Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

22 Oct 2019 22:28:45
Folks, the one big difference for me on Sunday was that we were playing at walking pace for long periods. I also watched the highlights of the other games, and Celtic in particular were playing at a fast pace, and dare I say it shooting from distance. We really need to wake up our ideas before it's too late, the performance against Feyenoord is what I want to see.

23 Oct 2019 13:22:11
I’ve mentioned this before that we don’t have anyone willing to have a shot from distance.
Watch SG a few times in his career shoot from long range. Surely he’d encourage our team to do the same?

23 Oct 2019 13:37:56
Have to agree Bathgate Bear, There’s nothing more frustrating when watching a game, And in my case shouting at the TV for someone to have a Shot at goal, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺👍. Anyway Brox Rool 😂.

23 Oct 2019 14:14:55
Irvger, as I said wasn't there due to business but listened on radio and thought pace was derisory. Feel this is playing into their hands. With players we have at disposal we must quicken pace.

23 Oct 2019 15:20:10
I was there and the pace was so slow because when the player on the ball looked up he had no options or runners. Kamara and Davis are good at starting moves but neither will be the man to get ahead. Aribo offered no real outlet, arfield looks tired. Barasic got forward well in the first half at least, not really the second. Less said about ojos performance the better.

24 Oct 2019 05:55:32
Agree with you snell. I was also present at tynecastle last sunday and i think we all thought the same way. I think we all look to scott arfield, as the one who'll make the clever runs beyond the striker, but at the moment he's also off his usual game, although he's a very good player. I think arfield is suffering from fatigue, as he's played with canada through the close season there and probably needs to recharge the batteries.

22 Oct 2019 21:35:06
I agree that, some people take it to far sometimes, but that's what anger does. I want Tav to stay, but just use his head. I was at the Rangers tour recently, and it was amazing. Seeing and hearing about all the great players and managers we have had at our amazing club, none more so than the great Bill Struth. He demanded 100% on and off the park. The way it should be at Rangers. Tav has it in his locker, i know he can do better, to help us lift that 55th title and get his name on the wall of fame. He has been a good player for us for years, has to do more to be a legend but. Its not just him, a couple of the playera need to give themselves a shake. A know we will get there but.

23 Oct 2019 22:34:37
tavs inconsistent use of his head is his one consistency. no captain.

24 Oct 2019 06:00:38
Do you know something fellow bears.
Regarding this no captain that constantly gets labelled at james tavernier, I remember back before our club's troubles and there were rangers supporters saying the same thing about steven davis, ie. not captain material, too quiet, can't motivate the players around him. that's what was said in some quarters and was of course totally rubbish talk. Every captain has there own ways. You won't have every single captain out there, bawling and shouting all the time.

22 Oct 2019 20:34:35
Another thing, just because people have a go at someone, doesn't make them morons or knuckle draggers. He has to improve, he is the Rangers captain. We all spend a lot of money on season tickets, tops and merchandise, we deserve to say what we want. The only reason people get annoyed is because we care about Rangers, its called being passionate.

22 Oct 2019 21:13:44
Some of the things that so called fans are saying about james tavernier does make them knuckledraggers. The guy is on a poor run of form mate, he's not murdered anyone! Way over the top on their scathing attack on tav.

23 Oct 2019 08:22:12
What are people saying that makes them knuckledraggers? I've not saw any personal abuse just a lot of posts that he's been really poor so far?

23 Oct 2019 16:37:24
Think some folk were tagging him on tweets saying he is sh*te etc.

Rubbish behaviour but expected on social media. Brings out the worst in people and imagine most footballers take similar after a bad performance, especially if they decide to be active on Twitter and the like.

24 Oct 2019 03:12:58
The manager is the one to blame here. When a player consistently turns in poor performances, fans will inevitably turn on them. An experienced manager would take the player out of the line of fire for a few games, let the fans calm down and let the player rebuild his confidence.

22 Oct 2019 20:28:24
Totally disagree, how can u be a defender when u can't defend, he spends most of his time on the wing in a forward position. He can still play the way he does, just more forward, without the awful defending. This is a fan site, for fans to vent there fury to fellow fans. I love all the players in the team, but if they are not playing well for long periods of time, its fair to have a go, it called constructive criticism.

