23 Jun 2016 21:38:14
I;m wondering if Gilks isn't happy because he wants first team football and NOT a seat on the bench?
I think he is a better keeper than Foderingham, but it can't be easy trying to keep two good men happy?
It seems to be a stalemate situation because its taking too long to decide.

24 Jun 2016 12:39:41
who says he isn't happy? just because it has been 2 days since papers said we are interested in him and he hasn't signed doesn't mean anything. Most deals take a few weeks. Listen to Niko he said he decided to join when MW was in New York and it then took 3 weeks for it be completed.

23 Jun 2016 21:04:12
Halliday no way a starter imo.

23 Jun 2016 21:06:31
A don't see him a regular this season either to be honest even holt could struggle and am a big fan of his.

23 Jun 2016 21:49:38
U never no who will be fit remember we start in that shitty new cup comp group that's a good time to rotate the squad and find the best team for the league. And past performances don't meen much new season so everyone is in with a shout it's a good squad maybe afew more in the door.

23 Jun 2016 22:19:17
Said weeks ago that wee Holty and Andy Halliday would
not be in our starting eleven and got slated, wonder if same guys still think same way!

24 Jun 2016 00:57:21
Got to remember Holt is young and Halliday not much older so I think these guys will respect the fact that guys like Barton and Niko are ahead of them and that they still have a huge future at Ibrox, they will benefit hugely learning and developing with these guys. Holt and Halliday will still be at Ibrox after Barton and Niko have served the club and they will then establish themselves as 1st picks as I really do have high hopes for both.

24 Jun 2016 04:28:20
Good headache for warbs to have right enough lads. A few different options.

24 Jun 2016 11:55:33
Halliday and Holt will still play a massive part this year. The manager will rotate line ups and bring on 2 players on the hour mark to freshen. Everyone will get their chance. Even Law and Shields got their chance last year, they just never took it.

23 Jun 2016 20:27:11
What's everyone's best starting 11 so far then? (Obviously this is guess work at this stage) thoughts:

Gilks

Wallace
Wilson
Hill
Tavernier

Krancjar
Barton
Halliday

Mckay
Bradshaw
Waghorn.

23 Jun 2016 22:53:59
Gilks will be back-up to Wes Fod, warburton likes him he will be number 1 again this season.

24 Jun 2016 06:46:49
Kiernan instead of Wilson always need one CB with a bit of pace rather than wearing lead boots and in all honesty I can't see halliday getting as much game time as people think, I think he will be used as back up for CDM and LB.

24 Jun 2016 09:06:07
Wilson has pace, and pulled out fat more last ditch challenges/ made less mistakes than RK, people forget Wilson was injured at the start of the season and we had no cover so he had to play.

24 Jun 2016 09:51:20

23 Jun 2016 19:33:41
would just like to wish Stilian Petrov the best of luck with his comeback. He's had a long 4 year battle, hope its all in the past for him.

23 Jun 2016 19:54:18
Yes I think all Rangers people would agree with that. Stan is a good guy and a good professional
Best Wishes from me and all RFC fans. keep well and enjoy your football.

23 Jun 2016 20:27:00
ditto to that. all the best stan from everyone in blue land.

23 Jun 2016 21:28:13
What a guy after everything that he has been through what a great example he will be to young and old at the club never gave up and showing the the desire to turn things around no matter how bad things were, well done and all the best.

23 Jun 2016 22:03:32
Yep, all the very best to him. If you don't have your health, all the money in the world is useless. Hopefully he will be able to tie his laces better these days though, he sometimes used to trip over them a lot back in the day. Take cover!

23 Jun 2016 22:52:21
Definitely what a fight from him and family, good on you stan also a cracking player.

24 Jun 2016 10:55:45
Really lovely posts guys, I wish Stan petrov all the very best in whatever he does in his life.

24 Jun 2016 12:07:09
Yip, not much I can add to all the above good luck messages to stan petrov, good luck mate you deserve all the best of luck from what you've came through in your own personal fight which you won! Terrific person and great footballer, from another member of the rangers family, brilliant to see you back stan!

