I for one would love to see an experimental 4-4-2 being played, just for the sake of something new/ different, we have been sussed out and all the other teams just park the bus, let's try some new formations/ variation and surprise everyone else, its becoming frustrating as hell!

Personally I would rather see Miller play for part of the game, he usually has a goal in him but in his younger years he would have put away two or three of the chances that he is now missing.
The question for me is can Dodoo team up with Garner, or Waghorn and Garner. We are making the chances, just not taking them!

I think the 4.3.3 is fine to use i think our problem is the personell the gaffers using. as we've discussed numerous times on here we can't have the same mid 3 as the last 2 games. we could just abt get away with barton and rossiter but the 3rd player needs to be windass or holt or preferably both but can't see barton being sacraficed. i just hope picking the static midfield he's picked for those games doesn't come bak to haunt us because if he's not learned anything from those 2 games i will really start to wonder.

I would expect when fit the front 3 will be Waggy Garner McKay. Harry playing as one of the 3 midfielders.

I think once everyone's fit and another CB is signed the team will mostly pick itself. MW isn't stupid, he will have seen that what we've showed so far isn't good enough. His hands have been tied to an extent though due to injuries and lack of fitness in new signings.
Once he's got a full squad to pick from he will have plenty of options all over the park and hopefully he won't be forced to go with Barton/ Rossiter/ Halliday together again. Maybe to protect a lead, but for no other reason. They were simply not good enough. Either Holt, Kranjcar (when fit), Windass and even Forrester should always be in beside Rossiter and Barton.

Read on RFC website that Matt Crooks is to play in the under 20's game tonight, would be intresting to see how he gets on. take it there is no link or will rangers TV be covering same? i reckon he will play against linfield next week too in a bid to gain fitness with the Celtic game coming up.

Chances are he'll fill the Dom Ball role this year.
Don't know where we'll see him play in the long run though.
Not many options at cb, many options at hm. Imagine like everyone else he gets his chance at cb.

I have made the same point a few times about Crooks yet some people on here had a go at me for saying it. The guy hasn't played for 6 months and needs time and games to settle in. Only then can he be judged how good a signing he is.

Mr Nice, if he is anyway half decent and close to full fitness then, unless we sign a quality centre back in the next 8 days then I would happily see him replace either of Kiernan and Wilson for theCeltic game. He simply could not be ant worse!

Would rather see Wilson and a new signing get a run together for a few games, including the one against them.
No point chucking in a player who isn't fully fit and leave out a new signing who should be fit enough.
Everyone seems to think Senderos will sign but admit he isn't fit enough to play for a while.
Why sign a player who might not be able to play until late September?
Fans aren't asking for too much, just a fully fit centre back who is quite decent. That criteria should be able to be filled, surely. Two simple things that are required and neither is certain with Senderos.

He's not a specialist cb for a start.
Then there is his fitness, match sharpness, ability to handle pressure and the time it takes to build a relationship with his team mate's.

Sunderland have turned down the opportunity to take Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on loan, reports The Daily Mail.

The Sakho one would be highly impressive seeing as he is a current France international. But wasn't he getting done for drugs?

I know we have our midfield sorted but there one player I've been keeping an eye on and that's Brightons Anthony Knockaert he seems to be some player wouldn't mind rangers signing him maybe in the future if he keeps his form up.

got to say I've not seen a lot of senderos recent year but I can see he doesn't stay match fit for long and in Scotland the tackles fly in harder than anywhere else so we need sum1 bit better quality that isn't injury prone.

He's been out for a long time and only just back in training. Will need a few weeks of games and training I'd say before he's close to first team fitness n pace. Really looking fwd to seeing this lad play. I've heard great things.

