So he thinks we should sign more players what a typical statement from one of the jobs for the boys squad in the situation were in. How's about we take a few steps back and start walking before we can run. Get rid of the deadwood because there's plenty & set up a decent scouting system try bleed in another few youngsters with a cut wage bill it is beyond rediculous the way some people think this club can be run.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How do you get rid of the deadwood when they have contracts?

Agree0 Disagree0

Make cuts aand pay them up u don't have to be einstein to work that out

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 what with?? Maybe you don't know but Rangers are skint and had to get a crisis loan just to stay afloat. The ignorance of people on here is staggering!

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 ok Einstein tell me who u would pay off, how much that would cost and what cuts would u make to pay for it

Agree0 Disagree0

Still waiting!

Agree0 Disagree0

Reduce coaching overheads if that can't be done reduce coaches cut down the amount of kit men not j bell at somerset park I could not beleive the amount of non playing non coaching staff cut directors renumeration sack nasty media guru (think his name is is irvine he as 200k) pay up the hopless and the happles contracts an get rid there wages are all ready in the budget u are only paying them early and u won't have to pay them full year they will get other club send some out on loan to get some of there wagessack ally bring somebody in on a reasonable salary (lennon only paid 7k) and fact the rest of the bus sheltter along wi him wallace was only looking for 15%cut all this would achieve that and more leaving money available for couple of signings make no mistake the cuts must be brutal but necessary

Agree0 Disagree0

@6 if you honestly think that is going to happen then u r indulging in fantasy football. Agree Ally should go but he would cost a years salary to get rid of, as for paying up the hopeless players they would get a full years wage paid to them in the same way Goian was paid this years salary. Anyone u try and get rid of will want their full salary paid and legally they are entitled to it. Just remember what happened with Bobo Balde. Don't get me wrong I agree with u however in reality it would cost more than Rangers could afford to pay

Agree0 Disagree0

You didnae have to wait that long?

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way stewie u talk about ignorance its u that does not understand how it works the player who u are paying up his contract is already in the budget u do a deal to release him which is obviosly less than he would get by waiting his term out and he does not necesarily get paid in a lump sum it can be monthly or in tranches or he can go to another club and we pick up part of his wages this can happen either way

Agree0 Disagree0

Bobo balde was the exception because he would not take any less and celtic took the decision that if he would not take a deal they would just let him sit and froze him very rarely do players who leave as they say by mutual consent to they get full amount

I'm a big fan of Derek Johntone's analysis of football and of Rangers. He has a phenomenal football brain but I was surprised to read this morning that he said we cannot go into the Championship, a full time league, with the same players we have this season

Of course it will be trickier but in many ways a better league to play in with more teams prepared to set out an attacking formation. That will suit us better.

With the squad we've got and Murray Park, we'll still win it by more than 20 points. However, if we can get good young players in on free transfers and offload a few who's contracts are up, then yeah he's got a point. All about the money which we don't have.

@kfraser I'm a Celtic fan! I too listened to big dj! Personally I think there is a lot of time he will not here a bad word against rangers and spits the dummy! That said frank mcavenie and andy walker are the same about Celtic so only backing there clubs! Big dj's point was advocatt had Murray park as part of his contract to take over as rangers manager! Honestly now? Who was that last real talent produced at Murray park?and before the abuse Celtic are not much better! Apart from mcgeady we have produced no player worth any significant value! In my opinion dj was suggesting rangers can't rely on talent from Murray park, and the funds are going to dictate wether the 1 or 2 players needed to step up to a full time league!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lewis McLeod, Fraser Aird & Robbie Crawford I would class as really good products of Murray park I think McLeod and Aird will feature strongly for Scotland in the future and before any of you say Aird's Canadian he's dual national and already picked Scotland over Canada at under 17 level.

Used to be a big fan of DJ myself but let's face it it's not so long ago he was still praising Charles Green for delivering on almost everything he promised to deliver.

Would love to phone up Clyde and ask how often he has contact with a figure employed by the club who made a very snide comment about the greatest ever Ranger.