24 Jun 2016 16:00:40
Will be a remarkable achievement for a very brave guy. As much as I didn't like him as a player (always very dangerous as a player) it will still be a fairytale moment for a guy who's had an excellent career. Top professional, top player and overall an excellent example oh how these battles can b overcome. Well done Stan n the best of luck to u and u'r family for the future from all us bears.

23 Jun 2016 19:18:27
Ashley has lost in court again it's becoming a common thing they have worse results in court than Newcastle in the prem last season.

23 Jun 2016 21:22:14
Pity he's still got a titanium grip on retail tho!

23 Jun 2016 19:03:52
Just watched the Niko Kranjcar interview and was struck by the shear quality and intellect of the guy. Talked a great interview displaying insight, respect, ambition, professionalism and possibly a slight distain for the quality of question being asked. A really polished performance, reminiscent of Ian Black I thought, HA HA! A true measure of how far we have come - Black to Kranjcar! Just hope he stays fit and we see the best of what he has to offer. Welcome Niko.

23 Jun 2016 19:55:39
Not even funny! Shouldn't be disrespectful to former players. And for the record I liked Ian Black and whatever faults you can pick on the guy, I tell you what, he could play football. Let's concentrate on moving forward with the good work being done now.

23 Jun 2016 20:09:12
You can if they where pish.

23 Jun 2016 20:33:16
😂😂 Ryan 👏🏼👏🏼.

23 Jun 2016 22:17:23
Don't believe in slagging off ex or current players, but Ian Black a good footballer, come on seriously.

23 Jun 2016 22:27:50
Each to their own! I thought Black was a massive disappointment and for the money he was on, we had the right to expect much more, considering the opposition he was playing against.

Can't recall many stand out performances in a Rangers shirt and was more than happy to see him go. Just my opinion though and just because Rangers released him doesn't mean he couldn't play football, there might have been other reasons. The positive is we are moving forward and signing some players with fantastic footballing pedigrees which is an absolute delight, especially after some of the dross we have had to endure immediately pre MW.

Measuring the progress in the development of the team by comparing the calibre of players and signings pre and post MW seems a reasonable thing to do and I shall continue to take comfort from it. In the end though it is results and trophies that count so let's hope the new Rangers deliver all they promise and 55 is soon ours.

23 Jun 2016 23:51:17
Dunbar blue

What impressed you most about Black? Was it all those great performances for the team? Or was it when he bet against his own team? Truly awful player who embarrassed the club born on and off the park.

24 Jun 2016 00:53:13
I remember meeting black at the hydro at the john bishop show, me and a few of my mates thanked him for coming to us, guy turned out to be a total plank bragging about cash and all of us just thinkin wtf is this guy been smoking, on the park aswell he was total sh1te, he's a absolute fud.

24 Jun 2016 02:05:44
Seem to have drawn a bit of flack on this one. Obviously I never had the pleasure of meeting him at the Hydro and can't comment on that, I am entitled to my opinion that I don't like our ex players being belittled or mocked and Biffo you asked what I liked about him as a player so again my opinion, I liked him because no matter how poorly our team was playing or indeed if he wasn't having a good game or he was taking pelters from the fans he was always brave to take the ball in any area, he could control the ball with both feet, he could tackle, for a wee guy he was decent in the air and again in my opinion was a better player than a lot of the players playing around him in midfield. When he was replaced by other players they were Kyle Hutton and young Murdoch, both who in my opinion again were not as effective as Ian Black. I have no problem that others have different opinions but was making the point that I don't like slagging Rangers players as its not necessary . That's it guys.

24 Jun 2016 04:37:24
Listen mate if guys on here want to comment on Ian black being single fish it's up to them. You have your opinions and others have their own. I kept sticking up for him expecting him to come good and he never did. Bet against us and any time he played against us he tried his heart out and snapped our players then all he done for us was get kicked about the lower leagues and complained like some daft wee lassie. Not the worst but still nowhere near good enough.

24 Jun 2016 07:57:17
That's fine guys, gave my opinion, that's all. I am moving on and concentrating on the good stuff that's happening now. Thanks Dunbar Blue😊.

24 Jun 2016 11:00:39
Ian black was a joke, he should never have been signed by mcCoist, total waste of a wage, I'm so glad how far the club has changed since those days.

