Just out of interest what kind of Rangers player, current or former is Dorrans similar to?

25 Jun 2017 15:40:02
hard to say but my best guess from recent times would be Steven Davis, in terms of his position and standard of play. Dorrans I would say is a little more flamboyant than Davis while Davis has more industry/ determination though both players try to link up and dictate play from the midfield and can play in any position in the midfield really, CM, RM or even Left mid at a push.

Davis I rate as a better player currently though I think Dorrans standard in SPL would be similar impact to what Davis had for us.

25 Jun 2017 15:43:46
Thanks

25 Jun 2017 18:58:05
I suppose we'd have to get Dorrans first to compare, which
After all these failed attempts is no garentee!

26 Jun 2017 07:44:35
I'd like to know what people disagree about my post? Seems like a perfectly reasonable comparison to me. I'm not saying their plays types are identical but they play similar positions and at a similar level of quality at spl level from when Davis was with us to what dorrans would bring now.

It is possible that I have actually watched other games of football outside of Rangers and might actually have an idea what I'm talking about.

26 Jun 2017 10:26:39
Portu_gers-

Or others have differing opinions. I wouldn't take any of it seriously to be honest. Someone put up the season fixtures and there were loads of disagrees. How can you disagree with the official fixture list. Laugh it off, some people just get their kicks out of it. And remember not everyone on here supports Rangers.

27 Jun 2017 09:50:20
Davis a good comparison when he played with us to dorrans he has since grown to be a top player for Southampton and a far better player than dorrans

25 Jun 2017 14:22:56
McInnes didn't mind selling one of his best to Celtic, unless he doesn't want to lose 2 midfielders after Jack left.

25 Jun 2017 15:09:10
McInnis is a Rangers supporter. It will be the senior sheep with the agenda. Can't wait to bring them down to earth .

25 Jun 2017 17:29:45
Half and half me thinks.

25 Jun 2017 20:30:54
McInnes did ask for assurances that none of his best players would be sold as a condition of not going to Sunderland.

25 Jun 2017 20:32:06
They have lost three of their best players and that was before McInnis decided to stay. Its been said he has requested that no more players were to be sold if he was staying on.

But if their board get a bid that they can't refuse they will obviously sell.

I don't think that bid will come from us though. We need to be sensible, yes making educated gambles are good as its a good way to make money but players in their last year don't go for their real values. And I don't think we should be offering to pay over the odds for him or Walker.

It just sets a precedent for other Scottish clubs to put an extra million or half million on to the price when we go in for a player.

Why give more money for players to our rivals.

25 Jun 2017 13:53:00
Fellow Bears,
Board has not mentioned objectives for next season as yet. Thought I would post a few ideas for discussion - all comments welcome!
1) take SPFL title race to last few games of season
2) Win Scottish Cup
3) Good account of ourselves Europa League group stages
4)Present blue print for Rangers Academy
5)Refurbish Ibrox and improve match day experience
6) Move on all unwanted squad members- we know who they are
7)Improve goal for stats
8) Win 2 home games against the unwashed
9)Bring on a a few youngsters
10) Global scouting structure in place

Cheers!

25 Jun 2017 20:57:48
It will take a good effort just to make it to Europa League groups. Are we good enough yet?

25 Jun 2017 12:50:10
Dave king is 100% spot on with everything he is saying for to long so many have slated him during all this he's been breaking his back trying to sort our club out while been slagged off . I hope all the haters have well and truly chocked on there words . So many new names appearing your the ones who now changed your minds and can't face the backlash from us all near 10m spent with more to come .

I just hope the team plays well on Thursday and thumps this team along with the last of the haters kings played the game well patients was always going to be the key to success again we didn't do to badly with both hands tied behind our back now we're free to fight against all the way to the top .

25 Jun 2017 14:04:20
Well said Highlandger

26 Jun 2017 14:09:08
"I just hope the team plays well on Thursday and thumps this team"

After all the optimism and fighting talk in your first paragraph, this sounds like you actually have doubts about all the "new names" and are not as optimistic as you make out.

25 Jun 2017 12:47:44
My source says Notts Forrest are in for Tavernier

25 Jun 2017 13:35:06
funny at first mate, the ship has sailed!

25 Jun 2017 15:03:07
Bruno surely live in a timeshare!
Or his source hast o read the big words out the paper for him :-)

25 Jun 2017 11:07:52
Well said Dave King (Sunday Mail) but the fans he is describing have gone silent on here in recent weeks.

