Only banking 250k for candeias is a joke. if we tried to sign him, any team would be askin at least a mill.

22 Jul 2019 23:47:58
I thought they meant banking 250k profit mate, as we got him for 700 n sold him for close to a million.

23 Jul 2019 10:07:29
As far as I’m aware we banked 250k, as in £250k profit meaning we sold him for £800-£900k.

22 Jul 2019 20:31:25
Why do rangers not publish transfer fees if players. Is it because we are making a loss and don't want criticism!

22 Jul 2019 21:12:33
Stone me.

22 Jul 2019 21:39:51
Jason, doesn't matter what he went for, he didn't want to fight for place, expected to be 1st choice, if you don't want to be at worlds most successful club then ship out.
BTW Turkish press reporting fee was 900k, not bad for 31 year old in last year of contract, released some wages as well.

22 Jul 2019 21:46:39
Jason, we could announce we got five mill for him and there would still be criticism.

22 Jul 2019 22:55:24
Reading that the daniel candeias transfer fee to genclerbirligi was only 250k.

22 Jul 2019 23:15:02
He left, fair play he wants more game time and couldn't get it at I brox I see that as a bonus and a guy who wants to play football it's the guys work his living that he enjoys, good on him, shows he wants to work and not take a wage and would rather play.

22 Jul 2019 23:14:25
It may just be the clubs policy. Don't see what difference it makes, may as well publish the players inside leg measurement for all the good it would do.

23 Jul 2019 01:13:27
It matters because we have conistantly paid players off instead of getting money for them. Dosent happen at celtic.

23 Jul 2019 09:32:10
We've had to pay off players because they were sh*te and that was the only way to get rid.

23 Jul 2019 09:47:23
SG loyal depends where u read. Turkish media saying 600 euros. Other saying 900 . thing is he wanted to go so we also save 750 k in wages.
Can be invested in a better player.

23 Jul 2019 13:33:00
We don't publish transfer fees because we are a private limited company and by company law don't need to. Tims on other hand are public limited company and are forced to declare all because in shareholders interest.

24 Jul 2019 01:23:53
@Jason Brown, it happens at Celtic all the time. Comper, Allen, mulumbu, kouassi, Gamboa are all recent examples of signings that barely have a single game between them and are either running down their contracts or having them ripped up. They have far to big of a squad too, it's just not publicised as much.

Candieas just happens to be one of the first players in a long time that we are actually sad to see go, but that's that's a sign of the squad being healthier.

22 Jul 2019 19:20:53
Turkish press reporting that we got 900k for Candeias.

22 Jul 2019 20:29:54
Your a legend for reporting this, well done! 900 k is not bad.

22 Jul 2019 20:53:11
Yeah agree lads £900k for a 31year old in the last year of his contract. Plus our Manager obviously doesn’t fancy the player and that’s the most important thing!

22 Jul 2019 18:20:54
I think we've done great with transfers so far, remember also docherty and polster are like new players

probably the strongest club in the world.

22 Jul 2019 21:33:15
u on the carlsbergs?

23 Jul 2019 10:26:56
If Carlsberg did comments.

22 Jul 2019 18:20:39
Sorry for bringing up this post again, but the more I think about it the more frustrated I am. Daniel Candeias was never the most consistent, but as has been mentioned on here, what he lacked in consistency he made up for with pure effort. The understanding him and Tav had was priceless, one which I think we'll suffer without.

Gerrard has brought in Ojo, and to be fair he arrived with plenty of backing, which he has showed with 2 good performances.

My problem with it is this, Ojo will never be a Rangers player, he is part of the relationship, not unlike Kent, we have with Liverpool, and that connection.

Have we sacrificed a player, that has fought tooth and nail for the last 2 years, for what is basically a short term solution? Only time will tell, but I think over the past 18 months it has shown that Gerrard has his own way of thinking and that nobody is safe.

I hope Ojo produces the goods and lives up to the hype, across the full season, I'll back him until he no longer wears the jersey.

22 Jul 2019 18:39:08
At 31 DC would only have been short term.

He was good, I liked his work rate and he could score a goal however, we need better in order to progress.

I’m not a big fan of loan players, we should be looking after our own first but I honestly think Ojo will be outstanding for us and score a load of goals this season.

22 Jul 2019 19:09:36
Brian1978 - my concern with Ojo is he appears to be a 1 trick pony - - bitof pace certainly but on his YouTube video and in every game so far he has tried the same trick to score a goal - edge of box, left foot curler into far side of the goal - - the last 2 teams and especially Blackburn shut him down fairly easily in my opinion. Given e is relatively young and is also going to be inconsistent, especially when the hammer throwers get hold of him!