24 Jun 2016 12:09:03
Well said Dunbar Blue - it's only banter. Would rather have had the craic over a pint down the pub than on a forum but there you go. In the meantime got to get ready to head off down the pub with my English friends and neighbours to watch the Euros - come on Iceland - just for the craic of course and the your fish fingers which are excellent!

24 Jun 2016 14:18:32
Thanks Ritereg, I liked your post was really balanced. I would enjoy a pint with you and the craic for sure and io am also enjoying good banter with my English pals but they always trump me with the " how's your team doing" banter. Like yourself I'm really looking forward to how this season pans out and although we clearly all have different opinions we all want the best for the Rangers.

23 Jun 2016 18:55:23
Loving the new signings that Warburton has made so far a lot of attacking options. I'm not convinced with our current no1 goal keeper and are defence. Why don't we go for out of contract Taylor had a decent career at Newcastle and hull always played at top level and has plenty of experience.

23 Jun 2016 18:42:03
What is quite satisfying just now also is the players that Celtic are being linked with. Some are having massive price tags slapped on them and the ones they have put in offers for have had the bids rejected.

Brenda will need to get his finger out otherwise he'll not have his ducks all in a row for the qualifiers!

23 Jun 2016 20:01:32
Out of curiosity could you tell me the players Celtic have been putting bids in for and being rejected? And the only players we've been linked with are players who previously worked with Rodgers so the red tops are trying to put 2+2 together because they haven't a scooby who we're interested in.

23 Jun 2016 20:08:23
Wasn't that long ago Rodgers was getting linked to trannies lol😂.

23 Jun 2016 23:51:00
Joe Allan 10mill and Scott Sinclair rejected.

23 Jun 2016 21:53:27
Haha recbob, how dare you speak about that, don't you know if you speak about it it makes you a bad person and you're a degenerate if the person you are on about has got anything to do with celtic, at least we know he likes his teams to play the baws short and sometimes swing them in from behind.

23 Jun 2016 23:52:38
Heard there was talk of Joe Allen then Liverpool put a price tag of £10m on him. The talk stopped after that.

24 Jun 2016 04:39:19
But he's already stated money is no object😂😂😂.

24 Jun 2016 11:06:55
Listen guys don't be fooled Celtic will spend money this summer, they already have a good squad and they totally under achieved with Ronny in charge, Brendan Rodgers is a good man manager and I expect the Celtic players to perform to a higher standard, but I'm really looking forward to the new season as I love the work the rangers are doing in the transfer market, we are in such a better place now and are building potentially a very good team, roll on August.

23 Jun 2016 18:00:56
Team Lineup Next Season People?

23 Jun 2016 19:01:03
1st team
Gilks
Tav mariappa Hill waldo
Rossiter Crooks barton
Nico Waggy mckay

Reserves
Wes
Wilson kiernan (new loan player)
Holt Windass Halliday (new loan player)
MOH Kenny (New striker)

How's good does that look.

23 Jun 2016 19:36:15
Wes will be number 1 to start the season.

23 Jun 2016 19:51:13
Wes
Tav mariappa Wilson wallace
Barton rossiter
Kranjcar
Mckay wahgorn forester.

23 Jun 2016 22:02:22
Cee I like the look of your starting 11, however still think we need a top striker plus not convinced at all on wes in goal. He doesn't install confidence!

24 Jun 2016 01:07:16
Replace Wilson with Hill and yeah can see them runnin out at Ibrox guys.

24 Jun 2016 04:41:19
Wilson will come good. I know I'll get slated for this but just wait n see.

23 Jun 2016 17:20:15
Mike Ashley will have to pay the legal costs of Rangers chairman Dave King and the Scottish Football Association (SFA) after abandoning a legal challenge.

Another little win.

23 Jun 2016 18:35:54
I hope it's the war we win bob but as the saying goes, every little helps.

23 Jun 2016 22:31:46
Agree with you mate, these are like little throat jabs but Ashley must be getting a little annoyed with us by now. Here's hoping anyway.

23 Jun 2016 16:18:03
Is t just me who enjoys seeing all the new players being assigned numbers, don't think they've done that at all this year apart from Joey Barton being our new number 8.

