Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

Good teams win playing poor and we have done just that against well and Dundee. Once MW works out his best 11 and were more penetrative from midfield we will score more and hopefully cancel out our shocking defence. We need a plan B and in dodoo, MOH and forester we can play different football by knocking balls into channels to be ran at. Garner may score goals we shall wait and see. McKay needs to be on his toes as many more below par games and he will surely be benched.

21 Aug 2016 18:46:01
Tavernier improved defensively with competition from Hodson.

McKay will hopefully improve his attacking play with competition from Windass.

But Garner will definitely score goals in this team.

Just need the defence sorted.

21 Aug 2016 19:06:02
Think Wilson is up for the challenge and was better yesterday. Dodoo needs to start games and yes we need greater variation in our play.

21 Aug 2016 19:06:36
The ability to grind out a win from nothing is the mark of champions people, it can't always be sunshine and light!

If we beat celtic in the last minute after being bombarded! I'll take that all day.

21 Aug 2016 19:53:13
Do like Wilson. Was really happy when we got him.

Last season was difficult for him but want him to play alongside Senderos against Kilmarnock.

Expect Warburton will stick with Keirnan and Wilson though.

21 Aug 2016 20:12:04
Kranjcar provided the guile to open up Motherwell. He will not get the time on the ball he was used to but adapt to Scottish football he will. Wilson had one of his better games for Rangers while I think Barry's position could be in doubt if everybody is fit. We will have a bit more variety up front now with Dodoo and Garner in the squad but we must be realistic about or chances of winning the league. We must be 2nd favourites for the league but who would have thought that two years ago. Another three points would be most welcome on Friday against a team that must be considered relegation material.

21 Aug 2016 20:48:03
I must admit I am not looking forward to Sinclair and Forrest running at our full backs and Griffiths and Rogic running at our centre backs.

21 Aug 2016 20:53:33
Thorn76

I don't think Senderos has played any football for a while so can't see him being match fit for a good few weeks. I doubt he would be fit for the old firm game let alone the Killie one.

21 Aug 2016 21:37:43
Windass even after only a handful of games has been missed with his direct running and attacking mindset. Really looking fwd to him coming back into the team and from what I'm hearing Crooks is going to surprise a few with his athleticism and all round play, fling Rossiter into the mix and the exp of Barton and we have a solid and varied engine room. With a CB coming in and new striker things r looking good with competition all over. Winning while not looking great is still points in the bag! Be patient guys.

21 Aug 2016 22:19:11
if forrest and rogic frighten our back four we are worse than I realise because they are far below through calibre rangers and celtic should have.

22 Aug 2016 08:12:10
Got to say, I really admire your positive thinking đź‘Ť.

22 Aug 2016 13:37:45
I agree with you cee, when guys like Grithiffs are the main striker with Celtic, it shows you the quality they don't have. Back in the day, Darren Jackson would have kept him out of the team. I can't take anyone seriously who has bum hair on their head.

22 Aug 2016 15:00:36
As much as it pains me - Celtic have far more quality than we do. Any gers fan that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

22 Aug 2016 15:10:29
Bluenose u are right good teams do win when their playing badly and are the mark of champions, so what happened with Accies.
Cuillin there is something seriously wrong with your football knowledge if u don't rate Griffiths. Just because u don't like him doesn't mean u can't appreciate a good player.
I remember well the days of Larsson and even then your fans were saying he cudnt cut it at the top level, how did that pan out lol. Not saying LG is as good as Larsson just comparing.

22 Aug 2016 15:13:33
Also cuillin a lot of fans on here saying how good Garner is and how he would have finished off the chances u made.
Laffable really because like me I bet 99% of them have never seen him play and only seen him on youtube lol.
He could be good he could be average he could be rubbish, the fact is we don't KNOW as he not played yet.

22 Aug 2016 16:05:37
cant believe some people on here barr McKay is one of the first names on the team sheet for me he had a below par game as does everyone but for me he is still our top player and the most talented in our squad why would anyone chose anyone other that McKay and who in our squad do u think is better seriously guys first tav was being slagged off by his own fans and now McKay is being doubted.
acting like a bunch of spoiled brats if u ask me.
McKay is one of those players that can have a off day and in a ten min spell produce 2 assists and a goal nobody else we have has his tallent.

22 Aug 2016 17:47:01
No issue with Tav but Mckay is not underrated! He goes missing when needed and has zero end product. It's not about being spoiled or not supporting the players, it's about a player on good wages under-performing on a worryingly consistent basis!

21 Aug 2016 20:40:35
We need to get the pace back into the team.

21 Aug 2016 16:31:45
It would be good if we made another signing preferably a defensive one but we would only be able to sign one on a free transfer because I think our transfer budget is low and we could only pay wages.

21 Aug 2016 16:45:32
Thinking that before Garner signed.

Probably will be Senderos. Still a chance we might get someone else in instead.

Sure we'll hear tomorrow either way.

21 Aug 2016 16:55:09
If we sign Senderos we will have three left sided Centre Backs in the squad the other two being Hill and Wilson.
We need a right sided CB, and surely we could get one in on loan with the contacts McParland and Warbs have down South.

21 Aug 2016 17:08:06
efe is for sale copland ;)

21 Aug 2016 17:25:43
Hull aren't in for Mariappa.

Would be ideal if we'd go in for him again.