23 Oct 2019 22:02:29
On a bad run of form since he arrived at club then. Has never been able to defend. Lost us some crazy goals.

23 Oct 2019 22:34:42
constructive? destructive more like, i was one who was pissed off at Tav for sure. however the best way to raise someones performance ain't by booing and slagging off. people start to hide when that happens in the fear of being booed again. criticism by its nature isn't constructive.

22 Oct 2019 20:03:10
Superb news as ryan jack signs a contract extension until 2023!A future rangers captain imo.

22 Oct 2019 22:10:21
Great news coop👍.

23 Oct 2019 08:17:27
Great news about Ryan Jack. He was badly missed on Sunday.

23 Oct 2019 13:13:47
Nice words from Dan Candeias about us. Its a true saying once a Ranger alwYs a Ranger.

24 Oct 2019 03:13:30
Ryan Jack should already be the captain.

22 Oct 2019 18:35:39
Is Jack fit and available for Porto?

22 Oct 2019 18:23:04
I see Tav has been receiving online abuse. I hope the we all agree on here this is totally unacceptable and hope he receives a warm welcome at the next game.

22 Oct 2019 18:41:45
TJBB, they idiots that are giving tav online abuse are knuckledraggers mate pure and simple. Everyone is definitely entitled to their opinions, but some of the excessive abuse the rangers captain is receiving is way over the top. Tav is suffering a loss of form, he hasn't beheaded someone. Get a grip ya Morons. We don't need your sort!

22 Oct 2019 20:41:57
Ridiculous state of affairs. These idiots need to get a grip.

22 Oct 2019 20:48:57
Didn't recall anybody defending Josh windass so loudly when he was getting dogs abuse every week no matter how many goals he scored. Our players get plenty of plaudits when it's going well so they're going to get criticised when they sell the jerseys every 2nd gsme.

22 Oct 2019 21:15:31
Yes but there's a way to criticise mate. Not the rangers way the way these idiots are carrying on.

22 Oct 2019 22:00:10
Criticism and abuse are very different. I hope your not condoning abuse. Quite a worrying statement if you are.

23 Oct 2019 08:24:31
Not condoning it at all. Like I asked above what personal abuse has he been getting,?, all I've saw is fans with the opinion he needs dropped as he's playing poorly,?

23 Oct 2019 13:44:28
Herewego55 I’ve never seen any personal abuse either, Only criticism for him playing BAD but he ain’t the only one Airfield has not been playing to well, Just hope they get there game together tomorrow, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺👍.

23 Oct 2019 16:49:55
It's one rule for tav it seems. I remember rob kiernan windass and others taking much worse most weeks and not a word said. Morelos got it all last season has nobody to criticise tav when he keeps making the same mistakes over and over. As long as no one takes it too far what do people expect, praise?

23 Oct 2019 22:44:25
It’s this simple if you take the plaudits you need to take the criticism where ever it may be from.
SGL as a poster said above didn’t see anyone coming out to defend windass and they are a few other players as well.

Just because he is rangers captain doesn’t mean we and anyone can’t criticise.
He has been murder at defending for years and always will be and he is not rangers captain material that is my opinion.
A defenders 1st job is too defend and he can’t do the basics and has cost us points on numerous occasions.
And lastly I will say he is usually great going forward.

22 Oct 2019 17:00:12
I agree with Steven Gerrard loyal. Tav is the best right back scotland, but still has to improve the defensive side of his game. If u are getting played week in week out, without having the fear of losing your place, u get complacent. I still think he would make a better winger.

22 Oct 2019 17:51:50
He wouldn't make a better einger its s different skillset going on the overlap as a full back, he doesn't have the skill to be beating fullbscks regularly as a einger. he's just needed took out the team for a few games to send thr message that no one is bigger than the team, as just now it looks like no matter hoe badly he or ojo play, they won't be dropped.