22 Jul 2019 19:28:31
Bar72, I share the same concern mate, more than that though, he doesn't look like the type of player who is defensive minded, I keep going back to it but by losing Candeias, in my opinion, we lose that understanding and relationship with Tav, which has allowed for his assists and attacking threat. Time will tell as a say, I'll support the decisions Gerrard makes for our club.

22 Jul 2019 21:38:58
i really like DC, his back healer for Morelos, the goals he took during the pre-season were quality but he didn't do that everyday. i agree that the relationship with Tav was commendable but that's what should happen in every team. know what the other player is thinking before he kicks the ball to ensure you move into the space that he wants you too. BF was a genius at it just unfortunately some of his team mates didn't have the same footballing mind and fans thought it was a wayward pass. however i am sure that they will be working on relationships every training session.

22 Jul 2019 17:54:34
pictures show Candeias has signed in Turkey. Anyone know what fee we got for him?

22 Jul 2019 18:59:31
£500k.

22 Jul 2019 17:50:45
Rangers Vs Midtyylland of Denmark in 3rd round if we get thru which of course we are all hoping.

22 Jul 2019 16:02:13
Good luck to Candies. what he lacked in his game he more than made up for with effort. one of a handful of the previous meds that spilled for his wage.

Good luck enjoy the weather.

22 Jul 2019 17:39:11
I wish our now former winger daniel candeias all the very best of luck with his new club in turkey,
genclerbirligi. He was well liked with our supporters and did well in his 2 years with us. Go smash it candyman. You will always be welcome back at ibrox.

22 Jul 2019 17:50:05
Well said Steven . The guy wanted to play every week but his form unfortunately could never allow that . he had some great moments ( back heel fir alfrefdo in Europe) but was never consistent . good luck Daniel.

22 Jul 2019 15:41:52
Back at the SPFL "top table" again with Robertson elected and Lawless leaving.

22 Jul 2019 14:41:40
Some people on here saying we were out if we drew wolves, I'll tell you something they'll be pleased the never drew us.

22 Jul 2019 13:18:31
Rangers will face FC Midtjylland in the Europa League third round if they can get past Progres.

22 Jul 2019 13:28:50
Tough but definately one we can win be a good test.

22 Jul 2019 15:54:36
Disappointing as means tought draw should we get to the playoffs.

22 Jul 2019 16:17:30
Ok so I’m not sure how the minds at UEFA work so I’m not sure how the draws for each round work. How does drawing Midtjylland mean a tougher draw for the next round? Especially as they were a seeded team?

22 Jul 2019 16:17:32
How does that work dunfermline? an not doubting genuinely don't know do we get some other team from group 3 seeds if we get by progress and the danes?

22 Jul 2019 17:52:34
Do we not get seeded if we beat the Danes but hey please please let’s not count our chickens . especially after Sunday’s second half . only a friendly but pretty poor.

22 Jul 2019 20:23:27
Be good to have a look calber player in Denmark it's leauges like this we should be looking at.

22 Jul 2019 10:43:02
A wee addendum to my last post

How much would we have to pay to replace Tav?

How much would we have to pay to replace Morelos?

Anyone got a spare £100 million?

22 Jul 2019 11:12:25
I posted yesterday regarding this. My worry is that he sees Flanagan or Polster as a replacement. In terms of how much it would take to replace him like for like, you could find a diamond in the rough for 200k or spend big ( 4 to 6m ) realistically, on a player who fails to impress.

22 Jul 2019 11:19:03
Who?

I am wondering how much it would cost to buy a like for like replacement?

22 Jul 2019 11:50:17
Prob reckon we could find suitable replacements for 5 mill each. Morelos is a tough 1 cause of his style of play. Tav i think easier to replace as u find a lot of right backs are athletic and like getting forward these days. Our new striker could be pen taker. polster is a good player not as good going forwars but far better defender.

22 Jul 2019 11:59:41
Cato what is a like for like replacement, someone who can't defend, scores most penalties he takes, plenty of assists.
Polster bought as a replacement, can defend, one game one assist . I agree Flanagan not long term answer, as he does not get many assists
I believe most penalties are scored, so over to Defoe, Morelos or an other
It's not the end of rfc if Tav goes. He may need to go if we don't get to group stages.

22 Jul 2019 12:05:25
I disagree Paul I think polster is good at going forward I think more game time for him he could be a gem. But if Tav was to leave it would be a big asset we would miss.

22 Jul 2019 12:11:53
100mil 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

22 Jul 2019 12:37:43
In terms of replacing Tav I think you just have to take a look across the city to see the problem we may have. They have been searching for a replacement right back for the best part of a year now and still haven’t really found one. The issue they (and if we sell Tav we) have is that to find someone that can offer the same or is at the same level of who is being replaced you are probably talking of spending 5million plus. The issue with that is players who cost 5 million plus don’t always fancy playing in the Scottish league, even if it is for Rangers or Celtic. You’re then back to trying to pick up a young up and coming gem which are far and few between. Players like Edmunson and Aribo, both of whom I’m guessing we scouted for a long time. So if we haven’t been actively searching for a right back, finding one to replace Tav at short notice may prove a very difficult task.

