Personally I would love to see david vaughan join as he is a great passer of the ball and can create chances.

Any chance of this happening Ed???

{Ed010's Note -The chances of it happening have certainly increased, simply by the fact that Blackpool have just been relegated. Blackpool were the only EPL team, whose wage structure was less than ours, so that must be a huge plus if Ally has identified him as a target

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Dont like vaughan, ah think he is a liability on the park, yes he can pass the ball but how much passing goes on in scotland, blackpool is his level, rangers are far better and far bigger, should be aiming hugher.

Agree1 Disagree1

Everton and Sunderland are all after the Welsh international, and even a Spanish club.According to the media.Lets keep our fingers crossed, and hope its paper talk.As he is a good player, certainly nothing to lose in signing him for nothing.

Eds and gers fans have a look and tell me whats use think if use have time plz a have spent ages lookin for this info. Boug weir healy mayby edu could be all headin. So ally has a few defenders in mind all the players am goin to mention are wanted bye ally have been watched and wanted bye him as first team and squad players and cover as our defence is short on players he wants lee wallace. Andreas granpvist. kyle bartley. Murray davidson. Ricky foster. Midfeild craig conway. Matty pattison. David vaughan. and upfront david goodwillie aken all these players names have been put about but ally wants all them at ibrox new season fact there his top targets fact. Would use like to see these players at rangers to me it sounds great keep in mind the players we have it would be perfect eh ed?
Ryan/Casey

{Ed010's Note - Ryan/Casey, That is quite a list that you have compiled. I for one, would be more than happy to see a few of those players at Ibrox, for the start of the new season.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

He wants craig conway? the craig conway who used to play for dundee united? the craig conway who only just signed and joined st johnstone last week? hmmm think these are players you want, sounds more like the hearts transfer list. i don't want sub standard in our first venture into the market in years. yes you can say foster as a squad player only if we get him for free, rely on youth for our squad, utilise the money for quality rther than quantity, the diffrence jelavic makes as my point

Agree0 Disagree6

Im a dundee born and bred gers fan conway didn't sign for st johnstone robertson did

Let me guess Ed, you won't post this, but I just want to say I hate the way you tarnish most peoples opinions and dismiss them when some of the rumours you dismiss are believable.

{Ed010's Note - You are just saying that to hurt my feelings lol.
Seriously though, I have no problem in uploading any post that conforms to the site rules. Bearing in mind, that although I am the designated Rangers Editor, any one of a number of other editors can respond to any of your posts. ed What are the chances of Rangers getting Barry Ferguson back or James Mcfadden from Birmingham since they are relegated?

{Ed010's Note -It really depends on Birmingham City and what they plan to do for life in the Championship. Barry has one year left on his contract and while McFaddens contract is up this summer, both parties have the option to take up a two year extension.

I was at a evening last night and john bomber brown was a speaker now part of scouting at ibrox. at the q and a section of the night he told us he could not tell us his main targets. But he said he was over in copenhagen looking at one of there main targets. He said they are looking at stephen dobbie and ross wallace(ex celt).goodwillie is a definate no he is going to england. He expects fleck and lafferty to leave. and mentioned that ness is to injury prone to be a regular.

He also mentioned that celtic will sign a real young talent this week . They beat gers to the signing because ally was in usa.

Believable0 Unbelievable13

So on line one you mention that Bomber Brown cannot tell us any of our main targets but then on the next line you tell us that Bomber Brown was in Copenhagen looking at one our main targets. IS this not a contradication of terms & a pile of BS?

Ed what is your note?

{Ed010's Note - I totally agree with you but his budget can't stretch that far. Would you not agree that Jelavic, who cost us four million pounds, is the class of player that Ally should be trying to bring but he is going to be restricted by the amount of cash that he has. His only other option would be to tie down some players who are out of contract and offer them big wages.