23 Jun 2016 14:45:34
Anyone heard anything on how long Matt Crooks will be out for?

23 Jun 2016 14:41:27
Like all fans, delighted the Kranjcar deal is sorted and he's now part of our great club.

Through the centre of the team we have great experience now with Hill, Barton, kranjcar and Miller with the chance of Gilks coming in.

As always though, possibly the last permanent signing, along with Mariappa hopefully, will be a centre forward. Don't think anyone's doubting that.

Do we think it'll be as big as the deals for Kranjcar and Barton?

Heard a site mentioned Sordell for Rangers but think it was just a suggestion. Can't wait to see who Warburton, Weir and McParland have up their sleeves.

23 Jun 2016 13:20:04
@scotscottish87 I missed your reply so I am replying now mate.

'the days of a shot stopper are gone'

Seriously? that skill is no longer required? You want a keeper that plays as a sweeper? I think the truth is both you and I know far less about Gilks than McParland, Weir or Warburton mate. On their current record if they feel Gilks is a good stand in keeper then that will do me. i've seen Gilks a good few times. For me he as ability. The keeper you are describing is Neur. Not sure we can afford him.

23 Jun 2016 16:51:52
GDog surety the main job for every goalkeeper at every level of football in the world is to stop shots! You don't become an elite level GK without this skills. So I stick by by comment, I absolutely would love a sweeper keeper. Especially since we were found out with the long ball over the top! A sweeper keeper would gobble up any long balls. I'm not asking for Neuer. But I would like a commanding keeper that can come off his line.

23 Jun 2016 13:16:32
Can't get threw to rangers to get a season ticket keeps cutting me off any ideas ed.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, lots of people on here have complained about the phone system, you just have to keep trying I think.}

23 Jun 2016 14:26:55
Just keep trying the phoneline, eventually you'll get through and put to the back of the queue! Took me about 20 minutes yesterday mate.

23 Jun 2016 15:04:45
If it's to buy one I just did it online. Too much hassle and cost to get through on the ticket office, 13p per minute!

23 Jun 2016 21:53:47
The ticket office is always a nightmare no matter what time of year you phone! costs a bloody fortune too better off online.

23 Jun 2016 12:57:31
So MB said we need extra cover up front. I'm enjoying the signings made so far and brining in a level of experience.

My Japanese colleagues mentioned Jay Bothroyd looking to return to UK and he's be scoring for fun in the J League. worth a punt?

23 Jun 2016 12:46:59
Anyone have an idea what injury Matt crooks has and how long he's ruled out for?

23 Jun 2016 12:44:34
I'm suprised there's been no real mention of UEFA laughing out the res12 case again on here. I seen the Celtic fans even managed to get their plight printed in Private Eye. It's a shame no one told them nobody's read that magazine since the 80's, they would have been as well printing it in the Beano or some obscure Swiss newspaper lol.
They must hate UEFA, refusing to make them the most successful team on the planet, by default.
Be interesting to see what excuses they come up with next year when we take back our title. It'll be comical, that's for sure.

23 Jun 2016 12:56:47
they will prob just set their sights on trying to find a way of getting back into the champs league when they are put out. lol
im sure they have someone hired to check every opposing teams registration details.

23 Jun 2016 20:11:17
If you canny beat them, take them to court.

23 Jun 2016 11:56:40
Right guys 2 things here.

1st, any news on any other signings coming in that niko is over the line. I posted last week about the German guys. Do you think we should be looking at home grown Gers fans to play as a striker I'm sure there is one or two in the ranks to be good?

2nd. Right all this hype about these players coming in. But do any of you think they could be flops, as in the past both the old firm have brought in big players and they shine for a few games and nothing after it. Well more so Celtic than Rangers. The style that Warbs plays is great and exciting to watch even tho we concede a few goals but that's what football is about. But was talking to a guy in work and we both came to the same agreement on this new look Gers team. We need to play every game like we did in the semifinals against Celtic or we will be played off the park when it comes to it.

Thoughts?

23 Jun 2016 12:10:26
Disagree mate with the players we have got don't think we will get played off the park every game we will have to play a lot better against Aberdeen hearts and the other side but getting played off the park is abit strong our players we r bringing in have took a wage cut that proves they r hungry and not here to bleed the club that shows there here for the right reasons to play football and win matches cups the league and to go into the champions league so that's all I can say about that disagree with u.

