A small question i would like to ask all my fellow bears on here, as it is still rangers connected, as the global name of steven gerrard, is our new manager! I was asked this question by a fellow blue nose, which i'll share with and ask you guys on here! Who do you reckon was the best midfielder from frank lampard, paul scholes, steven gerrard and patrick vieira? Its a very difficult one but i'm looking forward to your contrasting answers! Should be very interesting!

25 May 2018 22:55:31
Difficult to answer. Each were great. Box to box Gerrard no doubt. Lampard as an attacking mid. Scholes as the creator because his goals dried up later in his career. Vieira as the destructor. Could fit all 4 in a diamond if you want to be greedy

25 May 2018 23:05:04
They're all amazing players I love frank lampard and Gerard but for me scholes was my favourite.

25 May 2018 23:14:57
Have a poll?

25 May 2018 23:29:56
Frank lampard for me supercoop.

25 May 2018 23:56:10
Paul Scholes for me

25 May 2018 23:57:44
As much as I like our new manager but not one of them could touch Vieria he had an engine second to none and his presence innthat team was insane! The battles with that bead rattler Keane was legendary and 80% of the time he had him in his back pocket hence Keane lost it most playing Arsenal!

26 May 2018 00:11:25
Lampard for me coops

26 May 2018 01:38:56
Viera for me coops then Gerrard then scholes then Lampard but All amazing players in there day.

26 May 2018 05:08:18
It has to be Scholes for me. What a player. Tough question though. šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

26 May 2018 07:08:06
Scholes

26 May 2018 07:19:49
scholes

he was brought up a striker and cldnt tackle. but his touch, passing goals and dribbling were phenomenal - I've seen few interviews with likes of henry, joe cole viera and ginola all agreed scholes was the best, as his medals also prove

never seen a short arse score so many with his head as his timing and ability to arrive in box at right time were (2nd to none and obv his long range shooting was spectacular

Iā€™ll leave final word to 1 of greatest midfielders of all time

xavi: in all your years at barcelona and spain is there any player you wld like to have played with

paul scholes

26 May 2018 07:47:10
Lamps

26 May 2018 08:09:15
Beckham

26 May 2018 08:34:14
scholes

26 May 2018 09:10:33
All different types of players but if Iā€™d the chance to sign one Iā€™d have signed Scholes. Gerrard a close second.

26 May 2018 09:50:36
Coops, good question and great fun.

I don't want to say it but Viera has to be no1,
1. PV - World and Euro cup, won the league with different 3 clubs, 107 caps. I don't think as a player he was particularly entertaining to watch but his record puts him at no1.
2.Joint second for the rest with SG edging it, just for his drive and dragging his team back to win the CL. IMO, most working class boys and girls have that inner beast ready to destroy the competition or enemy (John Smeaton) and like so many of us SG was born into an environment of survival of the fittest. Darwin, take a bow.

A bit of a tangent but non the less relevant. Is the decline of Scottish football related to our improved living standards over the last 50 years. We no longer have 1 million kids in poverty just constantly playing football and working there arses off to get out of it. Most of Brazil's players still come from that back ground, still.

26 May 2018 10:14:40
In my younger years i played in midfield at a decent enough level guys! In order of the midfielders in my op it would be 1.Paul Scholes,
2.Steven Gerrard,3.Patrick Vieira &
4.Frank Lampard although i do agree that all 4 were fantastic midfielders!

26 May 2018 10:22:40
Scholes for me . Growing up also as a utd fan I only seen him in his peak years from 2005 onwards but man what a player. his vision accuracy shooting and creativity was for me 2nd to none. Hard question though!

26 May 2018 10:29:23
Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard then Vieira. I'm only doing this order as 1st 2 won European Cup and leagues. But there is nothing in it and all 4 would be unstoppable. Proper players.