22 Jul 2019 12:47:00
I despair I really do. Paul86 please send you resume to Ibrox, 5m really? that's Mark Allan out the door then. Tav can and does defend he's not the best but far from the worst. 4 years averaging 20 (or close) assists a season please digest this. Andy Robertson got 11 for Liverpool I'm not comparing the two as full backs just pointing out the enormity of what Tav brings to the table up here. I think Celtics best assists was about 14 same league and again not saying Tav would beat Celtic on his own. I got pelters for referring to some of our posters as brain dead so please stop proving me right.

22 Jul 2019 13:12:45
I think it could be as much as £800m although if we get the expected £1.2b then we should still be up.

On a serious note though, it would probably cost us £2m / £3m to replace, seeing how we only spent £1.3m getting them in the first place.

We’ve got a good scouting team in place and we’ll have people lined up should they move, we probably won’t even know the players who are lined up but I’m sure they’ll do a job for us.

Personally, as we’re expecting EPL prices for Tav and Morelos I’m looking forward to watching both at Ibrox next season.

22 Jul 2019 13:31:13
But why do we need to buy a player, we have a youth team. Use it. Celtic did and got a great player in Tierney.
( say what you want about him he's a great player. we would be saying legend status if he was with us. )
Why don't SG loo at our youth and build them to be something great.

22 Jul 2019 14:03:39
and still no one has come up with one player to replace Tav or Morelos - it is all right to sell them for £25 mill, combined, but how much will it cost to replace them?

22 Jul 2019 14:04:32
Fifa - which is why SG has sent our youth out on loan.

22 Jul 2019 14:07:51
Why would mark allen be out door? He hasn't spent 5mil on a single player. Infact his job is to identify talent that costs next to he haw. We spent not even 1.5mil combined for tav and morelos so what would be the point of having mark allen if we couldn't get two players like that again for little cost? Of course we can replace them both for less than 5mil combined. So I ask again, why would mark allen be out the door? 👍.

22 Jul 2019 14:27:00
coldo - replace them with who? Who is going to score 30 (+) goals for us per season? Who is going to replace our captain defend, play sweeper and score important goals with penalties and freekicks?

22 Jul 2019 14:41:42
Hate to be a party pooper coldo but where are Morelos and Tavs replacements bearing in mind that SG is selling them both to the highest bidders and the start of the season is not too far away.

22 Jul 2019 15:16:44
Cato, we’re not part of Rangers scouting team, how are we going to come up with a player? Just relax, we’ve had better than both Tav and Morelos and we’ll have better again in the future, both are good players but not irreplaceable. If they move on our scouting team will sign other players who’ll score 30+ goals.

22 Jul 2019 15:16:46
For 25mil we could easily replace them👍.

22 Jul 2019 15:39:43
Cato, I've already said USA international, polster.

22 Jul 2019 16:10:10
I simply love Morelos and have from beginning but I am starting to think like others that we link up play much better with Defoe and arfeild . the last six or seven games have been like that . it can’t be a coincidence surely.

22 Jul 2019 16:15:01
I will make this very simple

find a striker anywhere that can score 30 goals plus, a season and is worth less than £15 million and would be first name SG picks every game?

COLDO?

22 Jul 2019 16:22:57
I’ll make it even easier, why would we? How about we leave this type of job to the professionals? Why not go play some champman?

22 Jul 2019 16:31:52
Morelos did it costing a million. Lawrence Shankland did it last season. Griffiths did it a couple of years ago for the tims costing next to hee haw.

22 Jul 2019 16:47:15
Defoe cato, its simple you are talking 💩👍.

22 Jul 2019 17:17:07
Is that your answer - yes ah could?

😂😂😂😂😂.

22 Jul 2019 17:53:59
Isn't Polster already a full US international? There's your answer then.

22 Jul 2019 18:16:38
Are we just all going to ignore the fact Cato thinks Tav plays sweeper? Ramblings of a mad man.

22 Jul 2019 18:50:06
He has taking the baton off coop with that "100mil" statement snell. Cato is obviously challenged in some capacity👍.

22 Jul 2019 20:17:03
I actually didn't notice the sweeper part as I skimmed it because even by previous posts he clearly doesn't know much about football.

22 Jul 2019 10:39:18
The common theme on here at the moment is that Tav will go for £10 mill and Morelos £15 mill. Put together £25 mill sounds good, but when you look down south at the players who are going for that king of money are the 18 - 20 year old's who have potential. You're seasoned really good players 22 - 28 year old's are ALL going for £30 mill plus.