23 Jun 2016 12:18:45
Teeboy my opinion is we would have ran Celtic close with the team that beat them in the semi anyway. The fact that we've added 6 players so far of genuine quality only enhances my original thought. The way we play with guys like Barton, Rossiter and Niko spraying the passes about will overwhelm any midfield in that league. Holt, Halliday and Ball ran amok against the best the league has to offer and they are now back up.
I said here yesterday that Rodgers has overestimated his squad by sticking with them all and got 6 people disagreeing with it but I still believe it to be true. If he had any sense he would have had a mass clear out of that squad and started from sctratch like MW done. Celtic have Griffiths, Kierney and Roberts who are decent, the rest of the squad is vastly overrated and I'm sure we will prove it. as for Hearts and Aberdeen, like Barton said about Broon, their simply not in our league.

23 Jun 2016 12:24:22
Well said mate it's not about what they can do individually it's about clicking as a team tho. Do you think they will click tho.

Look at Belgium all individually great players but in this euros as a team they ain't clicked. But then again playing week in and week out surely they must and should click.

23 Jun 2016 11:21:33
just wondering if there is news or rumours about new coaching additions or will the senior players play that part?

im thinking if hill, barton, gilks, and miller are used in that capacity it would be more benificial as an integrated team coach than someone standing on the touchline/ training park?

just a thought.

23 Jun 2016 11:19:34
Joey Barton/ Nico Krankjar song

To the song NO LIMIT

Same as Kolo Toure song?!?

Why not. 12 cans and I'm singing it this weekend.

23 Jun 2016 11:09:54
Why don't we push the boat out and get another proper striker? . We've spent £350k in fees so we must be able to raise a few quid. Why not Lafferty or there must be a finisher kicking around in the Spanish lower leagues for instance.

Might I add that I think we've just obtained 6 players worth around £10-£15m quid for next to hee haw.

Not sure about Gilks but assuming he'll sign, a striker and Marriappa and we've got a real team sorted now.

23 Jun 2016 11:29:00
I'd go for cummings or hemmings.

23 Jun 2016 12:05:04
id go for adam rooney much better that Cummings if we are to looking in the Scottish league that is.

I hope we actually look for better than them a well known goalscorer! (suarez) lmao

but an out and out goalscorer would be all we need with the signing of marriappa.

23 Jun 2016 12:07:27
Been harping on about Cummings since before Xmas Cee. I know he's not liked etc and has/ had a bad attitude but for me it's all about the team, Glasgow Rangers. I don't particularly like Joey and I despised Diouf but as soon as they signed I got right behind them because they wore the blue of our team.
Cummings IMO is a good striker and can become an even better striker. There is a certain guille about him that I admire. The Hat et al could sort him out I'm sure. A couple of seasons with us and there's your resale value right there.

23 Jun 2016 12:24:19
Lennon would never sell him and potentially hurt is beloved septic. And why even bother dealing with Hibs again. Let them rot in the Championship with celtic rejects. We can do better than Cummings. Not to say he wouldn't score goals because he would but because there are better players out there that don't come with the hassle of dealing with Hibs or Lennon.
I still hold out for a striker of the same quality as Barton and Niko. Why add that kind of quality to the midfield to lump some Scottish championship/ SPFL level striker in front of them, I'd rather have Waggy up top than Cummings or Hemmings.

23 Jun 2016 12:50:18
I think we have a ready made striker already in yoing ryan hardie with the right service that lad knows were the goal is.

23 Jun 2016 11:04:38
Bears, delighted with the kranjcar signing, This boy will gie us that Wee bit of creativity, Barton will gie us that bit of dig we've been badly needing, exiting times fellow bears, 👍👍, The gaffers just said he's hoping to add another 3 or 4 yet too, I personally think warbs has been given around 2-3 million to spend including wages, and the business he's done so far has been superb, Don't rule out an actual transfer fee to another club yet for a striker, Think that's what he's planning👍👍.