MV3LO if this is who you'd like to play then as you say, your opinion to which you're well entitled. I would say however that unless Crooks and Senderos play together for us on Friday night then there is no way MW will play an untried pairing vs. Celiac. Personally can't see that happening as Crooks plays his first game for 5 months tonight for the under 20's and don't believe he'll be rushed back and Senderos might not even sign for us as another site is saying there is a German club interested in him. At the moment it looks like the ever dependable (not) Kiernan and Wilson will play and we'l l just have to hope that they play like they did the last time we played them (or even better) and that young Jordan has a great game sitting in front of them. From the evidence of Saturday I don't think the midfield three you've picked works and lacks pace- for me Halli day seems a bit lost at present so I'd pick wee Holt if he gets a game on Friday with Niko on as sub for him. I'd go with your front three and have either Bazza, Kenny, MOH or Do doo as our 2 impact subs depending on where the game's at. I'd love Windass to be a n"other option but don'think he'll be fit enough. Like you just my opinion and as MW regularly says "it's a game of opinions".

Like the response Liverpool Ger, the reason I went with that type of team is on an ideal situation, everyone fit healthy and know each others game that is a strong defence solid compact team that could get us through the first 45-60 mins and then we could mix it up and bring on our 3 subs and go into a more attacking formation.
you made some very good points, like the dialogue roll on the trip to the Piggory, canny wait to see this game, been to long missing from our game in Scotland, thank god it back, just hope we hold up because unfortunately I think that Selik are looking a decent outfit, better than when under Ronny and they will only improve with time and more transfer windows. So it going to be a very interesting season ahead, fingers crossed that we march on to 55!

I don't think crooks or senderos will play at cb but I think halliday should be bropped and holt played aswell as forrester they two bring energy to the game both close down high up the pitch to put teams under pressure. with the steadfast rossiter sitting behind them covering our defence.

I like Tav's buckanearing style but I think Hodson is far more solid and I think he's a better bet against The Thumb, Dembele or Sinclair. Horses 4 courses. We've got a great squad now we should use it.

Playing Barton rossiter and Halliday at same time is a bad idea imo they all sit bit deeper and non off them have that wee creative pass when we get at the 18 yard box.

he is a cdm who has been used in the cb capacity before and his versatility was one of the reasons he was named in the league 1 team of the year.
I do think he should be played in the cb position as we have rossiter who for me is a better player in that role and will only get better.
midfield for me is starting with rossiter, holt and forrester bringing on barton and niko 60 to 70 mins.

This crooks obsession is an embarrassment.
The guy hasn't kicked a ball for us yet. Nobody knows how he will handle himself playing for rangers- there is a world of difference playing for us compared to acrington.
Could spend hours listing players who have looked promising at smaller clubs but flopped after moving to bigger sides.
One example- stenstass was hailed as one of best left backs in Europe after staring for Rosenberg in champions league. Was absolutely dreadful for us and openly admitted he couldn't handle the pressure.

I understand you being embarrassed about people going on about Matt CroOKs, Mr nice but you can understand why can't you. The central defensive situation is a real worry-Rob and Danny haven't played well together for ages, Clint doesn't seem to be the answer, Senderos would seem to be a fairly underwhelming option and there doesn't seem to be any other option on the horizon although the lad Bates might turn out to be a star in the future. Anyway we need hope that someone can come into the team now or very soon and greatly improve what's obviously our weakest area . Just now that's looking like it might have to come from our own ranks. No most of us haven't seen him play and he might turn out to be a donkey or take months to settle (or never) but before he got injured he was playing well in England at a level similar to the SPL so that gives me hope that he will be a good player for us and might even surpass expectations and be great. With Kiernan and Wilson playing every game at the momentthat has me biting my nails so it'd be nice not to feel that way and until he proves otherwise Crooks gives me that hope and as they say hope is a wonderful thing?

Rossiter would be the first name on my team sheet. He is a quality player that we are very fortunate to have. Safari as our centre backs are concerned neither of the two incumbents are good enough and both are significantly better than Hill! Whether Crooks will play at Centre Back is questionable. If he is as good as people say he is then the logical role would surely be alongside Rossiter.
There might be an argument for going with one centre back in some games and crowding our midfield, problem I see, even if we did this, is that we don't have a quality centre back to play that role. Maybe there is an argument for switching Wallace to centre back now that we have a decent quality cover for full back.
