23 Aug 2011 23:46:35
the main thing we have to do is forget about the complaint to UEFA , they are just trying to play mind game's before we play them so it take's all the focus of the game and we will be at our panic stations .

Just forget about it and hope the team just focus on the job at hand and beat them .

let the cry about it afterwords.

i see both us and them going through on thursday .
as mutch as i hate to see it , it could help us in europe for the next few seasons.

Not a rumor but like to see McMillan and perry start on Thursday Sunday was the best we've played so far this season and I'll never know how clubfoot gets a game before McMillan

Evening fellow bears , been reading about wee Vladimir just there seems to be a even split by fans regarding his skills etc. I am one of the fans who like. All summer I've been posting about him regarding: what did he do last season come on as a sub 10 mins to go and won us the game. Killie at ibrox. Cup final at hampden etc. Any mate was talking about him at work and he come out with this.
Weiss had the most assists in Scotland last year. Don't know if it's true. Click believe if true etc. If it is not bad for guy who was always in the stand ?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Its true mate. Hope ally wasn't aware of this until today and has consequently changed his mind. The 6-0 thrashing of well last season, Weiss was KEY to the first two goals at least and possibly more, go check the highlights on the tube and see for your self

Ed, can you give me a source on this mk dons player and same with the rotherem is it just rumors or any truth write down what u no {Ed003's Note - I'm guessing you mean Baldock and Adam Le Fondre?? there is no truth as far as I'm aware}

My wife is leaving me for salim kerkar. Good luck

Salim kerkar once completed a game of connect 4 in 3 moves.

people who are saying wiess was the best player last season must be f***ing mental was he f*** he was very avrege he did play a couple of games that were good but that's it how many games did he have 10 at the most a think the credit should be going to jelavic and even though he isn't here anymore miller top scorer in and only played half a season

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Totally agree, flattered to deceive most games, nothing more than a badge kisser playing up to the fans.

Would it be the end of the world if we got put out a second rate European competition. I'm blue through and through but to be honest if it ain't the money spinning champions league I would rather concentrate on sticking it to the mhanky mob and doing 4 in a row. I know the big nights are good but for the sake of respite and injuries could be better for the team.

Oranjeboom

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Mate that the main priority the league don't get me wrong a would like to see us doing well in europe but i will take 4 in a row anyday before Europe

Agree0 Disagree0

Now now dont be silly ffs your cutting off your nose to spite your face. if rangers need to qualify as do celtic. if we follow your masterplan we will end up playing 3 qualifyers to get in to the champions leauge giving the club no pre season at all. both clubs need to sort out the co efficient and put our game back on the map its the only way to get investment in our game. if we were ranked the same as san marino and leichtenstein do you think that would make us look attractive to sponsors or investors?. look forward to your responce.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you here me say that i didnt say i didnt want us to do well in Europe i said winning the league is the main priority so get your facts right maby if you read again you will understand

Agree0 Disagree0

If you want to get factual about it smart arse....would it be the end of the world? Eh no Because that's ridiculous isn't it. Would it matter? Most definitely because of the reasons above, ya tube

GDog

Agree0 Disagree0

Gdog you are a trumpet. Let's get factual, end of the world and all that. Nobody was asking you for a factual statement. All we were looking for was your opinion on the thread. The only factual statement is that you like to jump into a conversation and ride on the back of someone else. Get your own opinion and facts.

Is that the same Thomas Buffel that played for Rangers playing and scoring for Genk tonight? He must be older than Davie Weir

Believable2 Unbelievable0

He is 30

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep same one, hes only 30

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes only 30. He was a good player for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Buffel is only 30

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes it is an he is only 30 year old

T-Bear

Agree0 Disagree0

Typical Tam Buffel leaves gers, stops
Having injury problems and re-establishes his international career. He never lived up to potential with us but compared to current players I'd take him back tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thomas Buffel was fit and available for selection up until the end of the 07-08 season, but Rangers refused to play him as one more appearance meant they would have owed Feyenoord another £500,000. That's how miserable Sir David Murray was at that point. A player of Buffel's ability would have strengthened our European run that season even further and may have made a difference in the SPL too. Shame really, was a great talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buffel was top class

team for sunday lads ?