22 Oct 2019 18:15:16
I tend to agree with Herewego55 on his post here. I think tav is an attacking right back and the best in scotland at that and not a winger. If you look at other right backs who are much better at attacking than defending, they always have a centre half on the same side or even a winger on the same side, who can cover the right back, who in this case is tav, when he's bombing forward. that's why tav and candeias had a very good understanding partnership together. I also agree that gerrard should maybe look at taking tav out the firing line, for a couple of games, just to keep him focused that his place in the team ISN'T guaranteed! Still imo tav offers much more ability to our team, than he doesn't, when he's on the money. Simple as that for me fellow bears.

22 Oct 2019 20:48:32
I'm not Tav's biggest fan. I think he gets caught ball watching and the number of times he hits the first defender annoys out of me. On the other hand stats don't lie and I agree with Coops when he says Tav brings more good than bad to the table. When he is good he is very good, it's just sometimes he is posted missing and he needs to eradicate this from his game. Btw he will never be a winger or even an attacking midfielder. He is no Fernando Ricksen.

23 Oct 2019 16:56:37
"Tav is the best right back scotland".
How can anyone make a statement like that when there are fans who don't even think he is the best right back at Ranger? And I'm not just talking about after Sunday. Tav is liability in defense.

22 Oct 2019 15:42:11
Seems to me that when we play poorly there is a rush to put up negative comments on here but far less so when we play we'll.

Is this a Scots trait, a west of scotland big man trait or just a Rangers thing?

The blame game is very evident but not balanced by comments praising our team.

22 Oct 2019 17:40:32
Plenty comments praising the team when we win. You are just blinkered to them because your favourite pastime is bashing other fans.

22 Oct 2019 17:53:50
Exactly Snell, the Oracle that is dk19 seez nothing wrong ever, unless its somebody else having an opinion. 100%, the most unbalanced poster on the whole site.

22 Oct 2019 21:40:58
Oh I see plenty of room for improvement in our team but I don’t believe that the way to motivate anyone (children, employees, teammates or anyone else) is to constantly tell them how rubbish they are.

I’m pretty satisfied with our position at the moment and believe that we will continue to improve and will win the league this season.

22 Oct 2019 22:14:59
Dk tough love never done anyone any harm. Take warbs and pedro's failures of players, you could put your arm around them and whisper sweet love in their ear until the end of time and it wouldn't make them any better. 👍.

23 Oct 2019 08:29:25
Thsts what's wrong with the world now dk19, everybody mollycoddled. We all grew up in a time we did wrong we faced the consequences, never done us any hsrm. Why most of the young ones nowadays are wee twats.

23 Oct 2019 11:08:23
Coldo, tough love went out of fashion and relevance years ago.

It worked for Fergie and Jock Wallace but the world has changed for the better.

Pep and Klopp will do a bit of shouting but mostly they build a group that believe in themselves. The help players who are going through a poor patch by coaching and motivating not by telling the how sh*te they are.

23 Oct 2019 14:26:59
Exactly why we have snowflakes nowadays and not men who are willing to accept responsibility Dk👍.

23 Oct 2019 16:52:44
Exactly coldo. And kids who run about causing havoc as they have no fear of discipline like the clip round the ear we prob all used to get.

23 Oct 2019 22:37:48
Coldo, draconian management died years ago mate, you set improvement targets and if they fail they are managed out. ok so players are different as it ain't as easy to sack them but bawling and shouting doesn't work. what i do agree with though is that you should pick your strongest team, irrespective of being captain or not. if you aren't performing then you shouldn't be selected for the side, after all that's why SG insisted on 2 players for each position. the problem is not sure any of his replacements are any better than Tav off form.

24 Oct 2019 07:49:44
My problem with the whole situation is that even from last year, when explaining not playing katic he's spoke about niko having a wee dip or making small errors. Straight out the team even though it wasn't major errors leading directly to goal. Think that's 4 absolute howlers across 3 games from tav. The rules have got to be the same.