Would top the Lescott and Senderos options.

21 Aug 2016 17:29:33
Efe's S*** boywonder, he's in a S*** team aswell so fook that.

21 Aug 2016 17:37:52
I think crooks could be looking to play at centre half I can't see anyone shifting rossister from his role unless he injured or suspended.

21 Aug 2016 17:49:50
Was thinking the same about Crooks.

At the start of the season I'd have been surprised if Crooks could get in the team and get a run of games, especially at defensive midfield.

But we haven't strengthened the central defence as much as we'd like at this stage. Crooks might just need to step up and play so to speak. Regardless of where our manager decides to play him.

21 Aug 2016 19:16:38
Could be, really looking forward to seeing Crooks. Surely he must be getting run outs in development games this week.

21 Aug 2016 19:22:08
Senderos is right footed.

21 Aug 2016 21:09:33
Ryan said that weeks ago, big lad 6ft 4, watched a lot of him when I heard we were interested, reads the game well, good in the air, can pick a pass and can score .
SPL will be a big step up for the lad but what I've seen think he will relish it .
Voted in the championship team of the year alongside Josh Windass .

21 Aug 2016 21:13:11
Is he?
Still prefer a CB with a bit of pace and probably Senderos is a few weeks away from being match fit.

21 Aug 2016 22:17:07
Come on biffo!
- Another 3 guys backing Crooks? tell them he's not worth a first team place yet - or maybe I'm making things up again.

22 Aug 2016 15:03:04
Crooks will be world footballer of the year - so think some fans, even though he's yet to lick a ball.

22 Aug 2016 15:46:22
The worrying thing is Efe Ambrose would actually get a game for us just now, which says it all.

22 Aug 2016 16:11:46
Mr nice for once i'd like to see u write something good about our great team and the great work our management and board have done to bring us this far.
but all I ever see is u slating mr king and saying players aren't good enough yes we all know our defence is rubbish but what about all the other great work we have done all the good signings we have made.

21 Aug 2016 15:31:05
REALITY CHECK: we won't win the league----celtic will----we have to walk before we run imo---ill take second and the Europa next season and win the league the year after----anything more than that is a bonus---BABY STEPS BEARS.

21 Aug 2016 16:26:08
We've got seven points from three games and have played poorly throughout all three, with maybe a decent 50 minutes out of the 270 played.

Yet we've still got seven points, not nearly reaching our full potential. Windass, Waghorn, Holt, Crooks and Garner still to come back. That's five players who are for the most first team players.

If anyone thinks this group is going to accept anything other than first place, they're having a laugh.

21 Aug 2016 16:49:23
I agree Thorn, I think with the improved squad and options in every position, there is no reason we can't mount a serious challenge this season. Remember the other lot are experiencing a honeymoon period just now. They have some quality in their side but the team is largely made up of wee Ronny's choices. Rodgers has a habit of hitting the road running but will invariably eff it up through arrogance and poor man management skills. They have had a good start but we are top (albeit having played a game more) . If we can stay with them over the next 2 or 3 months and they start to drop some points (which they will), then we'll see what they are made of. If Rodgers starts to crack due to either pressure from Liewell or their support, or both, I'm sure he will take it out on the players. The result will be the loss of the dressing room a la Liverpool and when that happens it's always a slippery slope. We might not be the best Rangers squad of all time, but what we do have is fitness, loyalty and team spirit. I also agree that 2nd place would not be a disaster this season given where we've been recently, but I have a feeling we just might upset their apple cart. Number 55 would be fantastic!

21 Aug 2016 17:40:19
Agree with what your saying about Celtic and Rodgers.

Just remember how quickly the media went ape after the defeat to Lincoln Red Imps. Everyone and their brother was having a go at Celtic. And two of their most influential players were playing in that game, Griffiths and Dembele.

The media is fickle as f### in this country. One draw from that mob and the media will pounce like wild animals. Can't wait.

We honestly fearing a mob that got beat off a team from Gibraltar. Gee us peace.

21 Aug 2016 17:59:32
celtic fans and players think they are something special and it may be there undoing.

21 Aug 2016 20:33:35
wise words Cee, it is often the case that the unraveling of a person begins when they start to believe their own hype.

21 Aug 2016 21:41:25
Celtic are playing good stuff at the minute and we haven't reached expectations. We will come good and play much better and I reckon Celtic will drop points after Euro games and pick up the odd injury or 2 due to ball chasing. We are top of the league and welcome the chase.

22 Aug 2016 07:05:55
We can afford players to be injured that's why we have a big squad of internationals.

22 Aug 2016 15:06:10
Fd what you say is true, but it could be said that it is true of us.

Our team is in development, have patience

If we win the league this season I honestly think it would be up there with Leicester.

If Celtic don't win league it would be a massive failure, up there with us our first season in championship.

22 Aug 2016 16:20:56
got to say guys celtic are playing very well and have some good talent but like I've say all the time Europe is a bitch when u have to travel and then come back play aginst the sheep or an old firm its hard rangers and celtic over the years have been known to drop points after these big matches in Europe and that with better squads than what we have at the moment.
I think its game on for the league even if they win their game in hand and beat us on the 10th .

everyone will be saying that's it its done before we even get to October.
just shshshshshsshhh
keep calm and let's see where the magic hat can take us.

