there has just been a bit of breaking news that I shall release early. I know it will be in mondays papers but david goodwillie has to be at murray park on monday afternoon for talks about joining the glasgow giants . . . . . . .

I am an Aberdeen fan myself and I don't know if its good or bad news for yous but richard foster will not be back at rangers next year as aberdeen are wanting 800k and rangers arnt happy with this fee

rangers may hold talks with twins that used to play with accies marco and flavio about giving them trials am not to sure about that one but that is the rumour

salim kerkar will go out on loan to southhampton for a year.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

RICHARD FOSTER. I think he gave more passes away than he made, he also was exposed in the big games apart from his pace. Do not pay that for him as I am sure for that amount someone better is available.

Paxio twins weren't good enough for hamilton

Heard that Rangers are going to put in a £1,000,000 bid for St Mirren's Darren McGregor, because Davie Weir is retiring this year.

Bull. Davie wants to continue and the bid is £150k which has been accepted.

Should be mare like £1.50. Another Alan how on the way will never make an appearance the mans shockingly bad

Barry Bannan to come on trial for a period when pre season training starts, Matthew Gilks is the back up signing if either Greegs or Alexander go. Marius Zaliukas was a target but romanov is blocking a move after a fall out with the player. Chris Humphrey will have a choice of either old firm in the summer. Just rumours ive heard through the SFA coaching programme i work in.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Barry bannan is a massive celtic fans, as is his whole family, we don't want him at ibrox

{Ed010's Note -I respect your views but I think that the days, of what team you and your family support, are long gone. The majority of Rangers fans want to see the best players at Ibrox, irrespective of what team they support.

I ask this hypothetical question purely in the interests of some topical debate........

Would you and other Rangers fans rather have a team full of Rangers "fans" and win nothing each season or would you rather have a Rangers team full of Celtic "fans" and dominate the SPL for years to come ?

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed, I only mentioned about Bannan as my workmate is friends with him and Barry can't stand rangers

I would like to see Hutton, Berra, Engquist, Wallace, Qwaresema, Gattusso, McArthur, Lovenkrands, Russell, Bryson, Upson, Eremenko, Alan Smith, Nolan, Chris Burke, Kevin Thomson, McCormack and mayby Spector. Obviously, we won't see all these players at Rangers next season but I am just saying, who I would like to see playing at Ibrox.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Quaresma?? how much is he much i would like to see him come to Ibrox aswell but how much would we need to pay?

Agree0 Disagree0

Quaresma ? Absolutely completely utterly no chance in hell ! The mans on 50 grand a week and besiktas just paid 7.3 million fur him last summer n hes been ever present so I dnt honk we'd get him on a cheap ! These rumours are just overexcited childish people who have a big imagination !

dorrans deal looking more likely, he has recently bought a house in the estate beside my mum and dad.FACT.he is also a big rangers fan, do u know anything about this ed.

{Ed010's Note - Nothing concrete on this one but I think that Rangers would be doing well if they managed to secure his services, bearing in mind that several EPL clubs have expressed an interest and we all know how much money they can offer.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Hello hello all, id be happy to see dorrans sign this summer imagine he would cost around £4m after this seasons injury problems.this would allow steve davis to move back to right midfield even tho he mite not want to!
what combo would you like to see in rangers centre midfield next season ed?

{Ed010's Note - Until we see who Ally brings in, that is an impossible question for me to give a definitive answer too but I just hope that they are out and out midfield players. Due to the past financial plight of our club, we ended up with many of our players playing in midfield positions to which they were not accustomed. While we got away with that in many of the games, we struggled badly, due to a lack of flair and creativity from the midfield, when we played some of the better European teams. That is not a slate on the players, who tried their hardest but there were games last season, when we looked as if we could have played all night and never scored.

Agree3 Disagree0

Yeah i agree, whittaker being a case in point.as for europe we struggled to retain the ball in the middle last season tho jelavic being able to play up front next season will be a bonus.just hope that with this being ally's first managers job he doesn't over pay for players if he has got £10m to spend.teams like porto and palmero signing up young players every season who do well and more often than not make them a tidy profit, this is a model that would keep us out of any more situations like we have been in the last couple of years.
anyone else got any midfield pairings they would like to see at ibrox next season?
p.s. good work ED always good to bounce ideas off someone with the most decorated club in the world at heart

ed, do you think a gattuso move would be likely?

