Kyle Bartley will not get many games at Arsenal this year who have to prove a point from having a dismill season for their standards
Time for Arsene Wenger to loan his player out this season, it can't do him any harm he will get more experience under his belt @ Ibrox

Believable3 Unbelievable0

He'll get plenty at Bolton though

Guys i think today is the day we all freak out over nothing. The gers will be fine. Hearts played the best they will play at ibrox all year. Yes we need new players but cool the feck down and relax. Ally will get us 3 points next week and a win in cl trust me.

Mccoist in paper today saying he wants another5 players in. After that today we could do with 8 or 9 why oh why did we tie Whittaker to a big money deal the guy is just an average player either good or crap 9times out of 10 crap broadfoot wil never be a football player Ortiz well am faster than him and am 18 stone but we will get there warp

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I would go for the 48 players in 2-3 hours approach myself

Agree0 Disagree0

Ortiz may not be the fastest but hes got a great first touch and on the occassions where he was able to turn onto his stronger foot looked a good passer and decent going forward. Still, first half he made that aussie full back look like carlos puyol...

Celtic Fan In Peace Watched The Game Today And Altho Ppl Are Sayin Ortiz Didnt Have A Gd Game He Held The Ball Up Well Just Unfortunate In My Opinon That He Was On The Wrong Wing ... Jelavic Is Frightening The Way He Holds The Ball His Abilty to Turn And Shoot Is A 25 30 gOAL A Season Striker Think Hearts Played Well Tho ... If A Was A Ragers Man I Would Be Sayin We Bought The Wrong Hearts Player For Me Templeton Would Suit Rangers ... Thanks For Lettin A Cfc Man Speak His Mind

I hope boogy does one myself. His heid's perpetually up his @rsehole and I don't really think he's too interested now personally. He's the worst kind of player- thinks he's multiple times better than he is so gets in trouble all the time 'cause he's only franz beckenbauer in his heid and no on the park. Rubbish players who know they're rubbish at least don't constantly over-play. I feared the worst when I heard it was him beside captain kirk the day. No sure why Wallace didnae play lb with Sasa in beside boogy bombscare. Ally obviously needs a bit of time just like the owner. Second half was much improved at least, though it could scarcely have got worse. Still, they've no even got a keeper. Too bad it's basically a bye for them tomorrow at pshy hibs.

say what you want about kenny miller.but were else are we gonna get a player who has a proven goalscoring record in the spl for 850,000. rangers should have just paid the extra 450,000 for him.he would be perfect for jelavic.

a mean we upped our offer by 1.2 million for wallace from the original 300,000.

and on that matter why did we sign papac on anither years contract to shell that amount of money on another left back. ano wallace is for the future but why not just wait and get him on a pre contract for next season and spent the 1.5 on goodwillie or cuellars wages

Believable2 Unbelievable1

100% agree..... Wallace is a very very strange signing....Papac is solid , Ortiz can and has played there, Whittaker and broadfoot can fill in too.

A 1.5m player, must go into the team....Rangers cannot pay 1.5m for a squad player.

We are losing out on players for the sake of 100-200k, yet pay 1.5m for a player we could sign for free in 6 months time, and for a position we are well covered for.....this is not making sense.

Murray Davidson is around the same age, been around the Scotland set up too....but amazingly, we bid 150,000 for him, and he is still under contract and not free to sign for nothing in January....not saying Davidson is what we need, but just looking at the similarities......Listen....anyone thinks i'm talking pish, feel free to tell me....just looking to see if you can shed any light on what i think is a very weird set of circumstances..

Agree0 Disagree0

Know what you mean about miller, but paying £ for Goodwillie wouldnt be good business sense (something the boy seems to lack just look who his QC is) As for paying Carlos £40k a week that would probably cause bust up in dressing room

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 20:58:26
Some people are just putting a downer on a title winning party today. Yes the result wasn't as hoped, Rangers are champions and we would have liked to have got of to a winning start, but we didn't we drew and it's only the first game of the season so people who are bringing Rangers down after one result you are not true supporters.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Edu just needs to get his confidence back

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 21:53:16
Out of interest who here rates Edu? Agree- rate him, disagree-don't rate him. Personally thought he was our best midfielder today and would love to see him do well.