23 Jun 2016 10:12:18
Deal done Niko signed 2 year deal
Source ssn now.

23 Jun 2016 10:31:26
Now officially on Rangers FC website. Class signing.

23 Jun 2016 10:10:50
Does anyone know what the plans are for Andy Murdoch?
Great wee player!

23 Jun 2016 12:27:29
Murdoch and the boy Thompson should go to a SPFL team on loan for 6 months see how the do. Hardie I would keep and play in the cups and late on in games, see what he can do. I think this year will be really competitive and the young guys could struggle for game time.

23 Jun 2016 13:02:07
Alex Rae mentioned that he was expecting several rangers players on loan.

23 Jun 2016 09:52:24
Not totally a Rangers rumour here but former gers defender Luca gasporotto has joined Falkirk after we released him. Hope the guy does well, always thought he was unlucky not to get a chance here, especially considering our defence wasn't great. But best of luck to him.

23 Jun 2016 09:06:06
Going by what Mark Warburton has been saying regarding possible transfer deals. I would say that we'll have in place 10 new players for the start of the season. And i think all will be permanent signings. But do you think he'll go back into the Market for a couple of loan signings when the premiership squads confirmed. And if he did which area of the team would you like to see him strengthen further. I must say i am absolutely delighted with business done so far. Long may it continue.

Signing Possibly Thus far
1.Josh Windass Attacking Midfielder
2. Matt Crooks Defender/ MMidfielder
3. Jordan Rossiter Midfielder
4. Joey Barton Midfielder
5. Clint Hill Centre Back
6. Niko Kranjcar Attacking Midfielder
7. Matt Gilks Goalkeeper
8. Centre Back possibly Adrian Mariappa?
9. Defender that can play either Left back/ Right back possibly Lee Hodson?
10. Striker.

23 Jun 2016 07:55:14
Posted here some weeks back about striker
Jay Simpson of Leyton Orient, 27 years
old. Stats are 48 games 25 goals and 3 assists. Market value around 400k, think he
could be a good buy for us, any thoughts
from fellow bears.

23 Jun 2016 07:52:42
I know we're looking for experience but why are we getting all these players over the hill and past there best with no sell on value and giving them 2 year deals. I can understand 1/ 2 but 3/ 4/ 5 is a bit much. I think we need more middle aged players not just young or old but a few decent mid-late 20s. I trust warbs but the signings ain't getting me excited, I like to think of myself having a good football knowledge and although these players might be good in spfl they just don't grab me as Rangers players. I just have a nervy feeling and prob woke up at the wrong side of bed. So thought I'd just write a wee post. I think we should look at other markets than English. Add a nice flair player someone with a bit of drive and skill. And before anyone says we don't have millions for this kind of player just remember the mob across the city Larson less than £500,000 and in recent times maryes (bad spelling) from Leicester cost less than £500,000 so the players are out there we just need to find and our frank is supposed to be one of the best in the business.

FFS get a grip man. We need to work within our means. Until we are on stable financial ground I will be quite happy taking free agents that the gaffer believes in. I bet last year you weren't happy with us signing waggy and Tav who you'd never heard of for a couple of thousand grand. I'm absolutely delighted with our business so far. If we had been taking Hill Barton Nico 4 years younger they would all be looking at a hefty fee and double the wages. They will all do a job for us this and next year. Look at Davy Weir who won a title at 40. I TRUST THE HAT SO SHOULD U.

If Gilks does sign, I hope we don't bring in another keeper. Surely Liam Kelly is a sufficient 3rd choice and I would like to see Robby McCrorie eventually come through the ranks.

Also I have always been abit sceptical of big Wes but looking back at the semi-finally he pulled of a couple of cracking saves (the freekick and from Rogic near the end of extra time) . I think with a good defense infront of him he can come on leaps and bounds.

What are your thoughts fellow bears?

P. S. does anyone know whta is happeneing with Aird? (I personally I would like him to stay)

Aird signed with Vancouver Whitecaps for a season long loan on 29th June 2016. So he'll be back for January.

Also agree with Liam Kelly, not seen him at all but apparently he had an amazing season for East fife last year, during his loan. Surely he's got a bit of talent to compete!

I totally understand where people r coming from regarding wes as sometimes he makes me nervous but that's the way we play from the back. He's still young for a keeper and has made some cracking saves last season and I agree he'll come on leaps n bounds with a more solid defence. I'm not comparing him to goram but even the goalie had a terrible start.

Very average keeper that will be shown up in premiership.