Abosulte nonsense about the Steven Defour rumour. Also, Steven Defour is NOT a striker . .he is a creative midfielder capable of playing in deeper role or behind the striker, not to mention he is also the captain Standard Li ge who boasts the interest of several top European sides. To even suggest that he is a potential transfer, never mind having a look at the player on trial is ludacris

Not a rumour and not banter had a thought from yesterday's cup final and just wanted to share and didn't know where else to do it. sent same message for tomorrow's daily record hotline:
As a Celtic fan am delighted with the cup win and fairly happy with the season overall and I must really commend Kenny Black, Motherwell's Assistant Manager. The guy, an ex Rangers, Hearts and Airdrie player lets not forget, stood at the bottom of the steps after the trophy presentation and shook the hand of every Celtic player. He showed real class and dignity in defeat and there are a lot of people, not just on both sides of the old firm but elsewhere who should show as much as he did. Well done Kenny Black.

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Walter took Rangers to a semi final Of Champs League and final of Uefa with very little money compared to other European teams. he and Fergie against each other now that would be great

Agree3 Disagree3

He never took us to the semi final

Agree1 Disagree1

He took us to the equivalent of the semi-final in 92/93. The group stage was technically the semi-final due to the winners of each group playing each other in the final. Marseille won our group and Ac Milan won the other with Marseille winning the final.

Is James Beattie still on the books at Ibrox or did he just get a one year contract?

Sadly, he was a waste of wages. Thought he would have fitted in well in the SPL.

.RB.
{Ed010's Note -Beattie signed a two year contract on 13 August 2010, with the option for a further year.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Ed, do you think we will take up the option of the extra year? Lol

{Ed010's Note -You might think that I'm off my trolley but I think that a fit James Beattie still has something to offer. In the time that he was with us, he didn't look fit nor was he match fit and he didn't look much better down at Blackpool. Maybe with a pre-season under his belt, he might, just be one to take a gamble on.

for all yous wonderin who tomer hamed is heres a wee bit of info on the 24 year old striker

This season, Tomer has established himself as an important player in the first eleven of Maccabi Haifa having scored 15 goals in his last 22 starts for the club in the league and cup. He is currently the club's top goalscorer. His consistent performances alerted Israel's national coach who went as far as to include him in a behind closed doors friendly for the national team against Dynamo Kiev in January 2011, a game Tomer scored in. Subsequently in May 2011, Tomer was called up to the national team in preparation to make his competitive debut for Israel against Latvia in June.
and also according to the Belgian website "Voetbal Belgi ", KV Mechelen has great interest in obtaining this player for the next season. KV Mechelen is a sub top ranked Belgian football club.

Rangers will sign conway on a free. Also vaughan of Blackpool will join Rangers now Blackpool are relagated.

McGregor will stay he is desperate to sign a contract extension and Rangers will also pay to keep Richard Foster of Aberdeen as a squad player.

David Healy will stay as he is now out of contract and wants to stay with his boyhood hero's and prove to Ally he can score in the SPL.

steven defoure is a defensive midfield player not a striker or a winger.

he was out long term last season and Sir Alex wrote him a letter wishing him well and telling him that he would continue to watch his progress when back fit.

he is in the £10-15m bracket same as fellaini when he left liege and also witsel who is is attracting alot of attention - no way he will be at ibrox!

Standard liege have apparently agreed to allow Morrocan Mehdi Carcela and Belgian Steven Defour to take in trial periods at Rangers over the summer. Both are wingers who can also play through the middle. U heard of either Ed? Source is The under 19s manager of swedish semi-pro outfit sollentuna. He does a coaching placement at Standard. Random I know.

Steven Defour is worth about 15 million. This is the guy that saf has been wanting for a couple of years. Liverpool had a 10 million bid rejected for this boy. We are rangers 15 million is not in the price range.