Agree0 Disagree0

KF - where can I find DJ's interview

I have a lot of time for the big yin and I am glad he is still involved aith the club

as a commentator on RTV every week he watches every game

If there is no talent at murray park thenthere has to be a cull and get fresh talent in as far as next season goes there definetly has to be a parting of the ways for some if it only needs a 15% cut in playing staff wages that is easily done and abit more which would allow a couple of players in there is plenty of scope for either a cut in wages or reduced no for coaching staff we have a chance to now to get outgoings to match income get everyone pulling in the right direction we are probably stuck wi ally due to the terms of his contract (that he has never read ) there is no chance o administration now what we have to do is be more positive no more doom and gloom smokey and the bandits will run its cours to when they get offers for their shares they will take the money and run away the club not being run prudently does not suit them either because the only way they will make real money if they are selling shares in a successful club and as far as dave king douglas park paul murray macoll instead of sabre rattleing and trying to get club for nothing hold talks with all the fractions of supporters and find a way forward instead of spouting they will buy any amount of shares for twenty pence if the situation was reversed they would not accept a bad offer so let's dispel doom give g wallace and present board to sort things and a strategy to gey rid of smokey and the bandits upwards and onwards because it ain't all sweetness an light at parkhead

Agree0 Disagree0

@5 is mccoist not on 1 yr rolling contract which the club don't need to renew so we're not stuck with him and also the players wage bill is less than 30% of income that comes in it's the muppets with the suits that should be taking wage cut or they should gtf

Agree0 Disagree0

@3 I was waiting for a comment like that?

@5 are the under 20, s not top of their league right now? would that not indicate that there may be some young guys with potential makiing up that squad?

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 how can you class Crawford as a success? He has hardly played! Also none of these players have played in the top league and none have been sold for money. Think McLeod has potential but don't get carried away when in reality these boys have done very little

Agree0 Disagree0

@6 he is on a rolling contract but I am sure that if Rangers got rid of him it would cost a years salary. Maybe I am wrong though

Agree0 Disagree0

The players wage bill may be 30%of income what will income be next season if u want add players in the summer there must be cuts to what is there we will be champioship next year so we must live on the money earned the wages paid to coaching staff are far to high lennon is on afraction of allys money which has been only deffered to be paid at some stage later if everybody connected to the club whether supporters coaches players staff etc don't wake up and smell the coffe it wil be a long hard road there is agreat oppertunity to get back into theb top league without a lot of bebt but the reality check must start now with g wallace leading the charge because I think he is capable if given the proper coperation he is the man for the job but he needs help from everyone

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree ther players in under twentys who have potential but they won't realise it unless they are given chance in top but they are some that won't now is the time to sort it because next season team will have its work cut out to get promoted again so what's left of this season must be used to see what ones will do and who won't its only common sense to try them now

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you'll find according to last years figures, the playing staff wages was 40 percent of income (turn over £19. 1 m, and players wages £7. 7 m)

Agree0 Disagree0

The players only use up 30 pc its the board and the coaching staff that need there wages cut and just to think there were people willing to come in and run the club for free yet the millionairs running the goldmine won't even consider taking a pay cut no they want to lend for more shares they should not be lending its there job to make sure there is enough money must be they never invested enough

OP you've changed your tune kfraser. For months and months you've been on here shooting down anyone who dared to be concerned about the finances, calling them "anti ally" and saying they should "just trust the board and ally and get behind the team and just shut up you moaners everything will be just fine we are the great glasgow rangers. " Now its "all about the money we don't have" is it? Thanks for that blinding insight. Reality finally getting through?

Agree0 Disagree0

@12 that's last years figures mate but thanks for your input it's been well documented that the players wage bill is only 30 % of income also since your good with figures what percentage did the suits get

Agree0 Disagree0

@15, yes that's last year figures, and we won't know this years figures until they're published, but I forgot the ones in charge are so honest we can believe everything they say, face facts wage bill has increased from last year, and turnover won't have increased much, so not being a smart @rse, simple arithmetic.