{Ed010's Note - This is a difficult question to answer due to there being so many variables. At present Gattuso is 33 and has one year of his contract with AC Milan remaining. If he stays and sees out the final year of his contract, Milan will lose any potential transfer fee. If he stays, Gattuso will be assured of Champions League football for one more season but equally, he knows that the longer he remains with Milan, the shorter the length of contract, he will be offered by another club, as he will be 34 by the time he signs that new contract. Another reader posted that Gattuso apparently indicated that he was prepared to take a pay cut to sign for Rangers and if this is the case, I have no doubt that Ally would be interested in securing his services.

Agree1 Disagree2

I think mccgregor should be captain if Davie goes

Agree2 Disagree0

Edu better thanbig lee? you are mental mate. i don't like getting on players backs but for the majority of last season it was a relief when he got the basics right. gives the ball away far to easily, and at times it looked like he just couldnt turn. ness and hutton should be ahead of him in the pecking order next year imo

who would you like to see captain rangers next season ed or anyone else?

{Ed010's - If the position became vacant and just looking at the current players, not withstanding any player moving on, I would like to see either Madjid Bougherra or Steven Davis, installed as captain.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I would love to see rino gattuso, firstly move, and them be given the captaincy. i beleive he could be the influencial player rangers would need if davie weir retires.

Gennaro Gattuso wants a Rangers move this year after rejecting contract negotiations with AC Milan and also says he will take a 50% paycut currently on £45,000 a week at the Rossineri club! He wants to give the club at least three years of good football before hanging up his boots
Watch this space :-))

ed Do spurs really owe rangers 4.5mil and if they do y havnt they had it yet and have u heard oct bwt hutton comin back any info would be great and use are doin a grand job.
Ryan/casey

{Ed010's Note - Can't help you out with this one. In my experience, football clubs don't generally, advertise the payment structure of transfers. It is well known that most clubs don't pay the fee in a lump sum but do so in installments. If Rangers are owed money from any club, for any player, it is not outwith the realms of possibility that Rangers may be offered the player back, in order to wipe the slate clean. If you take Hutton as the example and lets say for the sake of arguement, that there is still that amount of money outstanding on the deal, then Rangers are in a Win Win situation. Do Rangers value Alan Hutton at £4,500,000, taking into account the current SPL financial situation ? If they do, they get a player that would enhance the squad, back through the door. If they don't, they could ask for their money and move on or they could tell Spurs, we'll take Hutton back and waive the remainder of the transfer fee but also ask to take a player on loan from Spurs as part of the agreement.

all i read in the papers these days are celtic linked with this player and tht player.what about rangers we are ment to be a club on the up looking for fresh blood but i hear nothing of it, mccoist can't afford to get caught napping when it comes to the transfer market what do u know or think ed?

{Ed010's Note -I don't think that Rangers, not being linked to transfer targets, is necessarily a bad thing. In the past, we have lost players to other clubs, when it was advertised that we were looking at a particular player. Also in the past, the price of potential signings has increased, when it became common knowledge that Rangers were interested.

Ally will have a list of potential targets and will be working hard in the background to secure the best players for our club.

i heard super allys list of targets are all british based players but with the news gattuso might not sign a new deal at milan he has to look at that as a big chance to get a world class player for free! any way getting back to the rumours the only rumour i have heard that might be true is that hutton is going back to rangers as spurs are looking at a brazilian RB? and as they still owe us 4.5M we won't need to pay a penny i hope this is true!

SPL Team outwith the Old Firm

I reckon we could poach a few of these players.
ed, do you think it would be worth our while?
with a transfer kitty of roughly £10m, i would hope that we especially take on Emerenko (1m), Conway (free), Goodwille (2m), Humphrey & Murphy (combined fee of 2m), Rooney (500k - 1m).
I think we have a quality first 11 as it is, yet I feel that if we want to repeat the success of this season we should really look into purchasing some more squad players such as Conway, Humphrey and Rooney. Goodwille and Emerenko would be more involved with the first team however.
Added to that we need a couple of centre backs. Hearing stuff about Berra, Evans and Cuellar. I reckon that the latter 2 are pure speculation - in saying that i would love to see Evans wearing a Ranges jersey!
what do you think ed?

{Ed010's Note -I have read your list of players and what it does prove, is that there are a few "diamonds" still out there, that wouldn't cost the earth. I have no doubt that Ally, Walter, Kenny and Durranty have been looking at closely at players like those who appear on your team sheet, over the past few months.

I personally would offer the opinion that Jamie Murphy, Chris Humphrey and Craig Conway would be good acquisitions and would offer us something different.

I also agree that we may need a quality centre back and maybe two if Bougherra moves on and David Weir retires. Carlos Cuellar and Johnny Evans would certainly come into that category but Berra, I'm not sure about.