I know the mighty gers are now debt free & now finally have some decent money to spend, but don't want Ally to bring in a bunch of over priced and over rated foreigners on big wages in, we've got a lot of decent youngsters ie. Ness, Hutton, Wylde that deserve a shot, was never Lafferty's biggest fan but if he keeps up the form he finished in then he could be a great partner for Jelavic. Realistic players i Would like to see the Gers bring in: Eremenko, James MacArthur, Goodwille, Wallace, David Vaughan, Conway/Humphrey, Gareth mcauley, Berra, would get rid of Edu, Diouf, Bougherra, Kerkar, Broadfoot, wouldn't entertain Miller or Thomson coming back, if we were to sell Boughy then if we could Get Cuellar or Johnny Evans. Dorrans, Bannan, Snodgrass, Brunt would be great signings but probably out of our reach financially!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Meant to put in my post, also think Jordi Gomez would be a good shout and now that Birmingham have been relegated maybe get Roger Johnson??? What do you's think??

These are my 1st posts so be kind! ! Lol

Steven

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with most of the people you say would be good signings. Bannan would be good as Craig Levein has came out and said if he was getting regular games he would defo be in the Scotland team, so maybe even on loan would do me.
Birmingham going down makes way for some good transfer targets, depending on wages, I would like to see Coisty asking about the likes of Roger Johnson, Gardner, Larsson, amongst others.

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah bannan hasn't been getting his game and is a cracking wee player, would take ome pressure off Davis in the creative aspect, there's a good crop of scottish players out there that'd improve our squad, there's a rule coming out that a team has to have 7 home grown players in ther squad/team?? So it's a route that we might need to go down!

Steven

Agree0 Disagree2

I feel the young talent coming through in Scotland is pretty good, the likes of Danny Wilson, Barry bannan, Jamie Ness, Kyle Hutton, Greg Wylde (If he can improve on taking the ball round players with his pace), jamie murphy, and Forrest from Celtic (im sure he is Scottish) is a good player as much as I hate to admit it lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm not actually sure that the original poster is correct with his assertion that Rangers are now debt free. If he means that Rangers do not now owe money to Lloyds TSB then he is correct, but I understand that the debt has been bought by Mr Whytes company Wavetower. See Rangerstaxcase.com for a full explanation of the finance position

just watchin man utd vrs blackpool, puncheon for rangers geez a break total p. h not good enough back wo.rd step

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Possibly another Humphrey of motherwell for me, too inconsistent and simply not the kind of player we should be looking at, yes we need an out and out winger(or two) but they are not the answer, would prefer Sinclair of swansea or Gradel of leeds or both would be perfect as Gradel could play next to Jelavic which would be a great partnership in my eyes.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 May 2011 17:09:36
What positions does everyone think we need to sign in. I think we need two centre backs, a left back, left midfielder, central midfielder, a winger, two strikers. Plus some squad players. Regarding a lot of the runours I really don't think a lot of them are good enough. Imo John Sutton and Puncheon are not good enough. With regard targets, I think we will sign Conway as soon as we are allowed to. I think Macauley is a fair shout, he is Northern Irish and as far as I know our of contract. Goodwillie is a strong possibilty. Wallace, Cuellar, Bartley, Vaughan, Granqvist all seem possible. I would love to see Novo back, I think he would accept a bench place now he has been away. What do you reckon ed?

GovanFR

PS. I've said before I would spend big to try and get Brunt. I think he would be fantastic in the SPL.

{Ed010's Note -If nothing else, history tells us that returning players, generally do not have as much success as they did in their first stint. There are exceptions and it would be a gamble for Ally to bring Nacho back. I commented earlier that Nacho left because he didn't want to be a squad player and I don't think that will change. There is no doubt that these are exciting times and all will be revealed in the not to distant future and if that future included Chris Brunt, I would be quite happy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Talking of returning players, I hope Kevin Thomson doesn't come back. He is injury prone, he was once a good player but I think the repeated injuries have resulted in him becoming too slow and he misses a lot of tackles.

ok so been on this site a few day now , some rumors believable other ridiculous but anyway heres my view.

i think its safe to say goodwillie will prob be at rangers next season "IF" court cases go in his favor

Eremenko (mibi) depends on price, hes not worth millions am taking a wild guess here and say around 450k

wiess will NOT be at rangers on loan next year (shame good player) but Mancini wants him to go to higher stranded league

forster ( again depends on price range) ally will be looking for as big as stars as he could get at rangers

