Aww great signing, well chuffed, decent player, decent leader, only 23 years of age, great experience for his age, in terms of clubs, and world class players he's trained with and been around day in day out, over the past 6 or 7 years, won trophies, and leagues, and played at a top level as well, welcome home Wilson.

Just reading Danny wilson will be on £8000 a week. Anyone else heard this? If true has the club not learned anything from the last few years, a very average SPL standard centre half on £8000 a week is laughable.

stuart ge us peace would u rather pay him 8k 0r maculloch 13k we need him I would say comparedv to some of the clowns we have paid far more for he represents good value for money and there was no fee

Quite correct BIGWULL, this signing and hopefully Scott Allan sets down a marker. Signing[s] such as this shows that, hopefully, Ibrox will be attractive to quality players, at reasonable prices once again.
Another feature that, hopefully, will continue is the fact that the manager's targets are being supported by the board, so let's hope the corner is turning. Signs appear to be good.

22 Jun 2015 22:56:49
Good signing, although what did Hearts pay him last year? surely we would be looking at something similar. with a 3 year contract going up each year?depending on status.

Agree3 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 23:20:16
I have a bit of sympathy with you on this OP as £8k is £400k /year only 10 players on this and we are up to £4million on salaries plus the rest of the squad and coaches (plus costs, expenses, bonuses N.I etc) and our main income ST sales if up to 45,000 will bring in only £12million.
It really depends what he was on at Hearts but you cannot imagine it was anywhere near that wage - if you are correct?
Interesting read on another site where wee Wullie Henderson has another pop at McCoist. The article claims that Dave King asked him to resign and give up his right to the rest of his salary but Ally refused?
I never read that before - not good if it is true though.

Agree6 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 07:48:54
Surely his salary hasn't been leaked, he's only been a rangers player a couple of hours. People just randomly say salarys and it sticks .

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Jun 2015 08:56:38
there is a big difference between signing a 30 year old sum thing player than a 23 year old player with potential to get better and have sell on value so if the lad is on 8 grand a week then so be it this is a sound investment I can not see him being on this anyway time will tell we have to offer them something to attract them king previously stated the 12 million would be the managers budget if we bought 45000 season tickets all that money would go to the manager to sign players not the running costs of the club so 8 grand a week for a young player is not a lot of money

Agree0 Disagree7

23 Jun 2015 10:18:30
Firstly I agree he has only been signed a wee while so how is the terms of his contract being leaked. I'm just going by speculation really.
as someone asked what did hearts pay hin last season? As I've heard between £1500 and £2000 so if it's the latter we have quadrupled his wages. Personally I believe he will be with us for a couple years as he's average at best and the many hearts fans I know have all stated they aren't fussed he wasn't signing a new deal there (this was months before he had been linked with us)

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Jun 2015 13:42:08
craigs8688 sad old sod that I am I did a wee search for King's or Murray's assurance that the £12 million from 45,000 season ticket sales WILL GO TO THE MANAGER. I didn't find it I found an article saying the level of investment from him and for example the 3 bears would be greater if they could not convince the fans to come back. But nowhere did I find a promise that the £12million generated if they sold 45,000 season tickets would go to the manager. Where the OP and other cautious old bears are coming from is remember Kevin Kyle stating the "players could not believe the money they were being offered to play in the third division"? Followed by he would have played/signed for a quarter of the money he was given?
But yes younger players with sell on values are the way to go

I more I hear Mark Warburton the more impressed I get, he seems to have a passion for the club, and he wants the players he signs to have the same, he sounds like a cool customer, who knows what he wants, a no nonsense guy, who will make our great club better, he may turn out to be our best signing, upwards and onwards, Come on the Gers

On the subject of new players and in particular a goalkeeper, how about David Marshall of Cardiff City? He looks good and imposing in goal for Scotland and Cardiff are struggling in the Championship. I know fee and wages would be an issue but just a thought. I don't think contemplating McGregor's return would be a good idea.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed039's Note - Signed a 4 year deal in 2014 worth £20k per week I seem to remember seeing)

22 Jun 2015 17:30:34
Cracking goal keeper but I reckon he's good enough to play for a top ten side in the premiership so very unlikely he'd move to the scottish championship.

Have heard so many times about that Celtic are continually linked with our potential signing targets Allan Vuckic Wilson to name three are we setting our sights to high or is Celtic trying to boost players values by placing rival bids limiting the amount of potential signings we could bring in

Believable3 Unbelievable4

23 Jun 2015 08:45:08
i quite like most of your posts but do you not think that maybe Rangers fans link these players with Celtic so that it looks like more of a coup when we get them. None of these players would get in the Celtic team. Vuckic nearly went to Motherwell which is a level down from Celtic, Wilson I think there was basic interest probably as a squad player and Allan isn't any better than what they have

22 Jun 2015 13:40:34
Rumour has it that rangers are considering stevie may. i'm sorry but if were willing to waste money on players like him we have no hope at all yes he had one decent year, watched him playing for Scotland under 21s and he was utterly poo. We should be going for players like Jamie Murphy! Great lad and great potentil great pace and natural position is st so why not?