Shagger
mcmillan goian bocenegra wallace

ortiz davis naismith wylde

jelavic lafferty

Believable4 Unbelievable1

What about thursday or u just forgeting that game ??

Agree0 Disagree0

Game for sunday my only change perry not mcmillan

Agree0 Disagree0

But Perry's a centre back. Oh dear me.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 20:36:39
naismith looks like answer to that midfield problem we have, very hard working, very creative and lets davis do his job instead of getting cought up in square passes we edu or mccouluch, anybody els agrea?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Agrea man some clever people on here il tell u that we have agrea cought and mccouluch. brilliant il tell u that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see any reason as not to play with Naismith, Davis and Ortiz in centre mid with Lafferty, Jelavic, upfront and wylde supporting. This Defensive midfielder thing really grates on me when playing in the SPL, DM's aren't needed and Sunday proved that against an Improved Motherwell side, who looked better than Maribor, so why not just stick to the team that got your last good result

Vladimir Weiss it seems divides the Rangers fans, some rating him and others not.

Those who don't rate him obviously lack footballing knowledge.

They would obviously rather go and watch players like David Weir and Lee McCulloch who offer nothing in a creative sense, than watch Weiss who, although lost possesion at times and sometimes lacked a final ball , gave us far more pace, creativity and flair than any player has at Ibrox in the last 2 or 3 seasons.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Spot on mate,a proper flair player, who will only get better and better,a sad loss for the bears, hope he has a great season, will miss him, rangers got under his skin, and he loved it at the brox.

Agree0 Disagree0

How the hell can you compare Weiss we Weir, one plays on the wing and the others a bloody defender, wise up

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but when do you expect a centre half (Davie Weir) to be creative??

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye mate lack of football knowledge.

Weiss 4 million

Jelavic 4 million

Who would you rather have if it was your cash on the table.

Oranjeboom

Agree0 Disagree0

4million for a guy who will sit on the bench....no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate coz people dont agree with ur opinion on weiss doesnt mean u no more about fitba an if u think that ur a complete nugget is it not past ur bedtime ??

no bad player not worth 4 million in a million years did do enough just coz he came an watched games as a fan doesnt make him a good player yer an idiot

T-Bear

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok he has bit of pace but first touch is terrible, give the ball away more times than not

Agree0 Disagree0

God awful first touch, s**te final ball and ran into trouble 6 or 7 times out of 10. Now and again he got a good ball in or scored but otherwise far too greedy and tried to do too much. Never worth 4m If Walter couldn't get him to play it simple instead of being greedy from time to time then what chance would Ally have? He came to Ibrox as a fan and all of a sudden he's our best player. Wise up Paddy McCourt is exactly the same and he can't even get a game for the runners up

Agree0 Disagree0

What most people miss about Weiss is that other teams put two men on him and so he created space for his teammates. He is 100 times the player Greg Wylde will ever be.

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree0

Weiss was too inconsistent. Too soft, he kissed th badge a couple of times, so what.

Agree0 Disagree0

Picking players for a team is like doing a jig saw puzzle you might find two bits that fit in the same place but the picture is different depends what the boss thinks he needs

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 19:45:59
hey lads lets not get carried away that was the first good game we have had this season i stiil dont trust ally and hope he leaves before its to late

first time poster and seeing as how this is a rumour site, just thought i'd share this with my fellow gers.

Friend down south mentioned rangers are in pole position to land sturridge from chelsea on loan.

apparently villas boas likes him but doesn't see him in his teams plans this year.

just a rumour though i hope its true

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Would be amazing if we could get him and he doesn't seem to be in their plans at the moment but I can't see it happening. He'll end up back at Bolton

Agree0 Disagree0

Think there would be a possibility of getting him if we get through on thursday, otherwise avb would want to keep him in the epl for more competitive games.

Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot see this happening I wish it was true but this dude stuuridge Is a bit of a player maybe if we were still in champions league.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 18:22:08
In regards to wiess..we quite simply cannot afford him..£4m is a lot of money and lets face it Whyte was penny pinchin about every other player and was never going to pay that..he was impressive last season but still not that impressive the only reason hes worth £4m is cus its an EPL team thats selling him. Plus i personally think the papers have been sh*t stirring it

Believable2 Unbelievable0

The one good thing to come out of the Wiess loan signing is that premiership clubs will be willing to let inexperienced players come north to sunny Glasgow....its certainly a cost saving method of getting quality young players into our blue jersey-if only we could give our homegrown lads the same oppourtunity-give youth a chance Ally, break the Walter mould

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is growing increasingly frustrated with the actions of Jose Mourihno and is not seen to be acting in accordance with the 'Royal' way. He has written a plan B shortlist of managers and according to the Spanish press Sir Walter of Ibrox is in and amongst the names. Smith would jump at the chance to manage at the Bernabeau as he has never lead a team to the Capitol city in his vast and experienced managerial career. OLA WALTER

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Would absolutely love sir smith to get that job. However I will believe it when the blue pigs streak across the sky

Craig Gordon claims he'll be Scotland no.1 again when fit. Is he for real? Gordon has been left behind of McGregor probably since the season we went to the UEFA cup final, While McGregor was pulling off saves like the one against Werder Bremen in Germany, Gordon was struggling with form at Sunderland, While McGregor was saving Big Sammys pen at Ibrox to keep us in the title race, Gordon was nursing another injury. Just because you've been linked with a move to Scotlands best runners up don't get carried away Gordon. You'll never be mentioned in the same breath as scotland best keepers. "the goalie" and "shagger". WATP.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Shagger not done enough yet to be mentioned in same breath as goram or leighton or rough

Brett Pitman-Bristol City, Charlie Austin-Burnley, Luciano Becchio-Leeds, Jamie Murphy-Motherwell, Sam Baldock-MK Dons, Jozy Altidore-AZ Alkmaar. 6 strikers that would be realistic targets for us and all for under 2million. Championship sides seem to raid the lower leagues of England for players so why shouldn't we? I reckon either of the 6 strikers mentioned would do us a turn. Thoughts? This isn't a rumour and i have not said anything about us definatly signing any of these players it's just an opinion.

Altidore wo do a job possibly and with him being american it would fit right in with our recent acquisitions.

Agree or disagree, edu and broadfoot should get nowhere near 1st 11.

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Edua decent squad player, look at his form away from home different players, fans not on his back... N would have broadfoot ahead of whits at rb

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree mate but neither should mcculloch

Edu needs his confidence back - just a squad player though - Broadfoot is sh*t - might not even get a game for st mirren

Here's the thing... forget 2 and 3 mill plus players We wont win a Europa cup so we need to concentrate on the SPL... We have a great spine to the squad, all signed up on long term deals. We just need a sharp midfield thinker (Eremenko?) and if we can find one, a super fast wing man to back up Wylde, who we MUST keep, and it's 4 in the bag. We just need to win the league to get the CL cash, any further in Europe is a bonus...

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I disagree with Eremenko completely. He is a very moody player and very temperamental.

I am happy with the likes of Davis, McCulloch, Ness, Hutton, McKay, Bedoya, Naismth, Wylde, Ortiz all being able to play in midfield. (Notice how I didnt mention Edu there :-P)

We need another striker to help Jelavic, Lafferty and Naismith up front. If we get that striker in then I am happy with our squad until January.

Bringing in a left winger to give Wylde competition, whilst sounds like a good idea may back fire and we would never see Wylde playing again this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Edu is better than McCulloch

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 13:47:47
everybody raving about wylde on sunday to be honest i thought he was poor 1 or 2 good runs and good goal but the amount of times he lost the ball was unbelievable maybe lack of games but not a great performance like everyone is saying he was average the boy mcmillan was the stand out for me

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Agree , perry, and mcmillan, strolled it for me, but consistency the key

Agree0 Disagree0

It just shows you how much of a good player Wylde is. He scored a great goal and didn't play well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any player can score a great goal i agree he has great pace but final ball is terrible, and watch how many times he actually manages to go past his man hope he comes good though. as for perry and mcmillan defo agree strolled it just feel mcmillan is looking good consistant aswell even though only played 2 games lol but 1 against chelsea not an easy task and thought he coped brilliant

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2011 13:28:23
As we need a striker as im sure you will all agree. Why doid we not
sign adzm rooney from ICT? He was free and would have scored plenty for us. Would have saves us a fortune as well. Low wages and no transfer fee.

