I want gary monk. our saviou. or at best big eck will swoop in and save us. We are in a mess. Big eck was great with a budget, gash without. Monk is never going to leave for us. de boer is a bigger pie in the sky than monk. We really need to be realistic here. We are not the team we were. We may one day be fortunate enough to get back there but the club is rotten from top to bottom. We need to change the whole club. not just the manager and the team. The way we scout, the way we train, the way we do deals, the way we do everything. I love rangers but we really need wholesale change. In my opinion.

21 Feb 2017 20:56:24
Walter Smith will come in and take charge of the team through to the end of the season and then the new manager will be Garry Monk initial talks have already taken place with Leeds and from what i have been told it all hinges on if Leeds are promoted to the E. P. L or not. Also talks have taken place with Ross Wilson of Southampton and more talks are planned. This is information i have heard and i work at Murray Park with the Youth Teams. I may well turn out to be wrong and will be prepared to take it on the chin if i am.

21 Feb 2017 23:20:12
Keep on saying this leave Walter and Souness out of it they have done there bit let them enjoy there retirement and Souness is not a well man!

21 Feb 2017 23:25:22
Gary Rowett must be interviewed. he did well at Birmingham with a team badly struggling and got them close to play off places. the owners ther must be wondering why they brought in Zola who can't seem to win a game and team going backwards again and possibly heading for relegation.

21 Feb 2017 23:33:42
bongo, where did i mention Souness? and all i said is that i had heard information that Walter Smith was being brought in until the end of the season, until a new man is brought in and that man i am led to believe is going to be Gary Monk.

Walter Smith loves rangers and in our current situation i am sure he would do anything to help ensure we finish second and get European football next season.

22 Feb 2017 06:32:24
You didn't but others have along with Walter all I'm saying is these guys have done there bit for us, leave them alone Christ the Rangers job age the both of them they don't need the hassle that comes with this job!

22 Feb 2017 11:04:19
I noticed that Lambias was having his say on what Rangers need and slating DK, I think we should all remember the depths him and his mates and his BOSS Cashley took Rangers to, remember the loan deals forced on us for 5 players from NU paying wages for 4 unfit players and the Sports Direct merchandise rip-off
I suspect there is a strategy beginning here from those rats to destabilise the club further than we are already are and for the Fat Rat to try and gain control once again. As a club we are in a terrible state but if that load of rats get their nose in the trough again we will be even worse. No matter what clowns like Provan say the fat controller has no interest in helping Rangers into a better place, just bleeding us dry even more.

22 Feb 2017 17:13:04
I'm pretty sure I read Rowatt was bagged because he wouldn't commit long term. Do we want someone like that again?

22 Feb 2017 21:11:13
You've got the scoop on wilson. Not as if it's been in all the papers and tv about him being interviewed lol

22 Feb 2017 21:28:51
Wall84 you say be realistic but you mention a saviour, don't you get it there is none. We are done there is no quick fix, the rangers we grew up with the amazing players the mega bucks that's finished, we are in financial ruin no hope of investment cause there is no turnaround for investors not while ashley is still robbing us.

22 Feb 2017 22:16:48
jamesreilly09,i really do hope you're right regarding garry monk becoming our new manager! I don't care if we have to wait on monk, until the end of the season! For the right appointment, we may have to wait and IMHO garry monk would be a superb choice as our next manager! He's the type of coach, that would be worth waiting for, without question! Its too good to be true though, but we can only hope, that our board can pull out all the stops, and get monk to ibrox! I still have my doubts though, that monk will come to us! Hope i'm wrong!

22 Feb 2017 23:03:07
Wall84 we believed these issues would all be taken care of with the appointment of our previous manager. Turned out he was the amateur I said he was.

23 Feb 2017 08:05:40
Smith isn't interested, and didn't he need big budgets to compete, why spoil his reputation with a bunch of duds, and chairman and directors who sack managers then release they've resigned, and if I remember he didn't like the way mccoist was treated

21 Feb 2017 20:23:10
I know a lot of the guys on here don't fancy him for whatever reason, but I really think that out all the so called options the best guy for the job would be Billy Davies! Reasons are:- a) He is available at a price we can afford, b) He is available to start work now. c) He appears to take no prisoners and will not be messed about by players or Directors, d) And finally, by all accounts he is good. That's it for me guys, any thoughts?