Cuellar ad say 1.5/2 mill. i read hes looking for champ leg footy so plausible

the whole Gattuso thing again is plausible depending on wage & if hes willing to come back to SPL & re-assured first team football

I Can't say anymore because i don't know , theses are only id say my realistic opinions & iv heard nothing else on player wise

Ed which players from the EPL relagation likely teams could you see as realistic targets for Rangers? By realistic I mean would be about to leave for a fee we could afford, would be good enough for Rangers and also wouldn't demand too high a wage.

{Ed010's Note -The answer to that question will depend on who actually gets relegated. At the moment, looks like West Ham, Blackpool and one other. I wouldn't imagine that any Blackpool player (Adam aside) would not command to high a transfer fee and certainly there wage structure will be on par with ours. West Ham players are more of a problem. While we may be able to buy their players, West Ham have been reported to pay top dollar for wages, far in excess of most of the middle table teams and far in excess of what we can afford.

Players like David Vaughan, Jason Puncheon (Southampton), James McArthur, Matthew Upson, Mark Noble and Christophe Berra have all been touted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think matthew upson would be a great signing for Rangers, he is out of contract as far as im aware, we could offer him first team football and also european football. No idea what kind of wages he is on tho lol may be out of our price range.
David Vaughan is another I would like to see sign, think we would have some tough competition tho.
Looks like Birmingham will be going down and I personally think ALOT of there players should be looked at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with your comments Ed, during the Blackpool game today the commentator said that all of Blackpool's players were on or around the same wage which he quoted was £10k a week. If this is true then Rangers would be able to approach any of their players. Personally I thought Vaughan done well & I liked the boy Puncheon.

Ally has such little belief in his ability as a manager that he refused to give youth a proper chance in the Ramsden's Cup instead of possibly bringing on some young players who need to play games.

Any decent manager could have played at least 6 or 7 Murray Park trained youngsters in every game in the two lowest tiers of Scottish football and still won promotion easily.

You can argue that you don't win anything with youngsters but that old adage only applies when you're playing in a league with teams with similar resources, not when you're Rangers and playing part-time journeymen.

Ed you any info on this tomer hamed a havnt heard oct bwt him. My thoughts on the rangers team are if we dnt lose any 1 a big solid strong cb ova 6.4 tall coz wier is 6.3 and wins alot in air and need to freshin up at bk ally should spend bwt £2mil on 1. We do need a left winger that can attact and score and alley should spend at least £2.5mil to £3mil on 1.a fast pacey tricky striker say bwt £2mil and that would leave £4mil to get cover players and maybe a gd cm what do use think? Ed.
Ryan/casey

{Ed010's Note -It is not a player that I know anything about and there is not a lot about him out there in cyberworld, so I will need to pass on that one.

The problem that Ally and his management team have is this, if Ally has a £15,000,000 transfer pot, he must decide which avenue he wants to go down. I would imagine that 15 million pounds would easily buy an entire new squad, simply by buying the best players from other SPL teams. On the otherhand, if he looks to bring in real quality players, he could actually blow the whole budget on two or three players, particularly if they are playing in the EPL or top European league.

I really don't know what is the best way forward for Rangers, blow the budget on two or three top players or buy a load of "squad" players to supplement what we already have. What do you Guys think ?

tbh i think theres enough goood players for free in england alone, to not spend any cash on transfer fee's!depending on the players playing ball on the wages side of things!

To the guy sayn 2 big name players returning and that it was too hot for this site!
Try again who are they??
Mr ed did u stop this guts post from getn on bcoz u know sumfin as he's making out??

{Ed010's Note - Perhaps I should take this opportunity to explain a few things about the workings of the site and in particular with regards to the viewing, editing and uploading of your posts. On a personal level, as a Rangers fan, I have responsibility for the Rangers rumours and Rangers banter pages but not sole responsibility. There are times throughout the day and night, that I may not be able to "grade" your posts and where the post count rises to a high level, other editors will assist in reading your posts and deciding what should happen to them. I am not saying this is what happened on this occasion but I don't remember reading anything about the subject matter. If the author of that post wishes to re-upload, I will upload it, subject to the post conforming to site rules.