He said: "I differentiate supporters from fans, and in all the statements I issue from the club, I am very careful about when I talk about supporters and when I talk about fans. Supporters are always fans, but fans are not always supporters. So, when I look at the club, I talk about those that are buying season tickets in record numbers every season. I'm talking about the 50,000 supporters that arrived at Ibrox for the first game in the Third Division and gave the record UK crowd.

"There are some fans out there, and all clubs have them, who to me are not actually true supporters and there is a noise level out there which, to me, I should completely ignore. I'm really interested what the real supporters want and what we are doing for the club is for the real supporters.

All supporters are fans but not all fans are supporters. You've got Rangers fans who will criticise the manager after the first game.

And they'll tweet and they'll blog and they'll insult. They'll use language that a supporter would never use about their club. ".

25 Jun 2017 11:37:55
Totally agree BR65

25 Jun 2017 12:34:41
I like how he has been quietly working away on important issues like the merchandise deal and squad funds, while many on here have been slating him for doing nothing.

Well done Mr King. 👏

25 Jun 2017 12:49:44
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Dave king has just proved that. i'm not his biggest fan and i've been outspoken about him in the past. That make me less of a fan/ supporter does it? Where was Dave king when we were making that history of a 50,000 sell out at the first game after demotion?
I for one am pleased about the investment and getting the sd deal sorted out but, you can't call someone a lesser supporter because they form an opinion of him or the shite Manager he hired (warburton) or the deals for shite players that he sanctioned. It's just my opinion and i know i will get some sick for this but, let's not overlook some of the mistakes this board have made.
It really boils my pish to see a rangers chairman being
so publicly outspoken. Conduct yourself with a little bit more class.

25 Jun 2017 13:38:50
Agreed, Yogibear.

25 Jun 2017 15:09:13
Yep, too many of our players had too much to say for themselves last year, and DK seems to be banging a drum unnecessarily in my opinion.
Let's stay relatively quiet and if at Xmas we are still in the hunt for silverware then we can start to be bit more boisterous.
We have done nothing so far to be noisy and sarcastic to other teams, . Even Celtic!
Onwards and upwards (with a bit of humility and dignity)

25 Jun 2017 16:53:58
So what is being said is that it's ok for you to share opinions on here but its not ok for Dave King to share his opinions of the supposed fans who criticise the board, manager and team, at every opportunity?

Double standards me thinks!

25 Jun 2017 17:42:54
Great posts lads. Despite frequent criticism from more than a fair few on here DK has consistently acted in the best interest of the club. At times I believ his personal communication and style could have been better, but there was never any doubt over his intentions or integrity.

25 Jun 2017 18:55:24
He's right. There's too many fans quick to criticize. Even Pedro has got it. After the 5-1 his tactics were getting slaughtered. He had assessed the players and decided some weren't up-to it, while others were given a chance to prove they were.

It has since came to light there was nothing to be gained longer term playing dead wood.

Painful at the time, but obviously not many were trusted to carry his instructions.

25 Jun 2017 19:33:02
Fd, just because the fans want to know what is going on, it's not always practical to tell us. If he said what was going on behind the scenes and what his intentions were it would give Ashley info and let him prepare a counter.

Trust the board to do their job (until it's blatantly obvious that the can't) and support them through good and bad

25 Jun 2017 10:04:20
Rangers should go for Anita free transfer good pedigree over 100 games for ajax and Newcastle can play as a holding midfielder or either full back position good versitile player ticks the boxes I've heard a lot of toon supporters say he's consistent and rarely has a bad game.

25 Jun 2017 10:14:03
Why is he not back at Newcastle then?

25 Jun 2017 10:17:08
Wasn't it reported a few places a couple of days ago that we were interested in him? Agree though would be a cracking signing if we could pull it off.

25 Jun 2017 11:15:24
we couldn't afford his wages which would likely be in excess of 25 grand a week.

25 Jun 2017 11:24:05
dont think we can afford his 25 grand a week wages

25 Jun 2017 11:41:00
released, hence, no wages lol

25 Jun 2017 09:58:03
McLean and McGinn were both St Mirren players snapped up at a time we could have signed them and now worth over a million pounds each. Our midfielders we're battling to move out on frees. Would they have shone at Rangers is the question and the answer is probably not and we need to finally solve the problem of young players coming into the starting 11 and cracking it. Lewis Mcleod stood out but will a Burt or Barjonas finally buck the trend of decades? Everyone talks about Durrant and that's how far back it goes. We need a solution to this great mystery.