GovanFR

Believable8 Unbelievable8

I think we are struggling if you think Edu was good today, he was better than he has been, but what exactly came from him today, a couple of decent runs, then ran into an opponent or gave the ball away........i thought at one time he was going to be a superster, but not now.....there was also an instance today when he bounced off a Hearts player onto the ground as if he weighed 4 stone, ........he'll not do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate he was murder (norm) but hey ho so was mculloch, cant play in same team , ally

Why do we need a new cm when we have got edu Davis ness Ortiz and mcculloch?
And why is everyone saying that Ortiz is rubbish? Ok so he had one bad game when he was play out of position. Even still he put in a few good crosses and won us a few corners
And lastly it was the first game of te season. There is obviously going to be some areas to be fixed

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I would rather Ally played Ness or Hutton alongside Davis in midfield. Although Davis played well today he is much more of an influence on the game in his preferred central role. It's a lot to ask of the young guns to play week in week out, so I can see a need for reinforcements. As for Edu and McCulloch they should not be played together in midfield, they contribute little or nothing going forward, on a good day (not today) they break up play, but we have to expect more from our midfield players.

BigGordi (Govan East Corner)

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 20:35:32
Was at the game today and i could not believe how defensive we were in the game

When Hearts had a corner we had every player back defending. Surely if we kept 2 up they would need to keep 3 back??

Also the long ball all day to Jelavic was not working as even when the big man was controlling it, the midfield were miles behind the play and we lost possession.

Passing was atrocious and Ortiz debut was stinking. Why play him on the left when he is right footed although he played on the left loads of times for his previuos club. No pace to get past the defender

We need a CB CM LM and striker asap but im sure it will come.

Shagger and papac were excellent and a big round of applause for the atmosphere lads

Heads up and power on WATP

23 Jul 2011 20:29:14
I don't think I need to give the players or Ally a break, they get paid more in a week than I do in a year. I would get a rollocking for such a poor performance at work.

Maybe if I got paid 26 k a week I could afford to go to these ridiculously overpriced matches.

I agree that Kerkar and Healy should not have been given a contract. The money would have been better spent on footballers, not people who can't even make the bench.

The old firm investing in people with no experience in football management is just an example of the cost cutting going on. Glad you like to invest in a club that can't even get a proper manager in. Ally and Lennon should be managing wee teams to get some experience first.

Maybe we could make Kerkar the manager next season eh

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Great post mate but expect to get tore to shred on here.We are all meant to say that everything in teh garden is rosy when it so clearly isn't.But we can't say that incase Celtic fans see it can we, it's a bit pathetic when people can't voice their opinions without being accused of not supporting the club. To many kids on here that probably don't even go to games but sit and play FIFA and think that is real life.Well I am a Rangers supporter, season ticket the lot, home and away and I am saying that this team is a shambles, our owner has no intention of putting money into the club and our manager didn't have a clue what to do after we went 1-0 down.If you don't like it then tough but don't ever question my loyalty to the club, just because I know there is something far wrong at Ibrox and you lot won't admit it I will, we have no chance of 4iar unless ther is major money spent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly our manager changed it at 1 0 down at half time as for our new owner settle down he done more in 3 months than Mr Murray done in the last 3 years as for the team we will finish first or second as the old firm always do so calm down one draw and you all jump in at the owner as for manager and costcutting did you think we were going to get a big name its the spl behave yourself i will not question your loyalty but if you are unhappy don't pay your hard earned cash you have a choice

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should he have to change it at half time. He chose the formation, selected the team and their positions, opting to play several players out of position. He should have got it near right in the first place but did not. The goal came from Papac & Naismith having vision and skill, not from Ally sitting in the stand with his tie on.
It's true to say Murray was washing his hands of the club in the end, however you can't dismiss all the money he invested to bring in good squads for many a year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know what the panic is, we only lost duiff, bartley and weis from last seasons title winning squad and out of them, they didnt excactly play alot of games, give ortiz time to settle, play wallace at lb and put papac at his natural cb position, get another striker in. start playing wylde on the left and ortiz on the right and that will give u alot more width. could do with 3 more players id say, st, cb and cm.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 20:28:26
Ortiz will be a good signing. The hearts left back has pace to burn. Give him a chance and he will show his worth. We only drew 4 games last season and I can't see us drawing many more this season. We do need to freshen up the team. Papac played well but I would rather he was at cb rather than broadfoot. We should have given Wallace a start against his old club. Why start with Davis on the right wing when we had Ortiz playing on the left. Who knows but we will still be ok people. It wasn't the last game of the season it was the first.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

23 Jul 2011 20:22:23
Does anyone know why Ally didn't talk to the bbc after the game? I didn't get back to the car in time but I saw something mentioned on the bbc website that he'd spoken to the rest of the media but not radio scotland.