25 May 2018 20:15:05
So fellow bears what you think of Dutch player Marco Van Ginkel He was on loan with PSV from Chelsea and seems to be a decent player this season but still probably won't get regular games at Stamford Bridge

I was hearing he was free to leave and can getting for a cut price of 2-3m Surely he must be worth a punt his wages would be around 30k a week

25 May 2018 19:45:39
hey guys back again aha, wanted to give my thoughts on the Skrtel deal being ā€œdeadā€ according to his agent

Firstly, has Steven Gerrard even assessed the squad? of course not. it doesnā€™t take a genius to figure out that thereā€™s loads off improvement needed but my point is yeh he might off mentiond Skrtel to the board as someone hey may want to bring in and the board have went in enquiried into it early just to know the price/ wages involved and they arenā€™t keen on the figures but that doesnā€™t mean the deal is ā€œdeadā€

Secondly, sg doesnā€™t start to June 1st so thereā€™s no way any deal is off or ā€œdeadā€ as he hasnā€™t even had any say in if as papers have said, Steven is the boss at the end off the day and he has the final decision so if he wants Skrtel as one off his major signings then the board will hopefully back him and give him the funds even if they arenā€™t keen on the prices mentioned as mentioned Steven has the say NOT the board.

my point is donā€™t fall for all the paper talk saying deals are either dead or unlikely as stevie g hasnā€™t even starred yet lmao

Anyway guys catch youā€™s on June 1st when the real business starts!

25 May 2018 20:19:15
Matthews, the Board calls the shots. That's the way business works.

26 May 2018 01:45:41
Allen And Gerrard list the players they want but Board has final say i'm afraid and the players mentioned in the papers will be not coming to us cause we simply can't afford the fees or the wages even celtic couldn't pay for the players mentioned either we might only get some of the loan players mentioned.

25 May 2018 19:34:27
I hope Dave King doesn't let Steven Gerard down. I wouldn't like King to promise x amount of cash then not fulfil his promise. All eyes on you mr King.

25 May 2018 19:53:48
Wouldnā€™t be like mr king to tell a lie now would it

25 May 2018 20:18:38
Goalie let's have a wee trucešŸ˜‚šŸ¤šŸ¤
personally I can't see SG taking the job to be hamstrung by a paltry budget. By that I mean Ā£5 To Ā£10 million. He will know exactly what he has at his disposal and obviously will have to use it wisely.
Whether Skrtel was approached or not i'd be horrified if we spent Ā£5 million and upward of Ā£45,000 a week on a 34 year old entering his last year his contract. Am I disappointed? yes but we can get players of similar quality for less.
However if there is not a decent budget then I honestly think SG may have made a mistake.
Personally I think it's the former and we will find out in the coming weeks. šŸ‘

25 May 2018 23:51:14
Wise words Colster. You sound a clever chap, just unfortunate you didn't believe me that Skrtel wasn't signing for us mate.

25 May 2018 18:21:43
Anybody got any ideas on what Rangers have planned for the 150 year anniversary. Its not far away and it seems to me to be a hook when trying to extend players contracts as they alway mention the "exciting project" Is it linked to 2022 - who knows. I just hope behind the scenes there are putting things in place for this important year. What your thoughts bears. ATB.

PS, I will be 100 when we have our 200 year anniversary, unfortunately wine, pizza, kebabs and doritos will see that I don't make that one, let me know how it goes.

25 May 2018 20:28:19
As supporters of the club we should all chip in (around 10,000) of us at least Ā£200 each (approx 2million) to go towards Gerrards funding for a player Its a big ask but wouldn't it be a great gift for a great club we all support

25 May 2018 20:50:26
Lets get through next season at least before thinking about 2022.

25 May 2018 21:46:19
As long as they don't ask Southampton for a friendly as they will also be 150 years old that year. We had a friendly arranged with them for our 140 year anniversaries and they bumped us when, well you know.

25 May 2018 15:12:53
Seems to be more tims than bears on here now

25 May 2018 16:34:16
I would never in a million years contemplate going on to any of their forums so i don't understand their need to come on to ours. Get back to your own ya bunch of obsessed smelly rats.

25 May 2018 17:23:11
I agree and by the way they attack everything the club does most of them are masquerading as our supporters.

25 May 2018 17:30:18
Defo mate the disagrees are a giveaway

25 May 2018 17:44:03
They are trying so hard to convince us all they arenā€™t worried. We believe them *wink*.

25 May 2018 18:04:30
Itā€™s akways been the case, theyā€™ve just gone further and created accounts. Thereā€™s even ones on here prebtending to be Rangers fans, posting and replying on nearly a daily basis.

25 May 2018 20:46:50
place is infested with them.

25 May 2018 22:59:59
I don't give a damn unwashed on here. Just an indication of quality banter between bears better quality than own site whatever its called. Maybe improving their spelling IMHO.