Believable3 Unbelievable8

22 Jun 2015 13:47:26
Sorry but I think Stevie may is exactly the sort of player we want. Young, hungry, point to prove after a disappointing season and finally some pace even if he's not lightning quick!

22 Jun 2015 13:56:41
Gaz, stevie may is a great player

Agree8 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 14:32:23
would take May over any of our attackers any day I would rather we sign players than take them on loan though as other club just become interested and the price goes up for the player and more than likely
they moves to one of the other teams and not the team they are on loan at

Agree8 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 15:35:30
One descent season is still more than Jamie Murphy has ever had he would be one of the worst signings of all time a striker that doesn't score, we already have a few of them.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 15:39:08
Just my opinion lads. Stavie may is not a great player over rated and wrong type of player rangers need ,we need pace, goals and vision in the side and may has one of them .Some goals provifing we can get folk in that has the vision to find him .

Agree0 Disagree4

22 Jun 2015 17:32:00
stevie may ain't the slowest player also scored 28 goals with last season at stjohnstone at must have the vision to score so things you said above about him are wrong

27 Jun 2015 12:52:57
Would take him

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 13:22:17
Hypothetical question to Rangers fans as we may get neither, but if we could only have one, who would you choose between Wilson and Allan?

Both good players, but I think if pushed I would plump for Wilson. He did look a good player when alongside Weir. He is only 23 and could be a defensive mainstay for many years.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

22 Jun 2015 13:50:27
Tricky one that mate if there was a fee to be paid for both I think I would plump for Allen, but the fact Wilson is on a free and it's a key position that he will be filling just sways it in his favour, but fingers crossed we'll get the pair of them.

Agree5 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 17:19:55
Allen all day long he influences games and can actually control them. Wilson is a good defender in a Championship Hearts team but other than that not outstanding. I would still take both in a heartbeat as I think every player we sign will flourish under the W &W management team

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 12:03:02
While we begin the process of rebuilding our pillaged club, it is gratifying to see fellow Bears concentrating here on football matters. Naturally conjecture runs riot about the shape of W&W's revamped squad. They are obviously taking an intelligent and enlightened approach to player recruitment, the polar opposite of the McCoist madness. However, having enjoyed great Gers keepers from Bobby Brown to The Goalie and Shagger, I am convinced that we must prioritise this position in the spine of the new team. Even before he Motherwell fiasco, Bell to me is not even as able as some of the journeyman keepers in our own league. He utterly fails to command his box and, while doubtless unnerved by bombscares like Jig and Mohsni in front of him last season, he never convinces as a reliable or intimidating presence. There are any number of candidates on either side of the border that Mark and Davie should be considering bringing in as a squad lynchpin. The other putative outfield captures all look promising, and in cases like Eustace, Wilson and Allan, show early shrewd judgement, but we really do need a goalkeeper who can inspire complete confidence as a basis for longer term quality and resilience. Tall, commanding, and authoritative as well as an agile shot-stopper. Basics first, gentlemen!

Believable6 Unbelievable7

22 Jun 2015 12:37:12
Doesn't matter how good your goalie is if you can't score, or if you have a awful team which can't defend.

Agree6 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 16:23:41
I agree with both posts, but a good keeper is vital and can be a game changer. Bell like templeton hasn't impressed since being injured. At this stage I would settle for a promising young keeper with great presence who will get plenty game time with Bell. When / If we get promoted if neither look good enough for the premier then make a top goalie a main priority next summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 17:07:30
Try and get George Long on loan or buy him from Sheffield Utd, was at Motherwell on loan last season. Good young keeper

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 17:20:08
EWell said old yin!

I 100% agree with you I have been trying to post that on here for a long time.

Bell is the worst, by far, Rangers goalkeeper I have seen since big Peter McCloy was getting on in years and a wee bit slow getting down for shots, that said McCloy commanded his area and at his peak was a very good GK. Since then Rangers have in my opinion had some of the best GKs in Europe between the sticks my 3 favourites being 1. Goram, 2. Klos and 3. Shagger. Chris Woods and many others being nearly as good.

Defences are dependent on having the confidence of a secure GK behind them, Bell is not a good goalkeeper in any form.