25 Jun 2017 11:28:42
McLean was a rangers player we could have loaned him out

25 Jun 2017 13:09:36
Derek Ferguson, Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor, Alan Hutton, Maurice Ross, Steven Pressley, Ross McCormack, Charlie Adam, Stephen Hughes, Steven Smith, Barrie McKay. There's a whole international team that the Rangers youth system brought through, plus guys like Bob Malcolm, Scott Wilson, Scott Nisbet, Barry Nicholson and dozens of others who went on to have solid professional careers. I'd say that's a decent return.

25 Jun 2017 15:12:04
Charlie Miller

25 Jun 2017 07:43:15
I just wish Dave king would stop speaking to the press about Celtic .

25 Jun 2017 08:39:34
Why? We've been on the receiving end of your not the same club rubbish for years. When it's been proven time and again that we are. It's also been corroborated by many organisations within the game. Yet Celtic and their fans continue to beat us over the head with the sevco crap. Let them believe what they want to believe, let us believe that they've only won two in a row. It's a like for like thing based on belief and getting one over your opponent.

King, while being cute with his words has a valid point. It wasn't us that started and continued the psychological war so why should we always be on the receiving end of something created to hurt us? Turn it, use it! How can Celtic be at six in a row when their direct competitor, one whichever the competition exists with, wasn't present in the league. Can't dispute that they've won league titles in out absense, but not against us.

25 Jun 2017 08:50:56
Alrus blue

You only beat what's in front of you and it wasn't there fault we weren't in the league for 4 years. If the roles were reversed I'm sure we would all be claiming 6 in a row. I'd much rather we did our talking on the park

25 Jun 2017 08:50:57
I love his comments to be honest
It sends that lot into a full sevco meltdown

25 Jun 2017 09:05:38
Bengy

I agree you can only beat what's in front of you as it wasn't their fault we were out of the league. Never disputed that. I'm not trying to push that these league titles as titles are invalid. They are still titles. All I'm saying is King has a point that titles were won in that period when we weren't present to compete, can't count in a competition against an absent opponent. There's an article in the record trying to discount kings words. but it fails badly to counter argue against them. Glaring holes in their logic.

25 Jun 2017 09:13:35
Why should he. Give them it stinking that's what I think they don't think twice when it comes to slagging us off

25 Jun 2017 09:47:27
DK has achieved his objective. It's out there and we're back! If it upsets them and anyone else, then that is purely their problem. We have had years of abuse with no real comeback but I do agree this has to be backed up on the park

25 Jun 2017 10:00:33
King could be more careful in his selection of words and let the team do its talking on the park. Like many fans I was shocked at the poor quality of the teams in the premier league. The fact that we finished a very distant third was even more shocking. We have a long road ahead of us if we are to win this league.

25 Jun 2017 10:29:39
If it's league titles won and with you can only play whos in front of you mentality does that make us sit at 57 league titles as we won the 3rd division 1st divison and championship titles we can't help it if Pacific shelf wernt there 🤣

25 Jun 2017 03:15:22
So anyone wanna take a guess as too how long it will take to do a Mexican wave at ibrox I say 35 mins lol.

25 Jun 2017 01:32:15
Kenny is a blue nose so it's up 2 Aberdeenbut would love 2 see him there he's a great player and 1 of our own!

25 Jun 2017 00:13:42
Does anyone think we will get a "marque" signing this summer or is it a case of fill more needed positions? Thoughts bears?

25 Jun 2017 02:16:08
Can see a big name before the window shuts. We should sign at least 5 more left back a right back centre mid goalkeeper and winger. International class in each position. Would love Weiss for the wing. Hopefully get rid of the deadwood also. Wouldn't be sad to see any of last season players leave to be honest.

25 Jun 2017 06:00:56
Waghorns work rate is unquestionable his finishing is non existent

24 Jun 2017 22:49:53
Aberdeen asure manager McLean will not be sold to rangers this summer that puts paid to that

25 Jun 2017 10:16:42
Take him on a free next year. He wants to come so let the sheep sweat over a fee or no fee. I can see him coming in Jan after there league and Euro campaign Is over.
As much as I'd like Walker in now I'd play similar with him.

24 Jun 2017 22:38:12
After Dorian's or McLean I would say that's us for midfield would like to see another striker to come in

In the two friendly we could not score the 1-1 Draw was an own goal so we did not score in that game and could not manage a goal against st Johnston I know the columbian did only play for 20 mins each game and the Mexican did not play but would like xtra cover in case they can't adapt to the Scottish game or injurys would like to see us buy moult just as another option will get him for buttons and could do a deal for ohaloran on loan to them for a year