22 Oct 2019 12:44:43
Despite tav's loss of form, i still rate him easily the best right back in scottish football. An old saying in football, form is temporary, class is permanent. In my eyes anyway tavernier is a very good attacking full back, who would undoubtedly be missed,
if he left rangers. Only then would some realise what we'd be missing, especially in an attacking sense, with usually great deliveries into the box and his goalscoring threat with of course plenty of assists. ED,
could you please run a james tavernier poll for me to gauge the overall feeling regarding tav, who i believe is becoming the whipping boy, by a small section of our supporters.
The poll being, despite tav's current run of bad form, do you want him sold for any half decent bid, or do you want to keep him,
unless its a very big money bid from any other club? Cheers ED, as per usual much appreciated mate.

{Ed033's Note -

Keep or sell Tav poll

22 Oct 2019 13:43:07
There is 2 right backs at park head that can defend, therefore are better than tav.

22 Oct 2019 14:20:02
No danger mate and i'm being totally serious, without looking through blue glasses. Tav easily the best right back when he plays to form. No doubt about it!

22 Oct 2019 15:11:15
That does not make him good enough for the rangers SGL.

22 Oct 2019 15:17:58
Totally agree SGL, I know he hasn’t cost us recently I think the amount he sets up and scores outweigh his flaws. And up until just recently, his defending had improved. Like most people I think a couple of games on the bench might do him good in the long run.

22 Oct 2019 15:18:55
No he's not coop. He can't cross, he can't defend. He gets the occasional assist and hits the pens. He is continually caught out of position. Hits goals from the spot paper the cracks. He's not a leader either👍.

22 Oct 2019 15:25:23
I like Tav but he has been having a stinker. I hate the modern attacking full back. They can be caught out of position by decent teams and punished. Come back the good old days of defenders, defending. Back 4 should be excellent defenders first and foremost. Anything after that is a bonus!

22 Oct 2019 16:29:21
I'm a Tav. fan but he has been poor this season so far sadly. Coldo If you class the 20 + assists Tav. had last year as the ODD assist far more than anyone else in the SPL and about the same as Celtics top 2 added together good on ya.

22 Oct 2019 16:43:52
Scoring wins games, we was very very poor going forward. Not enough from the midfield. Alfie was all alone and frustrated and the only player willing to take players on was Tav. He cost us a goal sure but you don't win games if you don't outscore your opponents.

22 Oct 2019 17:47:27
20 assists last year means nothing this year👍.

22 Oct 2019 18:23:20
Your correct coldo that we must focus on this year and not looking back, but my point is mate, that tav will without question get back to that form with his assists etc and what very good traits he brings to the team. It proves its in him coldo and as i've said on here before, form is temporary, class is permanent pal! Tav will regain his form, don't worry about that! let's ALL get behind him and the team in general.

22 Oct 2019 22:19:26
He was great a times last year coop but more often this year he has been poor. I expect better from a rangers captain mate👍.

24 Oct 2019 03:17:47
Folk talking about his assists last year - he hit more or less every corner and free kick. That bumps anyone’s assists up.

22 Oct 2019 11:58:15
Tavernier was at fault with the goal but we only conceded one. We need to score more than one in return and that's a bigger problem or apportion of blame. I think there were 5 players back from international duty jetting in from all over the world. We have good replacements for most who were training and rested. Defoe just off a hat trick. Some players need a bit of game time off, Tavernier and Goldson 2 examples and we have great cover for both.

22 Oct 2019 07:18:48
Going to stick up for tav a bit. Since the candyman left there is no flow up that side and candias really helped Tav. In my opinion candias as good as ojo if not more consistent. I would also love to see the stats win rates when kamara starts. Hearts, young boys, celtic all spring to mind. He is not Rangers class i'm afraid.

22 Oct 2019 10:39:40
I don’t actually think Tav is a bad player, he’s just not as good as people thought, people on here tend to get carried away when a player plays 2 or 3 games above expectation. I think he’s missed candeias work rate and therefore is he has been found out in the bigger games.

My only point though, we needed better from our wing positions than candeias offered and perhaps if we’re player more of an attacking minded winger we should balance the team with a more defensive minded full back.

22 Oct 2019 11:25:14
Agreed Katic.

22 Oct 2019 12:39:42
agree SRK, although I have alway believed it was a mistake to appoint Tav club captain. Not only does he lack natural leadership qualities, IMO the added responsibility negatively impacts his performance.