21 Feb 2017 20:54:01
Totally agree

21 Feb 2017 21:26:53
If Billy Davies is so good why has no other club came in for him?

As for he won't be messed about by directors, well, I agree. That's why he can't seem to last long in any job.

We must look set our sights higher.

21 Feb 2017 22:36:01
Well Naz, I said by all accounts he is good. I take it you've probably not played for him? He is so good because people that have played for him say he is. so I am baseing my choice on their experience.

22 Feb 2017 17:13:42
Too much baggage.

22 Feb 2017 23:02:09
The day the allegations came out about Davies relationship with the pace of filth that is Tommy Sheridan was the day he ruined his chances of managing any club that has any self respect. If you sleep with dogs you get fleas! Rangers have had enough problems given the folks that they have associated themselves with recently, adding to that would makes us an even bigger laughing stock!

22 Feb 2017 21:49:18
Think he is worth a shot till the end of the season and then take it from there

22 Feb 2017 22:19:32
Because he gets bad mouthed in england for his spat with the forest chairman! He's made out to be the ogre which isn't true! Mcdermott of the daily record told you as much, in his recent interview regarding billy davies!

22 Feb 2017 23:07:38
@dunbarblue - in reply to the above,
A/ I'm assuming he is going to work for free?
B/ Nobody else wants him!
C/ He fell out with directors at Forest and Derby and ended up getting the sack or leaving so fat lot of good your point is.
D/ And finally he would have to bring his mucker Tommy Sheridan with him as assistant. All the football would be played down the left but seemingly the nights out would be interesting!
Sorry not for me, too much baggage.

23 Feb 2017 07:06:25
What I don't get about all this shambles that's going on is how can a club like ours have a manager "resign" or be "sacked "whatever it was that happened, a blind man could see something was going to happen before the end of the season and yet we don't have anyone in place to take over to steady the ship till the end of the season instead we have to promote the u20s coach, again its us fans who pay our hard earned cash and just get fobbed off all the time, I really thought we were getting away from all the crap we have been through in the last 5 years but yet again we have been mismanaged and this time it's looking we will struggle to get out of this hole for a while yet, we are a mess from top to bottom. rant over!

23 Feb 2017 10:49:23
billy davies doesn't take crap from directors how long do u think he would last in this job? seriously the board will not back the next manager with money as we have none and if we do back a manager and they don't do well then we will be loking at admnistration

21 Feb 2017 18:24:39
Guys forget De Boer he would want a big salary and more than a few million to gut the squad. I seriously can't see this happening during the Ashley years.
We need a manager who can improve the players we already have and add a few players who won't cost much cash. Who that is I dunno but seriously hope it's not a Davies, McLeish or any of the other names who can't get a job at the moment.

23 Feb 2017 10:51:18
that ashley deal recieved its notice what two years ago which gives us fives years to go and i'm afraid that we won't last that long as a club if we keep going down the raod we are on

21 Feb 2017 17:55:17
Love this someone was spotted at ibrox stuff even tho interviews are taking place in london

22 Feb 2017 23:08:25
Dead on, Neldo, anyone spotted at Ibrox is certainly NOT getting the job. I hope wee Davies appears at the door tomorrow hand in hand with Wright and McInnes.

21 Feb 2017 16:59:50
surely frank de boer has to be next long term manager. he has won four Dutch league titles in a row.

he also knows how to play 433 formation properly, the formation our players have been playing badly for 18 months.

23 Feb 2017 10:53:23
the formation wqsnt the problem it was the players being unable to adapt to playing defensively.
i still think 4-1-2-1-2 is the best formation for attacking and being defensive but that's just my opinion

21 Feb 2017 15:54:10
If the rumours are true that Murty will be in charge until the end of the season, that tells me the board have already given up on second place. I appreciate the guy has been thrown in at the deep end but he clearly has no respect from the players as people were laughing and joking on the bench when we were 2-0 down. You don't need millions of pounds to buy determination. Get your finger out king and co!

21 Feb 2017 17:38:14
Tell you what. They 2 sitting laughing on the bench at 2.0 down would not be in my squad this Friday night. Only thing is its extra money getting interim manager in till end of season then getting a new man in again. Do you think anyone can improve these players.

22 Feb 2017 16:33:10
According to murty we run the dundee defence ragged! That tumble he took on Sunday must of effected him.