I really hope W & W go for a replacement rather than waiting to see a disaster unfold with Bell.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - He is a terrible goalkeeper, there is no doubt about that)

22 Jun 2015 17:52:25
Well lads u could of had our keeper, but like everything else it wasn't to be.
P.S. thanks for getting him fit and ready to come to the champions.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 19:02:59
I'm by no means saying Bell is a great goalkeeper, he is not. But most of you probably thought he was an improvement on Neil Alexander when he signed, agreed? Which of them won a Championship medal last season? And I'm not pointing that out in a gloating sense, just merely saying you don't need a great goalie to be in a successful team in the Championship. Is he by definition the weakest link in the team? A lot of you will know that better than me but if he isn't then he certainly wouldn't be where I would focus my efforts. When on a limited budget improve a team from it's weakest point out. I'm not sure he is your weakest point and I am sure poorer goalies have got a Championship winners medal.

I noticed some article from that guy with the made up name saying king offerrd Ashley his shares I find it hard to believe but why does the club not take action against him then? Ed would you say this story is a load of nonsense

Believable6 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - yes it is nonsense, as usual.}

22 Jun 2015 13:18:04
I think it is a load of invented nonsense, King on the day that the Rangers board under his instruction voted on a resolution to not pay Ashley back his loan for the time being is supposed to have went cap in hand to London to ask Ashley to buy him out. No chance and I am no King sycophant.

Personally I would like the Rangers board to ridicule the claims, explaining that this will be the one and only time they will respond to the rumours of this bitter man. Which would humiliate him and put off others who make about fake stories about the club.

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Jun 2015 14:21:02
Naz and Ed I agree this story seems ridiculous. But as for making a statement saying "this is the one and only time we will respond to this guy" - well, it's too late for that. Remember the Wallace board did previously publicly refute his claim, last January or February I think it was, that we were running short of cash and unable to secure any City investment. Total rubbish, said the board. But then we announced to the AIM just a few weeks later that we had taken the first of what was to be many (and ongoing) emergency loans. So he doesn't always get it wrong apparently. I hasten to add that I very rarely read his stuff, although I hear about it through this and other banter sites, and i'm certainly not sticking up for him, he clearly has an anti-rangers agenda. But that episode from last year was the first time I paid attention to what he said and the fact it turned out to be basically true did stick in my mind. As far as I understand the main thrust of his overall narrative is that we still desperately need external finance and it's far from clear where that's going to come from. Even if he's a d#ckhead, it frankly is difficult to argue against that. That said, I can't see DK bailing out. Not quite yet anyway.

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - that story of cash running short was not something he had to source, it was well known that there was no money. It is just that Rangers were refusing to admit to it. Just like it was well known David Murray had put the club into serious trouble but no Rangers site was running with it, purely because at that time you could not criticise Murray. I can remember getting so much abuse I stopped even editing this site for a while after mentioning something that was not favourable to Murray. Fans just want to hear good stuff about their own club and bad things about their rivals, so he is one of a multitude of 'journalists' that pander to it. The odd true story does not make up for the fact that a lot of what he does is guesswork. Even the CIA will put mostly facts in their misinformation, as a lie is more believable when surrounded by checkable facts.}

22 Jun 2015 17:20:35
Completely agree Ed, I'm sure a lot of it is misinformation laced through the facts. But equally if someone is printing facts that are true and important to us, but which our club is refusing to admit, then why reject the source of those facts just because he is a smug t#sser?

I'm sure you'll agree that there is a very unhealthy lack of questioning of those in blazers amongst us bears in general. Many of the fans who are now deriding the last board are the very ones who unquestioningly believed that same board's statement last year when it was lying to us that we weren't skint. And relying on that to call this guy out as as a liar when it turned out what he was saying was the truth (and, as you rightly say, it wasn't exactly very difficult to believe.)

So what i'm saying is, if the lies of our own board won't be exposed by our own fans and those who have our interests at heart, perhaps we shouldn't be too quick to knock sources of info that do sometimes tell us the uncomfortable facts. Even if those sources have an anti-rangers agenda. And even if it's only the odd story that genuinely hits the target. It's always possible to exercise sensible discretion over what sounds plausible or not. But why reject them out of hand completely? If we do that we just play into the hands of Traynor's lame #ss PR for the board, without any alternative to measure that against.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - the difference is that this story is just a lot of crap. Everyone and his dog know that Ashley can't buy any more shares. So why would King be begging Ashley to buy them? He is not an idiot.}

22 Jun 2015 18:39:18
Don't know the story ,but this is exactly how you have ended up where you are, by not questioning the custodians of your club ,this has allowed a group of business men working in concert to asset strip the old and new clubs, and they ain't finished yet, why don't the supporters ask the uncomfortable questions and hold these people to account ,its their business but it's your club ,without the supporters these people are grubbed this will be your last chance to get back on your feet, ask the questions!

Since we need a right back what are peoples thoughts on Keith Watson? He's 25, available on a free, pacey and 6'1 whicch would add height to the back line as well. He's also got experience of over 120 SPL games for Utd. Would do a job for at least this season I would think.