22 Oct 2019 14:33:28
Said in the summer we would regret letting candies go he was a great foil for tav. It's not working down our right just now.

22 Oct 2019 15:11:55
No regrets re candy going whatsoever.

22 Oct 2019 16:05:10
We can’t field an average right winger to help protect an average right back.

22 Oct 2019 17:57:08
He wasnt the greatest john I'm not saying that but they had a good understanding down that side. Do u honestly think we've been better down that side without him? I don't mate tavs been s shadow of himself without him 👍.

22 Oct 2019 17:59:44
Well said Bankie. To win the league both positions needed improved.

22 Oct 2019 18:31:09
SRK, are you telling me last season,
when tav was playing to his true form, that he was only terrific in 2 or 3 games? Because if you are and you have said as much in your post,
you need to go and watch most of last season's games and how many tavernier's very good performances influenced! I don't like looking back, but what i'm getting at is tav will i have no doubt, get back to that and that's my totally unbiased opinion my friend.

23 Oct 2019 15:39:22
SGL once again u choose to ignore the goals tav sold last year pittodrie, parkhead to name but two.

Review Of The Day 22nd October 2019

22 Oct 2019 07:39:02
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 22nd October 2019

22 Oct 2019 00:19:15
Just saying players can change positions. All the times Tav gets most stick, is for his defending, but gets good reviews for his attacking play and goalscoring. don't want him to leave, just dropped for a game or 2, would keep him on his toes. He has to up his game, and learn from his mistakes. His attempt to clear the ball in the hearts game, was more or less the same as what he did against Young Boys.

22 Oct 2019 03:44:16
His crossing has become extremely poor. Does not score a lot of goals bar penalties. To which am sure defoe or morelos could be putting away.

22 Oct 2019 05:54:53
I agree with you Laudrup no1.Of course tav has made defensive mistakes and been off form recently,
but he is a very good attacking full back, with terrific deliveries and assists, but granted not of late. I don't care what anyone tries to tell me on here, tav IS the whipping boy at ibrox amongst a minority of our supporters. I've also said a good few times on here, that some won't realise what we'll miss, 'till tav is gone. I'm very confident in saying that.

22 Oct 2019 07:06:45
Defo ageee Laudrup no1. For a player at his level, his crossing of the ball is shocking most times. His attacking play is great, but his defending has been well short of the mark. A wee stay on the bench would keep him on his toes and I've been very impressed with Polster at right back. I would lve to see tav playing in a right midfield position and I think he has been half the player since we lost Candias. For me, another player off the boil is Arfield of late and it is showing in our possession play going forward.

22 Oct 2019 10:47:32
Yea your right buddy . tav has played way every game for three years maybe more . he needs a rest Am sure oed played him mid for a game and he played great there . I would get him up there and giv flan a shot at right back.

22 Oct 2019 12:30:09
SGL BY what measure are you basing Tav and “terrific deliveries”? certainly not this season cannot beat first man majority of time and if he does massively overhit just cannot see where you get that view from I posted after game last free kick at about 89 mins high floaty aimless ball to no one rusty position had Barasic written all over it.

22 Oct 2019 13:26:18
I like to see players fight for their place and Tav has played a lot of games. If we drop Tav for a couple of games we lose the wing play but c'mon folks his crossing has really been poor recently. Hearts came out fighting and caught us flat for pace. Personally, we missed Ryan Jack for midfield clout and we really didn't offer much in that area. Morelos was practically playing in midfield trying to get the ball. Where has Docherty gone? Give him the Ardield role for a few games and let's see what he can do. We must continue to win if we are to win this title. Remember, these are just my opinions. Follow Follow folks. 🇬🇧.

22 Oct 2019 14:15:14
Steven Gerrard loyal

Tavernier is a liability as a defender and has been since he signed. He costs goals in vital games and should be dropped. His crossing has been woeful recently and on his current form he wouldn’t be missed one bit.

22 Oct 2019 15:04:52
Arthur D - Wouldn't be missed one bit? so we wouldn't miss his assist one bit?