22 Feb 2017 21:53:41
Never mind second we are in a battle to be in the top 4. A 5th place finish would rob us of 2 or 4 games in Europe before we go out. Think we need someone else in as Murty clearly doesn't want the job

21 Feb 2017 14:29:31
Next season will be a massive clear out of the team obviously.
Will be a massive task for whoever comes in, the gap won't be as big next season but we will get there.
DeBear would be my first choice he'll build a class team for us.
But for this season I've no idea who can get us out this mess.
That game against Dundee was absolutely garbage. Every player was horrendous.
Can't wait to get Jak in the sticks he's a great goalie. Wes had done good for us but again total bomb scare as is Kiernan, my god he's brutal.
The players we have signed under Warbs were all just Scottish Championship quality. And a lot of them where on deals I think just for that season. Should never of been offered longer. It shows this season they were never good enough for this league.
Now the new gaffer has to build a complete new team from scratch, and what's expected of him will be so difficult.
Players I think to get heave ho is,
Tav.
Kiernan.
Hodgson.
Halliday.
Holt.
Forrester.
Waghorn.
Hill.
And the 2 boys on loan obviously won't be back.
Least in the roumor page I've no heard any mention of new manager to be Bob Bradley or Roy Hodgson lol.
We will be back at the top, just going to take time and a whole lot of work. But we'll be back where we belong.
As the greatest fans in the world we'll always do our part.

21 Feb 2017 15:02:50
jimbo, you better hope the above mentioned are out of contract because I can't see anyone buying them or paying the wages they are getting the now. maybe admin is the only way to get rid of all these players?

21 Feb 2017 15:20:44
That's very true, maybe if Warbutton gets a job down south he can take them off our hands.
He'll be in for McKay that's for sure.
I am positive a few will be off our hands.

21 Feb 2017 15:30:30
I fully agree that we need a clear out of a good number of players but there will be 2 major issues to overcome first.
1. I don't think the players will have a number of clubs trying to get them in the summer as everyone has seen this season how bad they are.
2. We can't afford to bring in players to replace the outgoing lot unless we essentially do what Warbuton has done before in getting free or cheap players.

Either way its going to cost money which we just don't have unless a lot of money gets invested (cant see that happening) or we get rid of Ashley (cant see that happening either) .

21 Feb 2017 15:43:35
Lance Armstrong. I don't know if your comment about admin was tongue-in-cheek or serious but here's a thing. What if Rangers were to go into administration at the end of this season if cash flow isn't good and we don't qualify for Europe? Would that get rid of fat cat Ashley once and for all and be more likely to attract new investors? Sadly, King and co could kiss goodbye to their investments (again) . I wouldn't want admin, just a question really because who knows.

21 Feb 2017 17:26:09
Doiger. It was tongue n cheek mate. I keep hearing the word administration being spoke about more and more and that's not just from celtic fans
Im not that clever with the business side of things so I don't know if that would get rid of Ashley. I hope for the sake of Scottish football that something positive happens with rangers. To the celtic fans out there then you won't keep Rodgers or Sinclair or attract players if rangers don't improve or go under.

22 Feb 2017 14:49:13
And how are we going to get rid of all those players?

22 Feb 2017 15:59:54
I wouldn't rule some players staying. Waghorn. Holt, Hodson potentially. Some managers can get more out of players Waghorn has already indicated that some players were unsure of Warburtons constant changing.

No change however since Murty took charge still the same old sh*te!

22 Feb 2017 16:21:35
the stubborn 4-3-3 got warbs the sack and i think we have an okay squad but need maybe another 4 really good players in the team to make it click.

i think under good managment players like holt and forrester and even tav is i'm my opinion a good player but his confidence has been kocked.
he is strong fast and has a good touch but going forward has cost him too many times for some of us to forgive, however i think under good guidence from a good manager we would have a gem on our hands.

players like halliday as much as i love the fact he is rangers through and through just don't do enough i the middle of the park and are being beaten to every first and second ball in the middle of the park.

21 Feb 2017 14:04:00
Not a rumour or any chance of happening to be fair but I would love to see a manager like Eddie Howe from Bournemouth. Think he'll be a top manager in England for a long time. Thoughts?

21 Feb 2017 14:53:15
He is a class manager. Reckon he'd be a good fit for Arsenal when Wenger leaves.

22 Feb 2017 23:11:41
Howe is earmarked for Arsenal then England. Unless he makes a right mess of it, his career is already mapped out.