25 May 2018 14:35:25
people are saying sg is not a gamble but i think it is a bit and with a 4 year contract

i do hope sg does well when he take charge of the team some ex football players have gone on to be amazing managers but some have not done so well especially in there first job

but dave king has said he is a Liverpool fan obviously that's his english team witch i am sure guys on here have a team down south they like the best

and when you think of Liverpool who is the guy that comes to mind sg so with king a fan and he had the chance to sign him he jumped at it

but giving a 4 year contract is a gamble because if we finish 3rd 4th or even 5th next year king would never let him go because of who he is

there was not much difference in points between 2nd 3rd or 4th so they will get players in also and be up there next season hearts also.

25 May 2018 17:34:09
Jamesy i can tell your a glass half empty kinda guy or a tim we won't know till it plays out but 40000 renewals shows the support agrees and are with it let's just get behind him i think things are on the up

25 May 2018 21:30:47
jamsey i think you are a shuffler i gerrard being appointed can't get you ecxited a born winner then i think your at it ITS ALL ABOUT THE RANGERS

25 May 2018 22:21:14
@james185 - got to disagree. All managerial appointments are a gamble.
The Hivs are already resigned to losing a few players and were definitely punching above there weight this season.
The Sheep are at there peak level.
Can Clarke get another decent season out of Boyd at his age?
Consistency was our downfall last season coupled with a horrendous home form.
Let's wait and see what happens regarding player recruitment before making bold predictions of where we will finish.

25 May 2018 14:25:38
we need better players than what we have, and todays money market good players earn decent money, they won't come otherwise. we need experianced cbs,3 at that skirtel, bartley, collins would be a great fit, a hard cm, mginn, adams perhaps, rb, could be alan hutton great season at the villa, a cf, anybodys guess, marriot, and some good loanees, not liverpools under 18s.

25 May 2018 15:37:12
Skrtel, Collins and Bartley would be lucky to run the 100 metres in 2.5 hours - as a rely team. There are better and more affordable options out there. Also the older players get the more injuries they carry, we canā€™t have a team of players around 34/ 35 year old - take Alves for example, only played 20 games this season.

25 May 2018 12:31:09
None of us know what budget the club have allocated to S. G. for transfers, my guess is Ā£15m, we can make a more educated guess at our wage budget but still not sure. We have 1 agent, trying to get the best deal possible for his client that's his job, saying we are far from his valuation of his players wages. Already idiots on here saying we are not backing our manager or why get S. G. and not back him. Others saying we should not buy older players others saying we should not buy youth. We need a balance.
I really enjoy reading who our fans say we should sign and adding my own. But this reacting to press speculation by slagging our own board is plain stupid.

25 May 2018 13:39:36
I don't really think we need to be paying a cb Ā£60k a week to play in Scotland.

If we are pushing the boat out i'd say we should have a max of two or three players on Ā£30k (1.5m a year) which is probably about double that of a good squad players wage.

There are bound to be a few good players that would come in for that salary.

We also need to get rid of the deadwood who are happy taking a wage and not playing. Before offering large salaries. Imo

25 May 2018 20:49:27
couldnt agree more. the agent is hardly unlikely to go to the papers complaining rangers offered too much wages. his job is to get every penny possible

25 May 2018 22:08:45
Completely agree Bluepete, let us wait and see what Stevie comes up with. But let's remember this is a rumour and banter site where we can express our opinions, I for one enjoy that.

25 May 2018 12:25:55
Not a rumour but I wish you would all stop going on about English based players. Most overpriced market in the world. We should be scouting places like Scandanavia, Holland, Belgium, Austria etc.

25 May 2018 13:41:10
Yep agreed, but do we have the infrastructure and expertise in place to do that?

25 May 2018 12:06:14
Defoe, Skrtel are players who command massive salaries and are very unlikely to be seen at Ibrox.
Do we look at signing players like Caulker and Kamara from Dundee or Mulumba from Kilmarnock?
McBurnie and Bartley would be good additions but they will also be on massive salaries and also require us to offer a big transfer fee.

25 May 2018 12:59:58
Has anyone actually spent anytime watching McBurnie playing as a lot of people are saying he would be a great buy? I personally havenā€™t seen any of him and Ā£4 million is a lot of cash for a young guy and hope itā€™s not because heā€™s a self confessed Gers fan that people think we should sign him? šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

25 May 2018 14:05:14
Yateley i've watched him a few times with Barnsley and he has impressed but i also feel if Cummings was in the same Barnsley team he too would have scored goals. I personally feel people are jumping too much onto the "Rangers fan" bandwagon, 4 mil is a massive gamble.