Also how much money have we really spent this season? Not taking in to account deals for greegs, whittaker etc which in my opinion would be a running cost anyway.

I think we have spent approx 3 million on bocanegra, ortiz, wallace, bedoya and mckay. We have allso taken in approx 3 million from the charlie adam fee and selling bougherra. So in reality we have spent nothing. When are we going to splash the cash on some decent signings? All these bids of 3mil 2mil etc were never going to happen.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Wow how quick of you to work this out well done

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam rooney signed for birmingham n scored n his las 2 matches

Agree0 Disagree0

If I remember right then Rooney wanted to move back down south. That's the only reason he left ICT, although I'm sure the money on offer down there might of helped.

Afternoon Bears, just wondering what you think of the stats saying Weiss had most assists in spl last season. Did anyone take notice of how much free headers Jela had from Wylde assists on sunday? Can't be bothered finding out about Weiss assists but think surely if Wylde had a run of games he would improve his final ball and overall play. When a lot of fans were slagging him off last week surely they should look at sundays game, 4 or 5 assists, 1 shot on goal and a great goal, give the lad a break and hope he does stay and improve his overall game.

EdBear

Believable2 Unbelievable0

How can he have 4 or 5 assists? assists are when a goal is scored look at his overall play unless the lines free with no players infront of him 9 times out of 10 he lost the ball

Rangers team for maribor...what do you's think?

mcgregor

broadfoot bocanegra goian wallace

naismith/ortiz davis ness wylde

jelavic lafferty

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good team if Ness is fit which i doubt - more than likely to Edu in there instead.

Ness is very injury prone, worrying as he is very good and looked superb against Inverness

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly don't understand how when some folk put a team on here they either leave out Naismith or have Naismith/someone else Naismith, McGregor, Davis & Jelavic should be the first names on the team sheet

Agree0 Disagree0

McMillan has to be at RB. He deserves a shot now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naismith is suspended

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Ally will go back to a 3-5-2 for this game. With Whittaker out it will work well.

McGregor

Perry Goian Bocanegra

Ortiz Davis Edu Wallace

Naismith

Lafferty Jelavic

Ortiz has experience at full back and Wallace is not shy at coming forward so I can see this working. I know Wylde played well at the weekend but I would prefer him to come off the bench with 20 mins to go.

Vladimir weiss in the sun today raging
At Ally's cause he snubbed him. I feel sorry for the little guy he would have been a legend at ibrox. Good luck son.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

If this post is indeed true and I couldn't tell you if it is as I'm still reading page 3 of the Sun....... then he can rage all he wants.

He's a good player and I've no doubt his value will rise in the the coming years, but I still don't think he done that much when he was here last year. I thought Wylde was more exciting last year and we won't even give him £3000 p/w never mind paying £4mil plus wages. Would rather put what money we do have into a striker to help Jelavic and Lafferty. Please don't reply with we've got Heally and Hemmings. Heally looks like a builder and is way past it, at best an 80min sub to snatch a goal. Hemmings is too raw this year to really push for a starting place. Midfield looks quite strong if we can keep everyone and so does the defence with the emergence of the youngsters. WATP

Another terribel thing about it is that Football Manager 2011 seems to think he's the strongest striker in the squad (over kenny miller, jela and laff) and he moans when he's not played. Sold him to stoke for 28k thankfully. M

who does weiss think he is slagging mccoist in the papers today ..maybe if he done the business over a whole season ally might have wanted him but the plain fact is he never . just because he sang a few rangers songs doesnt give him the divine right to be given a deal ......bigt

Long story short. A lad that used to work for me now works for Raymond Sparkes company. He tells me Rangers are very VERY busy rite now and although none of the players are on his books, word is that 3 or 4 new players are imminent Oh, and this made me chuckle, Kneel Lemming has slapped a bid in for Accrington Stanley keeper Sean Murdoch... world class or what

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Ment to have just made a bid of £150,000 wont be too worried with lemmings cuddleathon with Forster wont matter if the guy is any good or not lol 4IAR