23 Jul 2011 20:17:53
i think Rangers need a player on the right wing because there seems to be nothing coming in over there get rid of mculloch as he is becoming a liability i would much rather see mo and davis in the middle. Honestly though Edu for defence in the middle and Davis as the more attacking option makes more sense than shoving davis or Edu on the wing where they are rotten.

23 Jul 2011 19:59:55
Just watched St Johnstone v Sheep on BBC Alba, would take Murray Davidson in a minute, strong, mobile, gets forward, shoots. Unfortunately none of this from edu and mculloch today, we are relying on boogie to attack far too much.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

23 Jul 2011 19:16:53
Are we selling ourselfs short being linked to and buying these 500k players like the romanian and ortiz .its not as if they are new talents to the game , unearthed young gems to mould into our game, they are in there late twenties and have a track record which we could track and neither has set the heather alight as well as some of these other targets .....or is this just the market we are dealing in, in scottish football now .ANBODY GOT AN ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY.

Give Ally and the boys a break. It's the first game of the season , new faces will come in and we will come good. Remember fellow Gers it's not how you start, it's how you finish. One more thing: To the person that said 'Jelavic is utter gash', Go have your head examined Dunkie Bear.

Our draw slip up today (which i'm not too disappointed about) could be a blessing in disguise maybe Craig Whyte will see that we had nobody on the bench who could be relied on to come on and score a goal. Win, lose or draw -

Believable3 Unbelievable1

23 Jul 2011 18:17:55
I was at tge game today and I don't know if people agree but here are

Mcgregor all round good performance - should be the captain

Papac - great game why we just spent money on a player who plays in same place godknows

Broadfoot - ok I suppose he's not a centre back if anything a good right back

Bougghie - started of good finished poorly defiantly missing weir

Whittaker - one of the players that craved to go forward but got caught out

Ortiz - I thought looked quite good I suppose time will tell

Edu - same old

Mcculluch - didn't see much of him all game had sone good challenges prob done his job well tho not inspirational

Davis - no way a captain there was no moment he looked a leader great player but no a captain ran all over pitch needs help to keep him in position where plays best

Naismith - good work rate has to finish chances hopefully hd will get touch quickly

Jelavic - missed lafferty up on his own struggled at least 3-4 games till he gets match touch back - every team is just going to put 1-2 players marking him .

Rangers main thing today missed a leader ie weir team looked like they were going in no direction at all

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I thought Whittaker was awful today. He never tries to get past his man and put a cross in. Edu had some decent moments and some really poor ones. Naismith worked hard but didn't get any luck. Ortiz looks like he'll be useful in Europe as he can control a ball and hold it up but he doesn't have the extra yard of pace we need in midfield.

We looked a lot better in the second half when we had 5 men in the middle but it left Jelavic isolated against 3 men. We missed Lafferty as he has the ability to unsettle a defence. We really need another striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he is on page if he is mentioning beging ether that or he is on school holidays not everybody can get junior club cards good luck with your education

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 18:14:12
I like all these people complaing saying I watched the game today basically everybody was rubbish, the key point is you were not at the game.

Buy a ticket put some cash into the club and then complain. It's the same old on here, people moaning and whining when they don't have any right to.

Oranjeboom

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Whilst not everyone can afford to go to games, most will contribute financially in some way or another, T.v money, merchandise, advertising so your assumption that Rangers rely solely on ticket sales is completely flawed and therefore supporters, who do not go to the games have as much right to express their opinions as people who attend matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whilst most people do contribute in some way via merchandise or tv money it still does not detract from the fact that ticket sales and especially season ticket sales and bums on seats gives the club a firm financial basis on which they can speculate for the season ahead.