25 May 2018 11:31:02
Got to laugh at the media saying we're signing half the premiership players and all of gerrards former team mates. and then having everyone moaning that it's not true. They are in the dark about what's really happening as we all are. Imo o can't wait till 1at of June then we w will see who the new management actually want instead of having the! media filling our heads with nonsense

25 May 2018 13:05:49
Totally agree Robbieg1969,
We not only have the media and celtic fans all moaning and saying we couldn't afford to pay the salary for the likes of Skrtel, but we also have some Rangers fans complaining and questioning our finances,
I ask the Rangers fans this. when did we ever pay this kind of salary. never, not even Celtic who are in a better financial state would pay that kind of salary to a 33 year old, and finally would you be happy for the club to pay that kind of transfer fee and salary to one player who is 33 years old and with no sell on value, of course we need to bring in better players but let's be a bit more clever about it, that's why the DOF and the Manager are keeping their cards close to their chest,

25 May 2018 22:13:15
I couldn't care less about a sell on fee, if a player comes in and does the job I wouldn't want him to leave and if he retires after 2 season you say thanks and move on.

25 May 2018 10:35:35
Got a good laugh this morning both my boss and his boss are tic fans. Both complaining about the ticket allocation. "How can they do that must be something in the rules" dave king your a genius mate.

25 May 2018 13:48:15
Explain why DKing is a genius he can't get his money out of SA to pay for the TOP vertict, surely a genius would have his money on tap oh unless he's playing a blinder and not adhering to the law of the land. I was going to say pure genius but I would then be called a Mick, oh the money just resting in his account oh Father Ted I'm caught.

25 May 2018 15:18:36
NO disrespect isle of mule heā€™s a multi million heā€™s maybe not a genius but heā€™s hardly a clown is he?

25 May 2018 19:45:29
That's not what his lawyer told the court, he stated in court his client Mr King was pennyless. If as you say he's a multi millionaire why would his lawyer say that?

25 May 2018 09:19:10
Other clubs only get the corner seating so why should celtic be any different its about time our fans were put first

25 May 2018 11:36:31
All teams should put their fans first. All away fans at every ground should be put in the corner

25 May 2018 13:53:15
have you seen where Barcelona put the away fans, way up the top of the camp nou out of sight.

25 May 2018 14:36:06
With hardly any celtic fans at the old firm games i think the atmosphere will just not be the same

25 May 2018 16:10:42
i agree big Andy. Barcelona and real stick away fans up in the gods.

If rangers are winning the atmosphere will be eletric.

If rangers are getting beat the atmosphere will be crap so no change there.

Letā€™s remember it is Celtic who brought this change. Celebrating for 20 minutes after the game, tying scarfs on goal posts, wiping their nose on flags, throwing flares into the rangers section, not returning the ball, etc

During 9 in a row when rangers went to parkhead we got a clap from the players from the half way line and up the tunnel they went. 2 exceptions were when we actually won the league and once fergie got the team to do a huddle. But that all changed with the Ronnie roar and now they are just taking the mick and showing no class.

Well done the board. I only feel for the our away fans as we will get our allocation cut for the piggery

25 May 2018 08:25:00
Andy Carroll? Omg

25 May 2018 10:13:17
If we canā€™t afford Skrtels wages we canā€™t afford Andy Carrollā€™s, thank feck.

25 May 2018 18:28:46
This issue about ticket allocation is a dangerous one. We know we can fill Ibrox every home game but if reduce Tic allocation they will simply respond tit for tat and we'll end up with 5000 allocation for piggery. The only positive is that the St John stones and Killie will be sweating at massive loss of revenue if we vote with feet and don't go.

25 May 2018 07:48:35
Well it looks pretty clear that the club are playing there cards close in regards to transfers atm. So none of us really know which bracket of the market we will be shopping. i personally don't think we are to far away from a good team. My thoughts are if we supplement the squad with some good players from the league and maybe try for one marquee signing. I would have Caulker and kipre cb. Mulumbu dominant cm and Kamberi st. Hopefully that would leave cash in the pot for one hopefully two top drawer Players. Just a thought.

25 May 2018 10:56:26
We should be broading our horizon and look for players abroad we could pick up some very good buys withing our budget who then we could sell on for profit.
Hear is some examples that we should be able to attract and withing our budget
Yordi reyna vancouver
Hamidou traore karabuspor
Simo thern malmo
Denzel dumfries heerenveen