Maribor Captain having a pop at Scottish football and saying they will knock Rangers out of Europe................. I blame all the other scottish sides for this trumpets attitude. He knows we battered them and then let them off the hook, BUT after several years of pure p@sh from the scum, Hibees, Hearts, Dun - D ( YOU ) nited and the sheep in trying to qualify for Euro competitions, is it any wonder that these pissy teams disregard Scottish football. The Jambo's AND the Dhims will both crash out this week, and we will be left out in the frontline on our own for another year............... it's up to the RANGERS again, but still THEY want to crucify us ( and we all know who I mean ) Rangers 'til I die Onward and upwards Bears, it's great to be a Bear :)

I think hearts can turn it around at whitehart lane anyone agree?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate don't kid yourself on, we've won 1 game in our last 23 in Europe, that includes ELEVEN home games. That's an absolutely pathetic record. If you think we've been performing well in Europe, think again, we've been shocking but lucky at times.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully no one questions my support here but i want seltic to go through. Don't get me wrong, i HATE them but we really need to sort out our coefficient. As long as they don't do too well i'm happy enough with them being there with us. M

Agree0 Disagree0

I did not say WE have been performing well in Europe, I said we have been the only Scottish side IN Erurope for the last few years. The stats would tell you that. Who has fought the european front alongside us in the past few seasons ? WHO ? When was the last time another Scottish side played in the Champions league,or the Europa league ? That is the point I was making, not how well we were statistcally performing, good try though sunshine............... NEXT Rangers 'til I die

To be honest and I know people are going to come back at me with all the usual player for the future and loves the club guff. But was Weiss actually that good. Played well on his debut against hibs, ok he set up big Jelavic for his goal in the cup final but I think he was posted missing in most of the big games. He was trying to take the piss out of celtic players at 0-0 until someone shouted to pt the ball in the net first and then we got thumped 2-0. I think wylde and perish do just as good if not a better job at a fraction of the price.

I didnt think he was that good either, he has potential but wasnt as direct as i had been hoping for. Paying 3 million for a sub is possibly not the most resourcefull way of spending what cash we do have.

I thought then, as i do now, that the lad was too good for the SPL. Fair enough he didn't play as much as he could/should have, but that's because walter would rather play his own players than loan players which is understandable. He'd be starting 30 games a season if he was our player. The games he played, he made himself the center of our attacking play, i can not understand how people think he's over rated or did little for us. Quite disappointing we couldn't get him, but i think Man City were asking a lot for him and that will be why we couldn't bring him home.

Weiss desperate to come back but peed off at Ally for not bidding for him so looks like he'll sign for Kiev within 48hrs UNLESS we make a bid. Dissapointed as he really wants back at Ibrox. Source Sun interview tomorrow. Maybe this means that Mr Whyte has no cash, or doesnt trust Ally Mc to let him spend £3mil on a player who will only go up in value?

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Weiss said Ally didn't want him. No
Conspiracy theories no whyte skint maybe Ally didn't think he was worth the money which based on his up and down season last year I tend to agree.

Weiss is totally gutted at not coming back to the champs and solely blames McCoist for not going in for him. I too blame him, I'd take him over Ortiz any day of the week. And being his love for the club i reckon he would have taken a wage cut.... Poor show Coisty.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Don't b daft, don't think he's worth 4 million and his wages would b too high, ure having a laugh if you think he would take a wage cut just because he sang a couple of Gers songs, he's a good player but not that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you compare the Ortiz transfer with a 3 or 4 million pound transfer Weiss was ok but not worth that amount for you to say poor show ally is beyond me would you have him spend his budget on 1 player get a grip if he had a few bad wks u would be on ere saying ally was naive or useless for buying the boy for that amount

Sky sports is saying Adam Le Fondre reiterates quit desire to play at a higher level. He has been linked to us on this page a few times but sky say a plethora of Championship and League One sides and dont mention us. His Stats for the past 3 years are around a goal in every 2 games but other than that dont know much about him but for under half million could be good for spl . Does anyone know more on him or if Rangers are looking at him because to me he ticks the right boxes on paper, young enough that if he does well can be sold for a good price, within the current wage structure, can score goals. but how is his attitude? does he have pace ? what is his work rate like? And please if you do comment dont just put not Rangers Class or not Chance say why.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Watched him a few times and other people agree that he is nearly a remould of boydy, quite lazy with a piss poor attitude great talent though and suppose we could kick the attitude out of him
