mataz scored a screamer at the world cup i think and napoli have got brilliant strikers already like cavani nd lavezzi

Believable1 Unbelievable0

He's already agreed personal terms though, and Napoli and Gronigen are trying to agree a transfer fee. Which will be about £4-5 million quid. The only chance we had was in January when we showed interest but for whatever reason the lad picked Napoli (Stronger League?), Peiter Huistra is the coach so am sure he would have pointed him in our direction

ed any chance of guttuso making a return to Ibrox?

{Ed010's Note - Many Rangers fans have posted information that Gattuso would be returning to Rangers this summer but there is now conflicting information coming out of Italy. It had been reported that Gattuso had asked for a transfer or at least Milan were looking to get a transfer fee rather than lose him next year for free. I read today, that the Milan president president Adriano Galliani has assured Milan fans that Gattuso will remain with the club beyond the summer. So it looks as if Gattuso will not be joining Rangers, any time soon, if the statement is accurate.

Novo couldnt get a regular game in a rubbish strike force. So hes got no chance with Jelavic etc. there. sausage bear

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Can I pint out that Novo got one season up front alongside Prso and was our top goalscorer. The following season he was moved to RM, since then he has never had a run of more than 6+ games in a row up front. I love the way you put Jelavic etc. as your strike force, unless you know of a player called etc. who is a good striker I cannot think of many much better Lafferty maybe but who else? Naismith is better at RM whose next in line McCulloch, Little?

Novo is not a good player he gave 100% every game but that's it we need better players than him at our club

HI ed keep up the good work.Have u any info on mensha and tomer hemed and also heard that rob earnshaw is a free agent and intresting both the old firm.

{Ed010's Note - Thanks for that but with regards to the first 2 players you mentioned, I think that most of us will have heard of and know at least a little about John Mensah but not necessarily Tomer Hamed. Many readers to this site have thankfully added information about Hamed to other posts, which allows for us all to be more knowledgeable.

Hope Rob Earnshaw has a stinker tonight though lol

ed do you know how much rangers are getting for transfers becuse the roumours av heard rangers want john mensah and tomer hamad and richard foster and diouf and kenny miller but we should be signing more players then that so does that mean more then 10 million and can u tell me more about john mensah

{Ed010's Note -Only Ally McCoist and Craig Whyte will know for definite how much is in the Rangers transfer pot but it has been reported as anywhere between 10 and 15 million.

Taken straight from Wikipedia.....John Mensah was born in Obuasi, Ghana, Mensah is a product of the scouting system in Ghana that identifies talented youngsters long before they enter any formal structures and exports them to potential fame and fortune in Europe.

A centre-half by choice, Mensah is also adept at right-back and has played in both positions for his national side, also captaining the team on occasions. His physique has earned him the moniker the ‘Rock of Gibraltar’, and Mensah was considered a certainty to be named in the Black Stars’ squad for the 2006 World Cup.

charlie adam to newcastle 14 mill agreed inside info so that means rangers gets 3.5 million

Your inside info is nonsense as Rangers are due 20% of any transfer fee. . . . . which would be 2.8 million not 3.5

Although I have heard a deal will be done between Blackpool and Newcastle as they want to pip the big teams to him . . . fee won't be anymore than 10 million max!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2011 18:00:29
ed how are Hearts signing players and the market does'nt open till july 1st

{Ed010's Note - Good question and one that I was asked earlier by someone else. I will be honest and say that the whole transfer window issue, together with when a club can and can't sign players, is bewildering.

What I do know is that each European FA submits to Uefa, dates for their own transfer window to be open and close and most of the major leagues, as well as ours, opens on 1 July 2011 and closes on 31 August 2011. There are allowed a few "tweaks" outwith these dates and one of those is to allow clubs and players, to mutually terminate contracts that are in the last few weeks of life. eg Chris Burke and Jay Bothroyd at Cardiff City.

These players are then deemed to be out of contract and are permitted to sign for other clubs. Taking Craig Conway as an example, his contract expires on 30 June 2011 but because no agreement has been reached so far, with regard to him being "released" from his contract, he cannot sign for another club until 1 July 2011 when the window opens.

In the case of the three Hearts' signings, all three were either "out of contract" or have been "released" from their contract.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 May 2011 17:06:21
is it true we've got conway on a pre-contract ed?

Article from Evening Times.

Israeli striker on Ally McCoist s radar. .

Published on 25 May 2011

Israeli striker Tomer Hemed could be Ally McCoist s first signing of the summer.

The 24-year-old is available on a Bosman having decided to end his time at Maccabi Haifa.

Gers scout John Brown has been impressed with the forward after twice running the rule over him in recent weeks.

McCoist could now swoop to add the striker to his attacking ranks for the new campaign.

Maccabi president Jacob Shachar said: We know Tomer is going to leave. He has an offer abroad. We have made him an offer to stay, but I don t think he will.

Another name on the Gers radar is Lyon star John Mensah.

A fee of around £1m may be needed to lure the defender from France.

The 28-year-old was on loan at Sunderland last season and his agent, Fabien Piveteau, has said Ibrox could be the Ghana World Cup star s next destination.

Rangers have expressed an interest in John, claimed Piveteau, but we are looking at other offers and taking into consideration the price tag before making a move.

Meanwhile, Kenyan internationalist Victor Wanyama has also been linked with a move to the Scottish champions.

The 19-year-old, the brother of Inter Milan star McDonald Mariga, is in Belgium with Germinal Beerschot and has been watched by Hannover and Newcastle.

Diouf wants to stay with Gers

El-Hadji Diouf could be set to stay at Rangers next season. The player said: As for my future at Rangers, things are looking good.