The two ex players are Gattuso, 12 month contract with a one year option. His wife wants home and he wants his badges and the Rangers armband, but that has been known for quite a while.
Due to a fallout with Holloway Adam will sign on a free nesx year. His sign on fee will be "substantial" but will not earn more than the £26k a week he is on at Blackpool but it will give him 50% of any sell on fee. .
Ed, if this goes on, fair play. If not I'll be checking the Ibrox IT lol (just joking, u'r doin' a fine job)

{Ed010's Note - As promised. I can state that I never saw this post first time round and can only assume it was graded by another editor.

Now we're talking - Rino Gattuso would be a terrific addition, however not as captain as I really think Weir will stay on. Having wee Rino in the middle of the park with Davis, Ness, McCulloch, Edu, Hutton as potential partners mean we have no room for Charlie 'Big Ass' Adam with his World Cup 50 yard cross field passes into the stand! Anyway, he'll probably sign for some English mob with too much money. Anybody any views???

Why would we pay £1m for Miller to return when we only sold him 6 months ago for around £300k. NO NO NO NO NO!

If Miller wants to return then let him buy out his contract coz he left for more money so he can spend some of his own money if he has made a mistake.

Plus Mr McCoist will have better targets to spend £1m on.

Ed have u heard anything about Nacho Novo comin back ma friends told me he is ?

{Ed010's Note - Nacho admitted that he left Rangers becasue he feared becoming a "squad" player. If Ally actually signs some of the players that are being touted around, I don't see much changing for Novo in that regard if he was to return.

heard from my mate who stays in daegu (south korea) that if monaco get relegated rangers will make a £2.7Mil bid for Park Chu-Young. in my opinion it would be a great signing but wouldn't be surprised if Celtic sneak in and sign him first, after all he is an international team mate of Ki

Ally going to make a £800k bid for Eremenko. Plus Berra is on Ally's transfer list but all depends on wolves. They want £2.5m for him but Rangers rate him at £1.4m. Carlos Cuellar is top of his list for Defenders but might be out our price range.

To the person who wrote this:

I heard a rumour about Jorg Albertz returning to The Gers in a coaching capacity.
It was only a rumour, but this is one I'd love to see come to life.

I would love to see this is as well he was my hero growing up, and also my mate was at a rangers speakers night that Derek Ferguson was at, Derek announced that there would be a big ex player announced as part of McCoists team for next season, he didn't give names but that's what he said. We've thought of Albertz as well but also that it might be Derek himself. Any other suggestions from you guys??

Cant believe old firm fans wanting players like Gattuso(best years well behind him) owen(more intrested in his horses) Bellamy(injury prone) and Keane(legs gone). These players would cost a fortune in wages for little return, surely it would make more sense to go for younger players who are hungrier and will have a sell on value

its been a while since I last posted but we got the double and the takeover has happened and Im satisfied that the club will progress.as for signings I
think you are all well off track- this season is about change I think weir, healey diouf, weiss edu, beattie.kerkar, foster, will go.coming in Id guess at Chris Humphreys calum davidson, conway and perhaps gomis from united with maybe sutton also macguire from aberdeen plus one really good centre back from England don't know which one!no goodwillie, gatusso, puncheon, tj campbell, charlie /adam.etc etc possible Bogherra will go too maybe cash and swap for two central defenders/ midfielder thay wouldbe my guess for next season.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

I think goodwillie will come in for 2m.
and we could do a sawp deal with QPR bougherra for taarabt that would be good.

Agree0 Disagree4

No chance we would get him he will either still be with qpr or he will join someone like arsenal, newcastle

Maguire is going to Derby County, according to the teletext yesterday. So it sounds like he was never a target for Ally.Who would knock back the champions league, for the championship?