Adam rooney won't come to Ibrox because he is IRISH

What about that motherwell winger humphrey (spelling) the sun reported that we were leading the chase? what do u think ed ?

{Ed010's Note -There is a story circulating that we are looking at Humphrey but we are not alone in that regard. There is supposed interest from 3 EPL teams, one of whom is Liverpool. Certainly, I have been impressed with the player and he has seering pace. We don't really have anyone in the squad with his sort of pace but he also brings scoring a few goals to the table.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

21 May 2011 15:54:20
hey ed
i was just wondering what you thoughts were on buying like-for-like players to cover for the key players we already have (for example- a player to cover for central midfielders such as murray davidson) or a completely different player who will bring something different to the team such as eremenko who will tend to play in a bit more of a selfish free-role which other rangers players don't currently do.

{Ed010's Note - Good question. I personally think that every successful team requires a minimum of two players for every position. What Ally has to balance is bringing in players that complement the players already here and at the same time, allow the youngsters from Murray Park, their opportunity, many of whom would never have been given the chance, if it was not for our previous financial situation.

Ally needs to improve and add to our squad but only with players, that are better than what we already have. Players like Davidson and Eremenko certainly have the talent to impress during some matches in the SPL but do they have what it takes to perform week in and week out. That is the million dollar question that Ally needs to answer before making a move for any potential target.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Thanks for the reply
i agree and think there needs to be a balance between versatile players and players who specialise in one position. i feel that the current rangers squad has that but maybe one more flamboyant player like eremenko, templeton or even weiss but i doubt he will return

Agree1 Disagree0

In my honest opinion . . If ( big IF ) rangers have 10million to spend this summer . . i would honestly just buy 2 first team regulars . . maybe 4 million a peice , then buy whoever he feels is best for 2million.

We defo need another CB if Bartley aint coming back on loan. (Hope we get Cuellar back tbh) maybe get a CB from a relegated EPL side (Roger Johnson etc)

If we bring in 2 or 3 top quality players , and use the academy as fringe players , i can see Rangers dominating Scottish football for many years , maybe even eclipse 9 in a row.

Gattuso Agent has stated that Gattuso will not sign a new deal and will never sign for serie A team only concrete interest has been from russian team what do you think of the chances of him coming back to the gers Ed

i hope he remembers he has unfinished business in glasgow and if he is ever gona come back this would be the best time to do it as its the dawn of a new horizon

Tonydom

{Ed010's Note -Gattuso has always professed his love for the Rangers fans and for Rangers as a club. As you say, he has also stated that he feels that he has unfinished business at Rangers and has has always went on record that he would love to come back. I believe that he did have a problem with Mr Murray that was always going to prevent his return but with Mr Whye now in charge, that obstacle has been removed. That leaves the door open if he wants to come and if Ally wants him. Maybe we should hope that Mrs Gattuso is nipping his ear about returning to Scotland.

Few words from Rino Gattuso

"I won't go at 35 or 36, I'll go when I've still got something to offer them, at European level as well as Scottish.

"When I left Glasgow, it wasn't through the main door, I was forced to flee almost like some sort of thief, at four in the morning. That's stuck in my throat since.

"I'm a player who wants people to see how much I put into things, not someone who just runs away in the night.

"I've got a debt towards Rangers fans because of the way I left. They helped me get where I am. I just have to go back."

Now saying that . hes 33 atm . . could this be the summer he returns ??

On the other hand , he met David Murray last summer and it was him that he made the promise to . now that Murray is out the picture , could this scarper the deal ??

Ally must have skills. I mean being in america/Canada the coming home to Glasgow then going back out there
Doubt it pal

I did not post this but did the mccoist and co not fly back yesterday? By the way i don't think the mark noble deal is true or any player from west ham because the wages of these players are too high for rangers and the greed in the english game means no player will come to scotland for less money.

another jog down memory lane for my fellow bears and this could be good news for us doing a title run

the last time we ever won 3 in a row we went on to do 9 in a row now that is a good sign for us fellow bears

ScottTheBlueNose

Celtic won three league titles in a row under Strachan and look how that turned out; We may have been bought over but we have no financial muscle and are not necessarily a strong team.

Jock Stein said it and Walter Smith also said it, it will not happen again. A team will not win 9 league titles in a row. The rangers team of the 90's proved Jock Stein wrong, but personally I cannot see it happening again. Celtic at present are not weak, like they were in the early nighties, and will do everything to stop Rangers winning 4 in a row! Rangers fans cannot get ahead of themselves. They may be able to buy players, but only those within a particular budget. 9 in a row will not happen.