23 Aug 2016 17:50:20
We are Rangers, anything other than 1st is unacceptable and I would have thought that our players will feel the same way. For me it is very simple, I will never play second fiddle to a team whose support I see as generally lowlifes and second class citizens. That for me will never change!

{Ed001's Note - sounds like you need to get out more if you have such a pathetic view of an other team's fans.....}

21 Aug 2016 16:14:22
We will be lucky to get second imo as much as I hate to think that it's looking like 3 or even fourth.

21 Aug 2016 19:57:55
Thorn: Don't think we fear them but they obviously have a head start, as for the Imps result, it shouldn't have happened and was a bit of a fake result. These results happen more and more often these days.
However am confident we can get second if not first, Hearts look to be back again but Aberdeen don't impress me right now although they only play 4 times a season like most teams.

21 Aug 2016 15:14:31
I'm convinced we've signed the wrong Joe! I think we've only went and signed Joe Swash! Cheaper option perhaps?

21 Aug 2016 16:50:50
Djab. Just what I said the other day when I saw his photo. He is a ringer for Joe Swash! Great minds etc.

21 Aug 2016 15:24:06
That was funny last week too mate.

21 Aug 2016 14:03:51
At every home game last season and the 3 we have played so far this season (Hamilton, Peterhead and Motherwell), the referees do nothing to clamp down on time wasting by the opposition.

Frustratingly, they rarely add on the time wasted but rather the usual 2-3 mins for substitutions.

Lee Wallace as Captain should be more forceful in highlighting this to the Referee.

Also. who's training the ball boys?

Not enough of them and not returning the balls quickly enough therefore allowing the opposition to take more time for ball retrieval.

21 Aug 2016 14:12:14
And if we are winning at parkhead with 10 mins to go.?

21 Aug 2016 15:06:04
The Celtic Ball Boys will be running for every ball that goes out of play.

21 Aug 2016 16:56:36
Too right Greyfriar. Unless they are winning over by, their kids are told to throw balls on the pitch as quick as they possibly can. And quite right too. We should be doing the same. The time wasting at Ibrox really does my head in!

21 Aug 2016 15:17:46
Lee Wallace never opens his mouth on the park. The least vocal skipper we've ever had.

21 Aug 2016 13:20:34
"We're looking at a number of options"

"Philippe is in with us but it's important we make the right choice"

"Philippe has been first class though. For a guy who's been training away without a team, he looked fit and strong and his CV is very impressive. "

Does this not sound like he's been great but we're going to look elsewhere.

You'd think if he was going to offer him a deal he'd be talking a little more positively about the player.

21 Aug 2016 13:58:57
think said this when Lescott deal was still on, need to see in context.

21 Aug 2016 14:14:10
If he had been truly impressive then why would we have been desperately trying to sign someone else while he is at club on trial.

Even coisty could see senderos is not what we need.

21 Aug 2016 14:30:54
It came from the Sky Sports story about Rangers not being to blame for the Lescott deal falling through.

"Gers are now considering a deal for trialist Senderos, although Warburton insists he could look beyond the former Arsenal centre back. "

21 Aug 2016 14:32:58
Agreed. Really hope it's not going to be Senderos but it almost seems as if a lot of other options have been exhausted.

21 Aug 2016 14:41:34
I agree with part of your post mr nice, but he could be the answer that were looking for at the back, time will tell I suppose, maybe the gaffer is just weighing his options at the minute. I thought he would try and get a loan deal from one of the big clubs down south when they submitted their team sheets for the 25 man premier league squads, but it looks like that's not going to happen this time.

21 Aug 2016 18:28:45
Anyone else think it might just be mariappa and Senderos next week at CD.

21 Aug 2016 13:20:02
That's 3 games and they have followed the same pattern (esp. the 2 Ibrox games), plenty of possession but little penetration, it is very possible that Joe Garner/ Matt Crooks/ Josh Windass will make quite a difference. But I have a couple of questions
#1 - Why is right footed Barrie McKay played on the left, necessitating him to (most of the time) cut inside thus negating the reason you play wingers - get to the by-line and get a cross in
#2 - Plan B? when the pass pass pass thing doesn't work against a team with 10 players behind the ball (which every team outwith Celtic will do) what is the alternative tactic?
#3 - Centre Half - this should've been sorted by now, why hasn't a ÂŁ2m CH been signed?

On the whole Warburton has done a fine job but my 3 questions need answered.

21 Aug 2016 14:05:32
I agree 100%

I think Warbs and Co have been great for us, but my concern from day 1 is that he is hell bent on playing one way and one way only. We will loose plenty of goals that's for sure, will we challenge this season, I really hope so.

2 shots yesterday with all that possession is not great. In the EPL its being proved that very little possession can win you games.

anyway yesterday was the right result, but perhaps when we have certain players back we will improve.