All these people moaning about money not being spent should have a look at themselves. I would like to know how many of them have a season ticket.

Where would a club be without people turning up at games.

Oranjeboom

Agree0 Disagree0

Not all people can make the game mate, nor do all Gers fans live in Glasgow. I buy my overinflated costly strip every year and always buy merchandise etc. Also pay for rangers tv so i can watch the games so not as if by not going to the game you're not a true fan. Plus are you one of the fans at Ibrox who sit in complete silence for the whole game and only make noise to moan when things go wrong? I live abroad and go to all the games when I'm home and i think the atmosphere is awful. Never a peep until we score and i feel like a t**t for singin cos everyone else is sitting in silence. Sort it out if you're a true fan and make some noise instead of moanin

Agree0 Disagree0

I stand by my comments, a true supporter will make the effort to get to the game. There is people manage from ulster to thurso and beyond. Most of the people on here sit in their bedrooms and pull their plonker only stopping to watch the game on al jazeera, then come on and throw in their two pence worth.

Not all people but ill bet there are a good number.

Personally if we could replay the game I would have played McCulloch at CB instead of Broadfoot because there was no communication in the defense and that is something McCulloch is good at. Naismith at RM, CMs Davis and Edu, LM Ortiz and Jelavic and Healy up front.

AS a diehard bluenose i cant get my head around coisty offering healy and kerker new deals. these two players offer the club nothing. i fear the worst this season and believe that unless we sign a commanding centre back, a creative midfielder, a left sided player and a partner for jelavic then we're in trouble. yet again edu's contrabution is feeble, mcculloch lacks quality and there is no width in the team. already i fear for my club mr whyte get the checkbook out PLEASE

were chasing after all these other players that play abroad or down south, why are we not looking at bidding for the young lad templeton who ran us ragged today and also murphy at motherwell?

also hope we do get goodwillie that would be a great signing.

agree? or disagree?

Believable8 Unbelievable1

23 Jul 2011 16:25:51
rangers should try for jamie murphy from motherwell

Believable6 Unbelievable2

The lad is constantly scoreing even last season and today why cant rangers see this , championship team will steal the boy right under allys nose, splash the cash on the boy we cant loose the boys got a sell on vallue down the line 5 yrs down the line if he signs with the bears.

Jamie Murphy would be a great signing and has a great eye for goal scored a few for well in Europe something we could be doing with

I can't believe the amount of people pinning the blam on Mo Edu after todays game. He was one of our better players along with Davis, Papac and Shagger He made minimal mistakes and worked his socks off, giving everything for the shirt ... far more than can be said for s**ttaker, Bougy, Broadfoot, McCulloch, Ortiz and even Jelavic in todays game Get a grip and give the boy a chance.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

23 Jul 2011 16:14:36
come on we saw it today ortiz wasnt beating the defenders so we need better winger and as iv said before estigarribia. (paraguian) not the most prolific goal scorer but will provide alot of goals.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

His value will sore after the copa america.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watched him twice fast and tricky does a good defensive job all positives but like most wingers these days cannot cross a ball would be worth a punt at a decent price

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 15:37:45
whittaker would have been better in right or even cetnre of midfield. Looks like we are going to have to rely on David Weir for another season. We wouldnt have lost that goal today if he was in the team. I think if he do get a centre back, they will be worht about 67 pence, and be employed as a bench warmer. I think we might be doing well to get third place this season.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

23 Jul 2011 15:21:51
I watched the game today. It seemed we were playing Celtic in the first half. Hearts had Rangers all over the shop. Couldn;t string a pass together. The only one that showed attacking quality was Papac setting up the goal. I was really disappointed with Ortiz. He was megapoor on the left in attack. Only promising sign is that most of the time he is composed with the ball at his feet, but is slow. I agree putting Edu and McCulloch together was a poor choice as was putting Davis on the wing. I think Ally has already shown he should be booted out Ibrox. Has he even managed a paper round before?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

That team is well capable of beating hearts, blame the players

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everyone so quick to jump on edu he isnt the best player on tn the park but today for me he was pretty good. Ortiz was woeful he seems to have zero pace. Hearts however are just getting better and better with each season they may very well be in contention this year.