Blackburn staying up was one of the main factors. Hopefully it will be sorted as soon. I m 100% for it.

Rangers have been told they will have to stump up to keep on-loan Don Ricky Foster.

kenny miller is trying his best 2 strike a deal 2 come back 2 rangers as him and his family not geting on well in turkey

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Kenny miller had his chance - twice.
dont want to see miller, ferguson, boyd, novo, thompson, lovenkrands or burke back. funny how they didn't want back before takeover n wages would have been below 10k a week. would prob take rino providing his wages were realistic as i wouldn't break the bank on a 33 year old with no resale value.
the tiger - looking to the future

Agree4 Disagree2

Prior to Lovenkrans signing for Newcastle he was training with Rangers and asked them to sign him, he said he would accept a low wage. In January Novo pleaded with the Gijon manager to let him go and to Rangers to sign him. Miller is all about the money, Ferguson has a bad attitude, Burke and Thomson are not good enough. Please don't question the motive of players that gave a lot to our club and who would love to return.

Spoke 2 Jim McFadden or James as he is sometimes known he is a boyhood Celtic fan but he loved working with Ally at Scotland where he became our countries biggest hero.
His agent has been advised to find him a new club and Jim has asked his agent to contact Rangers to see if they want to strike a deal! Not joking I used to play at West Park with him and I stay in Mansel Street in Springburn just up from Galloway where he stayed and his big bro still kicks about he has always kept in touch and those were His own words believe it if u want u won't get a betr source than that watch this space. . .

The guy said McFadden played with West Park, not West Ham. West Park are a boys club in Springburn/Bishopbriggs. And McFadden is from Springburn! I don't believe the guys rumour but if you're goni be a dick n shoot him down at least gets the facts right

I agree with the last poster although he did play for west park who are based out Springburn way, as My younger bro played with them a few years back.

Wouldn't want him here anyway, theres better options out there, and his best years are behind him. But I do believe he is of the personallity that could play for either of the old firm.

He said west park and not west ham mate. . . to be honest i think he might be telling porkies, james has always said he wasnt so interested in the "gold fish bowl" that is glasgow with the old firm. Actually McFadden was brought up in Auchanern road in Balornock East.Cos I really do know him, and have done since he was a kid.And he has always said he is open to play for both clubs.Hamilton LOL give me a break. The muppets on here are a laugh.

ed when does the transfer window open for teams to sign players

{Ed010's Note -To be quite honest, the rules and regulations concerning when players can be signed is a bit of a grey area. I know that in Scotland, the transfer window is open between 1 July and 31 August. With about 99.9% of contracted player's contracts expiring on the 30th June of any given year, I don't know if they can sign immediately for another club, if their parent club releases them early from their contract. Players who are already out of contract can be signed at any time either outwith or during the transfer window.

I am sure that if I am wrong, I will be corrected and if any reader has a good link to the rules and regulations concerning the transfer window and/or contracts and signings, please let us know, as I for one would be interested in reading it. Just remember to drop the "http://" to allow it to bypass the site filter. Thanks Ed

Kenny Miller can want a return all he wants but i wouldn't have in back. Hes had his time and as a club its time we looked to the future and not just short term.

The likes of Lafferty needs the chance to show what he can do and we should be looking to young forwards ie goodwille

lets hope he doesn't sign.

Any news on goodwillie signing yet ed?

{Ed010's Note -Nothing yet but I don't think that is surprising. What we need to remember is that while Goodwillie may be a target, Ally may be working on a few things and talking to the player, his agent and Dundee Utd but that is all it will be. Any manager worth his salt, will try and secure the best possible player and by absolutely committing to one player, may miss a better player, should that player then become available.

I would be interested to hear your views on this Ed? . . But I personally can't remember an imminent transfer window in the past where so many attractive players are available on a bosman than the current one. Over the last few seasons Rangers have had a serious problem with ball retention in Europe and several PL games, and not to mention any names, but there has been a few players with bellow-par first touches, passing and decision making. I feel the likes of Wes Brown, David Vaughan, Sebastian Larsson, Lee Bowyer and Hasan Salihamidzic; who all are experienced and comfortable on the ball; would be valuable additions to the Rangers squad. However it remains to be seen whether Rangers could attract such players. Mochaccino Latte {Ed001's Note - I think all of them would be good signings, Vaughan in particular has been excellent this season, in my opinion.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I saw on Sky Sports news that Vaughan is to be offered a 3 year deal at Sunderland.

Agree1 Disagree1

I think you've hit the nail on the head there mate! We've really struggled in recent seasons tryin to keep the ball against other SPL teams and in Europe. This becomes more of a problem in Europe when we spent so long without the ball that when we finally got it we didn't know what to do and became completely static! I would welcome more players who are comfortable at taking the ball and assured when moving it on, at the very LEAST we need this, possession is half the battle. Then if we bring in a wee bit of flair and pace we could really hurt teams in attack, imagine big Nikica partnered with a wee, fast tricky player- perfect combo. What does everyone else think, and you ed?
Ger93

{Ed010's Note -Looking at the last four or five games of the season, I thought that was when Rangers played their best football of the season. Defence looked solid, midfield played with some flair and panache and the strikers (Jelavic and Lafferty) were scoring for fun. For the Scottish game, there isn't much wrong with the players we have and any new signings will only make it better.

It was in Europe that we really struggled and were found out. We desperately need players in the midfield and it is in that area we really need to invest by bringing in quality players. Up front, I believe a player in the Scott McDonald mould would fit in well but I hope that Ally gives Lafferty the opportunity to start the new season with Jelavic, he certainly has earned the chance.