21 Aug 2016 14:56:16
I don't know if we will challenge this year, I think Celtic have massively improved this year under Rodgers, we have been away 4 years which in my opinion a lot of rangers fans have underestimated how difficult this year might be, it's going to be very tough going to the sheep and jambo, s and places like that, what we must do this year is beat the rest of the teams in the league and the old firm games will take care of themselves, but as I said it might be hard, but and its a big but, when Rangers get their full team on the park, hopefully they all gel quickly and make an impact, time will tell though. this would be my starting 11

Fodringham
Tav. Wilson. New c/ b. Wallace
Crooks. Barton. Rossiter
Windass. Garner. McKay

Subs. Gilks. Waghorn. Halliday. cranjcar. Hill. Miller. Holt. hodson dodoo. O, halloran. Kiernan, pick any 7 from them lol

That's the gaffer starting to put a squad together now. but as I said in my post, it might take this year just to get back to the Rangers we all know and love.

21 Aug 2016 16:28:07
Delboy waghorn on bench? Just u settle McKay is brutal and once again proved it also windass injured so jury is still out on him.

21 Aug 2016 16:48:29
Delboy9

Crooks can play at CB but we have yet to see him in a Rangers shirt and also we have Holt who is one player who can score goals and add a lot of drive from midfield.
Windass is another player who will score goals and make runs into the box.
We have plenty of options going forward and I would like to see Warbs play 4-3-1-2 in some games.

21 Aug 2016 17:01:37
Poor Harry can't even get on the bench!

21 Aug 2016 22:32:19
Forrester would be in my team well ahead of McKay. He has played against three mediocre SPL sides and been found wanting.

22 Aug 2016 16:53:35
ive only seen him underperform once McKay that is and that was that game there . tom 42 and gannet why wouldn't u play one our most gifted tallents.
for me McKay is the first name on the team sheet even if has hasn't played his best the last couple of games.
from what I have saw McKay is taking two players out of the game everytime he moves its not his fault that we haven't been taking advantage of that.

21 Aug 2016 17:42:18
McKay is played there to cut inside and shoot, except he doesn't shoot.
No point in crossing because Miller is almost never where a centre should be.

21 Aug 2016 13:18:47
I know both of them get a lot of critics, but after watching the Well game I am still convinced that Kiernan and Wilson are good CB's. Wilson won every header and 50/ 50 his way and other than being sold a stinker by Fods, he was always in control of the game and some great passes. Kiernan pressed like a demon and won possession on multiple times too. We only conceded when Tavs was too far up the pitch and didn't cover the winger cutting in to the box. Passing and ball retention between the two was solid and both were pressing into the oppositions half on multiple occasions to track/ close and press with Rossiter shielding them. For me I thought they were very good.

21 Aug 2016 14:14:31
Once again though we lost a very cheap goal and while I agree that Tavernier did get caught out who was supposed to marking McDonald? There was no one near him as he tapped the ball in. Also it was alarming how many balls McDonald won in the air especially against Kiernan.

21 Aug 2016 14:16:28
Look if your going to down 15 pints before the game then Kiernan will look decent. Might even look like he's so good there is two of him.

21 Aug 2016 14:30:22
Hey Biffo - The usual role for CB is for one to be covering front post and one more central with LB tucking in towards the rear, but when Kiernan was tugged right wilson had to cover front post when (a) other should have covered that spot (I believe that should have been Barton? can't remember) I'd be more inclined to say macdonald just used his experience. Leaning into the player, quick tug and jump etc.

21 Aug 2016 15:32:04
Teddyofthesouth

It's ridiculous to try and defend a CB from getting beaten regularly in the air against an opponent far smaller than him. Nothing to do with experience and more to do with having a centre half who is poor in the air. Kiernan not only doesn't assert himself in the air defensively he also posses no ariel threat in the opposing box. Cannot believe some people still think he is the answer when he clearly isn't.

21 Aug 2016 17:21:38
If our full backs continually push forward we will get caught out on the counter attack.
We need to get the balance right and Hodson gives us this option as he is more defensive than Tav.
Do we rotate the team depending on the opposition?

21 Aug 2016 12:17:14
Just seen wee Mcdonald's comments on yesterday - Rangers don't pass the ball quickly enough and lack penetration. Spot on.

21 Aug 2016 14:19:57
Everyone in Scotland knows it. Except some of our more blinkered fans.

Really need more intensity, more pace in play, more penetration, more dribbling and more risks.

Our play is too slow and one dimensional- every manager in spl knows the game plan to cause us trouble.

Hopefully yesterday acts as a kick up the backside.

21 Aug 2016 14:59:06
What we really need is to get our full first 11 on the park, whether the gaffer knows what that is, I don't know.

21 Aug 2016 11:42:08
Anyone else agree that if we had a proper penalty box Striker yesterday (Garner) we could have scored a handful from all of those great deliveries from tav often we had nobody in the box attacking them. Hopefully Garner can solve this.

21 Aug 2016 12:50:54
Hard to admit but I thought Mcmannus just defended the crosses well, maybe some occasions we didn't have a body there but if not for Mcmannus a few of our players might have got on the end of one. My opinion.

21 Aug 2016 13:23:58
Great deliveries from Tav? 45% of the time he didn't get it past the first defender, another 45% of the time he overshot it. But that 10% that's left he did put in a good cross.

21 Aug 2016 13:28:50
Hopefully he doesn't just become another one of the players who just pass the ball about outside the box and not make an attempt though.

He needs to get into areas that the rest of the players aren't getting into and find decent space to finish teams off. Can't keep conceeding the first goal and giving teams something to defend.