wellboy

Agree0 Disagree0

Er the players played well below par, McCoist saw it wasn't working and so changed to Naismith wide and moved Irtiz further up the pitch. It worked we were better the second half. If you are actually suggesting McCoist should be sacked all I can say is get a grip of yourself.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Papac was argubly man of the match playing at left back

What was the alternative ? You try and get the start right, it could, and should have been all over by half time. It is credit to the old heads that we got back into the game, BUT Davis is the cog in the centre of midfield, I don't see a place for Edu this season. Jelavic was starved of good service and that was because Ortiz looks like the new jerome Rothen We need to get Ness fit, play Wylde out left and KEEP Davis in the middle, also Whittaker had an absolute shocker against Hearts AGAIN.... we need to keep it going against Malmo and up the pace in games.STILL....4inarow

Agree0 Disagree0

What was the point buying player at 1.5 mill and leave on bench so he just signed he would have been fit and he new how the hearts players would play, ifyou or me got a new job would they let you just sit their and watch guys on the floor doing the job that you know how to do.

we need players in attack and defence because that display was very poor.

whaittaker was shocking and cost us the game with his awful marking.

23 Jul 2011 13:23:10
now mr w might take notice on how badly we need a centre half, , 1-0 down at half time , , BUT IF WE HAD BEEN PLAYING A GOOD TEAM IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FIVE, , OPEN THE PURSE NOW

Believable3 Unbelievable0

We need 6 new players in my mind
2 centre backs (goulin and cuellar would be good)
A ball winning midfielder(i cant think of anyone )
A creative attacking midfielder(eremenko or davidson)
A winger(veorhoek)
A striker ( goodwillie is ideal)

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2011 13:13:03
not a rumour just a fact, with McCulloch and Edu in the centre we must have the least mobile centre midfield partnership in the league, we desperately need a winger to get Davis into the middle, being run ragged by Hearts right now

Believable3 Unbelievable0

23 Jul 2011 11:56:38
What is it with this bull sht about we couldnt afford Miller, and we should forget Goodwillie and have bought him instead FORGET HIM HE HAS HAD HIS TIME AND IS 31

Now as for the new season, here we go unfortunately working so I will not see until I get home. For me Whitty will play CB who will play RB I dont know I predict a tough start and perhaps not pretty to watch however we will win 3-1.

WE ARE NOT GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE WITH DEFENDERS... JELAVIC IS UTTER GASH, DOES BUGGER ALL APART FROM SCORE A FEW, HES A CROATIAN BOYD

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Your gash, off you go back to the losers page

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster is clearly insane.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelavic is a quality player who relies on service to get him into a decent position. Not necessarily a goal scoring one - unlike Boyd. For example, his turn at the start of the game today made a chance out of nothing (admittedly poor finish) when did Boyd ever do that? Furthermore, on two or three occasions he was beating the back line yet was unlucky to be out of sync with the service. In a few weeks he will be back to a few goals a game. No danger.

Its not a rumour but i'd like to take this opportunity to wish the new looking Rangers team every success in the season 2011/12. Hopefully we will get the signing we need, win the treble and boost Scotland's co-efficient by getting through the group stages of the Champions League. Well done on a successful 3 previous seasons, long may it continue and the passion and pride of Glasgow Rangers continue to be the leading light in Scottish Football...if it weren't for you, we wouldn't be known in Europe

You only have to compare Rangers and Cardiff signings to see what we're up against.

Sir Craig Whyte?Getting a bit ahead of yerslf there mate, we have spent parctically HAW HAW, the Wallace deal is being paid up, starts on the bench today is hardly strenghtening the team, let's see what else they can pull out the hat but i'm no expectin that much

Agree0 Disagree0

In response to the eedgit's post above 1.5 injury prone, being a hero psh

For a start Whyte doesn't pick the players he goes for, McCoist does. Also McCoist will be completely up to speed with how much its going to take to get the player as he has to balance his budget So again the price will not have been Whyte that would have been sanctioned by McCoist.

Who would you have running the club? I'm looking for an answer, so who? C'mon come back to me with a contender to run the club I'm intrigued by your knowledge and wisdom......C'mon.