Can any posters on here show me a 30 goal per season striker in his prime with a top club selling for £15 mill.

The same applies to Tav - show me a captain of a top club, a top defender who can bomb down the wing and score going for £10 mill.

Remember, we are not Ross County, Ayr Utd or Hibs we are Rangers FC our top players should be sold the going rate not sold on the cheap.

22 Jul 2019 11:25:42
Completely agree Cato. The EPL teams can't afford to buy potential and develop it, they need players to hit the ground running and that's where our league fits in I reckon. We buy the potential and develop it for a season or two and sell on but, and it's a big but, we MUST sell for the type of monies you mentioned in your post. Get as much as we can for a tries and tested player. KT 30m plus, our own JT the same and Alfie, well what do you pay for a 30 plus goal machine these days?

22 Jul 2019 11:51:40
Our players would be of higher value if they had won any trophies and played more than 1 season in europa league group stages.

22 Jul 2019 12:04:09
Well said Cato, But unfortunately Rangers play in Scotland, Which is not recognised as a Top League, If we played down south, Rangers would demand top Money, But I think the Top brass at Rangers will accept the estimated 10M and 15M for Tav and Morelos if any Bids come in, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺.

22 Jul 2019 12:12:51
Forget down south cato this is the spl🙃👍.

22 Jul 2019 13:28:20
How can you even get close to claiming players playing up here can go to EPL and hit the ground running? This league is nothing compared to the players playing down there. You can only compare to players in our own league. Yes tav is the best right back in SPL. but that doesn't make him valued anywhere near mid range in EPL. He will be seen to be valued at mid to top range in championship if we are going to try and compare, which is pointless. Listen fair play to celtic if they do manage to hold off and get what they want for KT. Tav hasn't played Champions league football, he doesn't play for national team. He plays against with no disrespect poor teams week in week out.

22 Jul 2019 14:00:54
finty - think you will find that Tav came from 'down there'

22 Jul 2019 16:45:36
Charlie Austin, £8million, would be suitable replacement should Morelos be sold, which I hope will not be the case. Not only a decent record, but has a lot of passion, if his mental interview from last season is anything to go by!
As for Tav, he won't be leaving, end of.

22 Jul 2019 17:46:30
They have now had a season of playing in Europe too fintytint, and I'm not saying they are world beaters but we as a club have taken the chance on some promising talent and developed them further.

The spl is a decent standard and they are playing regularly and against European opposition, all of which adds up to something which is attractive to EPL or championship teams to take a punt on. You only need to look at what they are paying for players down there who are playing reserve league football.

The experience we have provided and the education under SG et al is worth it to these teams as they're in no position to do it themselves. For example, out with the top six or seven teams, who has played in Europe and can add that to the CV of their players?

The top two leagues in England can out spend us and Celtic hands down, so let's make them spread the wealth, if you want our players that we have developed, then show us the money, as yer man said.
End of rant lol.

22 Jul 2019 20:19:03
Came from down there cato but disn't exactly do well hence why he ended up here.

22 Jul 2019 10:35:09
Folks just a quick question. Was yesterday the 1st time Davis has worn number 10?

22 Jul 2019 11:31:21
No, he took the number 10 when he returned in January.

22 Jul 2019 12:46:38
Never noticed until yesterday Steve10, didn't have my glasses on to be fair lol.

22 Jul 2019 10:55:41
Hi folks, just a small observation from yesterdays match, in the second half, it's the first time during these pre-season fixtures that I've witnessed a team coming at us at pace, and we looked slightly vulnerable. I'm sure SG will have taken note of that, on the plus side, Ithought the lad Edmundson was solid again, I think we have a good one here, and Greegsy, please cut out the faffing around in the 6 yard box, just get the ball out quickly.

22 Jul 2019 09:17:02
A bit worried for season ahead now with candieas morelos and Tav looking like they will leave can forget about going for title or doing well this season if that's the case what are the board doing.

22 Jul 2019 10:04:11
FFS I’ve seen some pessimism on this site before but you should really look to another sport my friend. Successful teams will always have players attractive to other teams and everyone has their price! The board are doing a fine job under constraints and maybe I’m being over optimistic but have scouted alternatives if this happens. Maybe main again at Christmas to see where we are, me I think we will be in a good place.

22 Jul 2019 10:18:55
Notntoo worried about candieas going tbh. don't want other 2 to leave. 1 possibly might though i cannot see both leaving. 10mill for Tav and he's gone. am sure morelos could step up and take the penalties.

22 Jul 2019 10:51:11
Flanno was quite exposed at left back because he could only turn into his good foot. Although if we were to give him a proper try at rb if tav left i think he would be solid.