21 Aug 2016 11:36:46
Before I type this out, I'm being a hypocrite. My last post was all about getting behind the team etc, yesterday Warburton got it all wrong. A deflated performance with the luck of a last minute winner. We were simply not good enough, these games are the ones you win comfortably. We looked rugged, we are predictive, we don't have a plan A never mind a B. Tynecastle and Pittodrie will be the difference this year, December time we will draw a lot of games, if we can't play against a weak Motherwell side at home what chance do we have away. Do we need time to bed in? Do we have time to bed in? Tactically is Warburton getting it wrong, take away his goal is kenny still running our line, dropping in with his back to goal. MOH is he an impact player or was he a player that done well in a counter attacking squad where he got in behind teams. We need to rethink the strategy before we even think about anything.

Thoughts bears. I guess it's a negative post but after yesterday the optimism for me is slowly drifting away.

21 Aug 2016 12:07:14
I agree, I would much rather win comfortably ugly than struggle while playing attractive football. It is becoming boring to watch and is almost like there is a rule that every player has to touch the ball before it gets into the box to be met by a wall of players who know exactly what we are going to do. Unless things change I think we can forget about the European dream.

21 Aug 2016 12:28:51
We created plenty of chances. We just need Garner in there to finish them, how many times did we see the ball go to the back post for NO ONE to be there. What about the amount of crosses that just needed a head on them? Honestly if we had taken our chances and scored a goal or 2 more no one would be moaning.

21 Aug 2016 12:34:39
I think the manager is still just trying to get everyone fit and then we will be a force to be reckoned with again. don't get me wrong I was tearing my hair out at the game yday until that last one went in, and yes some of MW's decisions have baffled me this year, but I think once we add a fit Kranjcar, Senderos (hopefully or someone of that stature), Holt, Windass, Waggy, Crooks and Garner then we will be a different animal, and one that can match that other mob.
Right now is the same problem as the end of last year, we don't have many fit options to choose from. That's the problem with not paying transfer fees, a lot of the players we've brought in aren't ready yet, if they were they would have had a richer Club come in for them.
I'm just glad we're keeping ourselves in touching distance until we start firing on all cylinders again, and when we do some team will cop a sore one, hopefully Celtic.
And I think it's fair to say Barton, Rossiter and Halliday can't play in the same midfield, to similar and no creativity.

21 Aug 2016 12:35:26
The problem is we aren't direct enough and the first half was a classic example of this. Slow tempo playing passes across the park in front of Motherwell giving them time to defend. Their goal keeper had nothing to do first half and we made it so easy for them. Under Warburton we are far too predictable and we are easy to defend against and easy to score against.

21 Aug 2016 12:53:49
I agree the tactics are not great at the moment and we need to step/ mix it up but it's too early to be so negative, especially with 7 points on the board, players to come into the team and the team in general coming together the more we play. I think we will get it right in time.

21 Aug 2016 13:23:50
Thing is when we go to celtic park, tynecastle, pittodrie these teams won't sit 11 men behind the ball they will attack us leaving space behind them we will play better against teams who push forward . teams like motherwell just play negative football and its hard to break down but we kept pushing and we got a reward yesterday.

21 Aug 2016 13:32:05
I think MW got his tactic, because there only is one, wrong yesterday. Nico has to start. He isn't the type of player that can easily pick up the pace of the game as a sub, thankfully he was involved in the goals. He would be much more effectual starting games. Barton needed to come off yesterday, he was lost in the midfield and didn't seem to know what his role was. Him and rossiter need to be swapped round. McKay needs to be dropped to give him a kick up the arse. He made no attempts to take anyone on yesterday and when Windass is fit I'd have him in there. MOH needs to add a finish to his moves. He could have set up Miller for a tap in but went for a shot that was never on. The only positive is that they showed resilience to come up with the win.

21 Aug 2016 13:47:03
Europe to be honest hasn't crossed my mind. Ad rather do well domestically, any rangers fans happy with a 2-1 win at home courtesy of a last gasp winner is mad. Yes 3 points is 3 points but looking at the table yesterday should of been comfortable for us.

21 Aug 2016 13:51:20
It's like pulling a 10 to find out she's got her period.

21 Aug 2016 14:10:32
@Albertz Ha Ha Ha. Brilliant! Have you ever pulled a 10?

21 Aug 2016 14:17:47
Bigtrfc

Think your being a bit harsh on Motherwell I didn't think they were overly negative. They created a few good chances and brought out 2 excellent saves from Foderingham.

21 Aug 2016 14:27:35
Clubdeck06 on your point about players
bedding in. I read comments from an
interview MW gave on the subject. He
said he didn't go for foreign players because
it takes to long for them to settle, 2 years
was mentioned, said that uk players may
only have weeks to bed into new team. He
then spoke about a Spanish player he had at
Brentford bought for 800k he couldn't play
him for more than an hour to begin with or
bring him on as a sub for his 1st 3 months.
To me it's contradicting his earlier statement.

21 Aug 2016 21:03:56
GDog10 only when I'm wasted but when I wake up it's a 4 at best.

21 Aug 2016 13:55:04
By Christmas I think we will have garner crooks and windass playing regularly that's 3 players who excite me there all over the place working hard and ruffling the other team
Is it possible that the players are getting over trained and by the time they have to play there not fully fit as they look as if the have jet lag
It could be the opposite and there not eating the right things and eating a few fryed mars bars
I'm worried about our fitness levels they should be flying at this time of year starting to wonder how they will cope with a cup run and league games coming twice a week.

