍.

25 Oct 2019 13:41:40
Katic and Edmundson will have their day but at present best pairing is Goldson and Helander.
How good is it to have four good ch and not players like Kieran, Wilson and Cardozo.

25 Oct 2019 14:38:03
Remember when people were on here greeting about letting Bates go! 🤣.

25 Oct 2019 16:03:12
Bates kiernan, enough to give fear the fear 🤣👍.

25 Oct 2019 17:09:18
The ginger Ramos according to some, future scotland captain 😂😂 lump of wood from the start 👍.

25 Oct 2019 17:12:06
Mr poppy yes SGL said he was a future captain lol.

25 Oct 2019 18:43:24
He might end up a future Scotland captain under Clarke the way things are going! 😱😆
If Devlin can get a game then anyone can!

26 Oct 2019 15:17:48
As long as Rangers play their 'better' players and leave their 'best' CH on the bench for now, I'll be a happy man. 👍😜.

25 Oct 2019 06:44:27
Just watched SG press conference post match and the man is pure quality. So composed in answering questions and rightly says We are RANGERS and came here to win. Success is round the corner with him in charge.

Review Of The Day 25th October 2019

25 Oct 2019 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 25th October 2019

24 Oct 2019 22:38:26
Still think tav needs rested. Davis and shagger amazing, Thought Gerrard set up posivtely tonight and deserved 3 points. On another night alfs header would of secured it. Still not sure about Barker though I see why he tried him. Think they are there for taking at the blue sea, That goal we scored was different class. It's good to be a bear again! Only a matter of time.

25 Oct 2019 06:16:23
Thought our whole team was amazing,
including our management team. All our players played well, bit i thought helander, barisic, davis,
morelos and jack even for the mistake for their goal, were exceptional!