21 Feb 2017 13:45:02
What are your opinions on Frank de Boer? Undoubted talent as a player a legend in dutch football and manged a good ajax side! (Not going to judge him at inter they were in turmoil) What i'd like to know is do you guys think he would adapt to managing on a small budget!? Or change his total football philosophy when needed to win games!? Imo you need top drawer players to play this kind of football!? Every coach has a way of playing but we need someone who knows how to mix it up and win ugly when needed, not sure de boer is that type of guy!

21 Feb 2017 18:20:36
He was working on a budget in holland ( not as small as he would have with us ) but he developed and played youngsters.

22 Feb 2017 14:17:35
I would like Henning Berg.

22 Feb 2017 14:37:57
Surely it would make more sense to judge him on his time at Inter than his time at Ajax given that it would be closer to what he would have to deal with at Ibrox. He won't be inheriting a good side.

22 Feb 2017 14:50:25
I don't think he is either to be fair. Billy Davies for me

22 Feb 2017 16:23:38
listen any manager coming in can't be blamed for anything if the don't have a good kitty to try and close the gap.

21 Feb 2017 10:37:53
I think warbs' plan was to have barton and rossitor in midfield breaking up opposition attacks then recycling the ball into wide areas - this could have worked a treat if Barton wasnt a nob and rossitor wasnt injured all the time.

21 Feb 2017 12:21:54
Could've worked if Warburton had good man management. Maybe Barton was in the right and Warburton was the nob?

21 Feb 2017 13:04:13
I think I read somewhere that Rossiter should be back in training on the 12th.

21 Feb 2017 13:27:37
Yes to an extent we have been unfortunate this season, rossiter barton and niko would have been a perfect midfield trio. And I think windass and crooks will come good. These players haven't featured, but on the other hand niko deal should have been sealed quicker giving him more of a pre season same goes for barton (time off for book launches etc) if these guys all started the season in tip top shape maybe we would have the problems we have now. Warburton really did get found out, barton is a twat but if warburton had put him in his place from the day he signed he would have been a great player for us. Shouting his mouth off in papers and social media should have been nipped in bud from day one, he should have been told your here to play football go and prove how good you are, but it never was addressed and barton became too big for his boots!

22 Feb 2017 16:30:33
no one has been able to shu him up so that's not warbs fault barton is a knob!
and rossiter has been out for way too long i think he will be like that for the duration of his contract here. hope not but the way its happened tells me there is more to it than that!

only way we will challange celtic is if we get a big investment.

come on guys wish me luck with the euro millions i promise i'd buy the rangers and invest heavily into the playing squad

21 Feb 2017 09:42:27
What are fellow Bears' thoughts on reports that Alan Irvine is being touted as a possible new manager? Don't know that much about him other than ex-West Brom manager but he doesn't seem to have a great CV. Also, do you think we will or shoud go for McInnes or Wright?

21 Feb 2017 10:42:43
New reports saying Rangers aren't even considering him. That'll be the end of that one, thankfully.

22 Feb 2017 14:15:50
I know his brother, no truth in that whatsoever.

22 Feb 2017 16:42:26
id like mcinnes in for us he has great man management skills and would put us above the rest and he would do untill we got the fat rats contracts out of the way

21 Feb 2017 08:57:28
Hopefully mcleish till the end of the season finish second then de boer in summer that would be brilliant.

22 Feb 2017 09:48:32
No decent manager would entertain us while we are in this state in my opinion unless they are garunteed a decent amount of money to try and sort this shambles out, I just can't see us getting serious investment for a while to come yet but hopefully I am proved wrong because this is heartbreaking to see our team go through this crap again

22 Feb 2017 10:44:14
That would be my preference tbh, but doubt if it will happen. No pot to pass in or I'm sure an interim manager would have been in place by now. Murty is not the answer and it's not his fault. If you think he's like a rabbit caught in the headlights just now, imagine what he'd look like walking out at Parkhead in a couple of weeks' time.

21 Feb 2017 03:12:42
Why was Warburton allowed to bring in umpteen attack minded players and 2 defensive midfielder 1 was injured and one a whaloper.

22 Feb 2017 08:20:10
The waloper as you put it is playing in the most competitive league in the world and doing very well. And the injured 1 played all summer for England u19 as there captain. Let's get something straight here barton was shown the door for basically telling haliday a few home truths which have been proven to be true. I think we got rid of The wrong 1

22 Feb 2017 23:14:04
Because he was the manager?