21 Aug 2016 15:38:00
He meant he can't do that here at Rangers due to the expectations. Brentford was another matter.

21 Aug 2016 11:11:55
Hi guys, fm first time post. In my honest opinion feel we are miles behind tic! Watched them for a few weeks they are head and shoulders above us, Gers fans need to acknowledge this. The problem is tactics and player selection! Warbs trying to play a system with players that do not have the technical ability to play such a style. Again Kenny millers inclusion baffles me, at 36 just not got it to lead the line, why buy Dodoo if just going to sit on bench. We have a whole host of new signings yet they are being used sporadically. Defence is a major problem this should have been the first new addition to the squad. Warbs must change things.

21 Aug 2016 12:30:29
No rubbish sherlock. When you have the budget Celtic do you'd expect them to be far better.

21 Aug 2016 12:40:12
Bluenose I think you are forgetting where we've been the last four years yes the manly mid might be better just now but they should be with the ivestment they've had but that doesn't mean we can't beat them support the team trust the manager instead of being so negitive.

21 Aug 2016 11:45:32
Bluenose84 the new players are only just getting to know there team mates, plus they are trying to adjust to the new style of play, a few players are not up to full speed training wise. ime sure once they are up to fill match fitness they will come good, plus mw has still to work out his best 11, once mw works out his best 11 ime sure we will all be pleasently surprised, remember mate although some players know each other better than others they will mould into a good team, the main problem we face at this moment in time is that in our league all teams have to hit the ground running, ime confident that we will gel in our next few games, the players know they can't allow any team to get to far in front of us (points wise, i still think we will be there abouts, looking to get euro footbsll next season, most of our new signings are here to win trophies, and ime pretty sure they will, give them another couple of months to gel w. a. t. p.

21 Aug 2016 15:18:13
Guys it doesn't matter budget or where we've been in last 4 years. mw was told to build a sqaud capable of winning the title or at least competing for the title and minimum of getting into europe. i personaly think were gona struggle. i think we need change thr system to 4231.we have the players capable of that. So my system of 4321 would be
Fod
Tav crooks wilson wallace
Barton rossiter
Waghorn windass mackay
Dodo.

21 Aug 2016 10:25:43
Maybe a controversial opinion concidering the result yesterday but for the 3rd week running I felt Warburton got the starting line up wrong again. Slightly concerning since how stubborn he is with the substitutes havine to wait to 60mins or there abouts even when it's not working.

I feel Mckay needs a reality check and would give Dodoo, Oh all oran a chance instead, just feel Mckay would be more positive if coming off the bench in a game right now. Also Halliday just doesn't cut it for me but Warbs seems to rate him so don't see him getting dropped.

Would have gone with Fod Tav Kiernan Wilson Wallace Barton Rossiter Forester Ohalloran Miller Dodoo myself. Kranjcar Mckay off the bench.

21 Aug 2016 10:43:57
MW and DW have still to decide who is their starting eleven. Whilst it would be easy to accommodate one or two new players, our team have several to consider.

When we have the ball we continually pass it across the box with no-one taking the chance and attacking the box, or putting the ball into this area. This is an area that hopefully MW and DW are concentrating on.

Mind you, you cannot fault the team for trying and having the will to win, and it should be said that Motherwell and those before them pack their box to the full.

I had to laugh at McGhee's comments when he said that this is the Motherwell team that he wants to see and has confidence for their next match.

TBBaB.

21 Aug 2016 12:01:47
Just2see i said on here last season, before a ball had been kicked that miller should be benched and brought on for the last half hour, my mind hss not been changed, once we get all player fit i think there will be a lot of changes to our starting 11windass, crooks etc, they ndver signed to sit on the bench, ide like to see mckay coming in from the right and ide play hf out left, but once garnet gets a game, ide imagine the wingers will be told to get high balls into the box as we will have taller players that can header the ball, not just garner (he is only 5,10)but crooks, doodo etc they are taller player than we had last season, even hill can put them away when the chances arrive, my chin won't be going down just yet, a bit of time and patience, is all that's required imho.

21 Aug 2016 12:45:32
I agree with you on McKay definitely to come off the bench to see how he can impact the game after 60 minutes or so and give MOH a run of games from the start because I really want him to do well but I just can't see why we paid half a million pounds for him it's like he doesn't fit in to the team but I would love to be proved wrong.

21 Aug 2016 14:21:14
Dodoo clearly not ready to start and is raw. Unfair to ask him to lead the line and Warburton clearly agrees.

21 Aug 2016 09:53:27
It's obvious we need a decent central defender not a silky passer just a no nonsense type clear the ball tackle header imo Danny Wilson didn't become a bad player in one season maybe it's Keirnan he can't adapt with.

21 Aug 2016 10:19:43
Why is it Keirnan gets all the flak for our defensive issues, Wilson has not kicked a ball for us since his return far to casual struts about like a prima donna get off Keirnans back in Warbs we trust.

21 Aug 2016 11:06:47
Wilson was the best player on the park yesterday what game are you lot watching!?

21 Aug 2016 11:43:57
Kiernan makes basic errors and is lucky not to be punished more. He struggled at times last season, but he looks out his depth this season.

21 Aug 2016 11:49:03
Wilson had a good game yesterday.

21 Aug 2016 12:48:02
Kiernan is the weaker of the 2 and is more likely to make mistakes. Tbh neither are great however with only 1 centre half being signed I think Kiernan has to make way.

21 Aug 2016 09:31:19
A few thoughts after yesterday. Firstly, we dodged a bullet with Lescott as he is slow af. We leave Kiernan and Wilson so exposed due to the style of play and any replacement has to have the pace to cover a lot of grass. To be fair to the lads what they do is a lot harder than CB's who have a bank of four on front of them and two wing backs tucked in. In this case they have about 6-8 square feet to defend. Ours have about 60 at times! Kiernan has mistakes in him but I think some people may have got a shock watching Lescott trying to do his job! We need to take better care as a team. No CB will be an instant fix! Burnley did the same to Liverpool yesterday as they did to us and their CB are worth mega bucks!

Secondly, Barrie McKay! Needs to be dropped for now, had hoped he would kick on this season but has gone back into his shell. Hear some people say he'll play at the top level! Never say never but I'm still unconvinced he can cut it in the SPL! Has a wonderful touch at times but it's not enough!

O'Halloran. The commentary on RTV when he blew that chance at the end summed him up. A quiet groan! Great physical attributes and I can sense every supporter wants him to do well but seems to lack any confidence or intelligence as a footballer! Needs a run of games and if he doesn't improve then sadly I'd bin the lad!

On a more positive note, looking forward to seeing Garner balling in and around the box! With Tav's delivery he will get goals! Fair play to Kenny for the 2nd but had he missed it how would he have rated? Too many missed chances again for me but more importantly when the ball goes in the six yard box he's nowhere!

21 Aug 2016 09:46:16
Spot on.

21 Aug 2016 11:29:18
Agree RFC with your summary. Thought Wilson did a bit better yesterday, he is clearly motivated to do better and had a good header at corner and there was a commitment in his all round play. Hopefully Crooks will be available soon and is as good as we are all hoping. Think Dodoo brings something different to strikeforce and should be on from start.

21 Aug 2016 10:17:35
Agreed. Barry McKay was woeful yesterday. Never beat his man once. Definitely a confidence player. Was the worst player on the park. I would like to know Joey Barton's pass completion stats. I wouldn't be surprised if it was under 50%. Needs to do better. Maybe if he spent less time in the media and more time in the gym, he would be the player we expected to see. Halliday was another passenger yesterday. Not impressed. Mark Warburton really needs to start thinking about plan B because his plan A is becoming frustrating to watch.

For me Danny Wilson was the best player on the park. I doubt those with an irrational disklike for him will agree. He did everything right yesterday. Their goal was blatantly due to an absent midfield. Harry Forrester as per usual put in a great shift. The game change for us bringing on the subs who I feel now deserve a start. However, Forrester deserves his place over Miller. Yes he gets the winner but he's an impact sub for me. Too many missed opportunities and he sits too deep.

There were some good points yesterday but they've swallowed up in a sea of bad points and room for improvement. That being said 3 points is 3 points so congratulations to the lads for securing them.

21 Aug 2016 09:30:34
Wes with another outstanding save to keep us in the game yesterday really don't understand why people don't rate him.

21 Aug 2016 10:38:25
One very astute post. I do think O'Halloran has the intelligence aspect though but agree confidence may play a part. Same with McKay and I see Tavernier standing down for free kicks and wonder if there's a bit of feeling intimidated by Barton's presence at play.

Wilson had a very good game and a couple of outstanding cross field passes and I think he covers a lot for Wallace who's forward far too much and not the most convincing tackler. I hope Windass recovers sooner rather than later because I'm not sure what Halliday's role in the team is supposed to be. Seems ineffective in it.

21 Aug 2016 11:07:13
wes is a descent goalie but needs to keep his cool more.

21 Aug 2016 11:57:19
Sorry guys but he's not commanding or vocal enough for me. I think that's why Wilson and Kiernan struggle so much at corners and free kicks. All the best keepers make high demands of thier two CDS and give them hell when they r not delivering I just don't see Fod doing this. I would give Gilks a few games and see if it makes a difference to Wilson and RK.

21 Aug 2016 10:20:20
Yeah I agree. I counted 3 outstanding saves to keep us in contention. However, he needs to be commanding in the box at set pieces. This defensive attributes we are looking for could be nullified if Wes comes and takes the ball at set pieces. Still seems like a rabbit in the headlights at set pieces.

21 Aug 2016 07:22:09
this will be our best team and prob startin 11 wes tav kiernan wilson wallace barton rossiter kranjar forrester garner mckay.

21 Aug 2016 07:50:39
I would take out forrester for all his hard work he jus doesn't cut the mustard as a winger he needs to play central. waghorn and windass when fit will play. imo windass will prove to be the best buy of the lot.

21 Aug 2016 09:47:38
Would be loathe to take out Forrester - he plays with hunger and guile which he turns into results. A player who really does make an impact - where would we be without his goals.

21 Aug 2016 10:38:28
Forrester hasn't played a full 90 minutes yet and has had a significant impact in our team having seven points on the board just now.

His pass against Hamilton was as good as a goal.

His goal against Dundee was perfect. No other player on the park would have been able to score a goal like that.

He popped up in the right place to score a crucial goal yesterday.

His best position may be debatable but we shouldn't consider leaving our on form player out for one second. As for Windass playing ahead of Forrester. Leaving our on form player out of the team for someone who's not kicked a ball in the league yet shouldn't happen.

21 Aug 2016 11:48:16
Forester has been our best player this season. Miller probably second.

Wouldn't have any points without them.

21 Aug 2016 12:23:48
Agree Mr Nice.

Everyone including me, rights off Miller and no one has them in their starting eleven when picking their strongest team.

Hopefully his form continues and he proves everyone wrong. Did it last season, sure he can do it again.

21 Aug 2016 12:59:32
We don't have a 'best team' for every game, what we have is a squad of players who all bring something different to the table and should be used accordingly depending on tactics and opposition.

21 Aug 2016 13:57:05
McKay has been poor in every SPL Game. It is time he was rested and there are plenty of players that can replace him. Same with Halliday, he is another weak link in the team.

21 Aug 2016 17:29:06
I think the only reason halliday gets a game is because he's left footed and it gives the team more balance.

21 Aug 2016 10:23:19
Reg exactly right. I love Harry's drive, hunger and dig. His positional sense could be improved but it's him over Barry all day long for me. Barton really needs to get his finger out too.

21 Aug 2016 06:47:27
Pleased with the new rangers signings this summer but if Rangers want to be real title contenders they need an animal at CB like a bougherra or kygriakos Why can't Dave king release 1 m or so early before the January window surely if Rangers want to be in with a real chance this is a must I think the squad as a whole is very impressive but lacks that finishing touch . Senderos adds experience and as for lescott he's just a big name player but at 34 years old he's past it . Lescott vs Sinclair dembele etc is scary I'm glad he didn't sign he's better off earning mega bucks and driving fast cars we don't need that.

21 Aug 2016 09:37:52
Why is dave king waiting till january to release the warchest?

21 Aug 2016 10:52:25
Release the Warchest on what?

A new striker with a proven goal scoring record at a level better than this league. We've got that.

A new holding midfielder with grit, determination and passion for the club at an age where we can develop him into an outstanding player. Got that.

A creative midfielder with a magic touch who can win us a game with just 30 mins on the pitch. Got that.

Cover for the goalkeeper position and someone who can play either full back position. Got that.

These are crucial positions we needed strengthened and the board have been terrific in their backing of the manager. Add in to that Windass, Crooks, Dodoo, Hill and the marquee signing of Joey Barton. They have brought in all of these players for next to nothing in transfer fees.

A centre back is a must but I'd doubt we'd get anyone more reliable than Senderos for the money that'd be in a warchest.

21 Aug 2016 11:51:00
Thorn your not watching the same team I am if you don't see we need investment - particularly in defence.

21 Aug 2016 12:31:29
Investment in defence.

Tavernier has improved the defensive side of his game with the direct competition from Hodson. Wilson has improved and had a decent game against Motherwell. Right now is our best defender by quite a distance. Wallace is a leader and will improve defensively as the season goes on. Senderos will add experience at a high level at just 31.

Yes we need a new centre back, but where do we get one? Loan deal from the premier league or a player who isn't getting game time at a mid table championship team. Jack Hobbs was mentioned, maybe he'd do a job but it looks like it'll be just Senderos.

21 Aug 2016 13:29:23
Thorn, that post is a prime example of hope, and hype clouding judgement.
If the esteemed mr "Warbs" doesn't sort this team soon, top 6 will be a struggle never mind winning the league.

22 Aug 2016 17:30:00
Right everybody let's look at what you are all saying, 9 possibly 10 new players brought in, no real pre season with the league cup joke teams, ok Burnley good workout the team needs time to gel oh forgot who is top of the premier league not bad for a rubbish team.

21 Aug 2016 00:48:37
First time post folks. Need to be more direct as today could have cost us. Get the ball in the box as soon as we can. Anything can happen. Deflection or lucky break. Too much overplaying at times. When we reach the last third fire it in. A few times today Motherwell defenders were very close to putting it in their own net.

21 Aug 2016 09:39:07
The problem is that the Motherwell defenders were not being challenged for the ball in there! No one there apart from when we're in gung ho mode trying to snatch a win in the last 5! Garner will be crucial to us because that is what he does well.

21 Aug 2016 08:21:05
I feel our problem is we don't have any players in the box when the ball eventually gets played in an Ally McCoist or a Kris Boyd type of player would do well in this team let's hope joe garner offers us something different.

21 Aug 2016 10:27:55
This left to right, right to left left play is frustrating the life out of me. I agree we need to more direct. Miller sits too deep. How many times did we put the ball in box in the first half and Miller was nowhere to be seen. Then he finally gets his chance one on one with the keeper and he guffs it. When Miller had too much time to think, he's useless. He's an instinct player. Being more direct and clinical is a huge must.

21 Aug 2016 00:39:26
Derek Johnstone said senderos won't be match fit for about 3 to 4 weeks if we do sign him. imo that is no good to us because we need a centre back that can walk into our team our defence is shocking.

21 Aug 2016 01:27:48
Trust warburton.

21 Aug 2016 10:30:02
Our style of play is at times, shocking. Defence not any worse or better than our midfield at times.
